Stopped for a quick bite. Both our meals were good although for the time of day and number of customers, they took a little longer than expected. We were happy with our meals and the overall experience. The place is quite modern with a mix of hi-tables. Service was good. Mother Clucker for me and Katsu Burger for my son.

Just had an incredible brunch at Bird on a Wire at Ponsonby Central! I devoured their mouthwatering BBQ BACON & BUTTERMILK BURGER and the KOREAN CRIED BURGER - both bursting with delicious flavours and perfectly balanced. The BIRD ON A WAFFLE for dessert was an absolute delight, with the sweetness of the ice cream complementing the crispy chicken and waffle just right. And let's not forget the amazing service - the staff was so friendly and helpful, making the whole experience even more enjoyable!

Bird on Wire in Ponsonby is an absolute gem. Their $5 baguette is an incredible value, a meal that is both fresh and flavorful. Their $5.50 mocha, which is perfectly brewed and rich in taste, it's a winning combination. The staff at Bird on Wire are exceptionally friendly and kind, making you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Their quick and efficient service ensures that you’re never waiting long. The highlight, without a doubt, is the scrumptious baguette. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or enjoying a leisurely coffee break, Bird on Wire delivers a consistently delightful experience.

I ordered my Korean Chicken Bowl and then sat down and read the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised with a generous bowl, delicious flavours and crispy chicken. Service was friendly and my bowl was delivered quickly. Would definitely come back. 🙌🏻

Korean chicken with slaw and chips (26) and Sprite (5). Overall food was fine. Chicken inside was a bit dry but the sauce made it. Chips were cooked well. Slaw was amazing. Good portion size for price. The only reason why it’s not 5 stars is because of the sprite. You get it in a glass and I believe is from the tap which makes it taste flat and watered down. Good service though wait time was around 30-40 minutes long on a Thursday lunch.

Expensive and disappointing. The food looked good but the burger was tasteless. After a couple of bites, I figured that the odd taste was coming from the kimchi. I love kimchi but I thought the kimchi was not used properly in this dish. Chicken was really bland and had no crunch to it. I was looking for the gochujang taste but just couldn't taste it. The chips were good though. Properly seasoned. The rhubarb for the cheesecake was good but the cheesecake itself was average.

The cauliflower dish was great and I’m very happy that the vegan dishes were labeled correctly. Serving size average. Flavour good. Priced $$. They ran out of tofu and vegan buns so I had to change my order but the chef was super nice about it and gave us complementary fries. Can’t complain that it came with mayo on the side though. Overall good experience.

I'd be ashamed of opening a place and serving this Chicken Waffle. Mushy waffle, barely no chicken or bacon. Definitely not worth the $25 paid on that. You'll make a better use of your money (and hunger) by choosing another restaurant of the food court.

The chicken is absolutely incredible! You can't go wrong with any of their choices. I love the Korean BBQ. But you have to try the Japanese Slaw with Ponzu Dressing, it's to die for. Great atmosphere and people watching. Also, as a person from the states who lives on Iced Tea, you can't find it in NZ. However, the good people at Bird on a Wire made me one!

Solid place to grab some grub. Has various kinds of chicken dishes. I had the Korean fried chicken bowl which did not disappoint. Would eat here again.

You have to order the Bird on a Waffle! This is a must at this spot. Everything in this meal was delicious and complimented each other. I would definitely recommend this place for brunch. I also had guava, lime and basil juice which was pretty good and refreshing.

Good Vibes Only reads the t-shirt of the guy making my salad. Going vegetarian this month so eating salad at Bird On Wire which may not be completely representative of the fare at this restaurant. Salad I had made was excellent. The Special Soda awesome. Bangin Birdless Burger was also very very tasty according to my daughter.

Great breakfast place in Ponsonby! I had the motherclucker breakfast and it was amazing. I highly recommend coming here

Free-range rotisserie chooks, fresh, innovative salads, Wild Wheat bread and pottles of organic ice-cream... Seriously, what more could you want! Ponsonby's Chicken shop is revolutionizing the conventional idea of fast food with it's delicious and nutritious offerings (bar the ice-cream). I recently popped into BOAW for lunch and for a bowl of their outstanding winter soup, Spicy Italian Minestrone with zuchinni, green beans and pesto. Chocca block full of veges, it was hearty with just the right amount of chilli. On a recommendation from the staff, I also added pulled chicken. Absolutely brilliant idea - delicious! If I worked in the area, BOAW would be my go to lunch spot for sure.

