Bistro 694

Now we are approaching 10 years together. We went to Bistro 649 to celebrating and I had seafood alfredo ..the best ever. Nancy, chef's wife new we were celebrating and put a small candle in a little cup ..which I still have. We live in ontario and doubt if we get to return. If closer. We would for sure Thanks for making our day special in every way. Would love the recipe if you ever feel inclined

A very nice restaurant with great tasting food, made for a very enjoyable evening dinner experience

Dinner was absolutely fantastic! We had the prawn curry and chicken with Gorgonzola cheese. Both portions were so tasty and portions generous. We were served by the owner, Nancy who was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely return.

We are new to the area but have tried all the restaurants including some very nice ones. We dined at Bistro 694 last evening and it was the best by far!! Very friendly service, nice menu and awesome food. Even the martinis were top drawer. We can not recommend it enough. Book early as it is very popular - not surprisingly!

The best meal we've ever had. And Nancy was INCREDIBLE. Not only did she squeeze us in on a cancellation (we're from the mainland and had no idea we should have reserved weeks in advance) she was an absolute sweetheart who made our dining experience so much better! The Chef (we later found out was Nancy's husband!) knocked our food out of the park! The crab cakes are stupid good... order them! The prawn curry was ridiculous (I wanted to lick the plate) and the seafood crepes was so good we didn't leave a speck even though we were full. Lastly (even though we had to unbutton our pants at this point), the creme brûlée knocked out socks off, so yeah you guessed it, we finished that too! We'll be back every time we come to the island.

Very small and intimate setting. You would do best to have a reservation as o have never gotten in when I've just shown up. Only open Thursday to Sunday 4 to 9 ISH. They have a lovely wine selection and their food is prepared from scratch from local ingredients. The waiter was very intuitive and visited the table at exactly the right times. I had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back again.

One of my favourite restaurants In Qualicum meals are always perfect, full of flavour and done how you like it. Service is amazing, staff remembers what you like and attentive, fun and knowledgeable with their wines. Lately starting to cut vegetables in half and specials not filling “watching” don’t know if they changed portion size ? or just had a few off months..

Was hungry and drove around looking for this place ... but unfortunately ... it closed and the location is not a Sushi restaurant.

Delicious food and wine, great ambiance, and perfect service. Had heard many good things about the chicken with Gorgonzola and walnuts and it didn't disappoint - I'd order it again in a heartbeat and can't wait to go back!

I decided to order take out from Bistro 694 after a busy day. We had a feast of crab cakes, curried prawns with rice and chicken breast with Gorgonzola sauce with vegs. To top things off we had their delicious carrot cake. When picking up our meal, I was super impressed with all the measures they implemented due to COVID-19. I would not hesitate to dine in next time, and thank Bistro 694 for their efforts.

Best food, service and romantic spot. Love it for special occasions. Always make a reservation early to hold your spot!

We dined at Bistro 694 last night for the third time. As always it was fantastic. Tony and Nancy are gracious hosts. The venue is cozy and welcoming. We started with Salt Spring Island mussels. My wife had pork tenderloin and I had the curried prawns. Our appetizer and meals were skillfully prepared and presented. If you are in Qualicum Beach this is the place to go. Thanks Nancy and Tony for making our evening out superb.

the.place is very cosu with only 7 tables and 3 on the patio. the crab cakes were oven cooked to perfection the ceasar salad had a beautiful garlic dressing. we gad the seafood special which was cook perfectly. I had the prawn currie which was delicious a little something for everyone's tastes

Dined at Bistro 694 on May 14, 2017 (Mothers Day) for the first time. Very enjoyable experience; nice ambience, excellent service and great food. My wife had the halibut special and raved about it, was beautifully cooked and delicately seasoned. I had the seafood crepes which were excellent; as it was our Anniversary our server even brought us out a small fruit plate with a candle; a very nice touch. Had a local pale ale from Loveshack Libations; the wine by the glass was very reasonably priced. Will definitely return !

Bistro 694 is a little treasure of a restaurant that provides intimate ambiance and wonderful food. It's my favourite place to go!

