Bike the Gorge

What a wonderful way to see the gorge! I brought my older parents, and they had no issues with the electric bikes and had an absolute blast. The directions were easy to follow, the bike paths were smooth and clean and the views were breathtaking. First time with e-bikes and we had a great experience all around! Strongly recommend and will be looking into the longer tours.

My first time on an e-bike! Ben was super helpful and friendly getting me set up and when we returned after a gorgeous ride up to some waterfalls. Would definitely go back and recommend Bike the Gorge to others.

This was such a fun experience! And they made it so easy to pick up the bikes. My friends and I had the best time! The biggest bonus, the helmets were equipped with Bluetooth headsets so we could all communicate together on the ride. Loved it!! Highly recommended!

This was so fun! Lovely paved path & beautiful views of river and landscape while riding. Bikes were easy and fun to use. Instructions/recommendations for waterfall locations and helpful e-bike tips made this excursion awesome. Would highly recommend as a more accessible way to see some natural scenery and waterfalls.

Our next door neighbor, Mary started a new job at Bike the Gorge. It’s within walking distance from our house, and I didn’t even know that this business existed. She invited my wife and I to stop by and see her. I got to test ride 3 different e-bikes. I don’t know if I’d ever be able to afford one, but it sure was a lot of fun.

We had the BEST time on the extended waterfalls tour! It was our first time on e-bikes but they were easy to operate and ride. We were provided verbal and gps directions with Google Maps, a lock for each bike, and comfortable helmets. One bike had a saddlebag for the locks with plenty of room for additional items if needed. We had the most amazing views of the gorge and had a nice picnic lunch at one of the waterfalls before we made our way back to the shop with an hour to spare. I recommend the extended tour for $5 more so you can ride at a leisurely pace and not feel rushed. The bikes are super nice and easy to operate with as much or as little effort as you wish since they have a throttle. Both bikes were still at 80% charge when we returned. I would absolutely recommend this excursion to anyone visiting as well as Portland natives. What a beautiful way to see the gorge. We will most definitely be back and want to do the Mitchell Tunnel next. Thank you!

Nice little bike shop and rental place a bit off the main drag of Cascade Locks. Online booking was extremely easy; I rented an Aventon e-bike for an hour. The bike was super clean and well prepared and gave me no problems as I cruised down the paved and bike-only Historic Columbia River Trail west to the fish hatchery. Scenery around here is fantastic, with waterfalls and hiking trails along the way, and the paved trail is a great way to see it. BTG has mostly just e-bikes to rent; the folks at the shop will set you up for a rental and they even have guided and self guided tour options. Employees have their info down pat and will help you with anything you need. They sell bikes here, too. Website could offer a little more detail on the models they have in stock, but all in all it’s a friendly well run spot and a convenient place to rent. I’ll be back.

From arrival to departure a great experience. Knowledgeable and courteous staff, bikes and facility in great condition, self guided tour was fabulous. Did the 3.5 hour, plenty of time, not too strenuous, only used about 25% hrs of battery life on e-bike. Mostly dedicated trail, the section of shared road is sunny so dress/sunscreen as appropriate. Highly recommend for all skill levels.

Pretty stoked to have found Bike The Gorge in my search for an e-bike test ride. Riding an electric bike through the glorious Columbia River Gorge has got to be one of the best ways to cover ground while still being able to smell the roses in this awesome area, and BTG had a decent selection of steeds to meet my needs. Their tour offerings look even cooler, with a bunch of different options (varying in duration and destination), but I chose the self guided tour option before coming back to the shop and then doing a separate test ride on a different bike. Their bikes are all fairly new and up to date, well taken care of and prepped, and come with luggage and locks -- and the customer service I got from the friendly woman who greeted me was outstanding. She set me up, explained the bike and the route and gave me a number to call if anything went south. My Aventon Pace was clean, stout and powerful enough to handle any of the grades I came upon, though it was heavier (and heavier steering) then I liked. I was much happier test riding the new Lectric XP4. A nice rig! The shop itself is a pretty basic setup - a large open bay tucked into a nondescript row of metal industrial warehouses on the other side of the train tracks (literally), a bit east of Cascade Locks main drag. It's a small mom and pop operation, which is fine by me -- it always means better service. (BTW, booking a tour or test ride online is super easy, with availability shown in real time. I'll discuss nitpicks with their website down below) The good; -A nice selection of clean and up-to date electric models, from adventure to cargo to trikes. They're all well-maintained and outfitted with luggage and bike locks. -Owners are great; helpful and knowledgeable and ready with info. - You get to ride unbelievably scenic parts of the gorge no matter which direction you go. The shop provides good directions and destinations at a fair price (if you're doing a tour). The bad: - a better variety of bikes would have been nice. Almost all the e-bikes were of the fat tire type; some hybrids or cross bikes would help round out the options, and a more in-depth description (and corresponding photo) of specific models available on the website would be helpful too. Type of bike, features, weight, best-use, etc. But it was still a great day in the Gorge, cruising on an e-bike, and I'd use these guys again.

