Billy's will forever be a favorite for me. The steak tips are excellent the chicken wings and fingers are great. Well seasoned and big size pieces not those lil wing dings other take out spots give. Here you really get chicken. Salads are made fresh and the owners are fun to chat with...

Yo 3 people in my home tore ribs up. My hubby and son wanted mac and cheese. Lady joke told my hubby mac and cheese none in the container. Definitely will go in the future.

I’ve ordered food twice in one week and it was incredible. I live 4 minutes in walking distance from the restaurant though I drive to it sometimes. I love the food and it’s quick and delicious.

got an egg and pepper sub but no pics sorry cause I ate it so fast (and it was good). seems they don’t have limited in store dining at the moment, but pretty full menu. recommended.

Had thee most delicious extra cheese pizza from here a few nights ago. Missed the delivery drivers call so I had to wait extra long for him to come back around to me. I don’t hold it against them. If it were summer/spring I would have expected him to get out of the car and ring the bell but not in this freezing weather. So, ok that was my fault and like I said the pizza was delicious. I decided to order again tonight and the difference between what I got then and what I have now is striking. Ain’t no way this is a fresh made-to-order pizza. The crust is hard like the pizza had been reheated. It’s stale and tasteless. Won’t be ordering again.

BBQ Chicken Breast: The sauce is good, sweet enough & peppery! Chicken Breast are thin cutlets with a nice char on them, but good amount of them in the plate for the price!!! The Collard Greens: Taste like A LOT of Vinegar & Pepper, and the leaves are very large. Not my favorite at all. Missing onion & garlic flavor. French Fries: They were ok, but shouldn’t be placed beside wet sides (like greens). They were soggy because of this. **Wish they had Mac & Cheese on their menu, that would elevate any BBQ meal.

I can’t make this story up I call up for delivery ribs and chicken that comes with 2 sides $30 but I wanted onion rings which means I can only get 1 side because they are made fresh I received my order with all my onion rings being burnt I call and the clerk states I knew you were going to call about the onion rings So I ask why would you send them, she states the owner cooked them and sent them I then speak to him and he tells me there was no time to make new order next time you get free order of onion rings This is what you get for $30 from the owner of Billy’s Texas Barbecue No refund nothing but next time There will be no next time and you should never eat there too

The chicken wings are awesome. The chicken soup is also awesome. Steak and cheese subs not so much they seem to forget to put the cheese even if you ask for extra cheese you still get no cheese. I've tried a few times to get a steak and cheese made correctly and I've been unsuccessful I will order from them again just not the steak and "cheese" sub. the picture I included is half of a large steak and cheese with extra cheese sub.

First of all, simply disregard all the one star ratings. I live a walk away, and kinda sorta know the neighborhood. The poor ratings are generally from non-yelpers, tourists looking for BBQ, or someone who had a beef with the service. pssst: Or a competitor. This establishment is owned and operated by a Greek couple who has been doing this for 30+ years. At one point, apparently during a 1990 TX BBQ fad, the wife sent the husband down to TX for 30 days to learn TX BBQ. They rebranded their sandwich/pizza shop. To my New England palate, the BBQ is okay, but not sensational. That is the downside: "Okay" BBQ. The upside is that this is a couple who has been operating this for 30+ years. It is the "go to" joint for all the employees, lawyers, and judges next door at Dorchester District Court. I'm going with their judgment rather than the fly-by review Yelpers. The sandwiches are good, the pizza (depending upon your sensitivity) is fine, and the value sensational. It is a Dorchester sandwich/pizza joint, don't get me wrong. But it is this couple's dream, and, hey, it's pretty f***ng good!

Amazing food got the bbq combo of two steak tips and chicken with potato salad and collard greens everything was to die for tips were cooked perfectly medium rare and the chicken was so easy to cut with a plastic knife and fork the owner Billy such a fine gentleman asked me where I was from how I heard about him took the time out to chat if I could give more than a 5 star rating and review I would I'm definitely going back soon to try more of the menu. All the staff were super friendly and when asking about recommendations gave superb advice which will always make me want to visit again plenty of seating all booths were open and spotless when arriving after 1pm fast friendly service can't say anything more 5 plus stars thank you Billy for the amazing meal and to your staff for the hospitality.

Food is always hot, fresh and delicious. Always busy with great service. Ambiance is a great and can always anticipate on a few laughs from the locals. I visit Billy's often and have never had a complaint. Chicken fingers are ridiculous must try! Pizza is always fresh and delicious. Billy's Rules!

