Pros - Location is hard to beat. Right in the redwoods, next to the river, in close distance to Big Sur sights. The service was good. Our receptionist was very nice and recommended touring locations. Cons - Mildewy smell that permeated even our clean clothes after the trip. Leaky toilet that left water pooling on the ground. Bed sheet stains. Curtains that didn't cover the window fully so we didn't have 100% privacy. Also no sleeping in if you're sensitive to light. Couldn't run the heater and the stove at the same time - breaker would trip. Crappy WiFi that worked only sometimes. Our fire site was a walk away and positioned in the mud, while others had theirs close. (Avoid cabin 10 if you choose to go) Not worth $600 for two nights. I will not be returning.

We stayed in our RV and absolutely loved our time spent there. Great location, Spacious spots, picturesque surroundings amidst the trees, clean facilities. Received firewood & mugs upon arrival, staff was super friendly! Last day we discovered our RV had a flat and the maintenance staff actually changed it for us, and in record time. Can’t show enough appreciation for this place and the people who run it! Stay here!

Google
I very much recommend it because this place is just beautiful! We got to choose our camping spot from the ones still available. We got a bundle of wood plus starters to light up our campfire in the pre-prepared places. In the afternoon & next morning, we got to choose between hot water for a hot chocolate or tee and coffee with cow or oat milk. The sanitation system was clean, with warm showers and an extra room to wash and dry your clothes. The campground is perfect for single- or family trips. It also has a big playground for kids, and dogs are allowed.

Google
We really enjoyed our stay. The campground is in such a beautiful area along the river. We reserved a spot to park a travel trailer. There was plenty of room, had electrical and water hook-ups and a nice fire pit. When we arrived, the person at the entrance gave us all the information we needed. They offered us free ice, firewood and hot drinks. The little store at the front is very convenient. The first night we stayed was a Sunday and there was some loud music and people talking at full volume, but the next two nights were nice and quiet. Overall it's a very nice campground and we would definitely stay there again.

Google
Me and my family come here about 3 times a year and we always have barbecues for dinner and breakfast, our favorite cabin is 103 the rooms are very nice and clean and there’s a kitchen in the cabin withe every possible thing you would need for a family like mine. The cabin is right by a creek that my kids love to down to and play in. Love this place!!!!!!

Google
Love this place. Great location. Very clean and well kept grounds and facilities. Friendly staff. We stayed in one of the camping cabins right next to the river. It was so beautiful and peaceful. We didn't want to leave. Listen....the shared showers....these things had the BEST shower heads! Better than any hotel we've stayed. My wife and I both talked about it as soon as we got out of the showers. It was unbelievably great water pressure. Plus the hot water seemed endless. Excellent place to stay!!!!

Google
Very nice campground, but could use with some lights for late arrivals. Also be cautious, the roads are pretty narrow & we learned the hard way that you really shouldn't try to bring a camper over 22ft. Best thing about it is the nice little wading river right down a short, gentle hill. Very clean, though pretty cold. Great for really hot days. It's segmented into 2 big, deep spots.

Google
Lovely campground. Stayed in a cabin which was clean and tidy. Gave us two mugs, firewood, and hot cocoa for our stay and had a nice fire at night. Employees were nice as well. No wifi which was fine with us, as there are restaurants on highway 1 which have wifi if you need

Yelp
We stayed here about a long time ago and my wife surprised me with a 3 day getaway recently. There are many options to choose from: tents, RV parking, A-frames, small cabins, and larger cabins. She chose a riverside cabin and this place made such a strong impression we remembered it was right next to the cabin with a loft our friends stayed at the first time we came about a decade ago. There is no cellular signal here so you'll be without internet, the only WiFi available is near the entrance and there is a $20 fee, if you are desperate there are some pockets of reception going south on highway one but we took the opportunity to disconnect and enjoy fire, nature, and each others company instead. You'll know when you get reception because your phone will start going crazy. The riverside cabin had an outdoor pit and indoor wood burning stove so you get fire inside and out, the river is right outside and if you go down at night it's creepy. We loved the clean bedrooms and cozy living room, most of our time indoors was spent in the living room hanging around near the fire. We ate most of our meals at the cabin and it felt private and quiet though there were other people staying next to us, the shower had insane water pressure and flow and it was nice not having to sleep smokey and dirty every night. There are basic kitchen utensils, cups, plates, and pans. I don't know why we expected this but there is no salt or pepper so make sure to bring your own! Firewood is also marked up and we always use more than we think so better to buy from farther away, they provide 1 free bundle and we brought 5 and still ended up using all of it.

