Loved flying out of this small and cozy airport. The ferry didn't operate the day we went, but the tunnel provided for an easy access from the city. I had 2 suitcases so I just grabbed a free cart right at the entrance to the tunnel and the walk was a breeze. The service at the airport is quick and efficient, the check in to our flight and security screening took us 15 minutes. After that you get to enjoy the comfy seating areas equipped with charging ports, and taking in the views of Toronto skyline from the large windows.

Google
Under rated airport in Toronto. Not as busy as Pearson but just as good for destinations that it satisfies. Quick and efficient. Great value and not as congested/complicated. Great for downtown folks. Great service and comfortable.

Google
Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is a breath of fresh air for travelers. Its downtown location makes it incredibly convenient—just a quick ferry or tunnel ride and you're at the terminal. I was amazed by how smooth and stress-free the entire experience was. Security lines were short, staff were friendly and efficient, and the terminal itself was clean and modern. The airport offers great amenities like free Wi-Fi, cozy lounges, and a solid selection of food and drink options. I especially appreciated the complimentary shuttle to Union Station, which runs every 15 minutes and makes getting to and from the airport a breeze. It’s hands-down the best way to get there—fast, reliable, and free! Compared to the chaos of larger airports, Billy Bishop feels like a well-kept secret. Highly recommend for anyone flying within Canada or to select U.S. destinations

Google
I like small airports. This is one is perfect. Easy access because is close to the city. Simple, practical, secure, clean and organized. Not a lot of people and that is a good thing. The views from the city are espectacular. I like the idea of using the ferry to get there or leave.

Google
This airport is very convenient from downtown Toronto. However, there aren’t many destinations from here. The mains ones are Boston, Newark, Montreal and Ottawa. There is rarely a line at security and they recently added a lounge here. However, before the lounge, the seats at the gate area were pretty much like the seats you’d find in the lounge anyway. Overall, a good airport.

Google
No wonder that it is one of like the 10 coolest airports to land, we were so excited. Both flights (in and out) were cool. Airport security staff was very friendly and border control was ok (I mean, nothing negative, these guys are always so serious and this stresses me out). Apart from that, there is a small duty free with cool things. You can get a small maple syrup as a souvenir.

Google
Much smaller than Pearson, so a lot faster in and out & less time needed ahead of flight. Convenient drop off, elevator ride, walk through tunnel, up the escalators, and you are at security. Then, short walk to gate.

Google
This is the first time, I’ve ever taken the time to rate an airport even though I travel over 183 days in a year and over 60+ countries over the last 30+ years. Billy Bishop Toronto is the first time I booked my flight from this small yet highly convenient and not well known. I travel to Montreal hence domestic flights. The security is no brainer and no pressure. It took me less than five minutes probably because there were few people. The terminal is small but yet welcoming with many seats outside though only three restaurants, bar or coffee. There is only one lounge “Aspire” (see photo) it is very relaxing and modern. Again, probably because there were only few people. I like because it’s one of the rarest time I don’t have to rush and being pressured. I will definitely travel thru YTZ anytime I got the chance.

Yelp
The better airport that Toronto has to offer, it is more convenient than Pearson, less crowded and over all cleaner and better managed! Also if you fly with Porter they have a free shuttle to Union station every 15 minutes.

Yelp
Rarely do I say I love an airport, but this one - is special. I really love it! It reinforces my love for small (vs huge) airports. So well organized and operated smoothly, even in the midst of a rainstorm in preparation for impending snow. There were certain parts of the airport that were 'under construction', but there were visible signs about where/how to take a detour to get to baggage claim, security, your gate, etc. Maybe I shouldn't be impressed, but I am. When you've had more sour experiences than sweet at many airports in/outside of the country, you'd understand my plight lol. The best part was the lovely view of the water while waiting for transportation to the hotel. I know the other Toronto airport is bigger and more popular, but if I can, I'd choose this one again. By the way, I think a lot of airlines can and should take notes from Porter Airlines; they are superb!!!

Yelp
Hands down one of my favorite airports! It's conveniently located in the heart of downtown Toronto, with a beautiful view of the CN Tower. The ferry transports you between the city and the airport. This airport is also not very busy - I was able to get away with arriving an hour before departure and made it through security right away. The TSA here is also very friendly and efficient. Because of the great experience overall, I purposely seek out Porter Airlines just to fly in and out of this airport to get to Toronto. The airport is also very clean, easy to get around, and they have plenty of shops including duty free. I'd recommend this airport to anyone in the area looking to fly in and out of Toronto.