Hey people if you believe in me and my absolute great taste for comfort foods of all cultires you will take my word and forget about all that slow and low (and tasteless crap) BBQ ribs and come here to Billy's in the heart of Historic Codman Square in Dorchester. They have the tastiest, hugest BBQ Spare Ribs here charred to perfection then slatjered in awesome BBQ Sauce tjhese are not dainty St Louis Style Ribs but some funky ol old style ribs where they leave the fatty knob on St Louis Ribs for a propper Spare Rib Experience. When you order Billy Himself might be there he's been in the Business over 30 years and is a great person Order The Rib Dinner Plate it Brings five huge center cut ribs and two sides from a big variety I usually get Collard Greens and Rice Pilaf. Thank me later and them José sent you (Chris's friend).

the bbq wings are the best!! it's cooked properly and and well seasoned every time i go there the wings taste the exact same i like that a lot

The beef was hard. The bbq sauce was raw. I was so disappointed that I didn't even want my money back. Everything was disgusting. The chicken was not cooked and was burned. The bbq sauce tasted sour like they just threw it on there. The potatoes in the potatoe salad was hard and tasted like it wasn't even cooked. So disappointing. Smh. Never again.

My favorite reliable restaurant in the neighborhood. The food is freshly made and you can taste it. The couple behind the counter are friendly and personable whether I call them on the phone or pop by for a pickup. The onion rings are a must. They are the best I have ever tasted with just ketchup. You can actually taste the sweet onions. Check out the wings. Not prepackaged. Taste good plain, BBQ or with buffalo sauce. Fries are crisp and non-greasy on the outside and soft on the inside. Also love the saucy BBQ ribs, sweet potatoes and collard greens. Will try the burgers and fish & chips next. Call in your order, stop by and pick it up or have it delivered. "Billy's Texas BBQ" does not serve BBQ, is not run by a guy named Billy and has Zero to do with Texas. In fact, if a Texan walked in he wouldn't recognize the food here as 'BBQ' anymore than a person from China would recognize Crab Rangoon or a Frenchman with whatever Panera calls a 'Soufflee'. (Not that these are bad foods. I love them.) This take out place is run by a Greek (maybe Lebanese) couple who serve up typical Greek style pizza (that is, greasy pan pizza that most folks in MA and NH recognize as standard pizza fare). They also, like most pizza joints of its ilk, serve up subs, fried finger foods, salads and more. I came looking for BBQ. I did not find it. What Billy's offers under their BBQ menu is parboiled ribs and chicken (wings and breasts) that are finished on their grill to warm it through and give it charred markings. They then serve it submerged in tangy BBQ sauce that is more like the kind of sauce served on Roast Beef than at smokehouses know for real BBQ. When I say "Submerged" I mean it. If my container were tilted only slightly the sauce would pour off the side. Now, for what it was I'd say it wasn't awful. The amount of food for the money was pretty decent and I can understand the use of so much sauce - the meat isn't seasoned at all before hand so the only flavor you get is there. I didn't like the flavor much and I was hoping for, at the very least, something slow cooked even if it weren't smoked. So, if you are local to the neighborhood and looking for pizza and subs I bet you could do worse. Keep looking for BBQ though.

This neighborhood spot has the best fish & chip. Billy's has been there for many years but this was my first time but it won't be my last..

Ordered the rib dinner. Plenty of just ok ribs and blah potato salad. Collards were decent. Drinks were cold ,store was hot as a sauna. A customer farted loudly while we were waiting for our food. And DIRTY when was the last time the tables were washed?

I've been going to Billy's off and on for years now. The service is prompt, though if you're ordering in the middle of the day, call your order in. You're still going to have to wait 'bout 10-15 mins. for it, but it's the thought that counts, right? Hmmm...I've gone there for a slice, which is decent, the fish and chips were surprisingly good--not too saturated with grease, and the fries were crispy and not coated (yes!), and I've also had a burger. Again, don't try to get fancy with it--all burgers are cooked well done. The cold subs are also good (and they have smoked turkey, which is a nice option). Super owners who have been there forever and who have the requisite sense of humor required to run a business in these parts. This being Codman Square (and don't get me wrong--I have an affection for C.S. that grows by the day), you're going to get some sensational people watching: Billy's has a steady stream of locals, any of whom might hit you up for some change or something more scintillating (I'll leave that to your imagination). Overall, if you're in the neighborhood and want a convenient sub shop, Billy's is it (and he actually works behind the counter).

Not very hygienic. Woman behind the counter did not wash her hands or wear gloves when touching my food and the pizza was disgusting and made with cheap ingredients. I don't expect gourmet pizza but that just turned my stomach and I would never return

This is hands down the WORST pizza i have ever had in my entire life! The sauce is bland & it was absolutely dripping with grease. Disgusting. Biggest waste of $5.50 ever. They ought to be ashamed. Smh

This place is run by the cutest couple, the wife and husband are sweet and extremely welcoming. I would come here just to say hello to them. The food is also good, my favorite is the pizza and chicken, but my family and friends love their burgers, subs, pretty much the whole menu. Definitely an essential neighborhood pizza spot to visit, if you do order take out call early on weekends as they can get busy.

Really fantastic saucy bbq. Tons of delishious bbq sauce - so you were forewarned if you like dry rub bbq. Amount of food for the price is fantastic - ribs are hug, bbq chicken is tender. The sweet potatoes and collards are great sides. Not the greatest place to eat in, atmosphere is pretty bleak and great food takes time. But for pick up and delivery, you can't beat it. Atmosphere is exactly what it's supposed to be - doesn't make me pause to give five stars for one second. Also, they deliver until 11pm on Saturday nights! How great is THAT?

