Birdies Fried Chicken

What a pleasant surprise of a chicken focused restaurant. While the sandwich was great, large piece of chicken and beautifully dressed. The children tenders are really the standout. They were juicy and sizeable while the coating was great. Normally chicken tenders are over breaded and lack any real flavour but not these! The fries were quite nice, think really good chip truck fries. Overall this is a great place for fried chicken and we really enjoyed it. The only thing is there is limited seating here. So if you are a group you won’t be able to sit in and eat. Will be back to eat again.

The chicken tenders are pretty awesome all around. Tried Nashville Spicy and the OG flavour. The OG flavour is better if you want to use one of the dips .....dip flavours come through more. Happy with my quick lunch and chicken tenders. Would come back again.

First time here. I got Chicken and Waffles. Sorry pic was taken half way through eating. It was soooo good! Definitely coming back. Ingredients feel like quality! Good price too.

Stop thinking about it and just go. I read like 20 reviews before I committed - no need. This place is dope. I got the medium hot Nashville chicken tenders, made fresh to order, with a couple pickles and sauce included. Juicy, crispy, and seasoned just right.

Amazing chicken burgers. Juicy and tender. Their honey mustard sauce was delicious as well. Prices were fair for the portion that you get. Highly recommend this place. Will definitely be going back.

Ordered the fried chicken sandwich combo with fries, and it was excellent. Easily one of the best fried chicken spots in Toronto. The chicken was fresh, juicy, and perfectly crispy, and you can really taste the quality. The fries were hot and crispy too. It’s right in front of my house, which makes it super convenient, but even without that, I’d still come back. Highly recommend Birdies on Coxwell Ave.

Would've given it 4.5 stars but half stars aren't a thing. Had chicken tenders and the og chicken sandwich. The tenders were good, but nothing to write home about. I would've thought they would be more in line with the crunchy style of the sandwich?? The sandwich though my husband loved. Large portion too. Fries were excellent. Coleslaw was fine. Super friendly staff here :) managed to snag the three bar seats (the only seats inside) which was nice, as we would've had nowhere else to eat.

I was blown away. I live across town at Queen & Ossington but sometimes head east to the Beaches to walk the dog. My favourite BBQ place isn't open Tuesdays so I just googled "fried chicken near me" and landed here. Never heard of it. Who cares. Had the basic fried chicken sandwich and couldn't find a single thing wrong with it. Hot, spicy but not too spicy, perfect mix of crispy, moist, and tender, and of course a little messy -- but you want that in a fried chicken sandwich. I'll be back. Might have to start alternating this with brisket. ETA: Closer to my hood, I’ve had PG Clucks, Chen Chen, Chica’s, and The Fry. They’re good, but this is better. Now I go out of my way to bring the dog east to the Beaches just so I have an excuse to come here.

An amazing local find that I found while I was in the area! I decided to give this place a try since the reviews looked promising. I visited on a weekend afternoon, a decent amount of people coming in and out. OG Fried Chicken Sandwich: The wait was around 8-10 mins which I didn't mind especially for fresh hot fried chicken sandwich. The fried chicken sandwich was piping hot, very large chicken portions compared to other chicken places. Overall, I had a great experience at Birdies. The spot is more of a takeout type of place with very limited seating. Highly recommend supporting this small local business, truly a gem in the area!

Food: we had the chicken tenders the poutine and the O.G Sandwich (spice level regular) chicken tenders were good especially with the ranch sauce. The sandwich was the classic Nashville hot and even the regular has some spice level that built as you ate it. Poutine and coleslaw were decent. Service was very friendly.

We tried this place out as we were craving fried chicken, we went with the tenders and wings to see what its like, we chose the regular hot spice and for people who love fiery food, we found their lowest level of heat was kinda the perfect amount of heat, The wings were very good, nice and crispy, seasoned well, the tenders were good, good size, cooked perfectly but a little over seasoned, the fries were good too, but ours were a little over salted too, very edible, but on the salty side, overall i found the food tasty and satisfying. i think if i order again, i would order the tenders without the seasoning. Sauces were fairly standard, i do like that they offered plum sauce, perfect for tenders, if they offered a hot honey, i would be super happy. October 12, 2024: We ordered from here again, this time i ordered the Sandwich, and WOW! it was super tasty, and huge! I absolutely love when I get value for my money, a rare thing these days. That sandwich was excellent. nice and crispy, not over battered, they used a buttery and fresh brioche bun, and i loved the fact they toasted the insides with butter, just adds more depth to the sandwich. I dig! super tasty, 100% I will order that sandwich again!!