Yelp
Great, small, pleasant inner city airport with amazing view on the water, but terrible traffic (this is Toronto's fault not the airport's). We walked the long underwater tunnel to and from Toronto City upon landing and to catch our return flight. Pleasant enough; no need to deal with or wait for the ferry. We love that the Air Canada / Porter Airline waiting area felt like a lounge without being a lounge: aesthetically pleasing and comfy seating, power outlets at every seat (so civilized, unlike some American airports), nice enough food / drink outlets, etc. Small, simple, but modern. Views landing here and taking off from YTZ are simply amazing. Here are my photos of the skyline of Toronto from YTZ airport.

Yelp
It is as if every single worker in this airport is sharing 1 collective braincell. They say to be here 3 hours early for an international flight. Well the flight is at 7 am, the ferry and tunnel to the airport doesn't even open until 5 am. So it's an entire hour waiting outside the airport. Then once it opens the only airline (porter) doesn't open their bag drop until 6 am. Then they cancel a flight due to poor weather conditions and rebook me on a flight to the same destination 20 minutes later. Well then that gets cancelled for poor weather (who could have seen that coming?). They have security that says going to Canada or USA. There is no signage about which line to go to if you have a layover in Canada and are going to USA, meaning half the flight did security twice and I am now waiting for people to get scanned that then aren't even going and have to take all their stuff and start over. Gross incompetence for the minute you step foot in the tunnel to the rebooking agents, who are not only unhelpful but also slow and rude.

Yelp
This is an amazing airport and a bucket list for any aviation enthusiasts. You get the full view of the Toronto skyline during the take-off and landing. Not to mention, this airport serves limited daily fights, so it's usually not too busy. Especially for US bound flights, where the wait area is very cozy and even better than some of the premium airport lounges.

Yelp
Small airport that's easy to navigate. Comfy lounge seats. You can either take the ferry or walk on the walkway. The walkway is not that long with the electric walkways

Yelp
Just wanted to give some love to this airport for its quick customs processing using kiosks. After getting off my flight, it only took a few minutes to get through the kiosks and customs and I was outta there. A quick and convenient process overall. And I was able to use their free shuttle to get to union station. The airport itself has great views of the city and is in the heart of downtown. A great alternative to Pearson!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice small airport in the heart of the city. Staff very friendly. Parking is full when we came but we found a public parking at Bathurst & Queensway for 4hr after 6pm. Airport have shuttle for Union Station. You can either take the tunnel and walk or bring your car and take the ferry with fee and lots of parking in the airport.

Yelp
Although very small, this airport is very clean and simple to navigate. The staff were incredibly friendly and assisted us with all of our needs (weighing our luggage, directing us to the restroom, etc). The check-in staff even helped us out when our flight was delayed by an hour; he helped us board an earlier flight since there were seats available and it really saved us so much hassle and pain, since we were going to be waiting for 3+ hours for our original flight...I honestly love how efficient this airport was and it allowed us to relax without worrying about foot traffic and rude staff. Highly satisfying experience! Please keep in mind that their DUTY FREE is very small as well, one little store, one general shop, and a bar. So don't expect to spend too much time browsing, you'll probably be done in less than 10 minutes. Thanks for reading!

Yelp
This is Toronto's hidden secret. Right here. Why many people don't know about this airport, I do not know. I can only speak on behalf of my arriving experience here since I wasn't even supposed to be here in the first place when coming back from a trip to Montreal - I was rebooked to fly here instead of to Pearson since all flights from YUL-YYZ were sold out. Landing here was seriously a good accident. The airport is small and compact, yet super convenient and stress-free. It is also very well connected. You can either go on a short ferry ride to the mainland or walk the underground tunnel. There is also a FREE shuttle that takes you from the airport to Union Station. Be sure to book a window seat on your flight here and sit on the right side. The views of the Downtown Toronto skyline are AMAZING and breathtaking. See my attached photos for a reference. My only complaint would be that baggage took a bit too long for an airport of this size to come out. I was expecting it to come out relatively quickly, but I ended up having to wait about 20-30 minutes for whatever reason. There were no other flights arriving at the same time as mine. Other than that, forget about flying to Pearson, especially if you'll primarily be staying Downtown when in Toronto. Unless you love chaos and crowds. You'll thank me later.

