On the Grid : Binders Art

"With a beautifully rustic interior wood floor reclaimed directly from Ponce City Market's building, Binders has any and every type of art supply of which you could possibly dream. Filled with aisles upon aisles of paints, frames, canvases, sketchpads, and about a billion other things, this new art supply store marks the creative supply heartbeat of the neighborhood. It has wonderfully pleasant employees and must pride itself on the sheer breadth of its inventory. If you're a designer, or artist, or creative of any kind, make sure to build in some extra time in your schedule when you walk through these doors." - Steven Johnson Studio

Google
Best place to buy art supplies in Atlanta ( both locations) and online! I drive from Clayton County in Atlanta traffic just to shop at Binders. They have a huge selection of art materials, knowledgeable staff and outstanding prices. I love this place!

I have been a professional artist and I manage an art store in Metro Atlanta. The binders at Ponce City market is one of the smaller stores, and it did not have the artist material I was looking for. The store is located outside of the market along one of the walkway areas and is less prominent than some of the other binders. I was peppered with questions unrelated to my shopping needs, as has been the case in many retail environments in Atlanta. I don't know if the store is involved in a consulting network or if it is directly connected with a monitoring or security system managed by the Atlanta Police Department. The staff were involved in a conversation upon my entry, and did not get up or inquire about my visit or the materials I was looking for. Unfortunately, I did not find my shopping experience to be enjoyable. I have been to this Binders before and purchased paper and pastels (these were stolen from me at a local hotel and had to be replaced twice - law enforcement claimed I was donating the supplies - buyer beware). There is ample parking and the entire complex is designed for browsing and foodies. Binders does not present the level of excitement or involvement, but it is adequate for basic art needs. I believe the prices are fair but it is worth looking at Amazon and other online retailers for price comparisons.

Google
Not a big spread, but as usual good stuff. Loved the art wall.

Google
Absolutely wonderful place! I accompanied a friend here who is more into the arts than I am. We both agreed that the prices here are fantastic and it’s a cute little place to look around! I highly recommend coming here. The employees are super nice and friendly!

Google
Great art supplies. Amazing staff. When they didn’t have stuff I was looking for, they recommended other spots nearby. Pro tip: Join their rewards program; you save a decent amount.

Small art supply store with a limited selections of items

Google
This place is awesome. The store itself is bight and airy, so it was easy to linger for some time and check out all the stuff. You'll want to buy something even if you can't draw or paint. And if you can, it's like a fun house. Their pricing didn't seem ridiculously high either. Staff were friendly, laid back, kind of hands off but attentive when needed. Great place.

Yelp
YOU ARE INK- CREDIBLE! Really cool art store. They have just about everything under the sun. Staff is very sweet and let you wander around without harassing you.

Yelp
As a stationery lover, I wanted to check out all the places in Atlanta that sold anything related to stationery while visiting. I knew going in there might not be a lot of things for me, but they had a decent amount of pens and markers. I picked up a set of markers and my boyfriend scored some foam board - so it was a win for us! Also, the lady that checked us out saved us $9 by joining their loyalty program!

Yelp
They do not have a wide selection especially with other art stores so close and to top it off VERY rude staff. I will never come back. Only came because my art supplies store of choice was closed. Two staff at the front were useless aside from accepting payment. Asked for help finding something, blank stare from the employees. Asked for parking validation, which they have a sign in the front saying they offer to anyone who spends over $20, they said no we don't do validation. Asked for student discount to be applied to my purchase, and again, blank stare from employees. Over paid and had horrible service.

Yelp
The staff at the Ponce City Market Binders location is terrible. They are very unhelpful and rude every time I have come to pick up art supplies. The man at the front counter ignored me when I asked for a price check and continued to do so for 10 minutes. When he finally walked over to SCAN the item, he forcibly took it from my hands and slammed it on the counter after scanning. Even when I approached the counter to checkout, he used the same force and made me feel VERY unwelcome. I typically have the same experiences with this Binders' staff. I work in Ponce City Market and even when having a bad day or a less than kind customer, I will always represent my store in a positive and helpful light. The art store is supposed to be a happy and safe place for creatives to learn about new products and this staff does not evoke that. I will not return to this staff. Please hire different people. I will go to Blick instead.