Yelp
This campground was perfect for our group of 29 people (12 adults and 17 kids)! Kids ranging from 6-12 years old. There was something to do for everyone. The campground has a playground, basketball court, the creek/river to float down and a swim hole. It was nice to disconnect for a bit (no wifi except near the entrance for a fee). The 2 bed cabin was perfect for our family of four. Definitely recommend staying at this campground when in Big Sur.

Flores S.

Yelp
We loved the tranquility and peace it feels coming to this place. We stayed over the weekend and we absolutely loved it. There is no tv or internet in the cabins but if you come to relax this is the best place to go. We will definitely come again, very happy!

Tj J.

Yelp
The facility is fairly clean, and they offer free amenities, but my complaint is that for the price they charge, they don't provide full hook-ups. The campground is small, with tight turns for mid to large RVs, and they've placed the dump station at the entrance, blocking traffic for those trying to enter. If you decide to use it, the staff asks you to hurry up and finish quickly, while other people yell at you for using the dump. Whose big idea was it to put the dump station at the entrance? Also they don't enforce loud music and drunk people.

Victoria H.

Yelp
so welcoming. Every single staff member was very attentive. Free ice, first free bag of wood and a really cute coffee cup set. We enjoyed the layout and the bathrooms and the laundry room was very clean

P P.

Yelp
The scenery is spectacular, all the sites are fairly close together. The cabin bathroom window faces a campsite and no curtain is provided, makes for a steamy bathroom while showering. The general store doesn't have much so come prepared. The staff were all friendly and the campsite is clean.

Yelp
If you are seeking a place to stay in Big Sur, this place is incredible and an absolute MUST stay. My girlfriend and I lodged/visited numerous places throughout our trip in CA, but this was by far our favorite stay of all. Considering we spent most of our time enjoying the outdoors, the cabin we stayed in topped off the Big Sur experience! The cabin/campground was well-maintained, spacious, spotless, and truly a hidden gem. There are many reviews on here that notate the lack of amenities, but most don't understand how desolate the Big Sur area is. I can personally say I expected much less for a campground. But the amount of sites, and different stay options can appeal to anyone. The staff on-site made us feel at home and were super welcoming. I want to give a shout out to Max (I believe he is a site manager) - he was very knowledgeable of the area and recommended numerous sight seeing/hiking/dinning options. We are so glad to have crossed paths with him! We loved Big Sur, but it would not have been the same if we didn't stay here. 100% made the trip truly memorable.

Yelp
Have stayed here several times over last few years and previously recommended them. The change is mainly due to their harsh no refund policy during storms. I get that they have a firm policy because people can change their mind willy nilly and thats hard for a business. However yesterday was an exception due to storms in the area. We were coming from the South and HWY 1 was closed. We called and they would not provide refunds. Ok, so we made a second attempt to come and drove the long way around from N which was technically open. Once past Carmel, however, the wind was so strong that several trees toppled across the road, a large boulder rolled onto hwy 1 partially blocking us and my trailer started to sway significantly making the journey unsafe. We pulled to the side of the road and considered option. With safety in mind, we called to cancel. Once we found safe accommodation we found out that the entire area was under a flood warning due to rising water in the Big Sur river. Yes, the one that goes through camp. And guess what, they still wont accommodate refunds. So sorry, I will refuse to do business with them anymore. There have to be exceptions given the circumstances.

Katherine R.

