What a great experience. The food was delicious and very filling. Kiana was our server and she was lovely, very friendly and attentive. Definitely save room for dessert, the chocolate pecan pie was next level. Definitely will be back with the whole family.

We were greeted as soon as we entered the restaurant, super friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was so helpful and kind. We ordered the deep fried pickles to start. Seemed like they used a cornmeal base for the batter, which created a super crispy shell. We also ordered the brisket platter with dirty rice and baked beans. Brisket was super tender. The baked beans were smokey with a hint of sweetness and the dirty rice was super flavourful. We also ordered the Lean Mean T’s salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was super moist and full of flavour. Loved the blackberry vinaigrette. Food came out not only fast but accurate, overall experience 4/5. Definitely worth a visit!

Omgoodnessssss! This place is amazing! It was our first time here, and we will definitely be back! Our server Mairi took such good care of us, she was super kind and had great food suggestions, and she was right the brisket is crazy good! Portions are massive and the menu is very reasonably priced. Thank you for the great service and amazing dinner tonight!

Went here with my 5 kids/teens last night and our server Danielle was great! She explained several things on the menu as it was our first time and we had questions she was attentive, and very nice. Food was great, most my kids ordered off the adult menu and everyone loved it. Already asking to come back next time we’re in Calgary. Brisket was tender and delicious. Will be back for sure.

Google
We had a fantastic meal here. I brought my two grandsons and they thoroughly enjoyed the poutine with brisket and brisket dinner. I had half rack of ribs which were absolutely delightful! It was stampede week so it was very busy and our server was great. The atmosphere was lively and entertaining. Big thumbs up from me.

Was in town and had a craving for some BBQ. I decided to check this place out with some friends. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the portion sizes were generous. Nice selection of sauces are provided with the meal. We will definitely be coming back for more.

Google
Very OK meal. Host was nice but our server had zero personality, seemed checked out - was borderline rude she seemed so unhappy to be there. Ribs were average, they provided 3 sauces and I tried all 3 and they were very basic, not very flavourful sauces. Hush puppies were good, but corn bread was so dry. I liked the spicy slaw, but it had the spice level of black pepper. Overall, an OK meal at an OK price. Surprised this place was on a TV show, definitely not memorable in any way.

Google
We ordered brisket today; however, we were disappointed to find that it was very charred and very dry. It was smelly as well so clearly it is not fresh. the quality of their orders has consistently been poor over the past few months. This has always been my go to place for brisket for the last 5years. I have been deeply disappointed by their poor meat quality lately and will definitely stop ordering at this place.

Yelp
Brisket is tender and seasoned well. Baby back is a little bit too salty for me. Corn bread is nice, warm and buttery I like it. Onion rings are crispy but something is off about the rings that I can't quite say, let's just say the onion rings are crispy but I wouldn't order it again here. Beer is okay, pretty average. We have experienced good service, our host is young and kind and is very patient in answering all of our questions. Lots of empty seats on a Friday night tonight but then again it's been raining since probably noon time today. So it's kinda quiet inside while we were there.

Yelp
The food was all right. But, not impressive. The staff were friendly as well. It was a good experience.

Yelp
Big T's is reliable. We have ordered takeout from here a ton, but I recently ate in-house, with a large group of people from out of town and realized that I had never left a review. I love the coleslaw which is tangy and vinegary and provides a nice contrast with the meats. If you are a meatloaf fan, theirs is done right and generous enough to make a sandwich the next day. Their platters are extremely well portioned and will feed a crowd, often giving enough for leftovers also. I like my cornbread sweeter than I find here (just personal taste) but I ADORE their hush puppies. The fried dill pickles are perfect and the baked beans have beautiful flavour as well. The meats are the star of course, and honestly, I have enjoyed everything I have tried (all of them). Eating out is getting increasingly expensive. Big T's still represents a good value for the amount of people you can feed and the food that you receive.

