Bird Bar & Grill

We didn't get food this time but the menu options were good. A lot of variety. I did see the pizza sub. It looked delicious. The sub bun was different from others sub buns but in good way. Portion sizes was great. Very good drinks. Great service. Clean and comfortable atmosphere.

Not friendly wait staff rude wait staff wouldnt even properly check for my debit card when I went there for a burger and fries and this is the last place my debit card was used. Waiters will walk away mid sentence to go away from doing their requirement which is to serve Had one beer and the wait staff expected a tip for doing nothing didn't ask me if I wanted another one didn't even pick up the plate. The place is a complete mess OSHA needs to follow up with a review.

We came here for dinner with a large group and it was great! The kids were able to play pool and other games while waiting for our food. Lots of different yummy options for dinner! The subs weren't a traditional sub. They were baked in a braided dough. SO DELICIOUS 😋!!!! Lots of options for kids too -hot dogs, pizza, and chicken tenders!

Excellent Burgers, fast food and good service. Appetizers are well worth trying. $5 for 3 games of pool on a nice billiard table with plenty of room and seating.

The Bird is my favorite bar in Mount Pleasant! I went last Thursday and had a great experience. One of the servers was attentive, constantly checking on tables, and the bar service was quick. Every time I visit, I have a great time. The Bird never disappoints!

TUNA! What a great bar in mount pleasant. Thursdays are like no other unless I'm here, home. Upstanding service and delicious drinks. The bird is the word. Don't even get me started on the dollar banana shots or fizzy lifters. Marko is a real g. Tuna always knows what's up. I will sure miss this place after I graduate. Caw caw 🫶🏻

The Bird always delivers an amazing pizza but today's was exceptional! We ordered ham, pepperoni,sausage,bacon, mushrooms, onions and jalapeno and it was loaded! The crust was crispy and delicious! If you haven't treated yourself to one of their delicious offerings you definitely should! You won't be disappointed!

We made our way to Mt Pleasant for a concert (Foreigner, Loverboy). Yelp helped us find the Bird. The four of us had cheeseburgers with varying accoutrements. We all enjoyed them, all commenting on what seemed like special buns! I also had the jalapeño poppers - I'd get them again. The vibe is one you would expect from a college town - vibrant. Staff was short handed but made it all work - friendly and attentive. Drinks were as expected. What was unexpected was the bill.....GREAT VALUE for what they charge. We will be heading back when we find ourselves in mid-Michigan.

Loud and roudy with pool tables and darts towards the back. It looks like an awesome place for regular customers. As a visitor, though, I thought the food was horribly over cooked and the service sucked. The Bird has such great reviews on Yelp but it doesn't reflect the perspective of the outsider very well. When we walked in, I asked if we could sit anywhere to which a young man behind the bar enthusiastically repeated, "anywhere!" Well, this person was also our server and he didn't seem to have assigned tables because he was bouncing all over the large restaurant including pouring alcohol for his tables. The cook brought out our appetizers and entrees. A young woman came by three time to ask if she could clear our table or get us water. I became aggravated and got up to flag down our guy in the purple t-shirt. He brought the check over and immediately left. I recommended that visitors find another place to get some grub which in the CMU area.

Great service: friendly and fast Loved their deluxe pizza and fried pickles. So good I am craving it 4 hours later.

Burger was good so were the fries. Need to go back for the cheese bread. Place has been a staple for downtown and CMU for years. Many a student does the Mt P Pub Crawl

Food was fire!! Nice & clean bar atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly. I did not expect to find this amazing Ruben sandwich, the best I've ever had!!

Bigger on the inside. Lots of nooks and crannies. Enjoyed playing trivia on "Tap TV". Moon bread was good and cheesy.

Excellent food from a hometown family owned bar!!! Bar has been in the community for 90 years!! I highly recommend everything on the menu. Pizza dough and cheese blend is made in house! Burgers are 1/4 on a bakery bun! The BIRD is the WORD!

The food was awesome the service was very mediocre at best. The biggest part was the fact that they're short handed but the owner was sitting there hanging out , she had to go in and help in the kitchen , I waited over 25 minutes standing at bar while barmaid walked past me 6 times waiting on others that came up to order after I came up to pay my bill. This place would be cool if they could fully staff their bar but I feel for them this is only reason I give it a 3* ... We had corn beef subs which were good and the fries were really good , fried mushrooms were tasty . I like the drinks served in mason jars always a cool vibe at a bar

My Mom & I were heading out of town and wanted to have a little lunch. Looked on Yelp, read about this place and had to try it. This is definitely a hidden gem. We had awesome & friendly service upon walking in. The server Laura was very helpful in guiding us with the menu. We shared the vegetable stuffed & baked sandwich which was amazing and an awesome burger. The bartender Brady was very friendly as well as giving us the story on the establishment dating back 90 years. He was an Absoulutly awesome bartender. I would recommend this bar & grill when visiting Mount Pleasant. Great location right on Main Street.

