Wow! What a bathtub ! Long and deep it was so relaxing and such a treat to soak after long walks and busy days. L'occitane amenities including a bath bomb. Hotel staff excellent in their desire to help Scallops on their menu was so good we had it two nights out of our four night stay Great location and central to the botanical garden and shopping and eating on Byres street

NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. My 2 year old spent a glass of milk, asked for napkins to clean it up, and instead of bringing napkins they said they were out of napkins and asked them to leave the breakfast room. "OUT OF NAPKINS"!! Are you kidding me? The manager made my wife cry with her actions. I won't recommend this this you if you have kids as the staff made us feel like they hates kids, such a shame

I'll be blunt. This place sucks. Where to start? 1. Couldn't dine in our hotel because of a private function. Was sent down the street. 2. Bar was packed with guests as the only place to eat. No one came even greet us. 3. Charged for our stay twice as we check our hotel bill. Double billed is a typical scam. 4. No help with luggage to curb. At no time did anyone seem genuinely interested in our travel stay. This place is well over priced for terrible service. Scott upon arrival and Oksana in the bar are the only thing that made our stay tolerable. Thanks to them. Go to a Ritz Carlton instead.

Rooms are amazing. Afternoon tea. Coffee is fantastic and champagne. Victorian bath in room high ceilings.

A rather special hotel that we stayed in for a nice romantic break. We chose the club room this time, which was quite small and in house 2. It's quite a strange hotel as it is separate houses (hoping to work our way through all 5 eventually!) The concierge was a wonderful man that gave us a tour of our room and told us a bit of history about the building. The stained glass windows are very beautiful. The rooms are very luxurious and I love having the Nespresso machine by the bed. There are speakers for your iPhone/iPod but they use the old style dock. So remember to bring an adapter if you have an iPhone 5 or higher! The breakfast was delicious and they make their own breads in-house. I had an amazing Eggs Royale for breakfast and the smoked salmon was just perfect.

Who doesn't love a hotel with fabulous room names like Botham Merrill Willis?! Granted it took me about 4days to remember my room 'number'. The customer service at Hotel Du Vin is top notch. It all started with David, the concierge in the kilt who had such a genuine personality. By the time I left my dog and him were buddies....yes that is right Hotel Du Vin allows pets. Hotel Du Vin was literally my temporary home while I tried to find living arrangements for me and my dog (just moved to Glasgow). This is a great location and conveniently located in the charming West End. All the front desk staff were so pleasant and helpful, but I don't remember all their names since I stayed here for a week! They helped steer me around this foreign city and gave me tips on places to go, how to travel, where to dine and much more. My room was absolutely gorgeous with a King sized canopy bed, loungy velvet burgundy couch, marbled bath tub, a separate shower with a rain shower head, and big picture windows overlooking the bustling street. All rooms come with free wifi, large flat screen TV, Nespresso coffee machine (including pods), and 24hour room service. The toiletries smelled refreshing with undertones of citrus and basil, and I loved their hand milled soap bars- so soft on the hands. I cannot say enough about their cleaning staff! The ladies were so pleasant and accommodating. I had to arrange cleaning times since I had the dog and they were so flexible. The fabulous ladies also hooked me up with plenty of still water since I am a silly American that doesn't like the bubbly stuff. If I have friends or relatives in town needing accommodation, this is where they will stay for sure! Hell if I need the spoils of a stay-cation, I will come back and visit to be wined and dined!

