The ladies were wonderfully friendly with big smiles for 7am when I walked up. I got the lemon scones which was gluten free but don't let this question it's plausibility of deliciousness. It was indeed creamy and tasty as mentioned in other reviews. I also got the popover. I did feel it was just slightly overdone on the outside but was still moist and delicious minus a little bitter in the bottom crust. Got the coffee cake too but saving that for later. Beautiful Cyprus and garden area and view down the boardwalk.

The pastries here are very tasty and fresh, we loved everything we tried. The wait was on the longer side (15 minutes to order, 10 minutes to receive hot food) but we heard that’s unusual.

Google
We stopped by this charming little bakery on a friend's recommendation, and it definitely lived up to the hype! My boyfriend tried the coffee cake, and it was absolutely amazing. I had the lemon scone—it was warm and fluffy. Even my boyfriend, who usually isn't a fan of scones, said it was the best one he's ever had! We both agreed: this is a must-visit spot!

Google
Nice little bakery with several gluten free options — in their own case, even! Fun to watch all the kitchen stuff in the background. Only critique is the wait — it can be kinda long and isn’t super organized. The way the ramp is set up requires those leaving to squeeze past those waiting. But the actual food was quite tasty and delicious.

Google
Best breakfast I've been to in a while. Their veggie quiche was wonderful and so was everything else we ate. The atmosphere was delightful; Outdoor seating that was clean and quaint with beautiful succulents.

Google
Beautiful place to relax for cafe and 🍞 my coffee cake was delicious 😋

Google
5/18/24. I bought a large mocha latte and a strawberry scone. Total came out to about $13.00. The scone was dry and did not have strawberries. The display scones looked good but the one I got was not comparable. The latte was okay but I’ve had better from the other coffee shops near by. Don’t recommend.

Google
Although I only really go for one item , their Yorkshire pudding.. no pudding lol but yeah I love them! The other pastries are great , my go to is the popovers. Very nice staff. Pick up and go sit by the bluffs

Yelp
Surprisingly small stall with a surprisingly large, and very quaint seating area.  The quiches were our favorite of the bunch of the breads here were fantastic as well. If you don't have time for a local restaurant or like eating something quick before starting your day instead, I would definitely recommend this place while staying in Cayucos/the surrounding area. Its a quick walk to the beach and antique stores.

Yelp
Stopped in to try their popovers. It was tasty although I prefer when they are hot out of the oven. Tried the scallion butter and would prefer a different butter. I think they use standard salted butter. I'd prefer unsalted. I got a cup of coffee and the flavor was good but the cup leaked from the bottom before I finished drinking it!! This has never happened to me! I think they should look into getting their cups from a different source. I am including photos of the cup!

Yelp
I had to come in when I saw all the pictures of the popovers filled with pudding. Unfortunately, the popovers when I came did not have any filling in them but came with honey butter. The combo was good and I got some other baked items like a blueberry muffin, coffee cake, and crossiant. We ordered an americano and matcha tea latte to go. Overall, everything tasted okay, not great and not bad. If you're in the area, it's nice to get something but I wouldn't make the trip out here just for it. They have outdoor seating adjacent to the bakery that was very nice and accommodating to enjoy your items on the spot . We came with our 3 pups and the ladies were so sweet and gave them a treat. The service was great with prime location to the water.

Yelp
Wow, the pastries are so fresh, soft, and full of flavor. The quiches are also great, very fluffy. It is with the drive to come for breakfast.

Yelp
So many lovely and tasty breads / sweets. Cute little shop w outside seating. Very accommodating girls behind the counter.. I'll drive 39 miles for their Popovers

Yelp
We had seen this place before so today was the day to try it out. It's a small place with pastries. I ordered a croissant, my husband chose a blueberry muffin. My croissant was tasty and flaky, yum. There isn't a big selection and lots of things have nuts. My husband didn't have too many choices because he has a nut allergy and so his choices were limited. But its a cute spot to pick up something sweet.

Angela A.

Yelp
Delightful bakery with several gluten free and vegan options. The latte was on point and the lemon scone brought me back every morning I was in town - perfectly light, airy and delicious. The outside patio had the right vibe with good music while not playing too loud. I loved everything about this gem.

Yelp
Best pastry selection on the central coast. Popovers were fabulous. Choice of sweet or savory butter to wash it down with! Matcha tea was excellent

Janet G.

Yelp
Every time we go to or through Cayucos, we have breakfast at Bijou!! DELICIOUS blueberry muffins, morning buns, quiche and popovers!!! I am happy that the bakery is not in my hometown because I would weigh too much !!!

Pat D.

Yelp
Great staff, beautiful spacious patio that is dog friendly . Great selection of teas and coffee and pastries we tried were excellent . Special bijou savory bun and strawberry scone with butter

Yelp
A Visit to Bijou Bakery in Cayucos is so worth a visit!! Their almond Croissant is melt in your Delicious! Their scones are my personal favorite!! I Love their texture, their flavor , they are super yummy. I do enjoy their Vivian gluten free cookie. Usually they have them on Friday Visit Bijou next time you're in Cayucos !! You won't be disappointed!!