Yelp
Staff was very rude. Joke of a 'manager' running this place too. I was coming here for years until the management switched over not too long ago. The last few times I've been in were all nightmares. I was first deterred because they stopped carrying random items and very specific paints I would often have to purchase. I started to going to Blick which is night and day compared to this place! At Blick, they actually help you and know what they're talking about. There was only one helpful staff member at Binders who was actually friendly AND helpful, but she seems to have moved on. Recently when I went in I was attempting to return a damaged product, but there was no one at the front. It appeared that no one was even working there until the manager (who i presumed didn't work there because she was wearing booty shorts) came up from the back and seemed annoyed that I needed help. I felt like such a nuisance to her, that I didn't want to come back. She was very unfriendly and I think she was also on FaceTime or something.

Yelp
Came in here for last minute framing work and the guys at Binders were a DREAM to work with! I didn't have time to get custom framework done so Bob recommended a floating frame. I asked if he could help me set it up(mainly because I knew I would mess it up). Not only did he agree but he and his coworker spent 45 minutes getting everything perfect. I couldn't ask for better customer service. If I ever need framing or any kind of art related supples, I will come back to Binders solely because of my experience today.

Yelp
Another great place to find all your artistic essentials. I typically frequent the Buckhead location, but if parking wasn't an issue, I wouldn't mind coming to this one. I'm unsure if it's paid to park anymore since I haven't been back after they instated the parking fee at PCM which I thought effected the lot as much as the garage-- I'll have to actually return and check that little detail out.. As far as the store itself goes! It's organized but felt much more condensed than the Buckhead location. It still has a great selection though, and is another nice art store addition to the Atlanta area. They have a nice selection of ornamental papers for event planners to pens and paint galore for the artist or artist in your life. I usually stop in to tempt myself with nice sketchbooks and canvases which they sometimes have deals on. Occasionally, they also have a local artist on site to do demos or do paid classes. The staff is dry. I occasionally found the Buckhead staff dry, but they're not so bad. The PCM group, probably not bad either, but not openly friendly and welcoming at first. While I might not make this store my first choice unless I'm at PCM, it's certainly not a bad shop, and a great option for art supplies.

Yelp
This binders is the only art supply store near me that sells the paper I like, which is, unfortunately, why I have to consistently return to this location. They have a decent amount of supplies, but many of the employees that work here are rude and unhelpful. Short when answering questions, don't offer help even when they see you are looking for things, and often times when you ask where you can find an item the answer is "somewhere else". Looks like somewhere else is where I need to start going. Binders should check it's rude employees. It's hard to continue to support this businesses.

Yelp
I can't understand why this place is even open since THEIR SHELVES ARE ALWAYS EMPTY!!!!! This will be my LAST time visiting this store. We get 'back to school' but it's been 6 weeks!!! You have a freaking supply chain issue. You're a retailer! It's your job! I haven't had the same issues with other stores locally to this extent. Even, closer to SCAD. I WILL NOW TAKE ALL MY BUSINESS ONLINE TO DEPENDABLE RETAILERS. SHEESH!!! Worthless!

Yelp
I love this store on Ponce more than disappointing Buckhead location. This store has the best layout! When I enter into this store, and there are interesting items, especially the newest items presented in an organized and attractive way. It makes it more functional which I can buy necessary project items in one spot! The rest of the store are so enjoyable to shop around! I only can wish the they can keep items on stock and also provide hard to find items, rare items, and whatnot. I loved their layout. It seems like Ponce store outshined Buckhead store. The biggest problem about Ponce store is parking. That makes it harder to shop with the parking meter is ticking. I will definitely go there. One suggestion is to make people to come back more often is to make sure your clearance section stocked with interesting items more often! I love good deals!

Yelp
If I could give this Binders location a zero star rating - that would be generous. Went in to get two prints framed for my gallery wall (as I have done previously with the former framer) was told that this location could not do it and that they would have to send my pieces to Buckhead. Which I understood and was fine with. The dialogue between the framer and I continued and I just wanted to confirm that yes THEY (meaning Binders) could still frame/add a wire to my art. He smuggly kept telling me HE & this location could not... which I understood. He continued to talk down to me and explain things about past employees that was irrelevant to the situation and adding further confusion. The other employee up front joined in and they continued to belittle me and laugh me out of the store. I left frustrated and upset over a simple errand that could have taken five minutes and been over with... and now no longer want to give binders my business.