Our friend very generously bought us the 4 course champagne lunch as a Christmas gift last year and we finally got around to making the short trek to Glasgow to take advantage of it. Hotel Du Vin is simply a lovely place to sit, eat and enjoy the company of whoever you are with. The service is impeccable and the food is very nice indeed. You can see they are pushing the standards up, food is beautifully presented and packed with flavour. Our four course experience started with a sit in the bar over a glass of champagne, included in the deal but an extra £10 per glass if you want a refill. Personally I always balk at paying that kind of money for something that I know is simply not worth it. Nothing is in my opinion but that is a rant best saved for another time. Once we made our order we were escorted to the dining room with no rush or hurry, our time set the pace. Once at the table we were offered bread and a lovely Rosemary Foccacia was presented, still warm, packed with flavour and moist. I could have eaten quite a bit of that on its own. My starter was the Gravadlax, three coils of smoked salmon with a side salad. Not a huge portion but the flavour was delicate and light. Maybe the dressing for the salad was slightly too strong or the salty crust of the bread overwhelmed the salmon but I had to try to discern the smoked salmon rather than have it come through on its own. However it was a very nice starter and set the tone. My wife had a terrine of ham hock and enjoyed it greatly as well. For my main I had the pork belly. Pork belly is very much an ingredient of the moment, a cheaper cut that can be made to seem high end with careful cooking. That is what they achieved here. A confit and then crisped made for a delightful crust and soft succulent meat not overwhelmed by fat, a common problem with belly. Served with cabbage, parnsip puree (not enough in dots) and a sauce this was a delightful dish. For her main my wife had the Coley and was as impressed as I was in the quality of the main course. A short wait and the pre-dessert came. This was (I assume) a siphon piped passionfruit mousse. It is hard to make this look fine dining as it was simply a yellow blob in a bowl. For all the effort put into the rest of the dishes here I think they may want to look again at the way this is presented. However, it tasted superb. Fresh passion fruit flavour and a light creamy texture. Had that been a dessert then I would have been happy. We both had the Chocolate Torte for our dessert, a rich circle of torte and a blackberry sorbet that cut right through it. This was a chocolate lovers dessert, strong rich and dark with a firm yet smooth consistency. The sorbet perfectly setting off the flavours with a sharper fruit flavour. I had a glass of a South African red at £8.95 and my wife a white at much the same price. This is about the regular price for a half decent wine in a glass these days so nothing to comment on really. The sides, well I am not so sure hers was as good as mine. Sides for the mains were £3.95 extra each and I had the pomme fritte and she the grean beans. While I got a decent sized bucket of nicely made chips she got a bowl of beans, for £3.95! Not the best really and there should have been a green on the plate included. Again this is something that is more or less normal now so it is a matter of choosing if you want to pay that kind of money for something you know costs them 20p or so! Having had those tight fisted gripes at the end I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this deal for anyone looking for a lovely luncheon experience in Glasgow. Not intimidating, not stuffy but with nice staff, pleasant atmosphere and lovely venue topped off by great food. This is a special event place for mortals but that is what makes special events worth the extra.

We just returned from a stay at the Hotel du Vin in Glasgow. Generally we were very pleased with the stay. However, it was a somewhat short of the advertised 5 star rating. At a glance: Pros - Charming old fashioned and spacious rooms, outstanding bedding which made for a good night sleep, good amenities, competent and friendly service, well decorated common areas. Cons - No air conditioning, disappointing "monsoon shower room", poor hot water/water pressure control in the shower, no in room safe, no lock/bolt for the door, expensive internet, horrifyingly loud and gaudy Saturday night disco/karaoke at the bistro. Our review: What we liked in particular was the warm traditional styling of the room which was quite large and are very comfortable to stay in. They really did well to retain a genuine local feel, without compromising on most of the comforts you'd expect to find in such a property. It was very much in sync with the common areas in the hotel which were also very pleasing to the eye (especially the colorful mosaic on the glass). Aside from the sleeping area, we had a sitting area with TV, and a small dining area which was nice. A great amount of space! The bedding was also of good quality so we slept rather well. Oh yes, and the bathroom was huge and well done with some top end finishes (except for the shower). They also gave us nice little amenities like an LCD flat screen TV, a coffee and tea kit, and a stereo which is always set to the classics after housekeeping comes by; a nice touch when you arrive home from a long day. I also want to add that the service was competent, unpretentious, and friendly, but a bit removed from what you'd expect in the usual 5 star hotel. Regarding what was not so good, our major complaint was the lack of a cooling system in the room. We were on a high floor and despite it being 65 degrees outside and rather pleasant, the room was uncomfortably warm. We were left with a rickety old fan as our salvation, something that was really not 5 star quality. We were also looking forward to the advertised "monsoon shower room" however it was was vastly overstated and basic (it was basically a normal stand up shower with a nice shower head). On top of that there was a poor level of hot water, clunky water pressure control in the shower, and a very cheap quality shower door to boot. There were a few other shortcomings as well, for example there was no in room safe for our valuables. With security in mind, there was also no lock or bolt on the door from the inside, it simply shuts when you close it. Nothing happened to our things but if you have a laptop or any valuables it may be a concern. Finally, some small things were a bit on the poor side, like the expensive internet at 10 pounds a day, a low end business center consisting of a painfully outdated computer and printer, and the bistro which turned into a Saturday night karaoke/disco, complete with drunks on the hotel grounds and a gentleman urinating in the bushes. Ouch. Overall I would recommend the hotel and would likely stay again, but it would be wise to expect 4 star quality rather than 5 star luxury.