Finally I made it to 'Bird on a Wire' Flagship store in Ponsonby (after so many recommendations) to experience something truly wholesome and unique! My friend and I had 1/2 chook, two ciabatta buns warmed, Antipodes sparking water and two delicious salads: classic Caesar and an Asian noodle-inspired gastronomy. Apparently they change their salads regularly, refer to their FB page for details. We decided to sit outside with our healthy treats and eat it DIY style, on makeshift plates with wooden cutlery:) The service was sensational! They also offer fresh juices: green (orange, apple, spinach & lemon) or red (beetroot, carrot, apple & ginger) not bad for $6.50! Just yum!

Bird on a Wire is great eatery for a "Quick Bite". This place does amazing rotisserie chicken and its all Free Range, Woohoo! This place is great as its cheap and all relatively healthy - for all you health conscious peeps out there. Great menu choices - either the choice of sandwiches, burgers, chicken feeds or chicken by the 1/4, 1/2 and whole. The Baguette for the Korean Bbq roll was crunchy but had a great softness and chew to it! The filling was so moorish. It has a tarragon mayo which oozes out and for $10 its awesome for value for size and flavour! My friend had the Gravy roll on a gluten free bun. Im not sure how they make it but geez you wouldn't even notice its gluten free if someone had said otherwise. Great option and also full of flavour. If you are not carb loading, try a mix of their amazing salads and you can add the option of chicken. Being the hungry piggy I am, I also took home half a chicken with the Korean bbq sauce just to use for my own chicken wraps. Great healthy food and friendly service. Also if you go enough like I have, join up with their points system for great rewards on their food! I first discovered Bird On A Wire at the Go Green Expo back in April this year. They were one of the most popular stands at the Expo and I can see why! Free range rotisserie chicken, plus wholesome tasty salads and friendly staff. Seems like the whole package to me! I have since been to their new fit out on Ponsonby Road. We got takeaway salads and rotisserie chicken. It was so filling, but I felt wonderful afterwards. I really enjoyed my visit to Bird On A Wire, because of the tasty chicken and the yummy ingredients in the salads. A meal at Bird On A Wire will definitely leave you feeling absolutely guilt-free!

I was caught in the rain and starving one afternoon, so I wandered in and decided to get a bite. Super tasty curry potato salad! I got a bit of chicken on top and it definitely needed the sauce, but overall I enjoyed it. Such a lovely spot to people watch!

Popped into Bird on a wire as a friend had an entertainment book voucher begging to be used. Food was tasty, but not as fresh as it could be, I found the coriander(that I love) to be past its used by date and had to be picked out of the sandwich I had ordered. Also tried the BBQ chicken nibbles, they seamed overlooked with a burnt taste and texture to the batter(?) and the BBQ sauce was overly sweet. Service was quick and friendly, with nobody else in the joint on a Friday night.

Came here at the end of three weeks traveling in New Zealand and was definitely craving some fresh and healthy food. I walked by several roasted chicken places (apparently that is a pretty common thing in NZ) with my heart set on this one. I was pleased with the selection of fresh, unique and tasty looking salads in the display case. The staff who took my order and prepped my food were both friendly and efficient. I only waited about 5 minutes for my takeaway order to be made. I like that they offer different sizes, the option to add on different quantities of chicken to add protein, and that you can mix and match your salads in the one order. I chose three salads from the cases with a little bit of chicken to top. The salads were good and the chicken was very well cooked. One of the salads did taste a bit "off", I couldn't tell if it was burnt or the dressing used but that is the only thing that did not make the experience a 5 star trip. Price is reasonable but not exactly cheap either.

Absolutely love this place! It's so perfect for that 5pm "what to have for dinner" stress when you really can't be bothered heading home to cook something yourself. They have a fantastic spread of delicious salads, as well as burger and roll options. They offer fantastic variety. With roast chickens and pulled rotisserie chicken to add to your salad on offer too, you can't go wrong. The raw beetroot, carrot, spinach and walnut salad with maple vinegarette is a personal favorite, absolutely delicious. Service is friendly and fast, no complaints whatsoever. Quickly, tasty and healthy, the perfect takeaway option!