Yelp
Calgary BBQ Adventure ___________________________________ Smoky brisket, spicy catfish, and decadent cheesecake! While in Calgary we stopped by this restaurant to enjoy some BBQ. Located among the rows of hotels in the university area. Dinner was a delightful experience thanks to our host who was efficient and friendly. We enjoyed their smoked brisket dinner - 1/2 lb slow smoked beef brisket, and blackened catfish (Spicy) with corn on the cob, cornbread and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was more saucy than creamy, the roux lacked that delicious flavor I hoped for but still edible. I like to determine a good BBQ when the meat needs no sauce to accompany it. While the brisket was moist, tender and smoked a little more seasoning would have done the trick. However with the BBQ sauce it was a great combination. The cornbread was crumbly and ended up being more on the drier side. The catfish was amazing! It was seasoned and fresh. Superb! The cheesecake, decadent and smoky. Definitely worth ordering. The overall service was fantastic and food was brought out in a timely manner. Order: Sides: Corn on the cob, mac and cheese, cornbread Smoked Brisket Dinner 1/2 lb slow smoked beef brisket Blackened Catfish (Spicy) Sides: Corn on the cob, mac and cheese, cornbread

Yelp
Really tasty BBQ...I have sampled BBQ all over the US and this Canadian restaurant serves delicious BBQ. I sampled brisket, baby back ribs and Andouille sausage (had a nice spicy kick). Highly recommended.

Yelp
Hands down the best smoke house in Calgary, we generally go to the Big T's at the calgary farmers market, the 1/2 chicken and Mac and cheese with beans is my go to meal Brisket is perfectly cooked. KT is a rock star preparing the food

Yelp
The food here was pretty good. Although it wasn't exactly authentic Southern-style BBQ, it satisfied us plenty. We even took some home, so ordering a platter was a good idea; we ate lots with some leftovers. One thing, though: we ordered a fruit pie for dessert, and it wasn't very good: the crust was soft and mushy, the filling not very flavourful, but we didn't come here for the desserts, we came for the BBQ meats, and we were not disappointed. One thing that may prevent us from returning were the female serving staff: the man was okay, but the women were ... prickly I guess is the best word. They seemed more intent in getting us out of the way than greeting or serving us, and we couldn't help but feel a little unwelcome. But, in any case, we had a good dinner and look forward to the leftovers for tomorrow's lunch!

Yelp
So good! Good prices, great food and service! The meatloaf was amazing - portion sizes are perfect for a decent appetite!

Yelp
I have eaten here in the past, however this time was different, as I had experience with BBQ in Texas two weeks prior to my visit at Big T's BBQ. I ordered the Smoked Brisket Dinner, with my side being smashed potatoes and gravy. I thought it tasted like pot roast, and when compared to brisket in Texas, well I give Big T's a C+ for trying. I figured it was the festive season, so I tried out the Pumpkin Cheesecake, disappointing was the first word that came to mind. The cost of my meal as $30, and $8 for the cheesecake. There wasn't many people dining at Big T's, and eventually I was the only one left in the restaurant, time to exit.

Yelp
The prices have gone up 20 percent and the portion size has gone down 20 percent. We were the first table of the night on a weekday and there were 5 tables total while we were there. The service was ok but after she took our plates and asked if we needed anything else, which we declined, she let us sit there for nearly 20 minutes with no bill. We finally got up to pay at the counter since it was obvious she was done with us, and she didn't even apologize for deserting us. Probably won't go back, even though their food is fabulous.

Yelp
Being from the South, the brisket was amazing. Since being in Calgary it was great to finally find some good brisket. Service was top notch.