Like Lewis I can only dream of being able to afford to spend a night or two in this iconic Glasgow hotel. I also can't really justify it when I live more or less around the corner! I have splashed out and had a meal in the restaurant though which was stunning! The hotel has 49 bedrooms and suites and has won umpteen awards, as has the restaurant. One Devonshire Gardens is a beautiful terrace of blond converted sandstones and you can see from the gorgeous entry hall that this place is something special. The dark wood panelling, marble pillars and leather couches that are so soft that you can actually see how soft they are, you don't need to sit on them are the first things you see. You will inevitably be met by a remarkably polite and friendly member of staff who can literally not do enough for you. If you are lucky enough to be staying at the hotel then you will either be in one of the more contemporary, newly refurbished rooms complete with monsoon shower or a more traditional but equally stunning room with beautiful Victorian features. As with all hotels of this nature you can book a standard room for a lower price or really splash out and get a fabulous grand suite! If you are visiting for a meal you will be led through to the wonderfully intimate oak panelled bistro where they have proper actual table clothes, woooo! The food in the bistro is to die for! It is mega expensive with a starter coming in it at around £10, a main course £25 and a dessert at £10, ouch! It is worth every penny though as the modern European food served here is divine! The last time I ate here I had the duck for my main and then the pineapple tart tatin for dessert and I could have cried it was so delicious! I definitely recommend eating at the bistro at One Devonshire Gardens for your next (very) special occasion!

This review is about the hotel, not the bistro. I stayed at Hotel Du Vin - Glasgow, for two nights, and I can tell you, I've never stayed anywhere better. First of all, I didn't know the place existed and it was a surprise given to me and my new husband by our friends on our wedding night. When we entered, we were greeted, first of all by a doorman, which is a new thing for me. He called me 'Ma'am'. Also, new for me. The maitre'd approached us once inside the door, a bellhop helped us with our bags, and we were welcomed into the front sitting room, complete with roaring fire in the ornate fireplace. While the maitre'd looked up our reservation, we were given glasses of champagne to enjoy by the fireplace while our room was being prepared. First impression when I entered the room? Oh. My. God. It was gorgeous. We had our own fireplace, which was lit for us before we entered, a desk, a vanity, a dining table, two chairs, four poster bed, wardrobe. The maitre'd showed us around the room and down the hall (yes, down the hall!) to the bathroom, which boasted marble floors, pristine tiling, sink, toilet, full bathtub big enough for two, and of course, the monsoon shower. Our towels were neatly folded in a linen cupboard, and we had real glasses perched at the side of the sink. Breakfast was included in our room, but there was none of this, 'come down to the lobby between 9 and 11' that you get with most hotels. No, indeed, we were given a menu card where we checked the boxes of what we wanted, and then the time we wanted it. It arrived on a tray at the specified time; coffee, tea, fruit compot, croissants with little jars of jam and pats of butter on the side. And real napkins, like, the cloth kind. We sat in the morning, eating our breakfast by the warmth of the fire and thought, 'This is hotel heaven'. The hotel also has an outdoor heated gazebo where, it was boasted in our welcome book, 'you can take a cigar or a brandy'. Nice. We had brunch one morning in the cafe area which looked as though, before the smoking ban, it might have been a place where gentlemen would take a cigar and a brandy after dinner. I had what would normally be called a 'bacon roll', but it wasn't. It was thick toasted bread with gammon, a poached egg and a little serving pitcher of hollandaise sauce to pour on top. You definately would need cutlery with this; and possibly the poshest bacon roll I've ever eaten in my life. We were sad to leave when our two nights were up. We were helped out with our bags by the bellhop, with the doorman holding the door open and opening the door to our cab. I do have plans to go back, perhaps when I've saved enough. Definitely worth it.