Great little place for good food! The restaurant is quaint, the staff are pleasant, the food is tasty and presented well and the wine is good and priced right. Not for a big crowd but very romantic!

This was probably one of our favourite restaurants in Qualicum. he only hold back was the roasted potatoes that are these tasteless, shrivelled pieces of nothing. The rest of the dinner was generally superb, however one of our party ordered pasta. The sauce tasted like flour, unlike any pasta sauce we've had. We were terribly disappointed.

Such a hidden gem. From the drinks to the dessert, it was the first time I had gone out and every item was exceptional. Had the craft beer IPA, crab cakes, butter chicken. Amazing little place and food was superb, very fresh ingredients. A bit on the pricey side but definitely don't miss for special occasions!

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We shared the crab cakes as our appie and it was perfect. I had the special which was sole stuffed with salmon and my partner had the seafood crepes. Both were excellent Can't wait to return and try more of the menu. We don't go out for dinner often as the last few times were pretty mediocre, but I'm glad we found this gem. It has redeemed our going out for dinner disappointments.

The service at Bistro 694 is flawlessly attentive. The food would be a skid 5 were it not for the fried potatoes. Amongst the few fine dining spots in our area it is a stand out. Service score 5+. Interior decor 5. Food except for fried potatoes a sol5.

Best crab cakes I've ever had. Hidden gem in Qualicum, which isn't exactly known for its restaurants. Exceptional service, better than expected food. I'll be back!

Precisely 30 minutes from time of order to delivery of sandwich to table. For quicker service with fewer restrictions on opening times, head up to Baileys.

Couldn't say a bad thing about this place if I tried. Beautiful restaurant with a friendly down to earth staff. We started with the scallops which were a hit. Moved on to the seafood crepe and steelhead special. Wow highly recommend. Creme brulee for dessert. Would visit the island again for that dessert alone. Came to just over $100 with a bottle of wine. The chef came out and talked to the guests. If you're on the island you would be making a mistake if you didn't stop here. Will be back and that says a lot considering we are from Calgary

Had dinner tonight with the family. I started with the scallops. My only issue with these was there was a little too much different flavours which tended to drown out the hero. Main course was the fish special, Arctic Char. Very nicely done. Best of all were the desserts: chocolate torte and carrot cake. Out of this world.

This Bistro is FABUILOUS since the new owners took over. The food is made right then and there with the freshest ingredients. They have a smaller menu allowing them to concentrate on quality over quantity. When you are seated you get some fresh made bread with a small 3 vessel tray with oil and balsamic, butter and some olives to munch while you decide on your meal. I have had both of the curry dishes and loved them, as well as the pasta carbonara (house made and SO delicious) and added on some fresh seafood (prawns and scallops). All 3 meals there have been perfection! One tiny critique I have is that with the major focus on local food, they should consider making their wine list more local as well. No need to import wines -- we have LOTS of great island wines, or go further afield to all of BC and you still can have some of the finest in the world -- no need for cheap imports. All-in-all, | love the place and recommend them to friends and family all the time. Closed Monday and Tuesdays.

We only get to Qualicum Beach one month a year but manage to eat here 4 or 5 times. We have had almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. The vegetables are cooked to perfection, and the sauces are fabulous. Soups are fresh and seasonal. Eating here is a real treat and this family run bistro shouldn't be missed. Be sure to make a reservation for this small elegant restaurant.

My family and I were looking for a good local place to have a nice dinner with our mother. We hit the right spot. I had always seen this restaurant but it never used to be open for dinner. Now with new owners as of July 2011 it is open 5 days a week for lunch and dinner. The food included locally sourced products and included a nice variety of choices. For starters we had the crab cakes, bruschetta and scallops - perfect! I had the special and it was very good with a nice sized portion. For dessert I had the chocolate bread pudding - like nothing I had ever had - by far the best choice at the table! Everyone left happy and full and wanting to come come back again.

This restaurant is a total gem! From the starters to mains to dessert everything is quality. Great friendly and personal service. Quality of food is very good. We do dine out a lot and this restaurant truly stands out, even from the big city of Tronna lol! We will be back. Highly recommend.