Thanks to "Bike the Gorge" I had a unique, exciting and fun bike trip which doesn't compare to any other biking experiences I know. In the lead up to my experience with "Bike the Gorge", I had decided to do a day trip at the gorge months out from my work trip to Oregon City. As a nature lover and hiker it was a perfect opportunity to experience one of the most beautiful landmarks in the US. Biking seemed like the perfect way to experience the gorge across a greater square feet without the use of a car. Though "Bike the Gorge" normally has a different pickup spot for bike rentals they were kind enough to let me pickup a bike at Cascade Locks since it was close to the CAT busline. That I am super appreciative of. Once I got to Cascade Locks the service men there were super generous. Though I ordered just a few snacks they threw in enough meats and cheeses to satisfy two riders! They were kind and made sure I felt as comfortable as possible. The trail they recommended was awesome. On those dedicated bike paths you get straight views down the gorge where the water lifts the sky. There were a handful of hop off spots to view waterfalls without a crazy hike. At the very end of it there were hiking spots where you can view mountain flowers and nature! It was honestly the best bike trail I have ever been on. Now I did make a mistake which I believe "Bike the Gorge" warned me of... I did over use the battery. I got cocky and on my way back to Cascade Locks I used up more and more of it until It completely died. I thought it recharges a bit if you manually bike but it didn't really help. Luckily though the worst uphill parts of the trail were behind me and though I was a bit late to returning the bike to "Bike the Gorge" they were completely understanding of my situation. If your a biker I highly recommend biking around the gorge. Take a look at this bike rental if you don't own a bike yourself!

What a great experience biking around the gorge! Highly recommend renting an e-bike from here. Communication leading up to the appointment was clear and helpful and getting set up with the e-bike to go on the ride was easy. I rented the bike for 3 hours and it was the perfect amount of time. We got to see a few waterfalls and the path was smooth and views were so scenic. Would definitely do this again!

This was such a fun experience! I wish we had a little more time as even the extended waterfall felt a bit rushed but we like to stop and look at things also. The people working were super helpful and showed us all we needed to know in order to ride the bikes,

Rented 2 e-bikes for a weekend cruise around the gorge. Everything was awesome. Easy reservation process, easy to locate for picking up the bikes, great orientation and then a really fun ride. The half-day package was just the right amount of time for us including a short hike to one waterfall, viewing the other waterfalls, some pictures, and me being a scaredey-cat coming down the hill. Most important - the seats are wide and comfy! You might still be a little saddle sore if you don't ride bikes much, but they are about as good as it gets. From the pick up point, it's 4 miles of low-traffic streets to get to the trail. There is one pretty big hill - it's no problem to get up with the e-bikes, but it's a little scary coming back down! Then you're on a mixed use trail the rest of the way. While you can access that trail by car at various points, I've never stopped at any of those points and it was exciting to see some new-to-me waterfalls and to stop and overlook the gorge from the trail bridges that I've only ever seen from below. If you've said, oh someday I'll do that, make a plan and go! It's fun!

What a wonderful experience we had! Lucas explained everything, showed us how to safely use the almost-new e-bikes, provided a map....and off we went along the dedicated bike trails in the forests along the scenic Columbia River Gorge! Worthwhile adventure!

What a great experience all around. From the moment we booked there was great communication and customer service from Ben. And the ride was such a blast. The bikes we great and allowed for 20 miles to fly by. If you are coming by the cascade locks bike the gorge is a must! We will be back!

We loved our ride! Lucas was waiting with bikes ready for us. He was clear and through with his instructions. The bikes worked perfectly and the route was beautiful and safe. We will definitely do this again.

Such a great adventure! 3 hours of beautiful waterfalls, amazing views of the Columbia's meandering path and views of the Washington hills. Excellent communication with Ben to coordinate the meeting place and explain the e-bikes. First time riding a bike in 50 years! Would recommend this adventure to anyone, and we'll definitely do it again!

Bike the Gorge was perfect for us. They made it easy to rent a bike. They made sure we know where to and the bikes were in good shape. Everything was easy.

Best day ever! Given excellent directions and the bikes were great. E bikes made the ride a breeze. It was super fun. We will definitely rent their e-bikes again.

My husband and I rented e-bikes today from Bike the Gorge as part of his birthday celebration. We had a great experience! The reservation process was smooth, the price was fair, and communication before the ride was excellent. We received confirmation, rental agreements to complete in advance, directions, and trail information. Ben checked us in and was very professional and knowledgeable. Our only wish would be to have a variety of bikes, but the business is new so that will probably come with time. Thanks for a really fun excursion!