My go-to for a no frills grilled chicken salad or fried (cod) fish sandwich. Don't get fancy here or risk being disappointed.

Lived around the corner for a good year until I actually tried this place. Staff is friendly for sure, especially the older/middle aged lady who answers the phone and works the counter. Their pizza is good, that's been my go to place. I don't care for pizza but my hubby and kids love their pizza. Subs and salads are good too. The only thing that turned me off this place is the last 2 times I ordered I had a serious issue with the chicken. The first time I ordered buffalo wings, and they were practically raw inside. I mean bloody. I called and complained and was told to come back over, they made me a new order. Of course I was annoyed at having to walk back while the rest of my family was eating their pizza. But not the end of the world, the 2nd order was ok. The last time I ordered, I ordered fried wings (no sauce). When I tell you this chicken was NOT cleaned, UGH! There were feathers EVERYWHERE, on each piece of chicken. Not one stray feather here or there I mean it looked like someone killed the chicken and immediately after threw his wings in a deep fryer. Threw them out, did not bother to complain, and have not patronized this business since.

This is definitely my favorite place to eat when I come back from breaks. They have the BEST wing dings around. Extremely crispy and always well seasoned. Their BBQ ribs are to die for! I typically get the side of collard greens and yams (and I never regret it). Amazing staff and place! Highly recommend. The wait is worth it!

Waited on hold for four min just to receive terrible service. Wings and tips were cold and over dressed with bbq sauce. Order elsewhere!!!

You gotta Remind Them Not to Over Cook You're Pizza.. It's Run By A Husband and Wife super sweet very hands on the husband even makes deliveries himself. I recommend a salad there jam packed with meat and greens nice and Fresh and Of course The BBQ Chicken and Ribs so so good he grills them on a open Flame to die for and the sauce is sweet

A few weeks ago there was a detour in my neighborhood which brought me to Washington street. As I was looking around at the shops I saw a sign for this place and saw they delivered (I am always looking for new delivery options) One Friday night I decided to call this place. Luckily they delivered to my neighborhood and they have fall off the bone ribs with an amazing sauce. Small complaint but no big deal, I wish they had corn bread because it would have complimented the ribs well. I did like the sweet potatoes - with brown sugar of course. Thank goodness there was a detour in my neighborhood or I would have never found out about this place!

Best pizza delicious ribs sweet potatoes and all at a good price my favorite place in Dorchester always get 2 sides of sweet potatoes the tropical punch a small ch with extra sauce crispy, and sometimes a side of ribs all for no more than 20$! Love it

Billy, the owner, is super hospitable. He's well known in the neighborhood. Food isn't too bad until you come in on a night where his wife is working...she's known to not wash her hands and will handle money, wipe her nose, and will dress your steak and cheese. Just like that.

They messed up my order but that fine but when I told them I order 2 larges they dumped the meat into a large sub roll and called it a large and charhed us for a large there not even enough meat to spread to the sides. Hair in the lettuce, no gloves im Never coming back here with there service again.

Food was good. Customer Service sucks. Don't tell me you can accept credit cards but can't refund money back to credit cards. Then offer me a different meal instead. It's obvious what I ordered is what I wanted. Lost my money and wasted food, because it wasn't what I ordered. Apparently, their card machine can't refund money; bull crap. Never ever again.

Tried to order delivery.. found out they keep your credit card on file....cashier was asking questions about my previous locations...idk what's goin on and how they knew my other address because I rarely ever called them...and I a card I no longer use no stars or service for me... Yelp makes you give a star but I wouldn't give them not a one

I've been ordering here from years.. Since I was kid actually. Never had any major problems until now. Ordered food, waited over an hour for it only to get the wrong sides. I called back and they said they'd send the sides.. 40min later. No sides. I call back and ask to speak to a manager and he goes off about his employees not showing up and all these people ordering because it's 1st. WTF does that have to do with my food? He ended the convo with saying "Whatever! Just call your credit card and take the charges off!" Totally unprofessional and they just lost a long time customer.

Never again will i order from hear I ordered my food at 8pm and its 11:46 an I still have yet to receive my food smh poor poor poorrrrrr service mind u I live 2 streets away ... Ridiculous!!!!!

The food is good but the customer service is horrible!!!! I ordered shrimp broccoli ziti and they sent me chicken broccoli instead. I called back and explained that I do not eat chicken and asked them to send me the shrimp pasta I ordered. They put me on hold so I called back a few times with the same result -- being put on hold. 4 hours later at 11pm they called me back. Why would I want my food at that time? Another time I ordered a steak tip salad and It came with only 6 tiny pieces of steak on it. Ridiculous. When I called to speak to the manager (after being put on hold various times) he started going off about being super busy. He should be grateful his business is busy. When you ask for a manager and he is unprofessional There is no hope. Guess the customer is not their priority.

Good Food,Fast Delivery,Nice Men,VERYYYYYYYY reasonable pricing (even w/ delivery charge).They also have late hours and there food actually taste like what you ordered not some watered down version.Bottom line GR8 soul food will continue to come back for more and more and more.=D
