Birmingham Central Backpackers

Rooms are fantastic (we had a single room), with a decent amount of space, places to hang jackets/ scarves, and to move around in general. However, the beds are literally just bits of foam and are really uncomfortable and the pillow was solid so I didn’t have the best sleep. Free breakfast provided (serve yourself) which is handy for people wanting to stay in and not spend as much on food. Bathrooms are clean and presentable, each equipped with a toilet, sink, hand dryer, hand wash and shower, which is truly exceptional. No elevator fitted but stairs are safe to walk up and down especially with luggage. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Hostel is somewhat close to the city centre and is walking distance from markets, shopping centres and the bus station. Definitely recommend

Rooms were clean and facilities were well maintained. Free breakfast was wonderful with good spreads and fruit. Location is central and staff are incredibly helpful. Only downside was the mattresses and bedding which were very uncomfortable. The mattress was literally a piece of foam and sleeping on it felt like sleeping on a piece of wood. Otherwise would book again :)

I've been here four times now. So far, all is perfect. Staff is friendly, rooms are accomodating, toilets and bathrooms are clean, and free breakfast too. It's very close to the Birmingham coach station, and only a 5-minute walk from the newstreet station.

Two visits, both warmly received — each offering a fresh and slightly different vibe. A place to break cycles, soften thought patterns, and share space with pleasant strangers — some keeping to themselves, others exchanging a light word while preparing breakfast or lending a hand. Both experiences were positive, each in its own tone. I would return if needed, and I recommend it to others. The organisation is thoughtful, with labelled personal kitchen items (though not essential in my case, labels are provided at the reception). Guidance is clear: breakfast served 07:00–11:00 (as of 27/08/25, subject to change). Overall — relaxed, peaceful, and well-held.

Very nice people, I felt safe and comfortable. Had a good nights sleep and breakfast. I also was surprised about the cleanness of the showers. I highly recommend the place to anyone who just wants to stay the night and need a place to stay, that doesn’t rip a hole in your wallet!

Birmingham Central Backpackers is hands down the best hostel I’ve stayed in! Everything was spotless the rooms were comfortable, and the bathrooms and toilets were always perfectly clean. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it feel like a home away from home. A special mention to the front desk staff they were incredibly polite, friendly, and helpful throughout my stay. Their warm hospitality made my experience even better. I truly loved my time here and can’t wait to return. In fact, I’m already planning my next visit next month!

Onw of the best Hostels I have stayed in. The staff was amazing, the showers/ restrooms where clean & well maintained & I just enjoyed being there. Their kitchen was well maintained, I will bring food to cook next time. Location was great, or looks hard-core, but its a developing location with little crime

i really enjoyed my stay the staff was really nice minus points: it's indeed a bit too hot in the bedroom and my roomates wasted my sleep great bonus point: COFFEE IS FREE