This is a review for the hotel room, not for food as we didn't eat here. Such a disappointing stay and not at all four star. The location is far away from everything - quiet, but thats all you can say for it. The hotel is very run down. The carpets are so dirty both in the reception areas and in the bedroom. We were in House Five, top story room, Peter Lehmann Room. The room was large, but the decor was so tired and the bed was probably the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept in. Won't stay here again. Also be prepared to carry your suitcases up several flights of stairs.... sigh. Normally Yelp always steers me in the right direction, but in this case I just don't understand the positive reviews, unless the room was free as in some cases. Our experience and the positive reviews just don't marry.

First time having cocktails and some lunch at hotel du vin. I have to say that the cocktails were excellent. Really well balanced and well presented. The lunch itself was a nice choice and presented really well. I chose a steak sandwich, unfortunately it was a bit tough making it pretty difficult to eat. That aside, this was a great experience. The hotel is well decorated and the staff are very friendly. They do have some bizarre rules. Apparently you can't sit at the high tables in the afternoon unless you're having high tea! All very strange, not sure why it really makes a difference. Anyway, a small chink in an otherwise good experience.

Faultless dining. Everything on the plate told me the guy behind the scenes in the big white hat was putting his heart into this. His front of house staff didn't let him down either. Yes it's not cheap but you can sometimes wangle a mid-week deal that takes the edge of the bill. The chef plated a free Amuse Bouche for us to try before bringing out the big guns. Mind blowing stuff. Finished the evening off with a couple of cocktails that kept the good feelings going that little bit longer. Once I'd agreed contract terms for my soul, I scraped together the funds to settle the bill. If you're going to go, dress smart and make the most of it!!!

Wow is really the only word to describe this place! From the moment we arrived till when we left we felt like we were being cared for at every turn! The staff are warm friendly and welcoming! The right level of chatty without being invasive! The barman from Krakow is a legend and was kind enough to show us the wine cellar! Our room the Vettriano suite was superb, really out of this world! A duplex it was just everything and more we could have dreamed of! The whisky snug and bar area quite literally dotted with celebrities was amusing but at no point did we feel out of place or that the staff saw us as less important! Breakfast was wow wow! Scrambled egg, smoked salmon and caviar! Just amazing! I can't stop smiling thinking about the weekend we just had here! We will be back! Jd = in awe!

This is a wonderful hotel in a beautiful part of town. The garden out back, the restaurant for dinner, the big eclectic rooms...all provide a level of charm I didn't expect. We had fish and a bottle of wine and all was well prepared and reasonably priced. Breakfast is included and the service was friendly and prompt. Thanks Hotel Du Vin, we'll be back again.

