Neighborhoods in Asheville

"Biltmore Village is the township just outside of the Vanderbilt’s former home, the Biltmore House. Filled with historical landmarks such as the Cathedral of All Souls, this touristy part of town that inspires a nostalgia for old world Asheville. With a restaurant in a former train depot, the Village Wayside Bar & Grille, and contemporary stores like Lilly Pulitzer, the community is an unusual juxtaposition of old and new." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Yelp
This "charming" area is located just outside and across the steet from the famous Biltmore Estate. This "village" was originally constructed to house the artisas, craftsman and builders whoe were working on the Biltmore Estate. Many of the buildings in Biltomre Village dae back to the days when Biltmore was being constructed. Today, the buildings house a varity of high-end retail shops with a spattering of unique craft and artisan shops. THe area also includes a variety of dining options. There is limited signage that explains the historic signifance of any of the building and littel evidence to connet to past with the present. IMHO, thi is a fancye, high-end retail complex that just happens to be housed in some old (poosbly hostroic) buildings.

Yelp
The Historic Biltmore Village Village is a cute stretch of shops & restaurants. We stopped here on an afternoon while visiting Asheville. It's a great place to admire the architecture and shop for souvenirs. There is a cute Christmas shoppe that we spent some money for a Christmas tree souvenir. If you're not visiting the Biltmore Hotel, which costs a lot of money per person, this is a great alternative destination. You can't see the hotel from anywhere because it's a private estate, but at least you can shop in the same vicinity. Parking was easy & free to find, so if you're worried about that, don't. There is a beautiful church there and even if you're not into that, the architecture itself speaks volumes. I love old, quaint, and beautiful architecture and that's why it caught my eye. It's a great place to stroll for a morning or afternoon and kid friendly.

Yelp
This village is across from the gate to the Vanderbilt mansion. It's quaint and pretty with brick buildings. We walked around to get steps in, but there were very few people mingling about on a Saturday morning. There are several clothing boutiques, and some historical buildings. I think people from the 1800s lived here. Many may have worked at the Vanderbilt estate. We also stepped inside the McDonald's. It has rod-iron railings, a chandelier, and a player piano. Quite unique. Leaving, we drove to the River Art Walk.

Yelp
Not many local type shops as I would hope for, seemed empty. Not too many good resturant choices.

Yelp
This is a great looking village that is filled with many nice store shops restaurants all kinds of things. It's nothing really for me to be honest because I don't shop fancy things my wife was really excited seeing all the stuff and I enjoyed getting out and walking around and looking at all the buildings and exploring that's the kind of things I like to do so it's very visually appealing and which is why I'm giving it five stars because it mean it is beautiful for sure and it's definitely worth checking out when you're in the area. I did not get to go to Biltmore because it's so expensive and my kids would not enjoy it whatsoever but we did walk around the village and I didn't joy seeing the sights

Yelp
We have been here on a couple of occasions now. On one busy weekend the parking was a bit tricky, there seems to be a couple of pay lots though. We ended up parking for free about a ten minute walk outside of the village. I'd say this is a good activity to combine with a visit to the Biltmore. The town itself is charming, but it's mostly a bunch of pricier shops and eateries. I don't recommend the Mexican Cantina, it has been mediocre the both times we ate here. This may sound a little weird, but I highly recommend visiting the historic looking McDonald's on this street. It would be a fun place to take kids or a great place to eat if you are on a budget. This fast food establishment is quite fancy for the chain and has an old timey vibe with it's player piano. I'd budget 45-90 minutes to visit this street.

Yelp
It is so charming and so quaint. I didn't actually go in anywhere nor did I get out of the car has parking looked tough. What we mostly did was drive around and admire the picturesque scenery and the charming little shops. The area is Dotted with them. Next time I will have to park and walk around a bit. The architecture is just wonderful and I did get to see that historic McDonald's which was unbelievably cool and didn't look like any McDonald's I've ever seen before. The uniqueness of the area is wonderful and the eye-catching craftsmanship of the buildings is a lot of fun to admire. In short this is everything all the review were say it is. We really enjoyed looking around the village and I'd recommend anybody in the area come down and take a look.

Yelp
The village is a nice area to walk around and shop / eat / play with your family. We went to the farm first and looked at all of the animals. We were able to pet several of them. They did keep track of how many people entered, and tried to ensure that everyone was wearing a mask in this time of COVID19. It is a state mandate now, but there are still those who think they're too cool for masks. Anyway. Thank you to the staff for a great time at the farm. The rest of the village had shops and food eateries that were either open or on limited hours / access due to the regulations. We had a great time though, and look forward to coming back again.