This is the best bar in the world. Only bar in mount pleasant worth going to. Drinks are great, food is great, staff is great. Love it.

Nothing compares to The Bird. Whether you're looking for a daytime beer and a bite of pizza (house made dough ) or a late night party, this place knows how to make you feel welcome, and safe.

This was our second time visiting in a couple of months and while the food it really good, the wait staff is sub par. we waited an hour and a half the first time for our food (they were understaffed it seemed so no fault there I guess). but this last time was bananas. we were there OVER THREE hours waiting on our food. it wasn't a full house. our friends pizza got handed off to another party so they had to wait even longer. Our waitress was going to "be back in a couple minutes" but it took her 45 mins to come and take our order. Overall, it was a big mess and we won't be back.

My wife and I stopped there yesterday 9/1/22. We ordered the Nacho Grande it was $16.00. Turns out it was just okay, just had lettuce, 1/4 cup of beef burger, canned nacho cheese and very few tomatoes on tortilla chips. We didn't see any onions or black olives in the toppings. We were given a small cup of sour cream and salsa on the side. The place is okay, but I wouldn't say The Bird Bar & Grill is living up to the many favorable reviews. I don't really like to complain, but the food is just okay not great by any measure.

Stopped in after 1:00 for lunch . Light crowd, we seated ourselves and waited for service. 20 minutes later a waitress finally came to our booth and took our drink order. 15 minutes later we got our beverages and she took our order. 15 minutes later we got our burgers. My order was messed up so I sent it back for correction 15 minutes later I finally got my food. By this time we were the only people left in the place. several couples who came in right after us got up and left with out ordering due to the poor service. My burger was so slathered up in condiments I couldn't pick it up and only ate half of it. when the bill finally came it was wrong under charging us.

Delicious. They all worked as a team to provide best service. Nachos and vegetarian sub did not disappoint. Would recommend.

My favorite bar in town! Just recently tried their Swiss Mushroom Onion burger, it was delicious! Always love coming here when we are in town.

Food is great, love them bird burgers. Service, they do there best most of the time. Will be a good time. Ambiance, like the decor is nice. Feels like your in the right spot. There's the AMI entertainment, so I guess music wise can be anywhere. Hope you enjoy it either way as much as I do.

If you want to avoid the student crowd go before 7pm and avoid Thursday-Saturday. Great pizza and traditional bar food. It's a casual bar setting.

Great bar on campus especially if you're not trying to stand up or dance all night. They have great cocktails and amazing season beers on tap. If you ever visit my pleasant you should add the bird to your bar crawl list.

Delightful!! Way above expectations. Came with 7 of us and truly enjoyed it. Food was good, service was excellent and ambience was fun. An unexpected experience and will recommend it and hopefully get back here again. Nancy H. Traverse City

Went to this little hole in the wall on Main St for an early dinner. So glad we did. Very cozy bar atmosphere. Nice booths with old scratched up wood tables. Wasn't expecting too much beyond basic bar food. I was wrong. I ordered a hot sub. It was more like a calzone. Sooo delicious, fresh and homemade. My friends ordered bacon cheeseburgers. Said they were amazing. The bacon was one big round piece of it. Cooked perfectly medium. Shoestring fries were great! Beer prices were reasonable. Expertly poured Oberon on tap. We'll definitely be back.

Two words: Pizza. Sub. Huge portion... almost ginormous calzoneish. Got mine with sausage, pepperoni, bacon, black olives and an added mixture of cheddar in their house cheese blend. Holy cow... it defeated me! An added bonus... the chef in back personally came out and asked how I liked it. Why? Because my server/bartender told him it was my first time here. That's some amazing service... that won't be forgotten any time soon. Only one deficiency... a bartender with a man bun thought he was "cool" and decided to interject himself into a conversation about if a TV channel could be turned (just move three feet over and you'll see it). Bro, no one was talking to you. You damn near ruined my experience by that one interjection. Overall... I'm coming back here again. A dive bar vibe with great food and overall great service!

Can't beat their prices and the burgers were great. They got a good selection of beer too.

I came here with dad since we were in the area, the food was really good and fresh. The server went over and above his job, very tentative and kept checking on us making sure we are taking of.

This is my first time at The Bird and the atmosphere is great! Fun college bar and good music...oh and it smells like amazing fried food. The service is not comparable to other late night busy college bars. The waiters/waitresses are constantly clearing the tables and taking drink orders at the table so there are almost no lines at the bar! I will be back for another $2 double Thursday!!

A really solid dive bar. A wide range of clientele- you have college students right alongside townies and probably professors. They have a large food menu, and a full bar. Prices are reasonable. We ordered the moon bread after reading so many rave reviews here. It was fine, but way too herby for my taste. Order it with the garlic butter dipping sauce though!! That was what stole the show for me. Ordinarily I will dip anything and everything in ranch, so the fact that I actually tried both here and preferred the garlic butter is nothing short of astonishing.