Yelp
Big T's BBQ & Smokehouse has been around for awhile. So glad I finally got to try this place. There are free parking in front of the restaurant. Good thing about this place is that it is located about 3 mins walking distance from Banff Trail CTrain station. Definitely was super convenient for me. I am a big fan of BBQ and especially with ribs and BBQ beef brisket. I came here during lunch time on a weekday so dining in wasn't much of an option because of work. I took the CTrain here and it took me about 20 mins to the restaurant and 20 mins back to work downtown. The lunch menu has some good options. They have sandwiches, meat platters, combos and etc. At the end of the day, I went with their "one meat combo" that came with two sides. I got the BBQ beef brisket, burgoo soup and marinated coleslaw. It also came with corn bread. I never really liked corn bread general. The restaurant was so thoughtful that they gave me butter to go with the corn bread. They also gave me two BBQ sauces to go with my meal: Maple Bourbon and Big T's BBQ sauce. I believe it came with only one sauce but they gave me two without any extra charge for the second one. So.... The BBQ Beef Brisket was tender. It did fall apart when biting into it. But it was not as good as Comery or Hayden. It is still 4 stars goodness. The Coleslaw was interesting. It was marinated in a vinaigrette dressing. The Burgoo Soup was the bomb. It is like a beef stew but made from BBQ beef brisket chunks. Yep. It was super flavorful and so far they have the BEST BURGOO SOUP that I have ever tasted. The Burgoo Soup is really 5 stars. The soup was super filling. It can be a meal for me just by itself. Well basically my entire lunch lasted the whole day, allowing me to skip dinner. Portion size was not bad. I would say they gave me between 1/2lb to ¾ lb of meat. I had my meal to go and I didn't have to wait too long for my food to be ready. The combo costed $19 and for what I was getting it was not bad. I highly recommend coming here and giving this place a try.

Yelp
Was in the Calgary Farmers Market location. Had a brisket on a bun. It was so good I forgot to take the photo. 2 pieces of corn bread for later.

Yelp
By golly this place is amazing!! I had smoked chicken breast and it was incredibly juicy and tender. Their portion sizes are also enormous...especially for the ribs (my friend had it and she absolutely loved it). Everything is perfect but the butter cake on the side is pretty random though. If you're a bbq aficionado this place is for you! So make sure you go there hungry! More on my IG: @annthefoodie

Yelp
I visit this authentic BBQ joint whenever I am in town. Always great food, craft beer on tap and excellent service. Even has blues playing in the background. Perfect.

Yelp
Tried the Airdrie location as it was on Skip the Dishes Over-cooked, tough & chewy ribs Ordered a half rack, got 4 or 5 ribs Won't try again

Yelp
Nearby Hotel, an easy walk to pick up dinner of Rib Ends, Green Fried Tomatoes, and a Caesar Salad. Wish they'd thrown in some BBQ sauce with rib ends, but I enjoyed them. FGT were a bit greasy, but hey, we're in Calgary, so I was still impressed to have them available. Caesar salad was a little strange: baby Romain lettuce not cut? But there was lots of bacon! The Bar Service lost one star because I asked for the special, and was told it was the horrible combination of a shot of Wild Turkey in a glass of tea. I asked to subtract the tea, and was just given the shot. Price increased!!!! Why? No reason, it's just the way it is! Wasn't worth making a big deal over, but did lose a star in the review: maybe they'll think about it for a second next time?! Atmosphere wasn't great: no music, bright lighting, "family restaurant" with bar?

Yelp
My wife and I love BBQ, so since this restaurant was right next to our hotel we thought we would try it. Did takeout due to COVID. I had a 1/2 rack of ribs with spicy coleslaw, hush puppies and baked beans. The baked beans were excellent. The ribs were good. The coleslaw was fine and my wife loves the hush puppies. She also had a gluten free bun with brisket. The brisket was very good, though a bit salty. Fries were pre-seasoned and OK. Price was OK - perhaps a bit on the high side. Wish they had provided more napkins and perhaps towelettes for the ribs. All-in-all it was good.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere, smell and feel of an old southern bbq joint yet modern and clean. Staff was amazing!! (Shout out to Amy). One pitmaster to another my hat's off to you Big-T!! The Memphis Style Baby-backs were awesome, moist, tender & great smoke flavor. Just a hint if Spicy and sweet to them, no sauce needed for these bad boys!! Brisket was on point, perfectly cooked juicy and tender. The rub was probably not what I would call traditional but it was damn good. The hints if cinnamon came through and really complimented things nicely. Dirty rice was very good, the beans were definitely done from scratch and had a great body & flavor to the. Slightly sweet for it taste but I didn't come here for sides!! I'm STUFFED and will definitely be back next time I visit Calgary.

