The people who work here are comically unpleasant every time, but the banana cake is the stuff of my dreams. Chocolate cake and carrot cake are also good, but you need the banana.

I recently purchased a Cake from the Tribeka location. I would like to start out by saying that I tried to resolve this with Billy’s before I came to write a review and I was left even more shocked by the lack of customer service than I was by the cake that I received. Also, they are going to comment that I am trying to “blackmail” them by writing this review. They will certainly put their account in the comments of this review, but this is more about principle at this point more than anything else. I clearly will not be able to work with them going forward to resolve my concerns. I chose this bakery because I wanted to support a local small business versus going to Magnolia bakery. I went into the Tribeca location to order the cake I wanted, in person, so there was no confusion as to the scope or complexity of the cake for my friend's 40th birthday. I was told by the kind employee that they don't take cake orders in person but that I should order the cake online and email the orders department after I place the order. I ordered a “hand decorated cake” from the website with an additional charge for more decor. I was happy to pay the amount if they delivered what I wanted based on the inspiration image I provided. I was emailed the next day that they were unable to do the fluting that I requested (which I felt was the complex portion of the cake I paid for) and we emailed about the color of the icing. See attached the images of the inspiration versus what was received. I picked up the cake on Friday at 5pm and the party was at 8pm so there was really no fixing what was made. I needed the cake for the party and took what was delivered and made some personal changes to the cake to try to salvage what I had requested vs what I received. Yes, we consumed the cake at the restaurant and realized that the cake was stale and very dry once we cut into it which came as a major disappointment even further. I expressed my concerns and disappointment to the bakery, not only with the dryness, but also the cost based on what was received. I paid for a more complex cake because I was asking for something different from what they offer normally. I felt that based on what I received, that the cost of the “hand decorated cake” was not justified. Here is what Billy's felt was worth the cost that I paid: The base price (without decorations or any other upgrades) for an 8” Vanilla Cake is $80. The Pastel Yellow frosting is an additional $10. The White Chocolate Drip is an additional $55. The total for your cake should have been $145. I paid $159 total. I'm sorry, but you are telling me that a white chocolate drizzle is $55? Empire Bakery does this same cake for $95 and will even do the fluting I asked for as part of the cost. Billy’s gave me a $16 refund but I find that unacceptable. Based on their website I felt that $95 -$105 would have warranted the cost of the cake. The difference is all I asked for. I was not expecting a full refund nor did I ask for a full refund since we consumed what little cake we did. Just beware of the bakery that you buy from. Take the review seriously

Google
Small bakery with big dessert energy. The staff was helpful and gave me notes on the best cupcakes to try. They had a great selection as well, even late in the day. I appreciate the guidance on how to store the baked goods and all. The German chocolate cupcakes were a hit and the quality is still great! I'll be back. I parked on the block and found the shop with ease.

I ordered a cake for my church’s small group and people really liked it. The texture was great and this cake was able to feed 20 despite its size. I specified in the delivery instructions that a late delivery is better and they delivered first thing in the morning 🫠 Like not even in the afternoon? I found that strange and very inconvenient. Hopefully they can work on that.

Disappointed with their lack of ability to do lettering. I ordered this 8’’ cake and paid $80 plus tax for the lettering to be done this way (lettering was free and it shows). I was so embarrassed I started laughing. I had to manually remove the lettering and buy multiple candles last minute to make it look better for my sister’s birthday. The taste was okay but definitely do not ask for anything written on it. Unfortunately I can’t take it back, I wish I had ordered it from a different place.

Google
i’ve passed by maybe a million times but walking by today — billy’s called my name. popped into see if they had any gluten free options, and behold .. yes they did! tried the chocolate cake vanilla buttercream option (they also had chocolate/chocolate) and it was a 4.5/5 — cake was a little dry but more rich than sweet, which i like. icing was sugary and yummy. space was warming but they could make it a little “stay a little longer” friendly! recommend for gf cupcake fix — and would love to see the flavor of month extend to gf in future!

