Cool caravan holidays to bring the family on - SilverKris

"This family-focused rainforest campsite near the Great Barrier Reef offers al fresco living with roomy hookups for Maui Motorhomes (complete with built-in barbecue pits) and family comforts like a giant LCD for movie nights. Kids are well catered for with giant jumping pillows, a splash park, an outdoor cinema and a mini golf course, while parents can enjoy local wine and outdoor cooking. Nearby day trips include the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway to Kuranda for elevated rainforest views out to the Coral Sea, and a drive north to Port Douglas and its iconic Four Mile Beach for palm-lined white sands." - SilverKris

Big4 Cairns Coconut was a very good choice for a short getaway for myself (70yo) my daughter (46yo) and my grandson (5yo). There were suitable activities for all of us. We stayed for 3 nights and the total cost was $1091 which was good value considering all the activities and facilities available. It was great to have our own cooking facilities in the 2br 1bathroom Luxury Villa. We also appreciated having a front deck area to sit when we weren't out at activities. My grandson enjoyed the gardens which made him feel more at home. The negatives I found were uncomfortable mattresses on the bunk beds, 2 cockroaches, and quite dated decor for the price. However it was adequate for our needs and the layout of the rooms was very good. The reception area/office seemed to always be very busy and at one point I felt the stress of the person serving me there... like I was a nuisance with my minor request. I was quite glad I made my booking online and got all my info from the website. Overall though the service was good and it was handy to have a small shop in the park for occasional items. We didn't need to leave the park for our whole visit. We plan to go back to Cairns Coconut, hopefully for an annual getaway.

We previously stayed 8 years ago and had recommended to everyone we met. This visit there were a few changes, which may be good for some and not as good for others. The splash water park has been renewed and was great. The whale slide in the lagoon pool looks grimy and dated. There is a new snack drink shack which is a good addition though seems to emphasise alcohol. Adventureland minigolf and bounve areas were all amazing, unfortunately the NEOS was out of order the whole time we were there. The restaurant/shop staff were incredible though food choices were limited to fast food, would be good to have sone vegetables, salads and fruits on tge side. The pizza and burger were a hit with the kids. Again there was an emphasis on alcohol. The range and variety of foods were much better 8 years ago. Cabins are much the same. The biggest dissapointment was the loss of the shuttle servive which was an amazing link into Cairns especially to be able to attend booked activitues and tours and still enjoy the amenities back at the park. Overall the amenities for families are great and a welcome escape for families with a busy holiday schedule. Ideal if you have a car or are travelling through, withoit the shuttle service and range of healthier options at cafe, i would opt for somewhere in the city for our next visit.

What an awesome place to stay. The park is clean, well maintained, and has a great relaxed holiday vibe. The pools and facilities are fantastic, especially for families, and there’s plenty to do without feeling overcrowded. Great free holiday program for the kids, we felt safe and with the bar and cafe there is no reason to leave! Staff are friendly and helpful, the grounds are spotless, and everything feels well organised. It’s close enough to Cairns to be convenient, but far enough out to be peaceful. Great facilities, great atmosphere, and a really enjoyable stay. Would happily come back and highly recommend it. Can’t wait to rebook.

This is definitely the place for family holiday. This holiday park offers Different types of villas and accommodation options. Fully furnished and everything to make your stay comfortable. It has a restaurant and shop on the grounds and family activities in the afternoon with great food and cocktails. There is a play area, movie night outside on grass, put-put. Swimming pool with slides, another swimming pool for the whole family and and amazing swimming play pool for the little ones. Tennis court, basketball court. Huge Jumping pillows. 2 big Laundry facilities. A few BBQ facilities. And so much more. I highly recommend this place.

We went there this year for Easter (April, 2025)… words are not enough to describe how much we loved it!! BEST BIG 4 in AUSTRALIA (we have been to many, believe me!). We were there with our 2 boys (5 and 7 yrs). So many kids’ activities, from free pancake morning to snorkelling lessons, ice cream competition, glass sculpting, the magician, movie night, also the pools were fantastic..there was even a kids’ spa. Something for everyone. Also a special thanks to the behind the scenes people i.e. the cleaners, gardeners, maintenance people, to keep this facility so clean. You guys obviously work so hard to keep the property immaculate. We will be back next year (Easter 2026). The ones reading this review.. what are you waiting for? Book a holiday now. Trust me you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend and yes 10/10. Can’t wait to be back! Bibha and Abhishek (From Melbourne)

Big4 Cairns Coconut is the best caravan park I’ve ever been to. We spent 12 days with our family, and the park offers a wide range of activities to suit everyone’s. The villa we stayed in was spacious and comfortable, and the park was surprisingly quiet considering the number of people. The waterpark and slide were the highlights for the kids.

Great caravan park with tons to do for kids. Loved our stay and this was even though it rained almost every day. Wet season, what can you do. Had fun with the mini golf, laundry facilities were great and the rest we'll have to check next time.

Lots of activities to keep kids busy and parents can join in or just chill and enjoy time out in hot or cold spa. Not too far off from Cairns City so hassle free commuting. Facilities well kept, serviced by friendly staff. Great time out with kids for no apparent reason but just fun. Definitely do again