Yelp
Do not be late on your check-in. If you do, there would be written instructions on where you should go, but you have to come back in the morning to finish your check-in. There is little to no signal in the campgrounds. It's great, especially if you're trying to get away from all the hustle and bustle from the city. By the toll gate, you check in and get your bundle of wood. Any extra is $10. They'll give you a map on how to get around to your spot, but it's pretty easy to navigate in. We received a mini flashlight with 2 mugs for our taking. It's pretty nice to have too. There's free coffee and ice if you need some. We got a cabin that has a kitchen and bathroom. There are some that you can rent just the bed, then you'd have to use the public restrooms or bring your own grill. I've seen other campers with vans and RVs, but you can call them if you need more info about their rules for camper vans. Inside our cabin, the kitchen is fully equipped with plates, utensils, knives, can opener, pots, and pans. There's a microwave and toaster too. By the sink, there was a sponge (not new, unfortunately) with dishwasher soap. There's cold and hot water on both the sink and shower. Trash bins allocated for regular trash and recycles were a nice touch. The refrigerator was a decent size. If you plan yo stay for a couple of days to a week or maybe more, I'd recommend bringing in food to cook. There aren't many places within the area to buy so make sure you bring food and drinks. Our stay was wonderful. You don't hear the vehicles passing by the highway. It's just the sound of the river, the wind and birds, especially on quiet time. Overall, we would go back to this campground. Totally recommend for families or couples for a getaway.

Yelp
I purchased a camp site a few days in advance and got covid then they kept $100 when I cancelled. This is such a rip off of a campground. I am so upset.

Gyr N.

Yelp
This is a a good place for cabining and RV'ing but not for camping. There's an unpaved driveway that circles the campground. Anytime there's someone driving it kicks up a lot of dust. I really feel bad for the folks that camp nearby. The playgrounds, washer and dryer, and general store come in handy. They should pave the driveway to keep the dust down.

Joe P.

Yelp
What a great place we found. Would highly recommend. Nice and clean bathrooms, lots of places to walk around, hike, swim and have fun.

Tina V.

Yelp
Perfect getaway. This place has everything you need. Free ice to refill your ice chest, firewood for sale after your first free bundle, clean restrooms, free hot showers. Close to trails.

Dan K.

Yelp
BSG has a great mix of classic camping, tents, RV, glampers, s'mores, river swimming and cute cabins. The staff keeps the place modern yet historic. Nice touches like free ice, free first bundle of firewood and towel service in the cabins. Decent respect for quiet hours. Currently hwy 1 was closed further south so it was even more peaceful and quiet. Love it. Max and team do a great job of keeping it epic.

Luis C.

Yelp
The river is really nice, clean and clear. Really refreshing during summer one of the best times to visit

Vivianne G.

Yelp
If you're looking for a clean and close to nature place to crash but looking to spend most of your time hiking and in the outdoors- this is it. Affordable and right in the middle of the redwoods.

Evangelene G.

Yelp
It's a bit on the pricey side but I wanted to check it out because you know how the grass seems greener on the other campground.... We stayed in a studio cabin. It was nice to have our own bathroom with a shower and electric. We also had a queen sized bed and more than enough towels for our weekend stay. If you book cabin #68, things to know: - Very close proximity to the basketball court so the sound of basketballs resonated during our stay. - The wood was not dried out and the family next door burned a lot of it that the smoke had no where to go but in our room (my lungs were burning and I slept with a mask). - You get your own fire pit and given a bundle of wood. - Also we got a goody bag with two mugs and a flashlight. The mugs came in handy since there's free coffee and tea and the office. - There is no internet which is good for me but to keep in mind. They offer inner tubes if you want to float on the river, as well as a swimming hole (at your own risk). On Saturday night they had taco night which we regret not doing since we went out to dinner to get away from the sound of basketballs. If you are a family with small kids or a group, this is an awesome place to go. If you want quiet time or do not have small kids, you might want to consider other options.

