24 Best Hotels in Bali

"Follow a bumpy lane from Ubud’s center past little shops and spa outlets, and eventually you'll reach Bisma Eight, an all-suite hideaway that does little to let on that an infinity pool hangs over the valley or that a rooftop restaurant awaits. Once you’ve checked in at the reception desk, you’re led to your suite via an open outdoor corridor blooming with frangipani, pandans, and bamboo. The 38 spacious, stylish suites are home-like in feel. Amenities are designed for digitally savvy travelers, and furnishings blend painstaking craftsmanship with materials such as hessian, woven leather, and delicate basketwork and wicker." - Chris Schalkx, Juliet Kinsman

Bisma Eight

"Tell us about your first impressions as you roll up to the front door.Follow a bumpy lane from Ubud’s center past little shops and spa outlets, and eventually you'll reach Bisma Eight, an all-suite hideaway that does little to let on that an infinity pool hangs over the valley or that a rooftop restaurant awaits. Once you’ve checked in at the reception desk, you’re led to your suite via an open outdoor corridor blooming with frangipani, pandans, and bamboo. What's the story behind this place? The project of passionate first-time hoteliers, Bisma Eight demonstrates an acute attention to detail, from room size and layout to the way the property is organized. Okay, take us up to your room. What can we expect from the accommodations? The 38 spacious, stylish suites are home-like in feel. Amenities are designed for digitally savvy travelers—large cable TVs and DVD players, powerful Wi-Fi—and furnishings blend painstaking craftsmanship with materials such as hessian, woven leather, and delicate basketwork and wicker. Giant cedar Japanese bathtubs in the generous wood-clad bathrooms—which are stocked with chemical-free toiletries—further the hotel's synergy with nature. If we're in need of a pick-me-up, any good food and drink options on site?Copper Kitchen & Bar, a rooftop restaurant and bar, does contemporary takes on international and Indonesian classics; many of the ingredients come from the hotel’s organic farm. Breakfast is a winner; coffee-loving digital nomads will especially enjoy retreating from Bali’s heat and humidity in the air-conditioned, barista-staffed library. There's an onsite coffee shop—a nice touch, although we'd love to see it offer more in the way of retail. How did the staff treat you during your stay?Whether they’re serving you fresh coconuts by the ridiculously photogenic infinity pool or just totting up your bill, the staffers here are all charming—and, with encouragement from the owners, they're all authentically themselves. Who are you likely to see staying here?Curious culturalists, hip honeymooners, and adventurous young families. How does the hotel fit into the surrounding area? How accessible are the local sights and highlights? It's a bit of a walk to Ubud's many market stalls, boutiques, and restaurants, especially in the searing sunshine, so the hotel runs a shuttle a few times a day. Because Bisma Eight is set on the edge of the river, a japan-jalan, or "walk," can be an appealing way to appreciate the landscape. You'll amble past green rice paddies, ramshackle huts, and shrines garnished with flowers before arriving in Ubud's busy center. Bottom line: What's this place all about?Discreet all-suite hideaway that's one with nature." - Juliet Kinsman

Bisma Eight Ubud (Ubud, Bali) 7 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"What’s better than a Balinese boutique hotel? A Balinese boutique hotel with a Japanese twist, that’s what. We’ll take your infinity pool and raise you a handcrafted Japanese-inspired soaking tub in every room; we’ll take your peaceful jungle setting and up the ante with minimalist design, yoga on the rooftop, and an impossibly picturesque, almost-too-cute-to-eat breakfast. That’s the idea at Bisma Eight, a 38-suite hotel right in the center of Ubud. This is Bali’s artisan capital, and the designers have taken proper advantage of that fact. But it’s different from what you’d expect here, and that’s part of its appeal." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed 4 nights at Bisma Eight in September 2024 and were really happy with this choice, particularly the location as it was quite calm and we were able to walk pretty much everywhere, mostly avoiding sitting in the horrendous Ubud traffic! ||The room was fine and the staff were friendly. The hotel seemed quite busy when we were there – particularly noticeable around the pool and at breakfast – but the service was still of a high standard. The food and drinks we had were good quality and we appreciated the a la carte breakfast options. We also enjoyed a great takeaway breakfast (including freshly made coffees) for our early departure on check out day (we’ve had mixed experiences with this elsewhere in the past!). ||The spa in the other building was a little functional but we had a pleasant massage and it was nice that someone drove us back and forth in air conditioned comfort! ||We arranged a car and driver through the hotel one day to go out sightseeing; we had identified 3 or 4 places we wanted to go in advance and someone from the hotel drove us around and made sure we had water, cold towels, and were appropriately dressed in sarongs when needed. This was a great service and felt like pretty reasonable value. ||All in all, a great Ubud experience.

Visited Ubud for a week and chose Bisma Eight for a serene, romantic getaway even though I usually prefer global chain hotels when travelling abroad. It turned out to be an excellent decision because Bisma Eight was literally better than our imagination in every way. We got upgraded to a Forest Suite upon check in and the room was beautiful. It was huge with a lot of living space and the interiors were done very tastefully. The service and the staff were the best part, always smiling and always striving to make your stay as comfortable as they possibly can. Copper Bar is really good too with a quaint, countryside ambience. We had breakfast included in our reservation but were surprised to find out that it wasn't a buffet. However, the breakfast menu was varied enough and we ended up really liking the food and drinks. My wife is a vegetarian and she was very happy with the veg options as well. All in all, cannot recommend Bisma Eight enough. If you are coming to Ubud, this is the hotel to stay at.

Excellent friendly staff, beautifully designed accommodation. We were a family of 4 and the kids had a sofa bed each (one raised, one on the floor). Comfy beds, beautiful lighting, abundance of sockets and rooms cleaned daily. The breakfast is exceptional with table service & everything you could wish for. We would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone- couples, solo travellers & families alike

Bisma Eight is a fantastic hotel. My wife and I stayed for 8 nights. Great facilities, the pool is spectacular. The copper bar is great for food and drinks. Didn't get to try Mori but it looked excellent (if a little quiet, I didn't see many people eating there each night). The staff are what makes this hotel so good though. Always smiling, always attentive and nothing is too much of an ask for them. The spa is also excellent and for some high end dining EMBERS has some fantastic food

Lovely rooms facing a fantastic view (jungle view). You walk past a tranquil garden to reach the pool and your rooms. Great service. It’s a 10 minute walk to the Main Street on one end and the Monkey Forest on the other end.

Google
A fantastic resort. Great location - not so close to the main street that there's too much noise or foot traffic and not so far either to the center of Ubud (you are better off walking or taking a grab bike because Bali traffic is getting pretty bad). The rooms are super spacious, comfortable and clean. They have that onsen style tub which serves as a unique selling point. I got the Forest Suite which is located in the quietest part of the hotel, right at the edge with beautiful views of the rainforest right outside your balcony. And because they offer the option for you to have breakfast delivered to your room at no extra charge, this quickly becomes the highlight of the resort! Service is excellent too. Everyone you meet is so friendly and well trained.

Central location, yet with a feeling of being in the jungle. Great service and friendly staff. High quality a la carte breakfast, and I would also recommend to try lunch or dinner in one of their restaurants.|I found the concrete walls to be a bit rough, but that is more of a personal preference. Other than that the hotel is very aesthetically pleasing.

A fantastic resort, beautiful villas with an open plan design and a very calm atmosphere. Capri and the team are lovely people, so friendly and helpful and always making sure that you are happy and looked after. The food in Embers is amazing, everything we have had (either at breakfast or dinner) is of the highest quality and absolutely delicious. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Ubud.