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday night after picking up the kids from school. Good thing too as the food and and service were great. It was our first time here. It was pretty busy but they were able to seat us with a few tables left. Kids had the Mac n Cheese from the kids meal which includes one side. My daughter chose poutine and my son chose steamed vegetables. Both good portions. Macaroni a little small though. I had the burger with fries and green salad. Awesome! Meat was so moist. The spicy ranch for the salad was great. Wife chose the double order of short ribs with side salad. Meat came off the bone very easily and oh so tender. She got the original bbq sauce which enhanced the flavour. They didn't have my first choice of beer but was able to accommodate my second choice. Kids had milk which includes one refill. Kids also had choice of ice cream with chocolate sauce or jello. Both pretty good. Server was great and answered all our questions and came by enough times. Atmosphere is not too loud so can carry on a conversation. Will definitely come back if I'm in the mood for BBQ instead of Montana's which was our go to place before.

Lucy B.

Yelp
Really high quality BBQ. Great service. For lunch, we barely waited for anything. Solid playlist. Totally recommend!

Melissa P.

Yelp
Will never eat at that location again. The service was absolutely the poorest I have ever seen. Our waitress was rude so unfriendly and you could see that she does not wanted to be there and jist the her customers out of the way. Her customer service was lacking patience and overall friendliness. She was there to get our drinks and did not even ask if I wanted something else. She just brought my 1st drink order repeatedly without asking If I wanted something else. I had to tell her i do not want anything else neither did I even ask for a second drink. We asked for time to look through the menu as it was our 1st time ever at the restaurant and on the website it really looked good and pleasing to the eye. But biggest dissapointment ever. After we got our food she was no where in site to be found and my husband could not even order another drink. We waited almost 45 min for her after I had to go and look for her. She would rather stand and twirl her hair and make yes at the manager and not pay attention to her customers.
google avatar

Yelp
Massive portions. Meat and more meat. Not really the place to bring your vegetarian friends but if you do, the deep fried dill pickles and hush puppies are to die for. Had the Gut Buster sandwich ($18.50) which consists of a hoagie bun loaded with cheese, jalapeños, brisket, pulled pork, andouille sausage, and topped with caramelized onions. Save room for dessert. The Smoked Maple Cheesecake was out of this world.

Loiree J.

Yelp
All the meats were overly dry and salty, and the cornbread was bland. This place is a very poor example of 'real' Southern BBQ, only hanging on from the nearby tourists and drunk sports fans.
google avatar

Raymond R.

Yelp
How in the world can this restaurant justify charging 13.50 for a LADEL of soup? And what about a completely bland and flavourless Mac and cheese. Almost 60 bucks spent on less than 2 plates of food and not very good food at that. What a ripoff! Never ordering from these thieves again.
google avatar

Anthony S.

Yelp
"Genuine Southern" BBQ" in Calgary? Its April 19 and its snowing! Like Al Gore, they misjudged global warming I guess. This is pretty good bbq. Brisket is very tender with nice smoke flavor (with Canadian Alder, nice touch). Lots of rib choices, but I did not try. Andouille sausage was fine. Onion rings crispy and not too greasy. EXCELLENT mustard BBQ sauce. Cord bread moist, but slightly sweet, Beans and slaw are nothing special. This BBQ place could survive Northwest of Kentucky in most US states.
google avatar

Tam P.

Yelp
From the moment you step in you are welcomed with the sweets aroma of cedar wood and very clean, mid century modern decor. We got the Big T share meal and it was packed full of delicious meats. The service was great and so was the atmosphere. I will be back to try our the brunch menu next time.

Yelp
They've renovated since I've first visited. It suits the BBQ smokehouse theme. It's a smaller restaurant but not too loud or congested. There was a decent line up and we were told the wait would be 45 minutes, but it ended up being only a 10 minute wait. The service was quick and the food came fast, which kept the line moving faster than they said. The prices are reasonable. A platter for $43 will feed two people. It's definitely a place for the meatatarian. You get an assortment of brisket, chicken, pulled pork and ribs, with a side of coleslaw and beans. So that said it's a decent place for the amount and quality of food. It's nothing that stands out anymore than a Montana's restaurant though. It was featured on the show You Gotta Eat Here, and they made sure to advertise that in their menu. They also offer a bucket with a trio of sauces to add to your dish, which is nice if you want to mix flavours but they are chilled so it throws off having a hot dish of BBQ'd meat. The server was great, very friendly and personable.