Yelp
PRICING - I have been to this place several times and our last trip was crazy busy expensive. Not only was it over $100.00 each night but the place was empty. Then on top of that a guy pulled in to the spot next to us and after we started talking we found out he was basically a walk in and yep, he paid $30 less then us for the night. We made reservations 5 weeks ahead of time and paid more then this guy. CAMPING - The camping is great, the Big Sur area is beautiful but it's very messy. The employees don't sweet or rake anything up. The roads are wet, muddy and covered in leaves. Now to be fair it is the forest but even where they have assault it's nit clean. Our RV space was so dirty that I used my hose to clean the concrete slab. RESTROOMS & SHOWERS - The restrooms and showers are good but they are not great. Everything was clean, the water was warm and there was water pressure so that's I guess good enough. THINGS TO DO - There is really nothing to do. There is a small park and a basketball court but the kids were board out of their minds. The river is really nice but there isn't really a beach. The water was cold but we rented a raft and floated downstream anyways. One of the small cabins caught on fire because the ass clown that was renting the place out ash and hit coals in a paper bag and then set it outside in the wood steps. Don't worry I put the fire out and saved the place from burning down. All I got was a thank you from the staff. The best thing to do here in Bug Sur is to just soak in the forest and enjoy this beautiful part of California. OTHER CAMPERS - The place was empty but I've been here before. Most everyone is chill and the place is quiet. CUSTOMER SERVICE - The customer service is very good. One particular lady lives at the RV park with her daughter. She was super mice and really helpful. She actually went on vacation the day we arrived. It was her birthday so we brought her a cake. Like I said she was really nice and very helpful. OVERALL "4 STARS" At the end of the day this place is great but it's getting really expensive. The new owners claim that they are fixing it up slowly over time. I think everyone should visit Bug Sur and I think that this is a great RV Park but I think it's important to shop around because it just wasn't worth what we paid.

Jason P.

Yelp
Over 5 years later, still a great Campground and new owners/camp staff are still top notch. Very clean and well kept. Super relaxing as usual. You now also get a nice gift bag, bundle of firewood and unlimited ICE bags. Icing on the cake.

Amelia M.

Yelp
Sadly, this place is changing quickly in the price & experience categories since new management took over a year ago. At almost $200/night for dirt camping and without separate tent & RV spots you too might be hearing a generator during your quiet weekend. If you're in a cabin as some in our group were then watch out for campfire smoke getting into your cabin at $400/night. At previously moderate rates the dusty road, cool weather, old but clean bathrooms, & no wi-fi/cell service was okay & part of the Big Sur experience, but at top dollar resort prices this place is antiquated, near the road, & testy about how many vehicles, guests, & freebies you get. My husband was told he needn't hoard coffee since there would be more, but the guy wanted another cup. Multiple generations & friends have met here for over 20 years giving the place a friendly vibe, but that is changing with new management to a corporate one.

Mason M.

Yelp
Really nice campsite. VEry clean bathrooms and campsites are excellent. The staff at front desk very helpful as they gave me some matches for our campfire. The young man man also helped me change my rv site cause I didn't have an extension for my hookups in campsite 41. He let me move to another rv site that worked much better. There are plenty of dog clean up bags around and they give you a gift bag of cards and flashlight as well as firewood. We enjoyed our stay here even if a little pricey compared to other campsites. Noticed that there were not too many insects and no racoons at all. Also no bears. Very friendly campers , families and kids. The best thing I experienced here was everyone was enjoying nature sights and sounds rather than being on their phones. There is no signal here nor any wifi so people are forced to be human beings again and talk to each other and enjoy life - So refreshing. There are no street lights so it gets very dark at night and you feel at peace here

Justin M.

Yelp
Super clean but I did not meet one nice worker here. All workers were rude and acted like they hated their life's. Pretty sure you could meet nicer people in hell. Lol

Tom G.

Yelp
This is by far the best place to stay if you want to rejuvenate your soul. We got a large cabin with a kitchen by the river, and the experience was so amazing and peaceful. People are friendly, and the cabin was amazing . We bought everything from carmel and drove in and had food and BBQ the whole weekend. The only one downside to this place is that there is no internet or cell service, which management should look into adding to every cabin.

Shawn D.

Yelp
Great experience here!!! Restrooms & showers were all clean & well maintained! I was amazed with all the nice amenities (basketball court, inner tubes...). Wi-Fi is an additional $20 charge (pay for it cause there's no signal). Very spacious tent sites, plus your first time there you get a nice welcoming package too . Friendly guests especially my neighbors who assisted me with my car issue. I could say more but probably not enough room.

LakeLady A.

Yelp
It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. I have been a loyal and repeat guest of the campground for nearly a decade. I have traveled back roads and added hours to my trip to get to the coast some years during road closures and landslides to make it to Big Sur Campground, sometimes being the only tent camper in the whole place. I have favorite campsites. I've been happily surprised to be recognized by long time employees. When camping exploded during and after the pandemic, and reservations became a challenge to even land, I still called to see where i might be able to just squeeze in a night or two. Staying at this campground has always been a pleasure and a priority. I just went onto the website, which has come a long way over the years, too, and I'm really disheartened to see that a tent site with one car and one dog would now set me back over $100/night. I've been priced out of my favorite haunt. I'm glad they are doing so well, but I just can't even afford to sleep in a tent in Big Sur anymore. Camping used to be a way to get away that didn't break the bank. I'll be sad to go back to the drawing board. It's been a pleasure, and if you have the money, book Big Sur Campground. Tell them I said hi.

