Singapore Is Ready to Be Rediscovered—By Tourists and Locals Alike | Condé Nast Traveler

"One morning, seeking a break from the chaotic city, I visited the new Bird Paradise, a designated sanctuary in the freshly carved-out Mandai Wildlife Reserve—among several recently opened nature-focused spaces. From the top of an aviary, I saw a sight rarer than the endangered straw-headed bulbul warbling next to me: a lushly forested horizon, unpierced by a single building."

Well designed birds park that is rightly named as a Paradise for birds. It was an innovative design where the birds were set free inside a huge controlled environment. Each segment had like birds together so they will not be disturbed. It’s nice to see birds flying around and sitting on one’s head or shoulders. The segments are connected by AV based information rooms, which are air conditioned and had resting set up. The flamingo land with the waterfall was very astonishing. Don’t miss on the shows where the birds can be seen performing. Strollers are available for rent for the infants. Mother feeding rooms and baby care rooms were very neatly maintained.

They really thought about this place when they designed it. The entire park comprises of walkways that are wheelchair/pram friendly and are elevated from the ground to take you give you a better bird watching experience. Further, there is an air conditioned section between each enclosure to give you a respite from the heat/rain as the case may be in Singapore. There is a good choice of food options as well. I had a nasi lemak at Old Change Kee which was very surprisingly decent. As an attraction at a steep price point though, there a number of areas they could do better. From the time we entered, it was a full ten minutes or so before we saw any bird life of any sort. They could have some ‘welcome’ birds such as parrots positioned at the entrance so guests can take a welcome picture and to build some form of excitement. While the walkways were intended to provide a better view of bird life, they also resulted in some odd vantage points. Take the cassowary feeding experience for example where guests view the cassowary from above and drop apple segments to the ground in what must be the most unusual and atypical way to encounter the animal. Further, it rained on our visit and while the walkways to/from the enclosures are sheltered, there was flooding on the walkways which is somewhat unforgivable given the certainty of such weather conditions. Overall, it’s an undeniable step up from what was Jurong Bird Park but unless you’re a real bird enthusiast, you could safely give this attraction a miss.

The best place to visit in Singapore. We went with our young kids and we all love this place. Don't miss the amphitheatre show. Luckily we don't have to prebook for it. We reached the park after 11:30 am. We directly took the tram to watch 12 pm show. It was worth the ticket price. The walking trails are also good but hot weather makes it difficult to enjoy. They have many ac stops in between where more information is shared about the birds to be seen in the trail. Those stop overs are such a relief. Highly recommend to bring your fan. Many tourists came with it. They could be bought in advance from outside, not available inside. For parents of young kids, some pull long cart is available at the entrance. Please do take it. It's a lot of walking inside.

Spent about 4 hours here. Many aviaries to go through with air conditioned connecting paths between aviaries. Penguin cove was a stand out, and of course had great weather there to cool off in our hot climate. Most aviaries were very big and had so much space for the birds to fly around. That also meant a lot of walking for us. Caught one of the bird shows which was interactive and was interesting. Many information boards to read and learn more about the birds too. A decent number of toilets and water dispensers around to hydrate. Sufficient shelter around as well, so it didn't feel too warm. Had an Easter egg hunt during the time I was here, which made things very interesting and exciting. Would highly recommend coming, and would definitely come again especially with kids.

A beautiful place for anyone wanting to see an ethical conservation facility. It was the highlight of my time in Singapore. 🦆🦜🐤🦉🦩🪿You can spot and look for the birds which feels much more authentic and ethical - vs zoos where they were easier to spot but knowing they live in confined spaces. These animals were beautiful and well kept we were so impressed with the continuous upkeep, feeding and maintenance. Happy to see vets on site too to make sure all the birds are safe. All the birds looked so healthy and happy, the Amazon parrot (my fave) looked worn out though, it is apparent they care and have checks frequently on all their animals. Ps the workers at the entry were so sweet.

Bird Paradise Singapore was such a lovely experience – truly one of the highlights of our trip. The park is beautifully done, full of lush greenery and open spaces, and you’re surrounded by birds from all over the world. It felt peaceful, fun, and really refreshing to spend a day here. The penguins were an absolute delight! Watching them swim around and play was just too cute – we could’ve stood there for hours. And don’t miss the “Wings of the World” show – it was honestly impressive. The birds flew right above us and the trainers did a great job explaining each one. It was exciting, fun, and informative all at once. The park layout is easy to follow, and there are lots of shaded areas to take a break. There are also water refill stations throughout, which is great if you’re carrying your own bottles. That said, the weather was super humid during our visit. We were sweating quite a bit, so I’d definitely suggest bringing a small portable fan and wearing breathable clothes. Also, while the refill stations were handy, the water wasn’t chilled – and trust me, on a hot day, you’ll wish it was! Still, those are minor things. The overall experience was just beautiful. The birds are well taken care of, the staff was helpful and friendly, and you can tell a lot of love and thought went into creating this place. If you’re visiting Singapore, Bird Paradise should definitely be on your list.

Bird Paradise is a wonderful place for bird lovers. Even if you don’t know much about birds, you’ll still enjoy it because you can see them up close. The park is well-developed, with air-conditioned domes placed between every two sections where you can take a short rest. They also have water dispensers near every washroom, so you don’t need to carry too much water with you. One last tip—don’t miss the shows! As soon as you enter, check the showtimes so you can plan accordingly.

Beautiful space with lots of potential, but honestly, I still prefer the charm and layout of the old bird park. It was a very hot day, and many birds were hard to spot, but the flamingos and penguins were truly the highlights – absolutely stunning and memorable! The environment is clean and scenic (especially the dragon sculpture and waterfall!), and it’s a relaxing stroll if you love nature and wide open areas. Still giving 5 stars because of the overall effort, unique bird species, and those majestic flamingos!
