We had a nice stay at the hotel. |The rooms were a bit outdated and had no airconditioning (it was 30 Degrees Celsius). The pool was large enough for a good swim.|Dinner was quite ok and we also enjoyed breakfast and loved the coffee.

We had a lovely time at this hotel. The setting is beautiful, there's a nice (secret) aroma in the hotel when you arrive, the decorations are unique and attractive, etc. You feel like you're in a special place. The room was spacious and nicely prepared. The bathroom was well appointed with Rituals products. We had nice bathrobes for the wellness center. There were separate devices for coffee and tea (tea-lovers understand). And we had a nice little patio where we would sit in the sun and relax with our dog. The location is in a really beautiful part of the Netherlands and directly out the front door, you have access to gorgeous walking trails and biking routes that take you to nice places. The grounds of the castle themselves are quite attractive too. And sitting on their terrace in the sun with a nice drink is a perfect way to close out the day. The breakfast buffet is well done and very much worth it, with lots of special local treats and plenty of fresh everything. But the Bistro and the Restaurant at the hotel were severely understaffed and this led to seriously BAD service. In fact, the service at the restaurant was so bad, it ruined our evening. (2 hours to get our entrees, and then they get the orders wrong; not asking for drinks a 2nd time; not completing requests for bread; etc. - really bad service) We would go back to the hotel (and probably will). It's great. We won't go back to their trying-to-be-swanky, traditionally-focused restaurant, cause they can't do it well enough.

What a disappointment! They claim to be dog friendly but that’s only a statement online - dogs are not welcome to restaurant or breakfast room. We booked a table at the restaurant but had to unbook it - not even possibly to sit on the terrace. On the terrace there was only a fast food menu… We had to go into town for dinner (witch was nice). When we expressed our disappointment to stag at the reception they were at best not concerned. Went to the terrace for a drink later in the evening but the service was beyond slow, after half an hour with no contact we left. We had a room on the first floor - it was very dark. In the room the ventilation was bad, we opened a window but then a stench from some flowers on the outside got in. No lid on the toiletseat.

Group of 18 - great location but food was way overcooked. At breakfast they would organise reservation for seatings for one group but not us - three nights in a row. Reception did not coordinate with breakfast people. Overall the location does not deserve the the way things are organised. Would not recommend.

Nice hotel. The restaurant service was well below par, though. Slow (first contact 20 minutes after we were seated, our cold starter arrived after 40 minutes), no explanation of menu choices, waitress that didn't speak Dutch and barely spoke English (hence the menu problem). The food was OK-ish.

Very nice experience. The room was perfect. The wellness center was very calm and nice but the changing rooms are not very practical. The restaurant was amazing. We had a lovely dinner. The surroundings are beautiful for a walk around the lake.

We have mixed feelings about our experience. On the positive side, the rooms were excellent—spacious, clean, and comfortable. The hotel overall is well-maintained and has a pleasant ambiance, which we truly appreciated. However, we were disappointed with certain aspects of our stay: 1. Wellness Area We had high expectations for your wellness center, hoping for a relaxing experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The environment felt more like a busy camping pool than a tranquil wellness facility. The area was noisy, with children screaming, jumping, and splashing water everywhere. Additionally, it was impossible to find a free deckchair to sit and relax. This fell far short of what we expect from a wellness center. 2. Restaurant Experience At the restaurant, we were not offered a proper menu but were instead presented with meal options without knowing the prices. This lack of transparency was disappointing, and the prices seemed quite high for the quality and portion sizes of the dishes we received. We believe these issues detract from what could otherwise have been a great experience. We hope these points are addressed so future guests can enjoy a more relaxing and satisfactory stay.

We just took drinks and ate something at the outdoor restaurant...the lady was not very friendly...we ordered the 12 o'clock soup...the soup of the day was pumpkin but did not taste like it...in fact we did not like how it tasted at all... there was a sandwich with ham and cheese with an egg on top provided with the soup...well the egg was completely burnt Sorry cannot recommend this place...and not for these prices

Yelp
On a two week trip in Europe so decided to try something in the southern part of Netherlands to add a little variety. As an added bonus we were near the three country border of The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium (Kudos to us!!). Issues arose immediately upon arrival when after a long train ride the check in was a bit rude and abrupt. Meh chalk it up to a long day for the staff. Ask for a spa service guide in English and get a frown and a no sorry we don't. I could easily accept this if the hotel hadn't provided a beer menu and in room information in English. The most expensive thing I am going to have is a visit to the spa..c'mon..please? Found our way to the bar (as the lounge was closed..and never opened during our brief stay). Had a friendly bartender and a good selection of beers and a GREAT selection of scotches. The wait for a call from spa continued... We walked the lovely grounds and found our way to the spa to ask questions in person. Oh no we are booked all day tomorrow and closed Sunday sorry...so no spa visit (I agree short notice and slots fill up fast but still wife was NOT happy). Room was nice and large but the whole experience had left the two of us a tad grumpy. We decided to bail a day early and head back to Amsterdam. Figures breakfast was great and it was a sunny day for a train ride back north..