Yelp
I can see why people are raving about Billy Bishop: it's small, cute, and very charming, but better than that: it's throwing distance (for an experienced footballer, perhaps) from downtown Toronto! Arriving at the airport can be done by the ferry (shortest ride in the world!) or via their new underground tunnel. In departures, the check-in counter only has a handful of 'windows', but then again, this isn't too large of an airport. There was a little bit of a line, but nothing too bad. I dig a lot that they have a seperate line for those people who've already checked in online, and just need to drop off their bags. Then it's through the left for security. I've been through U.S. airport enough that I'm already taking off my shoes and taking out large electronics. I don't remember the exact security procedures, but I do remember it was less stringent than in the U.S.. Very efficient, polite (it IS Canada, but still) and one of the nicer airport security experiences I've had. Right past security you get to the departures level. The terminal is clean, well lit, and has plenty of comfortable seating. There's not a whole lot dining wise: you have a restaurant, which contains a café with grab and go. There's also the obligatory Hudson News and duty free shop. Billy Bishop being a small airport, this is plenty. Don't get me wrong you should give yourself ample time and check with your airline... you just won't be spending to long here, relative to larger airports. The layout of the gates is a little funky, but there are plenty of people and signage to help you find where you're going. Arriving at the airport was fairly painless as well.

Yelp
First time here and first time flying Porter. It's a cozy airport. No complicated directions or having to ride trains to your gate. Lounge is full of comfy chair. Free WiFi. Perfect for domestic and short flights.

Yelp
Easiest way to get in and out of the city on short flights - never a line and staff are super friendly. I haven't been here in a while but super impressed with the Balzac and bistro that's opened, you are no longer stuck with porter lounge coffee!!!!!!

Yelp
The airport is conveniently located in the heart of downtown. You can get there in about 15 mins by public transport! The terminal has a big renovated seating area, a restaurant (Obispo), a coffee shop (Balzac's), and a small variety store (Toronto Island Market) including souvenirs. There are a variety of seating arrangements lile with little tables for 2, counter seats or long benches. All seats have electrical plugs closeby. The chairs are very comfortable. Seating area is bright. Three years ago, It was exclusively Porter Airlines so they had free drinks and snacks, like a small business class lounge. Then Air Canada started using the airport too. One year ago (2018), they cut down on drinks and snacks but there was still some. Now in 2019, nothing is free but the renovation is nice and modern. There is a free shuttle bus running from Front St & York St to the airport at the foot of Bathurst St, starting 5:00am, every 15 mins. You can also get there by streetcar but there is a short walk to the airport. Of course you can drive/taxi/uber there. There is a car rental at the airport too. Once you are at the city side, there are carts you can use for your luggage. You can take the elevator down to the long tunnel that goes under the harbour or take a short ferry ride across. Luckily the tunnel has a "moving sidewalk". Air Canada has two self-serve check-in kiosks but Porter doesn't. I arrived at 5:30am and there was a huge lineup for Porter and nothing for AC (They have far fewer flights). The counters open around 5:40am. So if you are flying, it is best to do online check-in and only have carry-on luggage so you can walk right to security. I managed to beat the crowd so there was no lineup at security so it was painless (must remember to take off your belt but can leave your shoes on). There is free WiFi even in the tunnel. The first Porter flight is 6:45am and the first AC flight is 7:15am. All planes out of the airport use small planes and propellers so inside the plane cabin is noisier than a bigger jet plane. If you have the biggest carry-on bag, you will have to check-in your carry-on at the gate for free since the overhead bins are not big enough.

Yelp
I don't usually fly in and out of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. But my recent experience might changed my mind. Going through Canada Immigration when I arrived from Newark was a breeze. There was no other flights clearing customs aside from mine. A short walk to the shuttle then I arrived at Union Station. Too bad there are only limited domestic and transponder flights in and out of YTO.

Yelp
Stress-free airport experience in the post-pandemic world? This airport is hands down one of the best I've been to. I took the free shuttle bus from Royal York hotel to the airport. Got my boarding pass in 3 mins. Went to security line and there were only 2 people in front of me. This compares favourably with my last flight out of Pearson airport a month ago where I was in the security line for almost an hour
google avatar

AJ A.

Yelp
I really like this airport because it is right in the city and close to everything. They have a very good system and you can check out fairly quickly. The service and the amount of time you spend in there is very short for arrivals. They also offer everyone in the lounge area drinks including sodas and hot chocolate chips and other really nice snacks at no extra charge. I will have to update the review once we leave with our departure experience.