Google
The chocolate chip cookies were good., the German chocolate cupcake was bitter, the regular chocolate cupcake was nasty, the banana pudding was good, and the cherry cheese cake was great. They also make a very good Chai latte

We purchased a cake for my daughter’s birthday party. When her boyfriend went to pick up the cake they were giving us a broken cake, it’s cracked in half!! When it was pointed out to them they only offered a replacement for TOMORROW. How is that helpful when the birthday party is today?!? They didn’t offer any solutions for today, this is completely unacceptable. When my daughter called asking about a refund they couldn’t answer any of her questions. How are they not able to answer questions about receiving a refund when the services/goods paid for were not provided? The cake was $143, not something to blink an eye to. I encourage anyone looking to purchase a cake avoid this bakery. Take your business to a company that cares about their clients. We will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as well. Thanks for ruining my daughter’s for ruining my daughter’s birthday!

Overall I am quite disappointed with the customer service. I made a preorder a day before with specific cupcakes shown on their website (it was a birthday so I ordered some birthday cupcakes). When I arrived the cashier said they only noted that I ordered an assortment, and just shrugged. She said she could just add little sugar hats on top to make it a birthday cupcake nonchalantly. When the person took my order on the phone they said I as able to pick specific flavours. We ended up with more chocolate than we wanted and no red velvet. If you can’t take a specific order that is fine but don’t say yes? Also none of the ones I ordered looked like the photos on the website. So I’m actually not even sure what I got in the end. If you do need to get a bunch, I suggest just going in person the day of and choosing from their stock at least you know what you are paying for. I also chose this place because it was deemed as the best around, the cupcakes themselves were pretty average. Cupcakes could have been fluffier and frosting less bland.

Yelp
Amazing cupcakes. A little off the beaten path but that just makes it quicker to get your order

Yelp
Okay, this bakery went downhill. I used to love getting their banana cake here. Everyone's birthday, I would either come here or go to D&D, since they offered Two Little Red Hens. I was indecisive where I should go for a cake that wasn't over the top and just subtle in terms of design. I didn't do milk because the cake is also disgustingly sweet, but love the design. I ended up remembering how much I love Billy's banana cake and saw they offer something that was fun and colorful and so I went here after many years of not ordering from here. They charge a five dollar fee, which is not included in the cake price for the circular confetti garnish. I'm not sure why I decided to pay them for something that could easily have done myself. I'm not even sure why they charge five dollars for this, because it did not require any type of effort at all. This cake was not what I remembered it to be, the former cake was a cake and now this is a banana bread with cream cheese. It wasn't moist but dry, and if I would have known they moved away from it tasting more like a cake and instead a bread, I could've just done this myself, because I actually make a really good banana bread. Very disappointed, because the people who I gave this cake to never had it and so again something that I had several times previously and raved about - ended up not being consistent in present time.

Yelp
I am so disappointed and should of followed the reviews beforehand. I used to work in the neighborhood ten years ago and Billy's was my go to spot for everything sweet. I got excited that I was back again. I'm not sure if it's new management bakers or what but this is not the Billy's I remember. Oh my they have fallen from grace Presentation is everything and the cupcakes were obviously old or they were trying to sell the misshaped cupcakes. Not attractive at all. Against my better judgement I ordered three cupcakes. They were HARD. Frosting HARD. Taste BAD. Like really bad. I want the old Billy's back please. The cupcakes are way too expensive to have such a dull presentation and poor taste. I went 1130am in the morning so maybe I got the batch from last night they were trying to sell before the fresh ones were put out. Keep that in mind.

Yelp
Meh. Maybe I am just too picky with my baked goods? Personally I feel that if I am paying a premium for a cake that it should be delicious. The crumb was terrible and the cake was slightly underbaked in the middle, but overbaked on the edges. Certainly very disappointed when considering the price paid for this cake.

Yelp
Service was weird. Cupcake was dry. I won't be back. I saw some people coming out with some good looking cupcakes. I thought I would treat myself and now I wish that I had not.

Yelp
I have a Billy's Bakery story. We ordered several dozen blue cupcakes for my baby shower nearly twenty years ago, and I still remember how they were a huge hit. Flash forward to this weekend. The place is small and cute. Everyone was nice. But the cupcakes were sort of frumpy and sad looking. The selection was small. The banana cupcake with Nutella frosting was dry (or stale) and didn't really taste like banana. The frosting was way too sweet. My daughter said the red velvet was "just okay." We will try again next time we're up in NY, but we were disappointed.