Yelp
We brought 20 international students to Big T's to experience Alberta BBQ. Happy to say that everyone was impressed and left stuffed. We ordered a big platter filled with fries, chicken, sausage, ribs, pulled pork and brisket. My favourite dishes were: BBQ chicken (moist and tender) and brisket (soft and fatty). The ribs were tasty as well. Cornbread was fresh and still warm. Service was friendly and attentive. Our group got to experience Calgary's western hospitality. Thanks for leaving such a great impression on our group!

Lyle M.

Yelp
Was just craving ribs. Did not care if it was going to take 3 hours or more, I just wanted ribs. All to find out, Big T cancelled our order because they got "too busy".
google avatar

Yelp
I'm from Kentucky and was thrilled to find a Southern restaurant featuring many of the distinctive dishes of my region, including fried green tomatoes, barbecue sandwiches and a wonderful stew called burgoo. First the good stuff--the staff are helpful, kind and are somewhat knowledgeable about the food. The brisket had a decent smoke flavor and the sauces were not too sweet. The coleslaw is sharp and crisp, unlike the gloppy stuff you see elsewhere. But the rest of the side dishes didn't really work. Fried green tomatoes were a ball of dough with a mediocre sauce. Burgoo was not anything like that which is served in western Kentucky, since it tasted like it had a bottle of Kraft bbq sauce thrown in. Also I found the room dirty. Maybe a trip to the south would help these owners?

Yelp
Had brunch here with some friends on a snowy December Sunday. We came when they open and were the only table. Since I was meeting up with the gf for food in an hour or two, I decided to get the smallest brunch item which ended up being amazing. The breakfast sandwich with brisket for $6 is unbeatable. My friends ordered the southern eggs benny for $14 and basically got the same amount of food as I did. The brisket was tender and tasty with the supplied bbq sauce on the side. The egg was runny and the coleslaw/hash browns on the side were solid. I ended up with a full belly and found probably one of the most amazing value brunch item in Calgary.

Yelp
Big T sells 'man' sandwiches, and so it is that men come here in their 4x4s to stoke up on braised brisket, big burgers, bbq ribs & classics, crowded platters and beer. I've tried Big T at the Calgary Farmer's Market a few times, and decided to go to the McMahon Stadium site to see if their menu holds up. It does, and best you bring a big appetite with you? Had their Smokey Southern Melt, and with melted mozzarella and strong bbq sauce on the side, and a dish of their thick molasses baked beans. Man, but man, man food indeed. Ain't kinda dainty like donairs, Viet subs, Subway drek or Thai wraps, but 'tough and mean' at the same time as tender and tasty. In truth, I have always thought the meat could be spicier, have more zap, but have to remember that Calgary is not the deep south after all (snow on Sept. 12 this year!): likely this resto owner also caters to the relatively-bland taste buds of the average Canadian. All their ingredients distinctly add to the flavour, and the bread they use, although white, easily holds this big sandwich together. Kinda nice to not have it soak through or fall apart like so many cheap burger buns in this city. I asked the cooks about their burgers, and they told me honestly that IF a customer likes smoked hamburger meat, they are very good. Kinda neat not to be told that everything on the menu is excellent. Nonetheless, get over to any of their restos to check out a 'man' meal that's signature to a 'muscle' appetite (they have a branch in Deer Ridge too). Big T it is, mon! Okay?

Yelp
How can you not love a place where the staff wear shirts that say "I like my butt rubbed?" lol (I am assuming that they're referring to the meat, but I don't know what people may be into. . . I'M NOT JUDGING ANYONE!) My work has had Big T catered lunches before and they've always been meh. I honestly think it's harder to keep a huge amount of food at the right temperature so their food isn't represented to it's full potential. Having a craving for ribs, a group of us decided to try Big T's. The fact that none of us had been here was a bit of a surprise, but awesome that we'd all be able to try something new together! I'm forewarning you that I didn't get any healthy veggies whatsoever, so my meal was very monochromed - ribs with mashed potatoes, corn bread and onion rings. But was very robust with flavor! And the housemade BBQ sauces that they brought out to the table complimented the food really well. My fave would have to be the Carolina Mustard. I'm glad I gave this place a try, it'll definitely go on my list of BBQ places to hit up should I ever have another craving for ribs!