Yelp
I always feel weird reviewing airports since they all are pretty much the same but this one is different. I travel for a living so I've seen so many and this one is by far my favorite airport. I originally flew into Pearson (YYZ) and had to take the train into town. I was staying with a friend who lived on the harbor front who pointed out that this airport is way more convenient so I figured I'd fly out of it. Porter has way more flights back into EWR than United or AC so I went with it. You can walk right up to the airport - I've never been to another like this. I did take the street car a few stops since it was windy and rainy on Sunday. You walk right in and take the tunnel underground to get past the water. Lots of moving walkways and escalators so it's not bad. The security line went so quickly and the lounge area is beautiful. All of the gates are easy to get to since they're all situated around the lounge. There's a duty free, Hudson store and a restaurant. I think YTZ is my new airport of choice for Toronto. Why fly into YYZ if you have the opportunity to fly into downtown?

Yelp
At first, Billy Bishop Airport seemed too small for comfort, but after flying in and out, I am a HUGE fan for these reasons: 1) It's an airport on an island! Not a real island, but still. It's surrounded by water, but don't worry. You enter on the mainland and take the underground tunnel under the lake to check-in. 2) It's super close to downtown Toronto. As you fly in and out, you can take amazing photos of the skyline. 3) There's a free shuttle that takes you to Union Station in downtown Toronto. 4) FREE FOOD! There's an entire snack bar complete with cookies, trail mix, water, soda, iced tea, and even a fancy specialized coffee machine. It's completely free for people who are flying out of the airport. Let it be known: Billy Bishop Airport is one of the BEST!
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
I've not yet taken a flight out of this airport yet...maybe one day, I came to this airport to use the tunnel and see the skyline. I decided to have a walk through, the history and artifacts that are display from bill bishop himself are absolutely awesome to see in person. this airport is small, but packs a serious punch when it comes to service and accessibility, dare I even go so far as to say its almost away from Toronto altogether. looks like a great place to take a flight and I can't wait to use it one day. a great place to take photos of the skyline and west end of Toronto as well.
google avatar

Kimberly J.

Yelp
Definitely a fan of this airport. It's small, which I like because it's not as packed as some of the other airports out there. Checking in was a breeze and the security line ran smoothly. Employees around the airport are friendly and attentive. There is limited eating options here. I saw one little shop that sells ready to eat sandwiches, chips, and drinks. No warm food options. I also only saw one shop that sells some souvenirs, cookies, maple syrup, perfumes/colognes, etc. I love how close to downtown this airport is, as well as rental car options. Made getting in and out that much smoother. Yes, there isn't a whole lot of dinning options here but you can always grab something in downtown before entering the airport. We are really happy with this airport, got in and out in no time.

Yelp
BOTTOM LINE: Essentially everything you could ask for in a downtown airport. I'm surprised I haven't reviewed Billy Bishop given how many times I've flown out of here and my penchant for reviewing airports. Suffice to say, and I'm not sure I have more to add than what others have said, but this is one of the best small-scale, urban airports I've ever flown out of. First, and obviously this only applies if you're in the downtown area, it's easy to get to and out of. There is a free shuttle service that will take you to and from the Royal York. The streetcar stops about a 10 minute walk from it. You can cab/Uber/Lyft it of course, and if you drive, you also have the option of parking it on the island. Second, since they build the underground tunnel, QoL has improved even more. Sure, the ferry is fun and cute the first few times, but after that, you just want to get in-and-out ASAP. Third, the security staff are fast and efficient, and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to get through. This, of course, lends itself to the benefit of being able to arrive literally 30 minutes before local flights and not worry about missing it! Finally, the airport lounge area with their complimentary beverages and snacks is a huge, huge plus for weary travelers. Here's to hoping it continues to improve - perhaps more retail options? - but seriously, I'm not sure even that is necessary.