Yelp
I had to change my order to a different flavor, due to a guest's chocolate allergy. I was sold a cake that fell apart before I even got home. I came to find that, for my wedding party, I was sold a precut cake that had been re-frosted and decorated. I had to try to fix the sunken and broken frosting before my party the next afternoon. I was so excited and then...

Yelp
My wife came in there yesterday for Valentine's Day and bought 4 small cupcakes each one was $4.50. 3 out of 4 were all dried out and defiantly tasted like yesterday's left overs. At 4.50 a cupcake how could you have the nerve to sell stale cupcakes to people? I know I'm right because why was one not as dried out. We cut them up yesterday when we ate them to try different ones. The 3 all went in the garbage. SHAME on you! Would have made her bring them all back but she can't get there today. I would give it no stars but it wasn't possible. The one we ate was just ok. If you want to insist it wasn't stale that is even worse that would mean that is how you make them dry out not moist as all. They were horrible. Never again!!! (Save your money )

Yelp
The front for there production bakery so a bit on the low key side. Terrific cupcakes and a nice quiet location to sit and watch the street go by in a nice Tribeca neighborhood. I've stopped by a number of times as I like to stay in Tribeca and each time the cupcakes are reliable terrific.

Yelp
The very best cake in New York. Easy ordering process to boot. What more could you want?

Yelp
Just left the Tribeca location HIGHLY disappointed and bothered. It's Sunday, 4 pm and simply looking for the vegan gluten free cupcakes my little one loves and can actually eat, but when we walked in, not only were there none available, but there were no similar options whatsoever. However, that's not our complaint things happen and clearly everyone loves them as much as we do. But the stuff member was so dismissive, disengaged and rude that he literally drank from a water bottle and only answered us through nods of no. He never said a word, just held the bottle took sips and kept shaking his head no at us at one point rolling his eyes and dipping to the back when he tired of us. Such a disgrace.

Yelp
Ordered a cake for my daughter's bday. They wrote the wrong name on the cake and refused to do anything about it bc "the inscription is free." So you can ruin an expensive cake bc you did it for free? Make it make sense. Poor customer service.

Yelp
Really wanted a sweet treat after work and just stopped in. The Staff was so so so so nice and sweet and the place smelled great. Not the most up to date looking bakery and its a little dark but the staff really made the place. Very chill and sweet. I have been to another Billy's in the city and did not like the staff as much as I did at this location. Typically the cupcakes are so so...im looking forward to trying them again!

Yelp
I'm very confused by the reviews. We recently moved to Tribeca, and I needed to get some cupcakes for a birthday. They had an excellent assortment and they were *delicious*! I'm super picky about cupcakes too. Will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
I usually don't like leaving reviews like this but when an establishment falls so far behind the mark on customer service it's warranted. A cake was ordered a month in advance for a birthday party. Because my sons girlfriends bday party was planned for the 27th which was yesterday. He goes to pick up this over $140 cake and it's broken/cracked right down the middle upon pick up. You would think they would have offered some sort of remedy, considering the party is that day. But they didn't according to store policy if they mess up you either take the cake as is or you leave it for a full refund. And try and scramble to get a cake elsewhere. They did say he could pay full price for a totally different cake he didn't want . Also not helpful. The party was held with a broken cake. They did offer to remake the cake but it wouldn't be ready till the next day. Also not helpful. It's strange that no one in the bakery noticed the cake was broken cause it's pretty hard to miss. I notice there are 3 locations do all these locations have the same policy when they make mistakes which is no accountability. That's just so disappointing. I felt so bad this cake was a drag on her birthday party and added unwanted stress to her special day. I'm hoping at some point management will reach out and make this right . As of now I would not recommend this bakery. But I will update this post if this comes to a satisfactory resolution. And one final word of advice please do better.

Yelp
One of my fondest childhood memories was the red velvet birthday cakes my German grandmother used to make me each year. This was three decades before anyone knew what red velvet was. About 10 years ago I discovered Billy's midtown and had the closest red velvet experience I have had to my grandmother's cakes from the 70s. A few weeks ago I was in NY with my wife and daughter and I was so excited to bring them here. First disappointment was when we entered the store at 5pm there were no cakes anywhere, so no slice of red velvet for us. Just a case of cupcakes. We picked four cupcakes and the guy working paused and said, "this one is so stale I'm not going to charge you." We made it to a coffee shop and excitedly pulled out our cupcakes. Could not believe they were ALL stale! Like not edible stale. Dry, crumbly and terrible. We threw them away. We have never been SO disappointed in a bakery ever.