Zach N.

Yelp
So we've been here three times in the past, the most recent being 2021. During that visit it was the talk of the town that the property was being sold and everyone was nervous about the new owner. Unfortunately, they were right. Meet the EOS group. A multi billion dollar investment hospitality group. Now I'm sure with their record they think $200/night for a dirt campsite is incredibly cheap and the ignorance is glaring. This was one of our favorite places when it was family owned. If you want to pay 3x what this place used to cost (which was still expensive for camping, but worth it) and you want your money to go to a group like that, that's your call. We'll be waiting until they realize it was a bad investment. Shame on them and sad the owners chose to sell in such a manner.

Tony H.

Yelp
A very nice site if you're "glamping". I came up with some friends for the Big Sur Marathon weekend. We had 2 RV site, & one of the sites near the river creek. They have power & water hook ups for your rv, the campsite has the cleanest bathroom areas I've ever seen at a campsite & you don't have to pay for the showers, washer & dryers are also onsite. There's a playground & basketball court as well. The area is in the forest around a lot of redwood trees so the temperature is fairly cool since a lot of the area is shaded. The campsite is in the side of highway 1 that's near the coast so you'll have to leave the campsite to do any hiking or trail exploring, but overall I had a great time here. During our visit the staff was friendly & helpful, hopefully that's the sign of improvement from what a lot of other reviewers have experienced in the past.

Mike A.

Yelp
Just got back from a recent trip to this place. The place is nice and very woodsy. We went with a group of 25 people (6 Rvs) and had a great time. The price is ridiculous though at nearly $200 a night. They offer "free" ice, coffee, and loaner inner tubes but at that price they can keep it. I heard it was recently sold and the new owner jacked up the price. Although it was a fun place I'm sure the place next door is equally as fun. Don't think I'll be going back to this place anytime soon as I don't like people to take advantage of their clients.

Mia L.

Yelp
We had an azmainf experience here. I booked again for November and it was $104 per night and now I'm looking at booking website before our trip and it's $75 a night for the same dates. DONT BOOK EARLY. Book when you're going if you're flexible that way. May save you hundreds.

Yelp
Well..good thing that I made a call and got this rude guy. I called to ask for availability to one of their RV campsite. He asked for the length of the RV. I am estimating around 26' to 28' . He rudely replied "until you know. I can't help you!" So I said 28",in which he can not help since I don't know and that I am guessing. So I hung up on him. No longer need to waste anymore time in research for this god awful place. I take my problems to Yelp and see maybe I can get a better idea. Hey I tried and this is always my last resource for help. I mean I am not a sadist wanting to be treated like shit. I get a better treatment at the four seasons than your flea and ticks infested campsites! Not sure why people think it's ok to be rude. All it very telling me is that your parents failed in raising a decent human being. After reading some good, bad and nasty reviews about this place. I think it's best to avoid it. I mean good god for a camp sites with zero refund policy and now shitty employee too. First impression very does stop you in your tracks. So my guy,You can keep your ego authority to a park. Not interested enough for that bullshit

Trisha R.

Yelp
Just got back from my second summer trip and had an amazing time. The campground is beautiful, the river is wonderful, the playground is a kids dream, and the bathrooms are incredibly clean. We were pleasantly surprised this summer by the free bundle of wood, free Inter tube usage, and unlimited ice. However, we were disappointed that the new owners do not have the soft-serve ice cream that my kids loved having after dinner. This would be a 5 star review, however when we went to book for next year we gasped at the new prices per night. We stay at the campsite for a week, which now will cost our family over $1200! That is astronomical for a campsite, especially with gas prices being so high for us to get there. While we we will be back, because we love this place... that's just a disappointment.

Mansoor F.