I absolutely love bird on a wire because of they serve free range chicken and mainly because their food is oh so delicious! I went there to grab a quick bite with my dad before both of us went to work. I ordered the chicken roll and my dad had the 1/4 chicken, a roll and a salad. My roll was absolutely delicious, the lettuce was fresh as anything, it didn't taste soggy or old. My dad thoroughly enjoyed his chicken and each time we meet for lunch this is our go to place. The service is friendly and fast, so you don't have to wait too long for your meal. You can also sit and enjoy your lunch.

It's not often you can find free range takeaway chicken joints, especially ones that do yummy and innovative salads to boot. Drop in for a lunchtime sandwich, or stock up on a whole chicken basted in truffle oil plus sides to feed the family. The beer battered chips are especially good (even if they aren't the healthiest option). The staff are laid-back and friendly, so laid-back in fact that last time we visited and the eftpos machine was down, we weren't charged! Keep an eye out for GrabOne deals and you'll be eating for even less. Definitely a good addition to Ponsonby Road - only a few doors down from KFC but a much healthier alternative.

Delicious free-range chicken!!!! Bird on a Wire offers either portions of, or whole free range chickens, and though I usually get their sandwiches, it would be a perfect dinner option too. Funky artwork covers the walls and the smell of fresh, moist chicken is completely mouth-watering. I highly recommend their beer-battered fries as well. For only $5.50 you get a decent portion of fantastically scrummy, unhealthy chips that will leave you wanting more and ensure your return! On top of the great food, the staff of Bird on a Wire are also extremely friendly and are happy to help you decide on your meal. Next time you're on Ponsonby Road be sure to stop in and revel in the deliciousness that is Bird on a Wire!

This place is outstanding. A Bird fresh of the wire is as good as a cold beer after a long innings at the crease, I s*&t you not. I have worked my way through all the different bastes and while they are all outstanding, the Jerk and Korean BBQ are Epicly delicious. I am a blokey bloke and prefer not to openly admit a particular salad as a reason to go somewhere but you have to try beet-root slaw the pump out is impeccable. Not to mention the fantastic chat of the staff and the funky decor of the establishment. This is my favorite take away joint in Auckland. Highly recommended. A+++

... Now that's some freakin' good chicken. It's obvious the guys at BOAW know what they're doing (although I was slightly perplexed by the Chick-fil-A ad on display? Certainly, CFA's got nothing on them ;)). To be clear, you wouldn't come here for restaurant ambiance (there are a few tables [including some outside], but most people rock up for grab-and-go, takeaway style. I went for the Bahn mi sandwich and was far from disappointed: crusty wild wheat bread, delectably juicy chicken all perfectly complemented by crispy greens and savory dressing. Plus it's free range and local so you really just can't go wrong. They also carry brownies from neighborhood friend Rocket Kitchen (which look divine). I'd like to try one on my next visit. That is, if I can stop stuffing my face with juicy chook for, like, 3 seconds. Oh and bonus points for being open past 6PM (!!!!). You really need to choooooook it out for yourself! (haaa, sorry, I just couldn't help myself!)

I reallllly don't see what all the fuss about this place is. Visited the Ponsonby branch this afternoon (3:20pm) for the first time. Took 10 mins for our order to be taken as a large group of women arrived while we were deciding. We ordered a half rotisserie chook with gravy, 2 salad choices, a vietnamese roll and a piece of their 'Takapuna Fried Chicken'. The salads and roll were very good but the fried chicken tasted very burnt and was drowned in the jalapeño mayo - possibly to try and cover up the burnt bits?? The rotisserie chicken was quite dry, really crusty dry on some parts directly under the skin. Possibly due to sitting under heat lamps since lunch.

A funky new coop for a good old bird. Bird on a Wire has moved its Ponsonby Branch to the industrial enclave of Ponsonby Central on the corner of Ponsonby and Richmond roads. Serving the usual range of rotisserie chicken, chicken sandwiches, burgers, and healthy salads, the new BOW offers a breakfast menu until 11am and a small cabinet full of sweet treats such as raw amazeballs and gingerbread. Shame the breakfast menu doesn't last longer on weekends. But apart from that glitch, the updated digs are definitely something to crow about.

Finally got to try this place for lunch today, I see why it's so popular. Six fresh salads to choose from and plenty of succulent roasted 'pulled' chicken to add to it. I had the Asian slaw with peanut dressing and a kumara salad, all packed into a recyclable noodle box and delivered to an outside table. There are plenty of other choices on the menu besides salad, you can order baguettes, sandwiches, rolls, burgers, even soup. A few sweet options in the cabinet too. Great sidewalk lunch spot in Ponsonby.