Yelp
I love binders and was super excited when they opened this one because of location. However, I can never find parking here especially on the weekend. I have even driven around the spots in front of the store for 30 minutes at a time (once in desperate need of some large paper) thinking that at least one spot would open up since it is only 30 minute parking. I ended up driving home though because I never managed to get a spot. I still just drive to other art stores across town because parking is so inconvenient at this location. So sad. But if you ever do manage to snag a parking spot the inside of the store is really nice. Parking is just everything for the type of art supplies I buy and I don't think paying a parking fee is worth it.

Yelp
I've never been to the other location, but while we were having a nice walk from Dancing Goats, I stumbled across this art store and it is big. The two black guys that were working at the cash register didn't even welcome us and were having their own conversation, but there were others that were walking around that helped me and were extremely kind and patient. I'm sure when Ponce City Market finally opens, this place'll be crowded.

Yelp
I came here when the Buckhead location was out of something I needed. (Although the Buckhead location definitely has more supplies) It's a great addition to Ponce City Market; it's not located inside the main building, but next to Dancing Goats...ample parking. They do not offer classes/workshops or custom framing at this particular location though. Customer service was very helpful and courteous. Since they just opened, there wasn't a clearance section, but they run great sales, student discounts, and rewards programs.

Yelp
I experienced AMAZING customer service here. I was on the hunt for 2 very specific items I was unable to locate & Kyle, the employee I spoke with, went to check on them, came back with them & placed on hold at the front desk for me to pick up when I arrived. He and the rest of the staff as well we're all incredibly patient & helpful. Especially being a new & inexperienced customer. Kyle even gave me the low down on the parking situation w/ patience when I asked about how it was with much patience. Upon arrival I went straight to the front desk after browsing just a minute or 2 of a very clean & very organized store. The employee at desk, who wasn't Kyle, knew who I was and what I was after, after I mentioned I had a couple items on hold. I talked with several other employees there the desk as well & all were very friendly. I honestly wish I had had more time avaible to browse & chat more but alas. Great store, great customer service & worth a little extra driving. Incredibly satisfied customer.

Yelp
Wonderful store with great employees, a fantastic location and lots of variety in their art supplies. I'm a professional artist so I'm in there almost every week, and I have yet to meet an employee who isn't friendly and helpful. I've even had my dog with me a few times (he's small and well-behaved) and they let him come in on his leash and shop with me, and gave him attention which he loved! So glad they opened, they have Sam Flax beat for supply options and Blick beat for location.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. I have had a lot of success at Binders in Buckhead so decided to try this location since I live on O4W. I needed to buy additional pages for my portfolio case. Because it was my first visit and I wasn't sure of the layout of the store, I walked straight to the counter to ask the associate to direct me. For the next few minutes he proceeded to argue my terminology and tell me that want I was describing doesn't exist. He told me that what I was asking for was not called a portfolio (I described it as a leather bound case to carry art in) he said that I must have meant a ring binder, I said no that it had teeth to hold the pages in and that it does exist because I have one. At that point, he asked me what size pages I needed and reluctantly led me to the refills for the portfolio cases. He then showed me exactly 2, yes only 2 single packs that were in stock- neither of which was the size I needed. I will not return despite living so close.

Yelp
Love this place. The people are very friendly and they have tons of awesome stuff. My only issue is the limited supply of Copics. The atmosphere and location really enhance the vibe.

Yelp
Great new store. They are still figuring out the layout of product, I think, but excellent and very helpful staff. Rodney, the manager, is very friendly and knowledgeable about product. I love the decor as well. Will definitely return.

Yelp
Lovely store and excellent location- but limited in selection. No one there to cut matting or foamcore on a regular basis, only certain times of the day. Seems that they would train all of the staff on how to do this. No custom framing and no classes. OK for small items that you need, but probably best to go to midtown Sam flax if you have more specific needs.