Yelp
Billy's Bakery makes the best carrot cake in NYC. It's absolutely perfect. This is my go to bakery for special occasions.

Yelp
It was my first time at this bakery. Right away you could smell the freshly baked cupcakes and pastries. Such a refreshing smell that made me excited to try everything! This bakery has monthly speciality cupcakes. For April, they had a coconut Easter themed cupcake which was tasty. But, I recommend this cupcake as it just tastes like a vanilla cupcake with a slight coconut kick. Stick with the traditional vanilla cupcake. I recommend trying the lemon cupcake and the confetti cupcake! There was nothing special about the Oreo cupcake or banana Nutella cupcake either. The Nutella flavor was very subtle and light. They also offer pre packaged mini cupcakes. This particular one had chocolate and vanilla. But, there's also lemon and red velvet too.

A J.

Yelp
The cakes are good but damn, everyone just seems so angry and annoyed in there. It feels uncomfortable to order when they don't utter a word and then ask for tip when you pay with your card. I'm all for tipping but at least greet the customer if you're gonna respond after by head movements only. Maybe people don't go in often bc of their attitude and things don't sell so when people do buy, they complain about the cupcakes being old and dry? I can confirm they're dry as hell and will crumble with every bite, making a mess. How do you keep stale cupcakes? Feed them or send them home with the employees so they don't go to waste. How do you sell stale and dry cupcakes? Such a waste of money. Truly awful I was embarrassed to give this to my friend.

Yelp
Delicious treats at an affordable price. I love every cupcake I've tried from this bakery. To me the banana is the absolute BEST. The treats are so moist and hit the spot each and every time. If you get the chance you have to try them out. So far I've had the following cupcakes red velvet, carrot cake, s'mores, and vanilla, all are delicious. Just get their variety pack and enjoy!

Yelp
If you are looking for a birthday cake, run to Billy's immediately. Billy's confetti cake is the most amazing birthday cake I have ever tasted. Everything is perfect: the frosting, the cake, the cream--- everything fresh, vanilla, buttery and just what you'd want a birthday cake to be. I also got: chocolate cupcakes: extremely chocolates frosting on top of a chocolate cake. Carrot cake: excellent cream cheese frosting with a moist carrot cake full of pineapples, carrots, nuts. Always a favorite of mine. Definitely worth the carbs!

Yelp
We order from here at least once per month - cupcakes, smallish cakes, cookies, other necessities for celebration. We recently couldn't pick up the cake and asked if it could be delivered. $30 for delivery of a cake is completely unreasonable, even for TriBeCa. If you decide to take tour order to stay, they have a cute cafe part with tables and chairs. They sell coffee to go and to stay. I would come here for a casual non-drinking meet up for sure. The treats are really good.

Yelp
Hey all. Excellent, classic, delicious cupcakes here. Billy's Bakery currently has 3 locations open during the pandemic: UWS, Chelsea, and Tribeca (which reopened in early Feb!). I'm here to rave about their "Mardi Gras" cupcake, which was inspired by the king cake. King cakes are a cinnamony-cakey-bread that are covered with icing and sprinkles/colored frosting (green for faith, gold for power, purple for justice). They're a Mardi Gras special. The cakes have a surprise good-luck baby figurine. ...Nola & Carnival have a VERY special place in my heart. So I'm proud to hype up Billy's Bakery's February-long specialty cupcake. Their Mardi Gras cupcake consists of a cinnamony cake base with cream cheese frosting & appropriately colored drizzle. And topped off with a lucky plastic baby! Simple and elegant. Delicious. And very transporting. Highly recommend. (Thank you for the brilliance & continued hard work, guys!)

Joanna S.

Yelp
Some of the cupcakes taste old and some are moist. Extremely surly service for the price.

