Last night, my friends and I dined at Bikurri Donkey with a party of nine. While the food was quite good and the robot server was a fun and novel touch, the service left a lot to be desired.
Because of the size of our group, seven of us sat in a booth with an extra chair, and the remaining two were seated at a nearby table. The issue began when we received our bill — both tables (Table 32 and Table 33) were charged the exact same amount: 15,065 yen each. In other words, we were double-charged for our entire party’s meal.
When we brought the issue to the staff’s attention, we were met with indifference rather than concern. Eventually, they corrected the charges to reflect the proper totals for each table, but no one apologized or took responsibility for the mistake.
To be clear: the restaurant was not busy, and five of the nine people in our group spoke Japanese fluently, so communication was not the issue.
If you plan to dine here, double-check your bill before paying. Even if you don’t read Japanese, you can count the number of items to ensure the total matches what you ordered.
Good food, but disappointing customer service.