Yelp
To start this airport is just gorgeous. It's right on the water. You have two options to get to the other side of the airport to the area where you check in and where the flights fly out. You can take the ferry which runs every 15 minutes or walk through the underground tunnel. I have flown from this airport twice. So I was able to go threw the tunnel and take the ferry. The airport is small. It includes lounge which is accessible to everyone. The lounge includes free drinks - water, pop, tea and a machine that makes a variety of coffee beverages like lattes, cappuccinos, etc. I've tried some of the coffee drinks and they were really good. The lounge also has some free snacks such as cookies. There is also an area where you can buy food such as sandwiches and salads. The seats in the lounge are super comfy. There are power outlets everywhere. The washrooms are really clean. However, except delays when it's raining or foggy outside. Both times I've flighted out from here my flight was delayed. The first time it was foggy and my flight got delayed almost four hours. Some flights even got cancelled. The second time my flight was delayed an hour and on the way back again it was delayed almost 3 hours. The plane wasn't able to land due to again fog. This airport is great to flight from only if the weather is good otherwise except long delays or even cancellations. The airport offers free shuttle bus service from and to union station.

Yelp
Dang, why isn't flying out of Pearson this enjoyable? Until recently the only Toronto airport that I had ever experienced was Pearson and let's just say that the experience there leaves much to be desired. Billy Bishop makes the whole airport experience, dare I say it, pleasant. The airport is accessed easily from downtown Toronto. If you get down to the waterfront you can either take the pedestrian tunnel or the ferry. The walk is not long at all so the tunnel is a good bet. This is a very small airport so check-in lines and security go very quickly. The runway is too short for jets to land at this airport so only turbo props fly into here. YTZ is one of those rare airports where you actually can't wait to get to the gate because the space there is very comfortable. You can expect lots of seating and complimentary coffee, soft drinks and snacks. It makes the wait for your flight enjoyable. If you are in need of a full meal though the choice will be limited to sandwiches and salads, which must be purchased. When you fly out of YTZ do what you can to get a window seat on the airplane because as you take off you get to enjoy stunning views of the downtown Toronto skyline. My flight was at night so I was lucky enough to get to see the skyline lit up in all its glory. It was quite a sight to see.

Beatriz H.

Yelp
The security staff at this airport are extremely professional and made it the best security check experience I have had in my entire life. Special thanks to Dinu and Elena.

Yelp
This is such a cute airport! Perfect for business trips to-and-fro Toronto. Conveniently located close to downtown Toronto (15 minutes cab ride to anywhere downtown) and with beautiful views on your way down to land or way up to leave. Quick and efficient service, great food lounge where you can sit and charge your phone while you enjoy complimentary tea, coffee, soft drinks, water bottles, biscuits and crackers. They have pricey salads but for $17, I ate healthily and felt really full. There's only one bathroom though and since the cleaning lady was working at that time, the line-up of women waiting to use the bathroom was pretty bad... Very small so useful if you're in a rush. Trust me, you can't get lost!! I really liked my experience last week at this airport.

Yelp
I actually like this airport quite a lot. And my opinion has become more favorable since the pedestrian tunnel was completed. The airport is easy to navigate and the facilities are reasonably nice. But the best thing about this place is its convenience to downtown TO. It is the airport that gets the label of "easiest-to-use" in my experience. The HQ for my company is in city centre TO and I use Bishop a fair amount. The connection from Windsor for me is quite convenient. I hope that Porter Airlines, the major tenant at Bishop, adds Detroit Metro to their list of US airports serviced at some point in the near future as I would love to fly from my home airport to access TO in the easy manner allowed by YTZ. As it is, the flight schedules offered in and out of Bishop are quite adequate. The recent completion of the tunnel has been wonderful. In the past, it required a ferry ride to get from the island airport to the mainland. While a fun novelty, the ferry was slow and one was always on someone else's schedule. The tunnel allows the process of getting to and away from the airport to be much more flexible. The only thing I can say is that I am hoping there are plans to put in stairs or an escalator on the mainland side as the only way to ground level currently is via elevator. The tunnel has made access to the airport even better. However, the thing I have always liked about this airport is the ease of getting to and from the facility. Taxi rides from downtown are not terribly expensive. But I have often walked to my hotel or my HQ office from Bishop. By walking out of the airport and directly up Bathurst, many parts of city centre are accessible on foot. The last time I used this airport, I made the 20-or-so-minute walk from Richmond and Bathurst. The airport facilities are also nice. I cannot speak for the Air Canada side as I have never used them at Bishop. However, the lounge area on the Porter side offers a very nice, relaxed experience while waiting for flights. Small snacks and coffee (or tea or water) are free for everyone and there are other snacks and drinks available for purchase. The seating is nice allowing one to relax. A work surface is often available to use laptops, etc. The check-in and security processes are quite easy at Bishop compared to other airports. The pre-security area is nicely spacious with plenty of automated check-in machines. The security is efficient and the agents are relatively pleasant. Arrival at YTZ is easy as far as luggage claim and getting away from the airport. I have not flown there directly from the US so I cannot speak firsthand concerning the Customs and Immigration processes. However, my colleagues have done so and seemed to have no complaints about the experience. Overall, this is one of my favorite airports to use. There are not many that allow access on foot. The facility itself is nice and the security and check-in processes are more than adequate. If you plan to visit downtown Toronto, this is a much superior choice compared to Pearson.

