Great Big 4 in an awesome location, close to the beach and ‘The Nut’. Clean and tidy rooms, high pressure shower with quick hot water. Soap provided in bathroom and shower. Smart TV where you can use your logins for evening television if you want. Children slept well in the bunks, adult bed very comfortable too. 30 second walk to see the penguins at night. Supermarket right next door, but if you are staying for longer than one night, maybe shop at Coles in Burnie before heading to Stanley.

Absolutely gorgeous caravan park, perfectly located right on the beach. We stayed in a self-contained camper van but still used the amenities, which were spotless and well maintained — loved the complimentary floor mats in the bathrooms, such a nice touch. One of the highlights was the penguins! They literally come up the stairs and wander into the caravan park. You will definitely see them, but it’s really important to keep your distance — unfortunately we saw some silly tourists getting right up in the chicks’ faces while the parents were out fishing. Please respect the wildlife so they continue to return. The location is fantastic: an easy walk to local cafés, beautiful coastal walks, beaches, and the Nut, all with stunning views. It’s a gorgeous seaside town with stars on either side of the peak — truly special. The staff were super lovely and even gave us a choice of a couple of sites. The camp kitchen looked tidy and well set up. There’s a small but nice playground and a games room; table tennis requires coins or you can get rackets from reception. We also noticed kids’ craft activities in the office. The scavenger hunt was a big hit with our kids — they thoroughly enjoyed completing it and colouring in. Overall, a beautiful, family-friendly park in an unbeatable location. We would absolutely stay again.

Lovely park, very quiet and right on the beach. At night the little penguins come back to nest! The water is crystal clear and shallow for ages. The showers are plentiful with foot towels for hygiene - very much appreciated. Again, coins only for laundry- this is a problem all over Tasmania! Camo kitchen was small but adequate. Will definitely return.

Very friendly staff on arrival. Lovely full hookup campsite on a concrete pad right next to the ocean. We visited to see the penguins and were not disappointed. At dusk they showed up right next to our campsite. There is a walkway with dim red lights so that you can see them arrive. Bathrooms nice and clean. There is a dump station available.

December 2025 in a caravan. You can see the pictures, lovely place. Now the reason for the review: Scenario - I am packing up preparing to leave, conducting a walk around the caravan and notice the right side suspension pivot pin 90%out. I go to reception and ask for directions to the nearest place that has the ability to assist. Response: RICK - groundskeeper, brings his tools. Over the next hour, politely and respectfully reassembled the suspension, checks both sides, identifying that the nut holding the left pivot pin is also loose. Gives me directions to the auto shop and when I come back with a mechanic (who was buying something from the shop at the same time) is helpful. He and the mechanic walk me through how to repair this ‘next time’. Both refuse payment for a ‘simple fix’. It you are travelling around Tasmania, visit Stanley. If staying in Stanley, stay at the Big 4 caravan park. Service, attitude, location, setup, all great. If something goes wrong - lifesaving!

Great location to explore the Nut. Towels in bathrooms is a nice idea. We did enjoy the camp kitchen. Check in was a bit rushed and did not feel welcoming. This park should really consider a no pet policy to protect wildlife. Way too many dogs and people walking them even in areas where they should not. Also saw some off leash in park.

Out of our 2.5 week trip around Tassie, this was by far the best caravan park we stayed at. We got a water view cabin and it was absolutely gorgeous, the view was amazing! Beautiful location, with a great view of the nut. Amenities were superb and very clean - as well as a games room for kiddies (we don’t have kids but we had a play of air hockey while waiting for our washing!) at night time there was penguins waddling around the site which was amazing! Couldn’t fault this big4 at all! Will definitely be back when we come on another Tassie tour!