Guilt free take-aways right here! I've had all the sandwiches (Korean BBQ being my favourite) and none were disappointing. Each sandwich is fresh and has the most beautiful harmonious flavours (who would have thought you could get that all in a sandwich)! The salads are great too - all very fresh and it seems that they rotate between the different salads as there are always one or two new salads to pick from each time I go there. The roast chicken is wonderfully juicy and tender, and while it may seem on the expensive side, it is definitely worth every penny. My partner was doing an 8 week diet challenge, and lost 10 kgs and 10% body fat. Bird on a Wire was fast, fresh, and diet friendly food that we could get in a pinch, not to mention help him stay on track! The only negative experience we had was when we got a take-away salad and some shedded chicken on top. We were in a hurry and needed to grab something quick. Alas, when we got home, he opens his salad in anticipation to find there was no shredded chicken. He e-mailed them to inform them of what had happened, which they gladly were willing to put a salad and chicken on his membership to make up for it. We went back a week or two later to find no salad and no chicken loaded. This was quite embarrassing, but luckily we showed the staff our email trail and they gladly gave it to us (luckily!). Nevertheless we will still be coming back!

We enjoyed it. Cool location inside Ponsonby market. It was nice atmosphere. Good service. The chicken was very tender. We would go again. :)

I got the half chicken, ponzu salad, and roasted potatoes with gravy. I arrived around 5:30 and was told the potatoes would take about 15 minutes. I am glad I waited for a freshly roasted batch of the yummy potatoes. Everything tasted fabulous and service was great!

Heard so much about this place so had to try it out. The menu was great got a selection of salads, subs, and full on dinner options. When we went to order, we were told there was no chicken left and it was going to be a 45 mins wait. Kind of screwed up the plan with the family. Kind of ironic for a chicken place with no chicken. Another weekend later we were a little luckier this time. I was a little underwhelmed by all the hype about this place. The chicken we got was truffle butter and two side salads. The chicken was a little burnt and overdone. The potato salad was a little raw. Kind of disappointing as we were serving this as a Sunday lunch with friends and family.

Went here today for a quick bite to eat. First off, it took ages for my family and I to be seated considering the woman at the counter wasn't doing anything. We ordered our food and were waiting for over half an hour, only to be told by a staff member that our order had been lost. We went to leave when he hurried up to us and told us they had "found our food"...where did you put it in the first place to lose it? The food was good, I had buttermilk fried chicken and my grandparents shared a baguette with chicken and coleslaw in the middle which apparently was very hard to eat since it was so big. Our drinks still hadn't been given to us, and were asked twice what drinks we had ordered: a coke and an orange & apple juice. I heard some of the staff in the kitchen debating about what drinks we had ordered even after we told them twice. After about a minute, a staff member asked me once more what drink I ordered. I told her a Coke, and she asked "with or without sugar?". I said "with sugar please" to which she replied "we don't do Coke with sugar". Okay then why did you ask? We didn't receive any apologies for the poor customer service, and left in a not so great mood. Wouldn't go here again.

Those after a more healthy alternative to the calorie laden roast dinner will be more than satisfied by the delights offered by the good people at Bird on a Wire. Located on Ponsonby Road, newly nestled in among many other popular Ponsonby eatery institutions, it runs a good trade. The 'Bird' as I fondly refer to it, plays on the format of traditional roast meals by swapping out all the bad stuff for free range chooks that are cooked rotisserie style and basted in a choice of sauces (the salsa verde is amaze). Instead of extras such as roast potatoes there are many delicious salads available for your consumption. On my visit there I tried the carrot, beetroot and walnut mix along with a freshly baked hot bread roll and was more than happy. A little 'birdy', (if you can excuse the bad pun) also told me that the beer battered fries dipped in the harissa mayonnaise are almost a religious experience. The meals are a good size, I had more than enough left over to take some to work with me the next night where the smells emanating from the microwave made all the workmates extremely jealous. The prices are a little more than a usual takeaway, but it is worth it for an up-market really yummy meal. I see celebrities in here all the time, and they can't be wrong!

This place is perfect for when you've already eaten your way through the fast food directory but are desperately short on time. It's healthy, fast, and yum. They deliver, so I often had ordered it when burning the midnight oil at work. If I knew it was going to be a late one, I'd order it at 5.30 and I'd be eating it at 6.00. So helpful when you need it. I love their Vietnamese style salad; laden with coriander and fresh produce it's delicious. Plus, their chicken is free range, yes, free range. You can choose from five different flavours of chicken baste, or natural if you're that way inclined. My fave is definitely Jamaican Jerk. You can even buy a whole chicken, which is great if it's your night to cook!