Yelp
Great airport. Super easy to get through customs, fast service and way less crowded. Would only say to stay away if you hate a propeller plane. But not much food to offer and all kiosks closed on a busy Tuesday afternoon after New Year's Day and all flights delayed for +2 hours. Not to mention the 11pm curfew. The free drinks are great, but umm I'm hungry! Make sure to eat before you get here JUST IN CASE. Bright side? I got a great picture of the CN tower off the harbour and was able to see the light show while I waited. Could have been worse.

Yelp
Now that I've had the pleasure of traveling through YTZ, for short-haul flights I'm never going to YYZ again! For those who arrive at Union Station, there's a shuttle bus that takes you to the ferry terminal from the Starbucks on Front St between York St and University Ave. Once at the ferry terminal, you wait for the ferry to arrive and bring you over to the airport on the island. Once at the airport, you have the option of flying out of Terminal A (domestic) or Terminal B (international). The line was short when I arrived (2pm). Once inside the terminal, you're treated to complimentary wifi, complimentary refreshments (coffee, pop, water, juice, etc.) and complimentary snacks (there were cookies and almonds). Thanks Porter! A few minutes before boarding, they will ask to check passports. On the way back into Canada, there were 2 customs agents, but the line moved pretty quickly. They also have a Nexus lane. Overall, the experience was phenomenal that I will avoid heading to Pearson if I can.

Yelp
I took Porter to fly from Toronto to Montreal and I was really impressed with Billy Bishop. Not only is it easy to get to, it's super easy to check in! The airport is stylish, modern, and clean. The lobby was also very comfortable with complimentary water and soft drinks, and a couple snacks. My flight was delayed but the airport was so comfortable that I didn't even mind. Billy Bishop truly changes the way you'll think about airports!

Yelp
Call me a spoiled New Yorker, but this airport is lacking something in service. I am used to airports being open 24 hours, so I was surprised to see that this airport closes and opens at a certain time. That's not a big deal. My issue is that no one is around to help you at opening time. There are lots of signs but not many that advise your concerns. I arrived at 5am (just in time for opening) and took the escalators into the airport. I had no baggage to check-in so I proceeded straight to security. The Security gates were vacant, so I wasn't sure if I should line up, open the door to security, or what? I looked around for staff to help me but no one was available. So I stood at the gate, waiting. Within a few minutes, another traveler stayed online with me and even she didn't know what was going on. Eventually one of the security agents opened up the gate. But he never said anything, he looked at us shrugged his shoulders, and walk back inside. So naturally the New Yorker/MTA rider in me said to myself "WTH". I walked inside of the gate and simply asked whether we were allowed to come in, the security guard dumbfounded looked me and says "yeah sure". I got the impression that he really wanted to say " I don't even know why you're still standing out there, I opened the gate for you". After surviving that ordeal, I went into the waiting area which looks like something out of the twilight zone. Essentially you're waiting and waiting and waiting until you hear you're plane being called or as you look at the screen and it's ready to board. Long story short, would I return to this airport? no. It's not worth the hassle and it's not worth the mula! P.S. There is barely any food or vendors

Yelp
Worst airport experience i`ve ever had. we were supposed to fly to NYC from Toronto on Oct 9, 2021. Got to the airport 2 hours before the flight, but the staff was SOOOO slow and they were short on stuff too, so the airplane took off without boarding a full list of people. me and 10 more people were left in the airport because people on the check in were super super slow. They could not find any alternative flights same day, so we just went home.. this is insane...

