Muziekgebouw aan ‘t Ij/Bimhuis

"In a sleek, Danish-designed building on the IJ River, this contemporary music venue sports a concert hall with flexible walls, chairs, ceiling, and floor, making it ideal for intimate chamber music performances, as well as symphony productions. More than 250 concerts each season feature classical, electronic, and world music. Integrated into the building is a striking 3D black box where Bimhuis presents contemporary jazz." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Google
Iconic jazz club in Amsterdam, overlooking the docks and water, with live jazz most days of the week. The gig we went to was great, up and coming German musicians - a decent sized venue with lots of seats. Acoustics could have been better, but they did settle down as the gig went on. Good choice of drinks at the bar, although the layout of the corridors/cloak room/bar/toilets was a bit unusual and cramped, so difficult to get in line for drinks and toilets etc. Overall a good venue for modern jazz lovers.

Better to make reservation in advance. Food was nice, sunset stunning and concert wonderful

Simply incredible. Raw and brutalism architecture inside. Modernity outside. And very strong and efficient sound system.

Extraordinary music venue with a great view. Went to two gigs, both were great. You can dine on-site before the concert and also get drinks during and after the concert. Very good sound system. Great experience overall

Bimhuis in Amsterdam, is renowned for its remarkable architecture. The building was designed by Danish firm 3XN, known for their innovative and modern architectural designs. The venue's cantilevered concert hall, combined with expansive glass facades, creates a dynamic and modern structure that offers captivating views of the waterfront and sunset. Inside, the space is thoughtfully designed allowing an intimate atmosphere while showcasing the surrounding waters, making the cafe and bar over there an excellent place to relax and unwind over drinks.

Yelp
Outstanding intimate live music venue with great acoustics and amazing seats. Website is tricky to navigate from USA- it would switch to Dutch and was confusing. Seats reasonable cost. Best seats are front row center which have most leg room, or the last ones with the cushy benches towards the back, or the tables on high. Seats are all stadium so views are all generally good. Don't get the front row on the sides as the viewing is limited / stick with the central area for best views. You can bring the food and drinks inside the seating area. Free coatcheck you just hang up your own stuff. Also bathrooms there. Elevator is the small one on the left that takes you to the top if you don't want the stairs. Get there early or don't be surprised that someone will be in your seat. Concerts start exactly on time. People are already seated before concert starts. It's very tight spaces so hard to get to your seat if everyone else already seated. If you are late, they will let you in, but be prepared to be in the standing area. 10 minute walk to Central Train Station or you can take a bus. Cab ride from central area is @ 30-35 euros each way. Highly recommended! We saw two concerts and loved both.

Yelp
We visited their Tuesday night open-mic twice, and it was wonderful---great views, friendly staff, and affordable drinks. A highlight of our trip.

Yelp
This is a must stop for jazz music lovers. I attended on Tuesday night at 8pm for the improv workshop for musicians and vocalists. At 10pm, a jazz set and open mic pulls in a big crowd. Cafe/bar with drinks and snacks. Right off the tram line. Free admission. Great music! Engaged crowd.

Yelp
The Bimhuis is one of the best jazz clubs in the world! It's now housed in the new music building by the eastern pier ( trams 25 & 26 will get you there) They have great programs including a couple of jam sessions a week and a music/dance/improv collaboration on mondays that's intriguing. The agenda includes most of the top jazz musicians in the world as well as many Dutch groups and combinations of both. Behind the stage is a wall of glass which looks out across the train tracks and harbor onto the city Amsterdam. It's amazing. Sometimes the curtains are closed for the performance and other times you can see the city and the comings and goings of trains. For me though, the Bimhuis is all about the music and the view enhances it. Also notable is the bar. It is next to the concert hall and the doors close when the music starts. You can still enter and exit but there is no staff hustling drinks during the concert and no loud bar chatter to distract you from the concert though there is always the inevitable dropped glass or knocked over bottle. There are so many fantastic concerts throughout the year that a years subscription is offered.

Yelp
Bimhuis is awesome. It's a fairly small venue dedicated to jazz, located at a 10 minute walk from central station. The acoustics of the place is very good and you sit very close to the performers. Here's a tip: check out the last-minute ticket shop at aub (Leidseplein) for tickets. From 15:00 onwards they sell tickets for arts & entertainment stuff that happen the same day, with a 50% discount.

Yelp
Couldn't get anyone on the phone called and finally went to find out a band was $16 and it was sold out. Nice venue but will not do it that way again.