Yelp
My favorite bakery in NYC. Crowd pleaser cake is amazing. Plus, the customer service was great. 10/10

Yelp
Haven't been to their other locations but this one in particular was pretty lacking. I don't know if it was the particular day I went or if it's always like this but their selection of cupcakes was almost non-existent. I ultimately settled on the Confetti cupcake only because out of the handful you can choose from, it looked the best. It looked like they had a few kinds of cookies and pies out as well, but nothing piqued my interest. The cupcake itself tasted fine. It wasn't spectacular nor terrible. The icing was very thick and very sweet. It was at times a bit too much, and I love sweets! Definitely needed a drink to help get it down. But I agree with the worker (who was wacky) that the confetti sprinkles were the best part... Interior was decorated nicely but seating was kind of chaotic. There were only 10 chairs in the entire shop and a bench against the wall. One of our tables was lopsided and would tip over if you leaned on it... at all. Wish I could've liked it better here though.
google avatar

Charles S.

Yelp
Cupcakes were delicious but the guy that rang me up had an attitude that he didn't have with the other people there for pickups. Don't have to be friendly but being unfriendly isn't ideal with customers.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years and they always do a great job. I've gotten cakes.. cupcakes and pies... Billy's should have a closer location in the upper west side... Or even Westchester.. I travel all the way from the Bronx to get pastries from them... A must go and a totally recommend!!

Yelp
Saw this little gem and decided to get something to try . Yummy night time dessert . Just the perfect size for munching with milk. Not to big but enough to try all the different flavors there is and to keep coming back for more!

Polina J.

Yelp
I generally like Billy's Bakery items. Have purchased their cupcakes and cakes for many occasions for my family and friends' celebrations. So I decided to order a birthday cake for my son's first birthday from them as well. If you want a custom cake - I'd say go elsewhere. The customer service wasn't great, we went back and forth with multiple different individuals, trying to explain the same idea of a cake I wanted over and over again. They weren't responsive or willing to work with me. Basically sent me to their webpage where all the cakes were as is with no alterations allowed. I really wanted a lemon cake so we ordered one. It was a basic round cake for 8 ppl - $80. The scribble on top of the cake wasn't even nice. The cake tasted fine but nothing special. I really wish I went with someone else. Felt like a ton of money for a cake that I could have gotten at Whole Foods, plus customer service would have been better. Disappointing.

Yelp
Billy's is wiggity wiggitity wack. Ordered a cake for my gf's 30th birthday and decided to come here. I remember having a slice of banana cake from here almost a decade ago so I figured it would be good. First off, the cake was $140 for a basic homemade vanilla cake. I chose the delivery option and it was delivered without a hitch. Upon receiving the cake, i noticed that the p's in happy birthday were a bit scrunched up, but once again, no big deal (it's cake). What I wasn't able to get past was the staleness in the cake. It tasted so stale and dry that i couldn't believe it. They apparently have some 24hr period that you have to notify them about the cake, but IMO, when you charge that type of price tag, you OWN the quality of your work. Nonetheless to say, there are alot of smaller bakeries that can bake circles around this place and would most likely give you much more for your buck. Don't buy from this place or any of their other locations.

Jinny P.

Yelp
Came here bc of my friend's suggestion to give Billy's cupcakes a try, but unfortunately, I left the place a little disappointed because the cupcake was stale. We brought it to their attention and they gave us a new one, but the new one was still very dry. I always prefer the more moist cake. Their cupcake wasn't really my style. We also tried the banana pudding, which was much better. Not too sweet, very soft, chunky bananas. And you get to keep the cute jar. Cute store. The place is like mom's kitchen in an old country house. Which... is why I thought it was odd to be located in Tribeca.
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
This place comes in a close 2nd to the original Billy's in Chelsea. The space is roomier and just as cute, done in an Eastery yellow-blue color scheme. I found myself in this part of Tribeca and decided to grab a few dozen mini cupcakes. Still as delicious as I remember, moist and flavorful in every bite. They're perfect bite-size morsels to satiate your sweet tooth, in an array of flavors including my favorites banana and carrot, both with cream cheese frosting. The chocolate with chocolate buttercream is also a winner, whereas the yellow daisy cupcake is a bit sweet for me. The space would be nice to hang out in as they have a few round tables. And this location sees less foot traffic than Chelsea's, which is a win-win.

