Actually didn't want to even write a review of the Bird's Nest, because stumbling upon it, I felt like I had found a secret treasure that I wanted to keep forever! Alas, friends, I will impart this gift even to you, as something this great can't be kept hidden!
You can imagine my astonishment at finding this gem, and being told it had been located there for over 10 years! I lived just down the street for a time, and my shock was substantial that my shopping sense had never led me here before. The store is absolutely chock full of treasures, I spent a good half an hour just trying to take it all in before I was actually doing any shopping.
The owner is wonderfully warm and friendly, and the subsequent times I've visited, the staff have been equally wonderful. The shop is located on the south side of the post office, next to the Art Supply store, and just east of Starlet and a wonderful sportswear store.
I love the concept of green shopping, whether it be gently pre-used items, or antiquing, as long as the shopping is local, I'm happy. This store not only has green clothing, shoes, handbags, etc, but also highlights many small vendors including some amazing winter scarves and furry glove sets, and given the season I was shopping, many custom creations for Christmas.
My exceptional glee was finding out that in the Christmas season, the store was open till 9pm every night! This provided people with busy schedules( such as myself) some precious shopping time, and it was actually very relaxing and cozy, despite the season. I noticed specifically a great selection of Dooney and Burke, CaBi clothing, and some exceptional custom silk clothing.
My only negative with this shopping experience is that I get a tad overstimulated with so much sensory overload. The store is literally packed, every corner, every nook, with goodies. This actually works for many people, because it gives such a sense of exploring and choices, but it was something of a hassle for me to get through, but that's just me.
I will definitely be back, looking for the next adventure in the bird's nest.