Yelp
This hardly seems like an airport -- in a good way! The hustle and bustle and stress of a regular airport doesn't seem to be here. It's extremely small and rather than multiple large terminals, there is one big waiting area. The area is as comfortable as an airport could be, with a large variety of seating (tables, chairs, arm chairs). There is complimentary coffee, lattes, granola, shortbread cookies, water, and soda. Security was a breeze. On a Sunday morning I was 3rd in line at check in and was done within 5 minutes. I also usually find airport security to be really rude but that is not the case here. Although they could still be nicer, I felt way more comfortable than I usually do flying. If you're able to fly in and out of this airport, I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Got a great view of the CN tower while landing and arriving at this small airport. Right across the river from Toronto. Clean, efficient, compact place. The lounge space for connecting flights is decent and there are some complimentary coffee, soft drinks, shortbread chocolate chip cookies, and small, crunchy crackers available. No complaints. It was a comfortable short stop.

Yelp
Well, what can I say? It's my favourite airport. It's small, local and oh, so convenient. The only silly thing about this place, is the wee ferry boat ride but ever since they installed the giant escalators, this airport finally hit the big time. I've flown Porter countless times and simply cannot get over how smooth the experience is. Security, baggage claim and even lounging around is easy. They offer drinks (coffee, teas, water, sodas) and little snacks or cookies for you to over indulge-in as you wait. Believe me, those shortbread cookies with the chocolate chips, I could eat the entire basket but ya know, I only eat three to be polite and lady like. (real shame though). They've got free wi-fi so I end up doing everything from work to watching movies or playing video games. Yet on top of all that, they have a shuttle that connects you to union station and several other spots downtown. Talk about making life convenient.

Yelp
I used to love Billy Bishop--and I still do. Just not as much. A few years ago Porter sold the airport to a company operated by AGF Investments. At first everything seemed to stay the same. You still had fast service. It was still phenomenally convenient (although sometimes loud I hear, from nearby condo residents). Porter still offered complimentary snacks in the lounge. But earlier this year (2019), I finally began seeing some changes. The complimentary food in the Porter lounge is gone. Customs takes a little longer and uses automated kiosks that have face detection (surveillance-wise, these appear to be more sophisticated than the ones at Pearson). You hear an increasing number of stories where people were grounded at the airport, seemingly more than previous years, although that may be an anecdotal observation. Don't get me wrong there's still a lot of positives here. It usually takes me 30 minutes or less to get in to the airport, clear security and be waiting at my gate. You're within walking distance of downtown. You don't have to take the ferry anymore. But I am starting to see signs that this is becoming a more traditional airport and as such will likely lose some of its more endearing qualities over time. It's still a great airport and your best bet when flying short hops in and out of Toronto.

Yelp
Super easy airport. Highly recommend flying in here than the international Airport, if possible. The airport is in the city and is only a 10 minute cab ride into city center. There's 1 eatery inside the airport that serves good beer, sandwiches and even makes fresh donuts. Great airport! Look forward to returning!

Yelp
Porter is the only way to fly. Security is quick, staff is friendly and the lounge is relaxing. They also offer complimentary water, soft drinks, coffee, tea and some snacks. If you're hungrier they have sandwiches and salads for purchase. Now that they've built the pedestrian tunnel it's even more convenient and easy to make your way to the terminal. The flight prices can sometimes be more expensive than flying out of Pearson but watch out for their sale prices!

Yelp
Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is located on Toronto Island and is the headquarter site for Porter Airlines (a regional airline company). They have a pedestrian tunnel that connects to the Toronto mainland for easier access, as well as airport lounges that is complimentary for all the passengers (offering coffee, teas, juices, and light snacks). There is also a cafe that offers sandwiches and bottled specialty beverages, as well as an espresso bar. The hubs and I had a layover here, and while the complimentary snacks and beverages was a nice touch, the status updates on flights, especially on the delay estimates, were not given. It was also disorganized in terms of which gate to proceed to to board the plane, and there is no specific process - it is more of a first-come, first-serve basis, and passengers tend to take advantage of this by cutting in line. If you're forced to include a layover, this may be your only bet within the area, but I highly recommend getting a direct flight to avoid any headaches! +complimentary lounge for passengers with wi-fi, snacks, and beverages +unorganized status updates on flights +no process for boarding the plane +cutting passengers (!!!)