Super fun atmosphere and DELICIOUS "subs" which are more like a calzone with house made pizza dough and sauce. My sister and I split one and it was more than enough for a meal. My husband had a burger which he really enjoyed as well and the fries were crispy and hot!!! We sat at the bar and the bartender, Adam, was very engaging and friendly. We made good conversation with him and he gave us a few tips about soaring eagle casino (we were headed there after dinner for a concert.) plenty of beers on tap including an amazing hard seltzer from Perrin brewing company and really reasonable prices. Would be fun to visit again on a weekend as I'm sure the place attracts a fun crowd! Will definitely return next time I'm in Mount Pleasant!

I'm from Seattle, but I went here tonight after moving my freshman daughter into her dorm at CMU (see my review of the Courtyard by Mariott.). This was the most fun I've had at a bar in years! The pizza (meat lovers, or whatever it was called) was EPIC! The beer selection was fantastic (we can't get Bell's Two-Hearted in Washington!), and all of the servers and bartenders were fantastic. I really enjoyed taking to Ben, and Ashlyn. I had planned to check out other places in town, but everyone was so nice (staff, patrons next to me) that I just stayed here all night. I guarantee that if you go here you will not be disappointed.

Great drinks. Has a nice early evening atmosphere before the nighttime bar crowd shows up.

Wow. Top 5 for pizza ever. Service was fantastic. The pizza crust and sauce our to die for. Can't say enough good about our bartender/server/hostess Pam! Coming back.

The Bird is my go to bar! The best drinks and obviously the best shots! My favorite thing about the bar though, is the fact that I feel safe all the time. I can go here and the workers and bartenders are always on the look out to keep the customers safe.

Best burger I've had in years! It is even better than Miller's Bar burger in Dearborn. Great service too! Loved the choices of Michigan beers and they had Busch light for my husband

First, this is a college bar, not a restaurant. They do have a food menu, but the primary item sold and ingested here is beer. Pitchers of Bud Light. The food is OK, but don't go out of your way for it. Use it for soaking up the alcohol in your gut before you leave. That said, the staff was friendly, the booths are clean, and they have some good beers (Oberon) on tap.

Omggggg. Moon bread BBQ chicken pizza Beeer Literally so yummy and at such a low cost!! Great specials, amazing service!! Love it!

Great college town bar. Took our daughter and her friend to lunch around 1 pm on a Saturday. Very prompt service. Waitress was very friendly and fast. I had an olive burger, delicious. My wife and daughter loved their burgers also. One had a regular cheeseburger, the other had a bacon burger. Fries were good. We also had the moon bread as an appetizer. That was out of this world (no pun intended). We will definitely be back again when we are in town.

Solid 4, would be a 5 if their ranch was on point. But their ranch is a bit basic. They should take a pointer from cottage inn on their ranch and it's be 5 stars. We had moon bread, no additions. It's a calzone well seasoned as comes with 3 dipping sauces. Also we had mozzarella sticks and chicken tenders. Those were pretty good too.

Total college bar, but still accessible for anyone. I was staying in town for a conference and went to The Bird for dinner on a Friday night. Before 9pm, there were $4 Miller Lite pitchers! Being from Metro Detroit, this was a total steal, lol. It was loud & super divey inside. There were a lot of college kids, but enough mix that we didn't feel out of place. We ate and had the 'hot' pizza. It was spicy and the crust was really tasty. The toppings were generous - lots of sauce, lots of cheese. Not my preference, but not a deal breaker. Pitcher of beer & 12" speciality pizza for $18 plus tip. Can't be beat!

Wow I haven't been to a bar where they check ID at the door or have security at the bathrooms in a long time lol I'm 30 and yet felt so much older because of that. Where has the time gone! Anyways...we parked in a lot across the street which was free so that was cool. This bar is well nothing fancy. Just your basic old school bar. It had graffiti and peanut shells on the floor. Young waitstaff. We had arrived for happy hour and the beer prices were really good. They had pitchers on special too. Their well drinks were not good. I had a vodka and soda and it tasted like straight up soda. Stick to beer if you want to go with their special. My husband ordered a burger that came with ketchup and mustard already on it. Had some slaw too. He said it was amazing. I ordered cheese and pepperoni moon pie because of the reviews. It was just ok. Nothing special. I have had much better. Maybe people in the area aren't familiar with what good pizza taste like. I wouldn't get it again. Sucked that we never got checked on once we got our food. We never were given napkins or silverware. I had randomly asked a good runner for silverware thinking he would also bring us napkins but nope he didn't. So that kinda sucks. I don't like to eat without napkins.

Good service, staff all wore masks, food and drink came fast. Thumbs up to the cheese sticks, cheeseburgers and French fries. Thumbs down to the nachos and side salad. Good local draft beer selection.
