Where to Eat, Stay, and Play in Hanoi, the Urban Gem of Northern Vietnam | Condé Nast Traveler

"Hidden just behind the Opera House, this smoky, sax-filled fixture—founded by legendary Vietnamese saxophonist Quyen Van Minh—is one of the oldest jazz clubs in Southeast Asia, hosting live performances most nights until late." - Scott Campbell

Very nice live jazz music. Cocktails were good. you get into the club and it takes to a different place maybe related to old days in history of Vietnam

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Binh Minh Jazz Club! Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by friendly staff who kindly carved out a spot for us even though we arrived a bit late for the live jazz set. The musicians were incredibly talented, bringing us on a captivating journey through both classic standards and more niche tunes. The drinks were delightful, though slightly pricier than nearby bars. However, the cost was more than justified by the outstanding experience and the remarkable performances by the musicians, including the legendary Mr. Quyền Văn Minh himself. Would highly recommend this extraordinary experience during your trip to Hanoi!

Very nice friendly low-key jazz club. Great atmosphere good music. I did not have anything to eat there. And I had to actually get up out of my chair and tap the waiter on the shoulder to get a drink while he was looking at his phone. But I had a great time there. In fairness to the staff, it was Saturday night and the place was packed and I got there late.

Great atmosphere for Jazz’s lovers. Live music every night from 9 pm to 23 pm. Drinks are just so so.

I think anyone must spend an evening here when in Hanoi. The hospitality and artists are impeccable. I got to watch and listen to Dattie Do and her pianist and double bassist – I didn’t manage to catch the latter names but they were delightful. An utterly memorable experience. P.s. I didn’t order any food and stayed with a red all night. Here’s a poem I composed that night. It’s called “Glass of Wine”. Glass of Wine Oh. This is the part When I realise That jazz is like breathing And inhales last just a moment You can only keep going And going To the end Of the page or wherever it is that the notes go When they flutter and reach the ceiling Like bird wings ‘gainst a cage And those sounds turn to thoughts Of lovers long gone and passed I shouldn’t have started If I meant to think of tomorrow But at the Binh Minh Jazz Club The wine takes me higher To you

Have been visiting Binh Minh on a semi-regular basis for 5 years now and its genuinly sad to see how the place has went down hill. Once upon a time it was the happening place in town. Had an edge, a vibe, a joie de vevre that was hard to quantity. Sadly, it has lost its charm in the pursuit of squeezing every bean from its clientele. The execessice surcharge the inflated prices and the overall decreased experience has led to this one time hot spot being a mere shadow of its former self.

Thoroughly enjoyed soaking in the smooth jazz melodies this weekend evening. The vibe was perfectly relaxed, and the cozy atmosphere made it a truly immersive experience

Price went up. Everything else went down: quality, music, the place itself, atmosphere, the funny increased “surcharge” which we’re still unsure of what it’s actually for, while the menu price is already increased. It used to be our go to place for 8-9 years and now we’re seriously disappointed with the way the owner just try to rip customers off as much as they could. Not worth it. There are plenty of other options in Hanoi.
