Birmingham, Alabama's second largest city still has a good museum, the Birmingham Museum of Art. the pavilions are not too big and not too small, with Renaissance, England, Modern, and 15th-18th Century paintings, statues, and artwork on the first level, and exhibits from Asia (China, Korea, Japan, and South Asia mainly) and the Indian period on the second level.
The innermost part of the first floor is the most wonderful! There were many, many statues that were especially nice! There were also paintings, some of my favorite Impressionists! Caught a Monet! The second floor is basically all bought from China, the blue and white porcelain... It's all very nice... and there are weird Indian artifacts like grass baskets, all legally obtained... There's also a room dedicated to all kinds of kitchenware from a rich house, super luxurious, super nice! There were also tiles that African-Americans would make.
Since the road-trip stopped by Birmingham, it's still appropriate to check it out! Anyway, the museum is free and takes about an hour to wander through. There are a lot of beautiful and delicate paintings, like this one of Central Park! I quite like this museum!