Yelp
Had the chance to experience the campsite (Tent) this weekend. The cost for camping is NOT cheap, $200 a night plus a resort fee. Now what i will say is that the amenities are pretty good. for their resort fee, they gave : - Free Coffee, Tea, and Hot Chocolate - Free ICE (ALL YOU WANT ) - One bundle of fire wood for each site - 2 coffee mugs - flash light - one pack of cards - access to the playground AND basketball court - use of their tubes for riding the river The campsites were small but manageable, overall it was a great stay. Its not feasible to do too many times as a weekend can easily cost over $500+ but it was a great place and very close to alot of great hikes, beaches, and beautiful scenary.

Amie F.

Yelp
Perfect getaway spot nestled in the gigantic trees by the river! We LOVED it here. There is nothing like falling asleep to the sound of rushing waters. We tented, but cabins look fun. Camp staff are super nice and they offer some fun amentities: ice cream, cocoa, snacks. The goody bag you get when checking in is fun. We love our mugs. The unlimited ice is awesome. We walked the camp to admire the trees and pick out spots we want to try next stay.

Krizia B.

Yelp
I'm v disappointed. My husband and I have been camping at this campground since 2007 and have loved making this our yearly retreat. The new ownership has increased the prices to an astronomical amount that makes no sense. Cabins are now $750 a night!!?? For that, stay at ventana. When I asked why the prices jumped from $300-400 to that I was told "well, it's Big Sur." No, sir. It's ridiculous. Tent sites went from $60-70 a night to $200?! For a TENT SITE. Make this make sense, guys. Oh, and a resort fee. The audacity. Fernwood here we come.

Michael M.

Yelp
Under New Management - Pretty Area - Prices are now obnoxious Nightly Rate RV Spot Summer $214 per night + Mandatory Resort Fee $ 25.00 1 Bundle of Wood, 1 Bag of Ice, 2 Camp mugs and 2 camp flashlights. Really now? Fernwood is looking better...

Vita L.

Yelp
Lots of places claim to be family-friendly. The best demonstration of this category is Legoland and Big Sur Campground. We stayed in a cabin but RVs and tents also filled the grounds. A creek wrapped around all of us creating a lazy river with shallow wading areas close to deep pockets where folks dive off the rocks and still not touch the bottom. The playground is epic. My kids (age 3 and 5) get up at 7am and we walked over to the playground to join all the other young, early risers. Ice cream is served with other snacks by the creek. You can rent inner tubes but I recommend bringing the lazy river riders. You could follow the current down around the bend, sip a drink, watch teenagers dive in the water and simply relax. Everyone was nice. The staff was exceptional. If you cross the bridge, keep left, and immediately go down hill, a trail will lead you past a church parking lot, over a creek and to a general store with snacks, marshmallows, beer and vegan sandwiches. The cabins are a basic shelter with two beds. Very nice but minimal. I would almost opt for a tent next time. Definitely a gem!

Stan Y.

Yelp
This place is dark and depressing. The prices are out of sight and customer service is poor. For example, we had 2 vehicles and only 3 people. The camp allows 5 people per site but our 2nd vehicle must pay for an extra person on top of the extra vehicle. This does not make sense. We ended up paying $145 per night for an RV spot with 2 vehicles and 3 people. The RV spots are tiny (barely fit our 24' trailer plus 2 vehicles.) my van was butt up against the picnic table. The dump station is atrociously outdated. We got really dirty using it. Etc,etc. Stay here as a last resort if nothing else is available.

Jeremy J.

Yelp
Stayed last weekend and was very impressed by the beauty, professional staff and cleanliness of the campground. Had tent site #17 right on the river and it was awesome. Would also recommend site #19 which is next door (also on the river). Staff was very friendly. Bathrooms and showers were immaculate and cleaned at least twice daily. Never saw a single piece of trash on the ground anywhere. Yes, it's off season but the campground was still nearly full if not at capacity. Also a bonus is free coffee daily and a short walking path across the bridge where you have access to a market and the Big Sur River Inn where you can grab a beer and sit in a chair in the river. Already booked a reservation to return next year....