Beer-battered chips with harissa mayo are incredible!! The first time I taste harissa mayo sauce.

Seriously my new favourite place for lunch. Great friendly staff and a nice central spot for me as I work just down the road from it. I popped in on a very wet day and found myself trying to work out which salad to buy. So many choices, and all of them looked super yummy. I ended up with a chicken salad with kale, peanuts, dates and a nice smooth dark vinegar dressing. I could tell it was a vinegar dressing by the fact the box fell over in the car and went all over my passengers seat. Now I get to smell that vinegar everyday of the week YAY..... not. But if you've never been it's very worth it and very well priced for what you get. Even the small box for $8 is great value. I'm going to be a very loyal customer to this place. Enjoy ;)

These folks are awesome! They are really friendly, helpful, and make great chicken and salads. The salads deserve a special mention as they are so delicious. We got a half chicken and some salads. It all went well together and I'd definitely go again.

To sum this up really easily.. The head of the Australia division of the company I work for specifically requests this for lunch every time he is in town. Nothing else is good enough He is fussy And I imagine incredible wealthy And could possibly eat gold leaf on diamond grain toast if he really wanted to But to be honest I can see why he loves it. The chicken is juicy and amazing. The beetroot salad is light and tangy. The slaw is crunchy and fresh. The french stick we received in our feast pack had literally just been baked (is there anything better than fresh warm bread? No) Also the service received by one of the lads at the Ponsonby store was top notch just to really provide the cherry on the top! Coolest place and I love the touch instore with the compost bins system. Very earth friendly Just be careful of the lunchtime rush at the Ponsonby store.. When I collected our phone order it was like a mosh pit and people were queue jumping all over the show

Bird on the wire is the BEST chicken joint on the strip. If you are after tasty, fresh & healthy salads then this is the perfect spot. Add some free range chicken and you are good to go. A fab spot to pick up dinner if you are having friends over and don't want to cook as they also offer whole cooked chickens. The staff are also helpful & friendly.

Grabbed takeaway food for friends today. A selection of salads and a carton of pulled chicken. There are several salads to choose from and all fresh, crunchy and flavoursome. Chicken is free range which deserves a tick. I chose a trio of salads and loved that they weren't over-dressed and soggy by the time we ate them. Love the cardboard containers and friendly service. Every last morsel was eaten and fingers licked. Prices are realistic, too. I'll be back. The place has a great vibe. I don't like comparisons as a rule but Boy & Bird just along the street does not even come close in my opinion. I'm thinking Bird on a Wire will be a regular lunch take out for me. Healthy and delicious.

Went for dinner with my partner. Food was okay but not awesome and the service was prompt but awkward. Wouldn't go rushing back but wasn't bad.

Being totally honest, this place has a very cool vibe. I ate with a group of friends and we all agreed that this food was very underwhelming unfortunately. Chicken was definitely good, but the salad and burgers were not.

I love chicken. Fried, roasted, stuffed with cheese, in a salad. Yum. Bird On a Wire does chicken reallllly well. I heard about this place long before I went here, and now I wish i'd gone sooner. Delicious fresh chicken is available in a number of ways including the one I tired; shredded in a warm bun with gourmet coleslaw. It was so simple and so good. This seems to be their philosophy. Simple food, done well. Pick your chicken and then choose from a range of salads. The simplicity of the meals means the flavours shine through. Situated in the middle of the action on Ponsonby Road, you can either sit out front in the sun or get your meal to takeaway and take a stroll down the road for some always entertaining people-watching. Yes, it is pretty close to KFC, and yes KFC is yum (don't deny it), but Bird On a Wire is tasty too, and it doesn't leave you feeling like crap. Choose wisely, choose Bird On a Wire.

My partner and I hit BOAW when we can't be bothered cooking and it's always & healthy meal fix. Uh, not to mention flavourful. Love their funky salads which sometimes can be a meal on their own. If I had to be picky (& really I hate to be), customer service can be a bit off/iffy/cold which is weird & I just don't understand that but maybe it's me but I sense this kinda thing in a a few outlets in trendy areas. Irregardless! I'm definitely a fan of this wonderful food & will be going back & back & back