Wanted to support small business and local so stopped into Birdie's tonight. Ordered a chicken sandwich combo and a chicken tender combo. Let's review in order, ok to bad: 1) chicken tenders - 7/10. They were "fine". Nothing spectacular, but reasonable. Reasonable price on their own. 2) fries - 5/10. Too salty. Nothing spectacular either - but for $4 extra in a "combo" without a drink, totally not worth it. Relatively small portion for that price. 3) coleslaw - 3/10. Very small portion - can't believe this is $4 extra in a "combo". Mushy. Odd flavour for a coleslaw. 4) chicken sandwich - 1.5 / 10. Heavily breaded, greasy chewy chicken meat, maybe some of it was breast, but I don't think so. I would certainly have expected it to be breast. Soggy lettuce on an uninspired bun. See picture of what we ended up not eating.

I'm not sure if ownership changed or their heart isn't in it anymore but it certainly doesn't taste like it did. The Order: Nashville hot sandwich. It was chewy chicken thighs. Kinda rubbery. Not as hot as it used to be. Chicken Bites: this is the new chicken strips. Dry coating & undercooked dark meat. These should really be white meat. I had to cook them for 7 minutes in my fryer. Only ate 2 and tossed them. Poutine: ok wow. This is possibly the worst poutine ever. I asked for fresh fries. Got mushy cold fries. Maybe a tablespoon of gravy and curds that may not be best quality. Poutine needs ample HOT gravy. Charge more and make them right. $34. It was a total lunch bag let down. I ordered in store so it was made to order can't wrap my head around why fries would be cold.

Had OG buttermilk chicken strips. They were ok: not moist but also not dry. They were acceptably but not very crispy yet pretty flavourful. Truck sauce was like slightly spicy Big Mac sauce. The accompanying pickles tasted OK but were a bit dry.

Terrific chicken strips, and nicely breaded (but not too much breading (a positive). Chocolate milkshake also VERY good. But Far East for me, but GOOD (great!) enough to make sure I return.

I LOVED the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. This is matched with Chicas Chicken if you've had it (west). Although I will say, ordering "hot" at chicas, is waaaaay too hot for me. Ordering the Nashville hot here at birdies is PERFECT! (Equivalent to chicas medium) They have a yummy sauce and honestly will be back!! First time trying was great!!! Idk if they have waffle fries I just got the sandwich Highly recommend!!!!

I've been dying to try this place for ages. The pictures of the fried chicken sandwich were just mouth watering. We ordered fries, a chicken sandwich, chicken fingers and coleslaw. The fries would have been better without the huge amount of salt. Like seriously inedible. And I do love my salt but come on. I was thinking about it later and thought it's probably a good thing that I couldn't eat the fries. The chicken sandwich on the other hand was so unbelievably good. Deep fried crispy on a Martins potato bun (I think, that's what it tasted like) with pickles and this crazy good sauce. My husband enjoyed the fingers but said he probably should have ordered the sandwich. Yup, he definitely should have. Coleslaw was super bland. Probably should have added some of the salt from the fries. We also ordered gravy. Not bad, nothing special, but I think next time we just order a couple of sandwiches and call it a day.

I'm in Trouble! That's right, trouble with a capital T. I just had one of the best fried chicken sammy's in my life! Marinated in buttermilk, perfectly seasoned batter and fried to perfection. Crispy outside and juicy inside. The truck sauce is awesome! I also enjoyed the fries and miso coleslaw was delicious and refreshing. Try putting some on the sandwich! My only beef was the serving size of the truck sauce and coleslaw. Both were half full so I felt a bit ripped off...but not enough to deduct a star. The sandwich made up for it and then some! So, why am I in Trouble? I'm a few minutes within walking distance and I have a strong feeling they're gonna know me by name!

Chicken quality has changed. The chicken now tastes like firm rubber and the tenders don't break a part like chicken breast should in layered pieces -probably genetically modified. Use to be a favorite spot, but not anymore. They have also changed the fries which are different but still okay. Not worth the money and the quality is very questionable. Am I even eating real meat? Sorry birdies, we are done.

Tried this for the first time today and was impressed. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich is really good and my favourite right now in the city. The fries were pretty bad and tasted like burnt grease, left a really bad taste in my mouth. The truck sauce was good but I didn't really need it for the sandwich, it was topped perfect with pickles and a good portion of truck sauce. Definitely going to be back, probably just grabbing the sandwich but I will try the tenders which are probably the same chicken as the sandwich. Check it out!!!

Great fried chicken sandwich. Made quick and well. Very friendly staff as well. Will definately try the Nashville Hot sandwich next time and the fries.

The Nashville hot fried chicken is so good. The best kind of spicy! I had one Sunday and by Wednesday I was ready for another. The regular fried chicken is good too, but I think the hot is one of the best out there. Their fries are delicious too. So glad they're in the neighborhood.