Mandy D.

Yelp
I've enjoyed previous visits to Big T's but our meal last weekend disappointed. Having spent some years in Texas, brisket is my favourite bbq meat; it sets the standard. On this latest visit the brisket, though very tender and well flavoured, was sliced incorrectly making it more like a pulled pork texture, with long, slightly chewy strands of meat. Brisket should be sliced in 1cm slices across the grain. This gives a denser slice that holds nicely together, hopefully capped with some good fat, which gets cut by a tasty sauce. Extra staff training is needed here in the kitchen. Serving staff were excellent as always. By the way, don't bother with the lemon meringue pie - but why would you? - it's a bbq joint!
google avatar

Alex A.

Yelp
Exactly as advertised. Southern style BBQ and Smokehouse food at extremely reasonable prices, staff was friendly. I shared the deep fried pickles with the person I was with, and they had the chilli for their main course while I had one of their burgers -- both dishes were very enjoyable. Cheesecake and chocolate cake for dessert. Ultimately, the good quality food and reasonable prices are what pushes this to 4 stars -- a shared app, 2 meals and 2 desserts and soft drinks was only around $60.

Yelp
Really good experience at Big T's overall. The hostess, backed by a completely full house, told us that it would likely be 45 minutes. We opted to risk the wait and were pleasantly surprised after being seated after only 14 minutes. I opted to try the meatloaf after seeing that it was featured on "You Gotta Eat Here!". It didn't disappoint. It was flavourful, juicy, and delicious. The cornbread was pretty dry, but I don't expect much from cornbread. For dessert, I tried the apple cobbler - the crumble was very dry and was more like just oats sprinkled on apples. Our server was not attentive at all, leaving the host and a supervisor to bring us refills of our beverages. When we were paying the bill, she would actually look away from us, instead of attempting to engage in any conversation. That being said, the other staff were extremely friendly! and the food, overall, was delicious. Make sure you check it out.

Yelp
Anybody who gives this place less than 5 stars is insane. This is the best bbq I've had in Alberta and let me tell you I love meat more than a pornstar on paydays. Giant platters, great service, free parking and really friendly. If you're hungry I'd get the Elvis Platter. If you're not hungry I'd go with the Elvis platter and take some home. So get your bbq on at BIG T's.

Yelp
Went here with old Freind last night. She had brisket sandwich and I had brisket melt. Don't think I got the brisket melt name right. It was brisket onions peppers and cheese on a roll. Very good. Amber liked her sandwich a lot too. And it smells so good in there. It was very busy so the room was a bit too chaotic and loud to enjoy it the best. And they give you bottles of sauce to add. These are also good. But they were not labeled. And even though I asked which was which, I quickly forgot. So I don't know which one I liked

Yelp
We went with our family of 5. Amazing service Great atmosphere for both a place I would take my family and watch a ball game with buddies. I had the Big T brisket burger and it was top notch. Brisket was cooked right and the hush puppies where perfect. We will be coming back again.
google avatar

Kelly J.

Yelp
I have been driving by this place for years wondering if it was worth the stop. Having lived in Texas for 5years it was going to be hard pressed to meet my standards. However, all in all it didn't do too bad and I will be back to try it again. I shared a $45 meat platter with a friend and it was pretty darn good besides the cornbread. The brisket was a bit dry but with a little splash of their sauce it was much better. The cornbread was extremely dry (days old) and should not have been served. The meat was well smoked and tender and I recommend the pulled pork and ribs. Prices were pretty steep but hey it's Calgary.

Yelp
All I can say is wow. Man these Calgarians must be spoiled to not give this place 5 stars! Faux BBQ ma azz. I saw this place on "ya gotta eat here tv show" (google it) so i wanted to check it out. I have tried a lot of BBQ places and even made a few good ribs myself, and bones down this is the best beef ribs I have EVER had. The smoky goodness never stopped coming and the succulent tenderness is there right down to the bone. Their maple bourbon sauce and rubs were bang on. Yes the service is a bit slow and the girls run ragged, but the place is busy. Also the fries were awesome as was the coleslaw. I didn't care for the corn bread, but I don't no matter were I go. The beans were really good to. Compared to this place Montana's beef ribs are a single star. Ya gotta eat here!

