Bimmah Sinkhole, also known as Hawiyat Najm Park, is one of Oman’s most stunning natural attractions and an absolute must-visit for anyone exploring the country. Located conveniently between Muscat and Sur, this breathtaking geological wonder feels like a hidden oasis amid the rugged Omani landscape. The sinkhole is a large limestone crater filled with striking turquoise-blue water that immediately captures attention. The contrast between the white rocky edges and the crystal-clear water creates a postcard-perfect view. Well-maintained stairways lead visitors safely down to the water, making access easy and enjoyable. Once inside, the calm, cool water offers a refreshing escape from Oman’s heat, perfect for a relaxing swim or simply soaking your feet. What makes Bimmah Sinkhole particularly special is its peaceful atmosphere. Despite being popular with tourists, it still feels serene, especially during early mornings or weekdays. Families, solo travelers, and photographers alike will find something to enjoy here—whether it’s swimming, relaxing, or capturing stunning landscape shots. The surrounding park area is clean and thoughtfully developed, with seating spaces, shaded areas, and basic facilities that make the visit comfortable. The natural setting encourages visitors to slow down and truly appreciate Oman’s geological beauty and untouched charm. Bimmah Sinkhole is not just about sightseeing; it’s about experiencing nature up close. The gentle mineral-rich water, natural rock formations, and open sky above make it a unique and calming experience. Whether you spend 30 minutes or a couple of hours, the visit leaves a lasting impression. Overall, Bimmah Sinkhole is a perfect blend of natural beauty, accessibility, and tranquility. It is ideal for a short stopover or a relaxed half-day trip and stands out as one of Oman’s most memorable natural landmarks.

we visited the Hawiyat Najm Sinkhole, and it turned out to be an amazing experience for the whole family. The sinkhole itself is absolutely stunning — the crystal-clear blue water looks beautiful, and the entire area is well-maintained and clean. It’s a perfect place for swimming, relaxing, and enjoying nature. If you are visiting with children, I would highly recommend making them wear life jackets because the water can be quite deep in some areas. With proper safety precautions, everyone can enjoy a fun and safe time in the water. Outside the sinkhole, there is a huge park that makes the visit even better. The park is spacious, peaceful, and ideal for planning a picnic or even a small barbecue with family and friends. There are plenty of shaded sitting areas where you can relax, and children have enough space to run around and play freely. The entire place feels very family-friendly. One of the best things about this location is its cleanliness. Toilets are available and kept neat, which is a big plus when visiting with family. The parking area is also easily accessible and well-organised, making the whole visit smooth and comfortable. For swimming lovers and anyone looking for a calm, refreshing escape, this sinkhole is one of the best places to visit. The combination of beautiful water, clean surroundings, and a spacious park makes it a perfect spot for both adventure and relaxation. Highly recommended! 🌿💦✨

Absolutely stunning spot! The Bimmah Sinkhole is a natural wonder — crystal-clear turquoise water surrounded by rugged rock formations. The place is clean, well-maintained, and easy to access thanks to the staircase that leads right down to the water. Perfect for a quick swim or just to relax and enjoy the view. There are shaded areas, picnic spots, and restrooms nearby, which make it great for families too. Try to visit early morning or late afternoon when it’s cooler and less crowded. Definitely one of the must-see attractions along the Muscat–Sur coastal route!

A truly one-of-a-kind natural attraction. The sinkhole is a steep, naturally formed pool with stunning blue-green water, and you can climb down the stairs to spend some time near or in the water. It was quite crowded when I visited. There are also walkways, seating areas, and toilet facilities, making it comfortable to spend some time here. Overall, it’s a one-time must-visit spot — a unique pool deep within the earth, surrounded by nature.

The Bimmah Sinkhole, also known as Hawiyat Najm Park, is a large, natural limestone sinkhole in Oman filled with a clear turquoise water pool accessible by stair. The water is a mix of freshwater from mountains and saltwater from the sea, making it a bit salty. Local legend attributes its creation to a meteorite impact. It is about a 1.5-hour drive from Muscat. Visitors can swim in the refreshing water, and capture moments. There are no lifeguards and you swim at your own risk. For changing swimwear, there are Hawiyat Najm Park bathrooms just to the left inside the entrance. If you are willing to swim there, carry water, snacks, towel, sunscreen and water shoes etc. In the park there are Gazebos, swings and picnic benches for all ages. The park and sinkhole are free to visit. Opening hours are from 8 am to 8 pm daily. Oman's most unique swimming holes make it a must-see !!!

No tickets, absolutely free entry. Long scenic drive from muscat. On the way is Qurayat, beautiful village by the shore. 😉 Very smart arrangements of the Embankment Staircase. Each step is higher than standard size.. it seems they did it on purpose to make it physically demanding. It could be just a 30 mins stroll or longer stay for a swim. Which is restricted but no one's there to monitor. 4 starts just for the stairs.

Steeped in local legend, the Bimmah Sinkhole is said to have been created by the impact of a falling star, inspiring its Arabic name Hawiyat Najm, meaning “the deep well of the falling star.” While science explains its formation as the result of underground limestone erosion and surface collapse, the story adds to the site’s enduring charm. Nestled within the beautifully landscaped Hawiyat Najm Park, this striking, turquoise-water sinkhole is around 20 metres deep and measures approximately 50 by 70 metres. Located just 130 kilometres from Muscat, it is a popular stop for visitors seeking a refreshing swim and a glimpse of one of Oman’s most fascinating natural wonders.

This sinkhole is absolutely beautiful and so unique (Free Entry). It’s nestled in the middle of a park that’s not quite in its prime. A set of stairs takes you down to the bottom, where you can take a dip if you’re feeling adventurous. We were already full from our Wadi Shab experience, so we just relaxed and watched some people climb up the cliff ends to do a free dive.