I've eaten here a few times but went again recently for my birthday and sampled the Sunday Brunch menu which was well worth the £19.95. As usual, the service was great, although we did end up waiting a long time for our bill and then to pay which was a bit annoying as I wanted to get on with more birthday fun! We had 4 courses of amazing food, the soup was delicious and perfect for a cold winter day to get started. Then we hit the French Market Table - amazing! The array of food was so tempting and I tried not to go mad (I knew there was still a roast dinner to come!) but wanted to try it all! Lovely fish and shellfish, cold meats including a massive jamon, salads and sauces, cheeses, breads... YUM! You can go up as many time as you like but we resisted to save ourselves for the roast - so glad we did! We didn't think we'd manage dessert but I love creme brulee and it was included anyway. Sadly they had none left so I ended up going for the cheese, I asked for plain oatcakes as I couldn't eat the nutty ones on the plate (allergic) and received the most delcious home-made oatcakes I've ever had!! They were crumbly, thick, melt in the mouth, buttery and went perfectly with the selection of cheeses. I managed to eat all but one and asked for a paper napkin to take it home because I loved them so much and was brought 3 more all wrapped up :) The dining room is of course lovely and staff always friendly. I love going here for special occasions and will definitely take advantage of the brunch menu again - maybe a little later in the day so I'm even hungrier next time! I've been coming to One Devonshire for some six years. Predominantly for business but transposed to pleasure at any opportunity because this is quite simply the finest experience in hotel decadence. Although I'm almost as familiar as the furniture here these days, attention to detail is never spared. I've rarely stayed in the same room twice so I'm qualified when I note that all the rooms are very special, a little chintzy but that works here and they are just simply gorgeous. Attention to detail exudes in every room: Nespresso machines, separate showers, baths as deep as a swimming pool, four poster luxuriously dressed beds, splendidly comfy cosy sofas, glossy magazines, high end toiletries and Bose surround sound DVD player and iPhone sound systems. Venture beyond your room and the indulgence continues: the impeccably attentive staff, quaint whisky room, cosy lounge and bar areas and superb restaurant where an entire separate review would be fully justifiable. Get yourself booked in here for a guaranteed slice of heaven away from home. My favourite Scottish hotel without a doubt. I'd give this a six star if I could!

Absolute luxury. Received a gift of an over night stay here. This was absolutely amazing. My personal favourite was the epic bathroom and dressing room. I had a bathtub that covered both my lady chest and my knees at the same time. Prosecco in the tub. I was in heaven! Staff were so so knowledgable and helpful and location is a must for the west end. Cannot wait to stay here again.

If you come to Glasgow, you really should stay here. The hotel is beautiful. You feel like you are taking a step back in time to the Georgian period. Our room was large and well appointed and the bathroom was lovely, modern and richly appointed. We had dinner at the hotel and it was delicious. The wine was even better. The hotel is in a beautiful older part of Glasgow. The only drawback is the lack of available parking. It took us a while to find a spot, but that would not prevent me from going back!

Went here on a 5pm promotion. It's a bit of a maze make sure you don't enter by the hotel entrance. The staff were friendly and very professional and the decor was great. I had a chicken liver parfait to start which was lovely. My fiance had the mackerel which he loved. For the main course, I had the salmon which was cooked to perfection and came with a lovely basil/olive mashed potato. He had the lamb's liver which he assured me was lovely it certainly looked it (just wouldn't catch me eating that kind of thing!). The sides were extra but the broccolli with hollandaise and almonds was well worth it. The carafe of wine was enough for a large glass each and was very palatable. Will definitely be back!

Came here as a +1 for the Yelp Christmas tasting menu. First impressions were very good, the hotel itself is beautiful (although not particularly east to get to by car!), and the interior is very tastefully decorated. Unfortunately designated driver for the evening so couldn't take advantage of the free-flowing wine on offer, but the food was nice - nothing which was particularly spine-tinglingly great, but tasty enough. Ridiculously expensive however, particularly for the 'festive menu's', and in general not a place I am likely to return to unless I find a large bag of money ...

good food not great but above average. I would give it a 7.5 on my personal rating. Duck confit was not bad but had no skin and skin on a duck is the best part to me. Nice attmosphere, serivce was average. I guess for Glasgow it is pretty good. We ate at Gamba and would say that is an 8.5 so this is one decent restaurant but not at Gamba's category but still not bad just not great.

Great service, atmosphere and food. No complaints at our table. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the old world atmosphere too. I had the beef - and it was melt in your mouth delicious.

Had dinner there last night!!! I have been before for food and loved it!!! The menu was good and the service was amazing! Our waitress was very nice and knowledgable, she answered our questions on the menu with ease. I will def be back!!!