Yelp
So delicious! I love the GF Lemon scone and the GF Vanilla canale'. My son and girlfriend loved the popover. Will def return!

Cynthia M.

Yelp
Lovely spot. They have an open patio, delicious treats, and very friendly service! It's a great pit stop in Cayucos
google avatar

Yelp
What an amazing spot! We drove from Paso Robles just to try this bakery. Grabbed a lemon scone and blueberry muffin and walked to the beach. Muffin was outstanding. My scone was flavorful but was slightly off in texture. Nothing to complain about I still enjoyed it. Coffee was delicious ! Will be back many more times in the future.

Yelp
Excellent, go here only once a year and it has always been awesome!!! Love anything they make - especially Savory!!!

Monica G.

Yelp
First time we tried this today! Why did I wait soooo long!? BEST coffee cake EVER! Also had a blueberry muffin and a popover with honey butter and scallion butter. I decided to try both butters and I can say I'm not sure which one I liked best with the popover, both were amazing! Give it a try, it will not disappoint. The girls who work there were very nice and helpful being it was our first time. Cannot wait to go back!
google avatar

Helen L.

Yelp
Cute place and you walk up to order. Table and seats outside. Popovers $5. Reminds me of Cliff House cafe that had the best popovers. This was huge. If you eat right away, the crust was still crunchy. It was not hollow inside. It was good. Almond croissant with lots of filling inside. Crunchy if you eat it right away. Such friendly and helpful servers.
google avatar

Katie J.

Yelp
Avocado toast was excellent! Nice selection of pastries. Almond croissant and coffee cake were delicious.
google avatar

Monica B.

Yelp
BEST butter croissant I have had in a very long time. Super cute bakery, and friendly staff!

Cyndee H.

Yelp
Lovely French bakery. Be sure to go for breakfast to enjoy the pain bijou. It is a wonderful way to start the day. Croissants and lemon bars are favorites as well. If there is a line no worries the service is quick and friendly. There is patio dinning which is a perfect spot to enjoy coffee and pastry.

Yelp
We found this place when We stayed some night in cayucos for our engagement. The Almond croissant was AMAZING!!! The matcha tea was also good and very herbal. The only downside is that this place has a big patio/hangout area it was difficult to find the actual bakery. The cashier girl was in a bad mood but service was overall good.
google avatar

Ione M.

Yelp
Amazing everything! Their avocado toast was to die for as was their vegan rhubarb strawberry oat bar! Ambience lovely except the staff should not rearrange chairs and tables when patrons are trying to eat. The screeching was so loud we had to leave before we wanted to.
google avatar

Ann O.

Yelp
I love Bijou! My 2 year old and I go here weekly. The service is great, everyone who works here is super friendly and awesome. All the food and drinks we've tried are so good! The avocado toast is THE best I've ever had and I lived in LA for years where avocado toast is basically in every restaurant. A few other things that are amazing are the veggie quiche, scones and coffee cake.
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
A great spot to grab breakfast or brunch. Beautiful pastries, great coffee, kind and helpful staff!
google avatar

Bri R.

Yelp
I was recently in Cayucos for some family surfing and stopped in for an assortment of pastries and coffee both were very good and the service was friendly. I was able to walk right up and order although when I turned to leave there was a sizeable crowd queuing up to order.
google avatar

Dino H.

Yelp
Such a cute little coffee shop in this tiny lil' town. I've been stopping here over the years and I'm always happy to. The coffee is strong and tasty, the food is savory and yummy and the muffins and other baked goodies are fresh. Service is good and friendly, just like it should be in a local small cafe in a small California beach town
google avatar

Joni S.

Yelp
super cute spot to go before you start your day! very friendly community and staff. the food was delish and i would definitely go back next time i'm in town :)
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! Cayucos, Bijou Bakery is a gem...hang onto her. The Pain Bijou and Popover were fantastic!!
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Great pastries, delicious coffee, amazing staff and atmosphere! This place is a gem! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Fabulous and kid friendly. Lovely courtyard, delicious baked items. Kids loved the cinnamon rolls and coffee cake. Excellent coffee for the parents.
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down the BEST (strawberry) scones I ever had! They are moist, perfectly sweeten and paired with that delicious house made butter. All their other pastries and coffee are good too! So good that we stopped by everyday when we were in town and even bought a bunch back home. So if you are in town, please do yourself a favor and stop by here to get some goodies before heading to the beach, you'll thank me later!
google avatar

Lisa V.

Yelp
Amazing pastries! The morning bun, croissant and strawberry scone were some of the best we have ever had! A must stop when in Cayucos.
google avatar

Monica V.

