Small bu free campsite right beside the highway and very close to the Catwalk National REcreational Area, Pit Toilet is very clean with toilet paper but no garbage bins. You have to take your grbage out. Need to get there early, othewise a site is not guaranteed.

Been coming here for a few years now, always been pleasant (but hot this last time) Cocoa's back, looking well..other campers here, and #6 doesn't have the privacy I had at #3 but has better late day shade

Nondescript little free campground. Pretty clean pit toilet. Closest free campground to the Catwalk. It's very close to the Catwalk. When I stayed, javelinas came out when the sun went down. They came for the trash someone left in the firepit. They wanted the black bananas. I got in my van and closed the doors. I don't mess with javelinas.

Great free campsites. I think there are 6. We stayed in 2 which was good for our 32 ft trailer. Nice trees for shade next to a dry creekside and many birds to watch and hear. Saw deer too. Will come back whenever in this area. Lots to do with the Cat Walk and Mogollon ghost town.

Hard to imagine the USFS “wisdom” behind locating a campground right next to a highway. And being on the outskirts of town, you also get to enjoy the non-stop barking dogs. Regret my decision to stay here.

Very nice basic no-fee campground with a vault toilet, probably not taken care of right now due to the government shutdown. A bar in walking distance.

Nice low key campsite right off the road. Only six sites, currently here on a Wednesday and it’s full. Level campsites and one vault toilet. Even though it’s close to the road the road is pretty quiet at night. Don’t forget to look up after dark. The Milky Way was visible out here before 9pm. Beautiful.

We spent a night here as we were visiting the Catwalk, which is a short drive up the road and we didn’t want to drive a long distance after a long hike. The campground was nicely shaded and all spots were mostly level. The campground is by a highway so traffic during the day was a little noisy but over night after about 9pm it was very quiet except for an occasional car so we slept pretty comfortable.