Yelp
Ordered delivery of brisket and ribs. The meat was great, however the sides were less that perfect. The cornbread was dry and bland. The potato salad was boring and under seasoned and the hush puppies were humdrum. Won't order again.

Yelp
First looks at the area around 'motel village' in Calgary led me to believe that the food basically got better the further away you got. On a lazy evening mid-trip, I'm glad I didn't call an Uber to run away, but instead walked over to Big T's. The bartender was lovely, the beer was cold, and the food hit the spot. It's not Jack Daniel's Invitational level BBQ, but it was definitely better than you would expect from such an unassuming strip mall joint. I don't think any trip to Canada is complete without Poutine, so I was pleased to discover that not only could I get Poutine here, I could get it with pulled pork on top and have a delicious local dark Saison to wash it down. For the Poutine, the fries were crispy and well salted, the gravy was smooth and savory, the curds were melty and didn't overwhelm the pork, and the pork itself was moist and flavorful. I would've liked some more smoke character on the pork, and personally I love when I get a bit of dry bark on smoked meat, which unfortunately did not happen. As for the sauces, the mustard was tangy and played off the pork deliciously, but I definitely liked the hot best. I was in the mood to hang out at a bar, mindlessly watch some sports, and enjoy a tasty bite. Big T's took care of all of that. If you're on this side of the city, you should definitely give them a try.

Yelp
Pulled pork was dry(tasted like old microwaved leftovers) same with the cornbread. The brisket wasn't bad but the ribs was less than average. You would think that the meat would be the best part for a restaurant that calls itself a bbq and smokehouse. Even the pop was watered down. It was disappointing to wait that long for overpriced average tasting food and there was nobody even in there lol It was just an annoying experience overall.

Yelp
Stopped in with the family for dinner and received a warm welcome, promptly seated, and the server wasted no time offering to get our order started. She took time to explain local favourites from the menu and answered all questions. Now onto the food - DELICIOUS! Even the kids cheeseburger was great (my wife tried it) and we had both the St.Louis Ribs, & Pulled Pork. Sides were great too (even the homemade mash with gravy was a stand out item). Also loved the bucket of other BBQ sauce flavours that get brought to your table. This is what good BBQ tastes like.

Yelp
Vegetarians beware! Seriously. If you don't like meat, don't go to Big T's! I was almost sick after leaving my meal at Big T's. Not because I don't like meat or because the food was bad or anything like that, but because I saw and ate so much meat it's enough to make anyone sick, even the strongest of carnivores. I went in with a group and actually ordered a group meal. They brought out a giant platter of all these different kinds of barbecued meat. There was different smoked meat, chicken, ribs, and pulled pork. It was served with a bunch of fries and other sides, like salad and potatoes. It was just enough for the four of us, but I was with two other girls and one boy. If it were all big eaters, we would have needed something a little extra. If you are a meat-lover, you will most definitely LOVE Big T's. They know their meat, and they serve it well.

Yelp
I'd be lying if I said that Big T's appearance on You Gotta Eat Here wasn't the driving force behind our visit to the restaurant a few months ago. My fella also loves him some BBQ, so I surprised him one day by taking him here. Our server was delightful, though the food was slow coming out. There was only us and one other family in the place, so we didn't anticipate waiting so long. Good things do come to those who wait! But by the time the food came out, we had polished off a pitcher, and were kind of beer-full. I know, I know, we're grown ups, I swear. We started off with the fried pickles. My theory about fried pickles is that they all taste the same. They really do. No matter where you go, if they're serving fried pickles, they will take like the next place's fried pickles. I am waiting for someone to prove me wrong. My fella had the ribs with slaw and hush puppies (aka dinner donuts), and I had a chicken burger. We were so stuffed by the end! The fella loved his ribs. My chicken burger was good too. I was especially pleased at all the sauce options. I do love a good sauce. The thing is, the food was kind of expensive for what it was. No deep fried pickle is worth $11, folks. This place is worth a try, and we'll probably go back one day. It wouldn't be the first place I would recommend, but I would not warn anyone away.
