The cream puff. I wish I could order a bunch and eat them whenever. It was really good. I need to go back and try the other pastries. Had lunch here right after getting to Solvang and my family enjoyed the food. Had a hot pastrami that had some veggies in it and was super light but so flavorful. In the back of the dining area, there's a chalkboard wall that the younger ones liked to draw on while we waited for the food.

I would’ve given full points, but our waitress Chloe -well i was close to asking her if she’s from Europe as We experience this kind of service mostly back in Europe-. Even smiling at her didn’t shake her attitude and she answered but remained as phlegmatic as possible. We haven’t experienced the US so far like this! Smile Chloe, as your life won’t get any better or worse from it, but you can make some customers day better and it might reflect back on your life as well. 😉 Chai latte and Double espresso were great as well as the cheese piece We had.

I found it puzzling that the young blonde female staff member and the middle-aged man, who seemed to be the owner, looked so down despite the store not being particularly busy. I had hoped to enjoy a pleasant moment with some Danish-style desserts, but their gloomy demeanor left me feeling quite heavy-hearted instead. Solvang is a tourist destination with many international visitors, and I hope they keep that in mind while running their business. Otherwise, they might as well put up a sign at the entrance that says, "Tourists not welcome."

For those of us that like cardamom.. Birkholm's Makes and Offers a Cardamom Loaf!!! YUM!! ... And if you like..they will slice it for you.. I use this loaf for preparing a cheese board when picnic'ing.... My next recipe with cardamom bread with be when I make French toast... Fortunately Birkholm's opens early at 6:30 am.. by 9am the rush is over . They also bake family sized kringles and family sized strudels...

WOWWW! I have gotten danishes at several of these places around here when I'm in town, and today I tried this place and it is hands down the best danishes. The key is to go first thing in the morning (we went around 7:30 am) when they're fresh out of the oven. And make sure to ask which ones are fresh out of the oven. You will not regret it. Flaky and buttery and they just melt in your mouth. I got the apricot and my husband got the cinnamon and they were both amazing! We brought in coffee from another location and the owner actually offered to refill them with their coffee - complimentary! He said that they have been making Danish shoes for 73 years, his parents started the place and they use the mom's recipe to this day. Definitely check this place out!

They have a variety of mouthwatering baked items. We tried many things, but my favorite came out to be the carrot cake. They have a nice dine in area, where a big blackboard with chalk is good to engage kids.

Coffee and pastries were decent. Mine was a little stale but it was afternoon by the time we ate.

Ordered a bunch of stuff here including Eclairs, strawberry Boats, some cookies, Veggie sandwich, danish cookie box and coffee. The eclairs was not at all what I expected, looked like the frosting inside was just plain butter and it wasn’t sweet at all. Disappointed. The veggie sandwich though was heavy. Fresh veggies which had a nice crunch and with mayo and cheese. We choose the Squaw bread which was very good. They took awfully long time to get me a regular coffee and had to go and ask different folks about 3 or 4 times in total. The danish cookies were meh. I have had better ones.