Yelp
The room is very average. It is what you would expect from any marriott or Hilton. If you come for a holiday do not waste your money. We came for the 4th. We were competely mislead by employees where fireworks were and our child was extremely disappointed. We would not ever come back for a holiday. For the house tour it is worth it ... do not stay here though. We found downtown is a significantly better experience.

Yelp
This place is awesome if you are looking for some great places to shop in Asheville, NC. They offer a lot of upscale shops like Lilly Pulitzer, Lululemon, Southern Tide, and others, etc... Also you can grab you a wonderful Steak at RuthChris Steakhouse too.

Yelp
Biltmore Village is a small collection of restaurants and shops located a short distance from the entrance gate to the Biltmore Estate. The buildings mostly follow a similar pattern of construction that suggests a long-ago era. Even the McDonalds in this area was built to fit in, and the result is actually pretty cool. You can walk the entire area is less than hour perhaps, and that's not a bad idea since parking can be a monster problem (and ticketing will surely follow). Clothing and gift shops of varying description predominate in the village, and when it's time to eat we especially like The Cantina Mexican restaurant. Overall it's an attractive place to spend some time, and its location near hotels makes it easy for visitors to enjoy it.

Yelp
Biltmore Village is located near the entrance of the Biltmore Estate and the buildings retain the 1890's look to emulate an English village. Shops such as Chico's, Tervis, Williams Sonoma, and boutiques are housed inside the European facades. There is even a Lululemon store in a former Pharmacy building. The McDonald's and Ruth's Chris and Starbucks also retain the historic look to mask the modern icons in the look of a 19th century village. The All Saints Cathedral is also a beautiful anchor. As far as restaurant, I recommend the Corner Kitchen for breakfast and Well- Bred cafe for desserts. The village is also home to a Craft shop and there is an arts and crafts fair in the village every August with over 200 artisans. The Village is within walking distance of the Grand Bohemian hotel and makes it a great option to stroll around and dine and shop.

Yelp
It is a neat place to stroll through in an afternoon if you do not have anything else to do, but I wouldn't recommend it as a "destination". There are high end shops as well as tourist-trap shops. A full listing of their shops at http://www.historicbiltmorevillage.com/retail/ . My favorite places within Biltmore Village: ~Wayside Grill (deeeeelicious food, unique cocktails, some draft craft beers ~Catawba Brewing ~Pour ~Hi-Wire ~MTN Merch - the best shop in all of Asheville for all things with creative Asheville logos etc

Yelp
As far as historical downtowns go, Biltmore village is quaint and nicely renovated with small specialty shops and eateries. Parking is always a challenge, so be prepared. The actual village area is quite small and can walked in about an hour. It is conveniently located close to entrance to the Biltmore Estate, so it makes sense to combine visits

Yelp
Nice to stroll around the historic style buildings on cobble stone for an hour or so. I don't know the full background to the village, but something something it was built for people working at the Biltmore Estates. A lot of high end boutiques, mainly clothing. The traditional facades retained, even on the McDonalds building.

Yelp
Biltmore Village was conceived by a visionary millionaire, designed by world-renowned architects and home to humble estate workers, Biltmore Village was created as a counterpart to Biltmore Estate. It was a planned community for estate workers as well as an independent community all its own. It has evolved and changed in the years since. Today, it is hard to classify the village. It's a bustling, contemporary shopping destination - home to both national retail outlets and one-of-a-kind independent shops. It's the perfect night out for foodies and friends. It's a must see site for history buffs and architecture aficionados. It is, in short, a destination unlike any other. That's being said Biltmore Village is quaint brick stone roads to walk around on and it's filled with tourists. The parking is tight and confusing it surly does not help that 80% of the cars driving around here have license plates from other states. There are a bunch of hotels around here where a lot of people stay that visit the Biltmore Estate, i feel sorry for everybody that try's to sleep here , the train is going by all night, back and forth honking constantly . Biltmore Village has a bunch of restaurants for every taste or wallet from Ruth chris to Macdonalds ( that has literally Golden Arches here and as I ve been told a grand piano inside.) I just hope the visitors don't think this is the actual Asheville itself and go to the city and experience the food there. The plenty of stores have gifts and crafts you can take home from WNC and there is a couple of banks a church and a Starbucks. I live here and drive by or through every other day to see it you need about one hour or so , I for sure would not stay here because of the noise it's ok to see it once and then concentrate on the beautiful mountains

Yelp
This is a typical tourist trap. I didn't really see any shops that were anything special. I did like the building facades. I enjoyed strolling around for an hour.
