Visited couple times and i won’t be lying when i said: reserve before coming (if possible) because the place is small yet everyone wants to eat vlaai here. Other pastries also available (broodjeworst, also a favorite from this place). Recommended to pack some pieces home for your loved ones because you haven’t visited maastricht without vlaai from their place.

The best vlaai (local traditional pie) in town. It was recommended for me by several people and it is indeed really good, with a great value for money (€ 3,50 each slice). I had the one with apple and apricot and the one with cherries as they were the waitress’s favorites and they tasted amazing. The cherry one was pretty sweet, so if you’re not the biggest fan of sweets, I’d recommend the apple one. The place is very cute and is an old mill, which you can visit. Most definitely recommend!

I went to the Bisschopsmolen Bakkerij first and bought vegan cookies. Very fresh and delicious. But vlaai slices can be purchased next door. Next door shop has seatings with drinks also. Best place to try fresh vlees and bakery items. Staff are very friendly as well.

A must try in Maastricht, beautiful fresh vlai with different fillings. They bake them fresh every hour, and you can see that at the back as well. It is not a place you can easily find a place and sit relaxed. Abit hectic and not so clear where to go and which queue to wait behind. There are three entrances and so unclear what the difference is.. they don’t have a well functioning system for serving the customers. They are very friendly though, and you’ll find your way.

Had a lovely breakfast here today. I asked for the apple and pecan pie with a cappuccino, and the combination was delightful. You can sit, and they will go to your table to take your request, and while you wait for your food to arrive, you can enjoy the lovely ambience inside. After you eat, you can check out the mill right beside it. Overall, everything was great, and I'm really happy I did a bit of research to find this place. Please come here to enjoy their lovely and delicious pies 🤭🫶🏼

I truly understand why they say this is the best vlaai in Limburg, it was absolutely incredible. I highly recommend this place for a sandwich (made with their delicious home baked bread) and a slice of vlaai to follow. There aren’t many tables and it does get busy, so service can be a bit slow, but you can tell they try their best and its service with a smile. We walked in but it may be best to book if coming with a bigger group.

Very authentic pastry, we tried a few items, the waffle, their famous cherry pie, and a veggie sandwich. Also, at the back of the store, you will find an actual windmill. It’s pretty cool! Worth to visit !!

There is a reason why this place is popular in Maastricht. We thought the Vlaai tasted amazing. We had Plum and luckily just-baked Cherry also. The pies were just sweet enough, not too much. They go well with a cup of coffee. It was cool also that you’re able to see the mill.

Yelp
My daughter found out about this place on Instagram. So in my mind, there was a lot of hype going in. It was on our must do list for when we visited Maastricht. But the lines and prices were reasonable and the pies were tasty, but not mind blowing. The molen was not turning while we were there but we did walk about back and see it nonetheless. Then on a tour we visited again and learned the history of it which was cool. If you are visiting Maastricht I would definitely stop by for for a treat and to see the mill.

Yelp
We came across this little shop when going to the old gate. It is next to an old water mill. The mill and the history are interesting. The shop is a little bakery with a bit more. They have great pies and great coffee. We went twice. It's great for a mid morning or mid afternoon break.

Yelp
We were only in Maastricht for a few hours so before we checked out the caves, we stopped in for lunch at De Bisschopsmolen. They're known for their fruit pies and sourdough breads. We dropped in on a Tuesday (around 12:30pm) and it was busy. Seat yourself and try to flag down a waiter to place your order. The menu is small; breakfast (until 11:00am), bread boards, soup, salad, omelet, pizza, toasties and their specialty limburgse vlaai. You need to ask what fruit pie flavours they have for the day (strawberry rhubarb, cherry and apricot were available from what we remember). - Latte macchiato (€2,95) - standard but you could clearly see the layers were separated. - Farmer's omelet (€7,75) - fresh veggies, ham and cheese. This was incredibly small. Omelet was bland and overcooked. Nothing good to say about it. - Bread board (€9,75) - three types of toasties (vegan, chicken and classic). Vegan had hummus, zucchini, carrots, red peppers and green onions. Chicken had a tasty homemade pesto, spinach and green onion. Classic had liver ham and green onions. Our favourite was the classic. - Limburgse vlaai (€2,70) - they had several flavours but we went with the apricot. Thick crust was crunchy, flaky and apricot filling was solid. Get one. Stick with their bread board and fruit pies.

Yelp
Looks like a popular bakery with a grab and go area as well as a sit down area in the back. We sat in the small seating area in the back but you have to get really lucky to get a seat. Luckily we did. The menu is straightforward so don't expect too many choices. They did have a soup of the day which was Split pea soup. We tried it and weren't thrilled. The Croissant with ham was kind of basic as well. Both items tasted like airplane food. We figured out that you come here for the pies. They were all pretty good. We had the rhubarb, berry, and another fruit pie that was lovely. Next time I would come for a coffee/tea and a slice of pie. Don't order anything else you will be disappointed.

Yelp
Not easy to find bakery, restaurant and museum. The latter offers friendly service and very good pizza!

Yelp
Nice place to hang out with friends even though it's a bit hidden. They have various great Limburg pie. Their coffee is great too.

Yelp
Fabulous artisan bakery with coffee shop. Famous for its spelt bread and baked goods - especially fruit pies. Menu also has a nice choice of lunch dishes.

Yelp
A must see for anyone who visits Maastricht, whether it's a day trip or longer. Their pies are fantastic. The crust is out of this world. Slightly bitter in order to counteract sweetness of the filling. Truly the best. The brownies are to die for. Dark, rich, and melt in your mouth. A+.

Yelp
Famous place but overrated I think. The bread is nice but the food is fairly dull. Of course as a tourist you have to go and try it, and its got a great history. I would probably skip lunch and just go for cake.