Yelp
For those who elect to stay in a cabin, be mindful of the fact that there is no heat in some of the cabins. I booked through a third-party and was not informed the cabin we booked had no heat and required the use of a community bathroom. This was not evident in my reservation and it is not clearly evident on the website. It bottomed-out at 40 degrees in the evening/morning we stayed. We elected not to stay the second night as the accommodations were not habitable. When I attempted to get my money back for the second night, the property was unwilling to budge. Needless to say, I will not be returning and suggest that you contact the property directly to ensure you get what you pay for.

Yelp
This once wonderful campground has been sold to investors who hiked the price to heinous heights and has made it unattainable and out of reach to the average camper. For shame. After years of patronage, we will never return.

Yelp
Very disappointing!!! I booked a two-night stay in a 1-bedroom cabin for 400/night and thought it would be a good stay for this price. The cabin itself was nice and clean but the property is super cramped; cabins , tents, and RV's are essentially next to each other. 12 feet away from the bedroom window was a tent complete with dogs and overly cheerful people drinking vigorously. The campground had an amusement park/homeless encampment feel rather than one of a serene place in redwoods next to a river. I decided not to stay; I only had to drive for a couple of hours to get back home. I would feel much worse if I had to travel many hours to Big Sur just to end up in that place. The staff kindly refunded me for the second night.

Yelp
New owners have more than doubled their prices to $225 per night for a tent site. Absolutely laughable! They apparently need the rest of us to pay off the debt they have accumulated from their $28 million dollar purchase. Hope they drown in their debt and are forced to sell. Won't return until they do.

Yelp
BEWARE OF STOLEN FIREWOOD- Left my campsite and came back to firewood stolen. Other then that, expensive price but you're paying for the land that is the river and it includes a bundle of firewood, ice, 2 mugs, fire starter, light, and free coffee and tea with non-dairy milk.

Yelp
This place is way too expensive. $1200 for 2 nights on a weekday in October? Seriously? For that price you should get some much more. I'd expect a jacuzzi suite near a view for that price. Lower your prices to something that actually makes since for what you get.

Yelp
Great location, spots by the river are nice, excellent hot showers /laundry, love the morning complimentary coffee , dog friendly, only downside is the muddy roadways, it rained when we were there & it was a mess. The owners could pave or put more stone/sand down. We had spot 11 for our camper van.

Yelp
As a person who loves camping and a native Californian, I was a little disappointed, in Big Sur. We had not camped here in over 15 years and it's not quite how I remember. They're making big bucks cramming a lot of us into the small sites which are a challenge to drive any trailer or camper into, we spent about half an hour, helping two different campers get their rigs into 2 different sites. (one- way road, layout design...) We we're on top of each other, the sites are too close. And the extra fee to be on the river side, come on.! We are hardy hikers and the signage is horrible! I'm glad we went online before we arrived to see which trails were open or closed because you don't get that information when you're there. The sign is totally missing for Buzzards Roost. And the signage is totally off for Mt. Manuel, not to mention it is definitely not 8 miles round-trip. More like 10 miles with horrible unsafe trail conditions, landslides, thick poison oak. We finally bushed-whack ourselves back, glad we made it off the Hill! Oh , the showers are wasteful! It's like a fire hose for five minutes, my husband and I took a shower together. We felt sandblasted and thought what a poor waste of water resources. Otherwise great redwood environment, condor sightings and delightful birds.

Yelp
We had good time at this campsite. The kids play with other kids and the river is a huge plus. I would give it five stars but there are two drawbacks. First, it is loud. It has a family camp vibe and there are always a lot of kids in the playground during the daytime and evenings hours. It's fun, but don't expect to be sitting quietly in nature. The real problem is that as the evening goes on, some older kids and groups hang out and no one enforces quiet hours. Both nights we were there, it was really noisy until midnight. Second complaint is the price. If you can grab one of the larger sites and share, that would be more reasonable price-wise. It seems that a lot of people share sites, which probably contributes to the noisiness.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! The amenities are fantastic and the river running through is the cherry on top. Friendly staff and great food just down the road. Get here as fast as you can!

Yelp
One of the best campgrounds we've been too. We had cabin 102 with two bedrooms, enough to share with my son, daughter in law, and grandson. Campsites are very clean and amenable. The grandson loved the playground, basketball court, hullahoops, and riding around the camp with his daddy on their bikes. We plan on going next year and inviting more family. Big Sur is so beautiful, eye candy. We took a ride south on HWY 1 to see the elephant seals.
