Bishangari Lodge

I was staying at a nearby resort and decided to check out this place since it was within walking distance and seemed quiet. Upon arrival, I was stopped by the gatekeeper, who was extremely rude and unprofessional. Despite his attitude, I went in to see what the place had to offer, only to find it completely empty with no staff or service available. On my way out, I tried to offer some constructive feedback about the importance of being polite to potential customers, but he remained dismissive and condescending. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I do not recommend this place at all.

We spent the last night of our 10 day trip in Bishangari Lodge.|What to say… incredible.|Surrounded by nature, bishangari lodge is the best place to relax and take a deep breath surrounded by nature.|Walking distance to the lake where you can swim and admire a peaceful sunset.|The staff was really friendly and they made us feel at home. |I recommend staying in Bishangari lodge if you are on your way back from Omo valley to Addis or vice versa. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity !

I recently spent two days and nights at the re-opened Bishangari Lodge, and absolutely loved it. ||The new highway makes the drive between Addis and Langano town much faster, and my four-wheel drive vehicle had no problems with the side road one takes to reach the Lodge (which is at the South East corner of the lake). The road was dusty and required some attention, but I had no concerns at any stage. The extra effort is well worth it, and one is rewarded with spectacular sunsets, proximity to rainforests, and so much peace and quiet. The property itself is large, with plenty of lake shorefront, a sandy beach, a stunning volcanic landscape and some visiting wildlife! ||The rooms are comfortable and functional, and we had plenty of running water, hot showers and a comfortable night's sleep. The birds did wake us in the morning, but the delicious breakfast and plentiful coffee more than made up for that! The chef's homemade food exceeded my expectations, and there was lots of variety and generous portions at every meal. | |Days were filled with swimming, walking and horseback riding in the rainforest, relaxing in hammocks, reading on the cottage's verandah, and enjoying a drink by the shore. I will be back soon, and highly recommend! |

Bishangari is a beautiful hotel to stay at. It runs on solar power which makes it very eco-friendly and helps to fully reconnect with nature. Various activities are avaliable for booking there. We chose to go on a beautiful hiking trip through the old forest. After the hike we went for a swim in the lake. At night we were able to see the stars and enjoy the sounds of the nature around us. ||The special mention has to go to the chef who prepared delicious meals for us. Couldn't recommend staying here more! Great for a getaway.

This was the perfect place for a weekend getaway from Addis. I live in Ethiopia but I'd also recommend to those who are only in the country to visit. The location, facilities, the morning walk in the nature preserve, the private beach, the sunset and especially the staff were all so lovely and perfect - cannot recommend enough and can't wait to return! I have done a fair amount of traveling in the country and can genuinely say this has been the best service I've experience in Ethiopia and my favorite domestic trip so far.

We were fortunate to be given a sneak preview of the newly renovated Bishangari Lodge and it is without doubt a huge plus to the list of tasteful places available to travel to within easy reach of Addis.||The new highway that brings you three quarters of the way down has reduced what was a 5 hour trip to 3, and although the road at this time of the year is dusty, we arrived in fine form for a dip in the lake followed by a horse ride in the 800 year old ancient rain forest that rings the perimeter of the lodge.||The new bungalows are several grades improved to the old ones with solar powered lights and endless hot water. They are spotlessly clean with comfortable mattresses. ||The chef is very interactive and engaged with all of us individually to determine our likes and nots. His pastry, fish and pasta were very good and made us look eagerly forward to the next meal. ||I take a special interest in renewable endeavours and we were impressed with the effort that has been exerted to keep the mains 100% green with an all round solar and a biogas run kitchen. |It holds out to its claim of being a full eco lodge through its solar waste management and recycling, composting, solar water pump from the spring and solar refrigeration. ||We spent the following day reading in the hammocks through the heat of the day and taking an occasional dip in the refreshing lake, then as it cooled, a trek to the center of the forest to view the 900 year old giant fig. ||We saw hippo, warthog, baboons, hornbill, fish eagles and dozens of unusual birds. ||Congratulations to the staff and management that have worked to make this unique gem available again. It was all in all a special experience that I’m keen to repeat as soon as possible. ||We have been told that they fully open next week.

Such a relaxating, comfortable lake front retreat - pleasant surprise after a dusty half hour drive at the end of the trip. Hiking, standing in the waterfall and lying on the beach was very calming. Did not feel like going back after the three days stay.