Christina S.

Yelp
Too many bakeries in Manhattan to do this sloppy of a job. Ordered a Crowd Pleaser Cake for a birthday and we received a cake poorly iced with uneven layers (see pics), dry and all over sloppy. I sent the pics to management and she disagreed that the layers were uneven (maybe she needs glasses?) and she stood by the product. She didn't care less that I was dissatisfied with it. Seriously, my 10 year old could have iced it better. Customer service is generally pretty blah and staff unfriendly. Since there are so many bakeries to choose from in Manhattan I choose not to patron this one anymore and I tell all my colleagues to get their birthday cakes elsewhere.

Lori N.

Yelp
Service was great. I was in and out with my cake but I have to say the cake was DRYYYYY. For the price, I would imagine a bit more flavor and not be so over baked. Ekk there's plenty of other bakeries in NYC, go somewhere else

Yelp
Cute little spot in Tribeca. The guy behind the counter was really friendly and helpful. We ordered hot chocolate and iced chocolate and even though he said it was his first time making the iced chocolate it was amazing. The banana pudding in a cup was so good and exactly the snack I needed that cold afternoon. Chocolate chip cookies were excellent as well. That same week I realized that they are featured in the movie Late Night with Mindy Kaling. She brings

Yelp
Frighteningly enough, as someone who never finds things too sweet (I used to eat spoonfuls of white sugar as a kid and would dump white sugar on everything from ham to eggs to vegetables), I thought the frosting on almost all of the baked goods that I've tried from Billy's to be almost unbearably sweet. Of course, that didn't stop me from eating too much of Billy's and falling into a mid-afternoon sugar coma. - Mini sprinkles cupcakes. I find Melissa's has cornered the market on bite-size cupcakes and anything else can't compare with that next level of moistness (hate that word). Plus, Melissa's is decadent enough that I can stop myself at 2 or 3. With Billy's, because they're so damn deceptively fluffy, I'll eat the whole tray and find myself still reaching for more. - Carrot cake. My boyfriend will kill me if I say I liked this one more than his made-from-scratch version but this was comparable. What destroyed me was the buttercream frosting - so sweet and thick that I could almost taste the sugar crystals. - Red velvet cake. I'm a Grinch who doesn't think red velvet anything is all that wow-worthy - it's just red food coloring, am I right? Billy's version was nice and moist, even after a night in the fridge, which I suppose speaks to the amount of butter or oil holding everything together. Very rich and, again, super sweet frosting. This has only made me more pro-cake and anti-frosting. I wolfed down a few bites when I was super hungry but in a more sober state I would have scraped off all the frosting. Bottom line: don't come here for anything less than a ridiculous sugar high. Drink lots of water to cut down on the sugar.

Yelp
I actually came across this place which was casually referenced in a New York Times article so maybe my expectations were a little high since I was EXTREMELY dissappointed in the cupcake I ordered. And, they don't have a restroom for customers to use. I ordered a standard chocolate cupcake with white icing. The cake part was so-so and the icing tasted as if it were store bought! I felt there was no trace of homemade goodness at all with this cupcake. Interestingly, the three people who came in behind me and the one in front of me were there to pick up birthday cakes. Not sure if it was the first time these customers purchased a cake from Billy's, but to be fair, they purchased them. I visited the store in Tribeca but I imagine their store in Chelsea is just the same. I would save yourself a trip and go to Molly's Cupcakes.

Yelp
Billy's Bakery banana cake is one of my favorite desserts ever, full stop. Even my boyfriend, who hates cream cheese frosting (not sure what's wrong with him), admits that it's pretty good. I also have had their chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, which I picked up for said boyfriend's birthday -- chocolate on chocolate is generally way too rich for me, but I loved this! The cake was really moist and the frosting somehow managed to not be overbearingly sweet. So this review would be five stars for taste, but why are the people in this store so mean??? The girl at the register gave me such attitude while I was trying to buy my cake, and got frustrated when I took a minute to think about what I wanted (while there was NO ONE else in the store). Sorry, don't they pay you to work here?

