Google
A cozy, extremely authentic bistro - the chef didn't come back from holiday, so the owner cooked, served and tended bar. And still gave better service than in 90% of other Parisian restaurants and cafes. He seemed to be good friends with everyone in the place. A gem very near the Latin quarter. Would have been 5 stars but my food was a little overcooked. Highly recommend this for a a taste of Paris like a local.

A warm and welcoming place to eat. Food was very fresh tasty and fulfilling. I would recommend this local neighbourhood Bistro to vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The host was friendly and made Non French speaking guests welcome.

My wife and I stumbled across this bistro one evening last week after eating at some other cafes and loved it! Went back a couple times in a week! Good food, great atmosphere and fun people. Our only disappointment was it being closed Saturday and Sunday the days before we left.

Super neighborhood restaurant. Food isn't fancy but very fresh and authentic. Many choices for vegetarians as well as carnivores. Friendly service and very reasonably priced. Will definitely return.

SO POPULAR, cafe Bistro Ernest on the Left Bank has spillover customers willingly taking their espresso in an empty parking slot .... Take that Starbucks!

This is an incredible small bistro with a very friendly and fun owner that serves great vegetarian and special (non-veggie) dishes! Excellent place!

Yelp
Returned for more of the same great food and incredible people. This time we started with drinks at the small bar and ended up meeting more locals. They were very accommodating as it was crowded (Saturday night) and we came late. After some interesting discussion with the people we sat near, we enjoyed our dinner. The menu is still hand written on the board as they only serve what is fresh that day. We enjoyed the Onglet De Beouf. Was prepared perfectly and served to order. The wine selection is still varied and will satisfy any taste. I cannot recommend this Bistro enough. Thibault is truly a special host and the locals really do make you feel at home. Do yourself a favor and take time to visit. Tell then i sent you. LOL.

Yelp
Probably my favorite dining experience during my recent trip to Paris!! As vegetarians with little experience with French, my sister and I were worried about eating much more than baguettes and jam (not that there's anything wrong with that) in France, but Bistro Ernest exceeded our expectations!! Our waiter was all too patient with us not speaking french and the food was AMAZING (got the vegetarian lasagna and the vegetarian plate!). Delicious, hearty, and healthy. Incredible wine and complimentary bread really made the evening!! And the atmosphere is great-- small, cozy, quaint with great music-- everything you'd want for a lovely meal in Paris!!

Yelp
After searching for the right cafe to have a wine and a snack, we found Bistro Ernest! What a true gem of a bistro! Perfect French atmosphere with lovely music. We shared two entrees: herring on salad and the mozzarella and tomatoes. Both were excellent! A half carafe of rose and scrumptious baguette with truffle oil made it even better! Spent the evening talking with the owner, Thibeault, the chef, and several locals! They were friendly and made us feel right at home! We will have to return to try more of their food, it all looked amazing. Lovely ambiance and great wine!

Yelp
I understand people are charmed by this cute, tiny place with character and very affable service, I was too, but food is not good and overpriced for what it is. I had vegetarian lasagna that some reviewed on other sites as fresh and excellent- it was burnt or dried out on top and very dry, zero taste. We also had steak, which was very very tough and bad quality meat. I simply could not chew threw it so I had to spit it out into a napkin and give the rest to my husband. I asked for the steak to be a medium to medium rare, it was served well done. We also had penne pasta with mushrooms, it was ok. Everything lacked taste. We had creme brûlée, it was very good but the top was char black, not to my liking. We ate everything because we were starving. The best part was the baguette served with dinner. (-:

Yelp
This bistro is very well reviewed on Yelp and elsewhere, but sadly we did not have the same experience. The service was reasonably friendly and the ambiance decent, but we found the vegetarian options to be unimaginative and bland. (We are actually vegan, so admittedly that further limited our options.) I wish we had gone instead to one of the more popular restaurants in the neighborhood and made do with a salad instead for our one night in Paris.

Yelp
The best neighborhood, local petit bistro in the 6th!! The owner is great, speaks English! Great spot for afternoon wine and the food is great!

Yelp
Stopped here after a visit to the Louvre. Wonderful vegetarian cuisine. I had assiette vegetarian consisting of a green salad, lentils in a mild curry sauce, warm sweet potato, quinoa and delicious tomatoes and avocado. They also serve meet dishes which I didn't try.

Yelp
Delicious salads and vegetarian lasagna. Non-vegetarian food also served. Fairly priced and very friendly owner who speaks French and English. Entertaining local crowd too! Only four tables, so a very intimate setting. The owner also has a delicious cheese shop at 38 Rue St Louis en L'Ile on the Ile St. Louis. Where you MUST have the truffle cheese!

Yelp
Nice food. Friendly staff. They speak more English than kindergarten French so no problem. The omelette was good but not great. I make great at home so maybe I expect more. The cheese plate was very good. Local shop supplies cheese. Vegetarian lasagna was very good. My wife loves peas so bonus, it had peas in it.