Yelp
I love this airport. It's never crazy insane as Pearson and that's a huge plus to me. Getting here is relatively fast and easy. Getting through check in and through security is a breeze and for that reason alone I will try to fly through this airport as much as possible. The best part here is if you are flying in Canada you only need to be at the airport about 45 min before your flight. At Pearson expect at least 1 1/2 hours to ensure you clear check in/security. The staff are all friendly and the service you get is always first class. I've never been treated rudely here and I've fly threw here a few times. To get to the actual airport you can either take a ferry ride (all of about 2 min) or now the tunnel - about a 5 min walk through the tunnel. The free wifi, snacks and drinks keep bringing me back. In fact I feel like taking another trip...lol

Yelp
Great little airport! Way better experience than Pearson. Easy to get to, no hassle parking, cheaper pricing, small and easy to get around, FREE non-alcoholic drinks and snacks! By far the best experience I've ever had at an airport. I will take advantage of Billy Bishop Airport any chance I can, happy to avoid Pearson as much as possible.

Yelp
Anytime I have an option to fly into Toronto via Billy Bishop I will only do it this way. Plop right into downtown Toronto and you almost don't need a ride depending on where you need to go. It doesn't have many amenities but, I will take quick access any day over food variety.

Yelp
Small airport with an amazing view of the city. You can take a ferry or a tunnel to get on/off the airport island. Check in was easy peasy and they are very accommodating if you want to take an earlier flight. There was barely a line at security too. They have a lounge area while you wait at the gate. Small snacks available like cookies, water and coffee. I overheard a flight attendant say the Newark flights are a hit or miss with delays due to weather and construction. And as a tip, it's better to fly in to Boston and D.C. My flight consisted of a total of 15 passengers leaving Toronto on a Monday afternoon. We all had to stay in our seats to balance the weight of the plane.

Yelp
Clean, modern, and well organized. My flights are always a pleasure going through BB, with the added bonus of being in the heart of Toronto. Signage is clear and well situated, and staff have always been happy to answer my questions when I may have had any. I do miss the free snack bar, but I also enjoy the restaurants now in the airport. Award for Best View of the City Skyline at Landing/Take-Off also belongs to this airport, as you're flying directly along the shoreline of Lake Ontario.

Yelp
Definitely the best way to travel to downtown Toronto! It's fast, easy and efficient. Complimentary beverages and Walker cookies in the waiting area. Vraiment la meilleure façon de voyager vers le centre-ville de Toronto! C'est facile, efficace et rapide, j'adore! Breauvages gratuits offerts dans l'aire d'attente et petits biscuits sablés au beurre anglais.

Yelp
As soon as I told Kat F I'd be visiting her in Toronto she told met to book my flight on Porter, especially since they right into the city airport. Sometimes those cab rides from the airport can take longer than the actual flight (and in some cases be more expensive) so knowing that this airport was just a few minutes away from my hotel was a huge plus! This was by far one of the easiest airport experiences I've had in a long time. All the peeps who work here are super friendly (even security!), they offer free drinks and snacks and there's even free wifi! I had to take a few minute ferry ride to get to and from the airport, which was kinda cool, but personally I think it would be much easier and faster for everyone if they'd just build a bridge.

Yelp
If you ever plan to go to Toronto, I highly recommend flying into YTZ via Porter or Air Canada (the only two airlines that are housed there) because it's right in the heart of Toronto City. There's a small pickup/drop-off area for those who are driving in, shuttle buses, and a flowing taxi line just a few steps away from the airport. Check-ins are swift and custom officers are friendly. There's also a lounge with complimentary tea, coffee, soda, and cookies (!!!), plus plenty of seating area, free WiFi, and charging outlets at each seating area. When you arrive and depart, you'll take a 60 second ferry to/from the airport. The waiting area to/from can get crowded, especially with all of the luggage that everybody brings on.

Yelp
Porter really is flying refined, and Billy Bishop Airport is part of the great experience. In the past I've taken the subway into Union Station and then jumped on their courtesy shuttle to the island ferry, but this past weekend I drove down and parked my car for my quick trip. The Stadium Road parking lot isn't cheap, but it's a three minute walk from my car back to the building to enter the underground tunnel. There's even an Aroma espresso bar in the building to grab something before you take the ferry or tunnel across. Once in the airport on the island, moving through security was a breeze and then the lounge was comfortable with great amenities such as free coffee or tea in porcelain cups and saucers (not paper cups!), or food to purchase. Free newspapers and big comfy armchairs to relax in. There were always staff cleaning up in the lounge and the restrooms too. The gate to board the plane was a few steps away. On the return flight, very easy to exit the airport and walk back to my car. Whether you're flying Porter or Air Canada, it's very comfortable experience, much less hectic than Pearson.