Yelp
I'm really sad that I have to write this review because I LOVE Billy's Banana Cake. Today to treat myself, I went in Billy's for a slice and once again they have no cake to slice. So against my better judgment, I get two banana cupcakes ( I knew they was probably spoiled) and yep, they are spoiled. I'm truly disappointed. I will still shop at Billy's but no slice, no buy!!!

Yelp
So the products themselves are good. Had cheesecake, espresso. Was wonderfully prepared. The atmosphere is nice and it was not crowded on a weekday evening. My wife has never been at Billy's and we had picked a night, searched for parking, parked and were glad to be inside. My wife had asked to use the restroom. The guy behind the counter said they did not have one. We asked if they relieve themselves at McDonalds or would they be as so kind to let a lady use the restroom? Out strolls the manager, who enjoys his authority over who gets to use the restroom in his fine establishment. He tells us "It's for employees only because we have hot ovens in the bakery." I get it, thats where hot ovens belong, I think my wife can navigate around them. Long story short it took ten minutes of conversation to use the restroom. At the price point of the goods, how about empathetic customer service and a restroom? It's the city, there are plenty of alternatives.

Yelp
I found this place via food for all! I didn't know they have discounted cakes & cookies via the app. This is awesome to bring some goodies to parties or just to the office

Yelp
The german chocolate was rich as cake should be. Satisfied my craving for coconut. Yum! Great company and a cup of milk added to the mix.

Yelp
If you like a flavorful dense cake and thick sugary frosting then look no further. Great simple look as well. I tend to prefer dense cakes and appreciate the cupcakes taste as advertised (as opposed to just sugary colored cake), but I typically hold the frosting unless it's airy and light. I definitely prefer Billy's over Sprinkles, bit my whole heart belongs to a bakery hailing from Long Beach (CA) or Chicago. I was the first to arrive for a sweet and wish there were better/more options. Another couple cons...not a fan the the frosting and a fresh strawberry should be used instead of the wrinkled mess. My other thought is I feel like these cupcakes were baked another day... day old perhaps? 3 1/2 stars for a cute clean bakery, somewhat moist, dense and flavorful cakes.

Yelp
Saturday I had promised my fiance doughnuts. I wasn't able to hit up a doughnut shop that I wanted to check out, so I decided he wouldn't mind (that much) if I got him cupcakes instead. I walked into Billy's and it was dead. It was 7 (and they close at 8). The guy manning the front counter had been in the back, but realized there was a customer and came out. I was looking over the cupcakes trying to make my decision, so half joking I said, 'oh don't worry, I'm still deciding you have about a half hour.' He took it in stride, and responded, well in that case, I'll just go hang out in the back, pretended he was going to walk in the back, then turned and said, 'just kidding! I wouldn't leave you.' Definitely points for understanding and properly reacting to my sense of humor. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the name of the guy who helped me. However, he was super attentive, was able to answer all my questions about the flavors, and what was in them, ingredient-wise. I got carrot cake, s'more, banana Nutella, red velvet, salted caramel bourbon and confetti. Cupcakes were so good. My fiancé was super happy with them. His favorite? Shocking not any of the special favors. He loved the confetti one. Don't worry Billy's, my fiancé will always need cupcakes, so I'll make my way back.

Yelp
Billy's Carrot Cake was phenomenal and just set my Carrot Cake benchmark. What really made it so scrumptious and unique was the texture of the cake. A real hearty (yet light) crumbly texture so un-cake like and almost akin to a multigrain bread. Packed into the cake were shreds of carrot, raisins, and a most pleasant cinnamon/nutmeg flavor. Cream cheese frosting was very soft and smooth yet still firm enough to hold it's structure when subject to the tines of a fork. Sweetness level was in great balance as neither the cream cheese frosting nor the cake were overly sweet, a trait very much welcome (some cake frosting can be unbearably sweet). A must try! The Snicker Doodle cookie was a cookie-cutter (no puns intended) version, so there was nothing notably special. It was clearly overshadowed by it's larger and more decadent Carrot Cake brethren. Go forth and seek a slice of the Carrot Cake (or Carrot Cake cupcake as I'm told it's the same, albeit smaller). Billy can bake a mean a** Carrot Cake!

Yelp
One of the driest cupcakes I've ever had. One bite and I threw it in the garbage. Trying this place a 3rd time in the last couple of years and has been consistently bad.