Yelp
Oh my god, this place is so good. My almond croissant made me want to do all the moans. So delicious, buttery, flakey. Everything it should be. They have a lot of things I'd love to go back and try. Such an almost hidden gem. The coffee was not quite up to the standard of the pastries but was fine. Check hours though. They told me they're open Thursday - Sunday until 1pm. And they do run low on baked goods closer to 1, so try earlier for beat selection.
google avatar

Cynthia H.

Yelp
We picked up a couple of the almond croissants the other day due to other recommendations here and were sadly disappointed. While they were substantial in size and the dough was excellent in flaky buttery perfection, the almond filling, though plentiful was downright awful. The flavor was weird: not almond, not vanilla but rather some fake tasting essence that was so off-putting, that we scraped it out. Truly sad to have something seem like it had so much potential to be really good, fail so miserably. Maybe stick with a plain croissant there if you still want a french pastry.
google avatar

Dale E.

Yelp
Food was ok: pumpkin baked item was dry. Coffee cake was good. White chocolate mocha was extremely good. At 9:00 there was a solid line down the ramp onto the curb. At least a 30 minute wait to get to the window. Probably could have used some more help inside. When someone pointed out the long line, server at window said they'll just have to wait. Better to get there early. In my opinion food was ok but not worth the wait. Definitely wouldn't go back if the line was long. I wrestled between a 3 and 4 * here.

Yelp
CURRENTLY DROOLING. This bakery could be in Haute-Savoie, Bordeaux, Paris... - it is THAT good. I recommend trying everything. The coffee is delicious, service is spectacular and the owner is so so kind and welcoming. Take a box of baked goods with you and drive up north a few miles to the cliff trails!
google avatar

Melinda S.

Yelp
Amazing food! But what really shines is the staff. Friendly, accommodating and beautiful setting. Even during a busy holiday weekend, the staff still greeted us with a smile. we will be back!
google avatar

Anastasia T.

Yelp
Real French pastries. It's surprise to find such cool place in a small town. Be sure to try Popper and corn quiche
google avatar

E G.

Yelp
Love this bakery. Food is always on point--as is service. The popovers with the honey butter are my favorite. But I have also tried many other pastries and all have been delicious. I love visiting Cayucos and I always make sure to choose days when I know the Bijou is open!

Kimi G.

Yelp
We had breakfast here during an overnight in cayucos. The fresh squeezed OJ and coffe were great. We also had a pastry and quiche, they were really good too. And we too a focaccia home, also very good just a bit too salty for my taste. Can't wait to be back!

Roger P.

Yelp
Excellent croissants specifically the almonds ones and great pastries and good service.
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
What can I say but they have the BEST strawberry scones ever. OMG! My mouth waters thinking about them LOL. If I am ever back in the Cayucos area, I will definitely stop by and pick up a few strawberry scones. The only downside is that I will put on a few pounds after.
google avatar

Manuel N Francileine C.

Yelp
We went later in the day as they were closing. We got the GF lemon scone, regular lemon scone, and blueberry muffin. Everything was delicious and flavorful. Their honey butter is to absolutely die for with just the right amount of honey that isn't too overpowering. Will be back next time we're in town to get our morning pastry fix!

Jessica K.

Yelp
The best almond croissant I've EVER had! This place is the best . They have a beautiful spacious covered indoor outdoor vibe eating area , Friendly service , clean, cute ambiance , they have coffee , delish quiche , scones and all desserts are so homemade . Love watching the bakers make the treats from Behind the counter . A gem!
google avatar

Yelp
This is the cutest bakery! My friend and I got the avocado toast and OMG!! Delish!!! And on focaccia bread double yum! My chai latte was nice and creamy and the two girls working were super sweet the one who took our order even offered to bring it to my car. I have been recommending and will most definitely be coming back with my husband and kids!

Trisha R.

Yelp
Super cute bakery, but even more delicious pastries and baked goods! Their lemon scones with sweet butter are fantastic! Got the matcha latte, and it was delightful. Definitely will be my stop by when I'm in town, next!! It's a short walk to the pier so, you can enjoy your coffee/drink/breakfast on their sidewalk side tables then enjoy the beach side weather!

P T.

Yelp
I was charged for a stale pastry and a coffee they didn't have. I waited until the customer in front of me was done chatting with her friend the owner, I looked at the fruit bar in the bag, it was so stale it was disgusting looking. Then I was told there's no coffee. I said I don't want that pastry, I had already taken a bite just to see if it was as disgusting as it looked so I told the cashier I don't want that. So no coffee and I left the pastry and was charged 8.50. The bar was only 5.50, so where the hell do I get charged 3 dollars for no coffee? I'm going back and telling the owner what I think of her charging for goods not received. I get why the biotch charged for the disgusting pastry, because I took a bite of it, but where does she get off charging me for coffee they don't even have and I didn't get??!!! Guess what I'm going to call my bank and get the charge reversed. How's that for paying for something you don't receive.

Yelp
Delicious popover with honey butter, strawberry scone, and a perfect cappuccino. We were pleasantly surprised to sit out in the courtyard with heat lamps on a misty morning. We will definitely return!
