Bistro Este

We had dinner here on Friday night as a party of 5. It is the best meal I have had out in a very long time. The food was absolutely excellent - I had the Korean chicken bao to start, followed by pork cheeks and the white chocolate and raspberry creme brulee. All 5 thought their meals were fantastic. The staff were excellent and really helpful. Drinks were really nice and the bill was very reasonable given the quality of the food. Can't wait to go back!

The food and service were great, but the table (and pepper mill) were... sticky. Not the best thing, especially during a pandemic. Still a good place for dinner though!

First visit, top class food. Beef bourguignon packed with flavour and the pan fried chicken was the same. Well worth the price paid. Nice chilled atmosphere and good service. Shall definitely return.

The best restaurant in East Belfast! Diane is amazing! Such great service! We have been 3 times now and never been disappointed. This is fine dining at its best but it’s pretty reasonable. My mum, partner and I went on New Years Eve and had a supervisor dining experience. The food was A* and they were very accommodating for dietary requirements. The Chilli Beef starter is to die for! Would love it for a main. Thanks to Diane and the team! They made our New Years with a lovely glass of Champagne 🥂🍾

Make a point of going to Bistro Este every time I'm back in Belfast. Excellent food, service and chilled atmosphere. Hadn't realised they do an early bird special, but chicken liver parfait, venison bolognese and an affogato for £25 was stunning value. Highly recommend

Always love coming back to Bistro Este. Welcomed with a big smile, food consistently fabulous. No rush to leave which I find a welcome bonus at the moment.

Este Bistro has a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Nice jazz music playing in the background, decor is stylish and comfortable and service is very good. The food I had was lovely, well presented and fresh produce but, for me, it had too much salt in it, this spoilt the flavour which otherwise would have been an excellent meal. Please reduce the amount of SALT used Este Bistro! The table top had a stickiness to it which also had a bit of a rank smell that was off-putting. I’m not sure if they’re being wiped with a clean cloth or it’s the varnish on the top giving off a smell but the restaurant needs to be aware of this and make changes. However, if they make these small changes it will be a top notch restaurant and I hope they do because there are so many positives with it.

Had a lovely dinner here at Christmas and was so looking forward to taking my husband. But I was really disappointed today. 40 minute wait and my chicken supreme was very disappointing. Huge burnt Yorkshire pudding and over cooked rock hard roast potatoes. Chicken was nice if a little skimped 😔

This place was absolutely amazing. The food is entirely fresh, the taste and flavor was clean (like thoughtful and precise), and the server (Matt) was so helpful and sweet. Great place, great staff, quality food. 5 stars no doubt.

Since moving up to Ballyhackamore from the bottom of the Newtownards road, Bistro Este has been transformed from somewhere you go for a brilliant sausage bap to somewhere you go for a lovely bistro dinner. Priding themselves on using quality local ingredients, the food is filled with flavour and plated with care. Having dined there with a pretty picky bunch, everyone loved it, and the staff were wonderful, surprisingly not chasing us out with a broom as we were so relaxed (probably due to the pretty reasonably priced wine) we may have overstayed our welcome! It can be pretty busy at the weekend so I would advise you book. While there are plenty of options in the area, I'd say it's the best bistro in Ballyhack.

We had such a great dinner here, starting with a limoncello fizz, which was delicious! We shared a really tasty deep fried beef starter, which came on a bed of fresh salad dressed with a lovely dressing. For mains we had turbot (excellent) and crab, crayfish & lobster linguini in a Thermidor sauce (very tasty but the pasta was more like noodles). We finished up with a raspberry and white chocolate creme brûlée, which was excellent. The staff were friendly, the drinks & food menu interesting & unique and the restaurant itself had a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. We'll be back

I've had a few fantastic meals in Bistro Este but unfortunately the last one was so disappointing that I won't be back. Around 10 of us went last Sunday for a family party. The starters were ok but nothing remarkable but the main meals were a bit of a disaster. Several of us had roast beef. The meat itself was good but the sides were disgusting. We watched the chefs put the Yorkshire puddings on our plates under the heat lamp a good 20 minutes before the meals were served and when they arrived they were dry and inedible. The gravy was very strangely seasoned with something like 5 spice and the rest of the veg was either over or under cooked. The crab linguini was tasty but had very very little crab. The worst meal of the night was a moroccan chickpea stew with roast cauliflower - as lovers of North African, middle eastern and Persian food it wasn't that these flavours were alien it was just an extremely badly made dish that was as bitter as we were for having to pay for such rubbish. The waitress clearly saw that the food was poor quality as a lot of it went back uneaten yet she didn't once ask if everything was the ok. My brother was embarrassed so we didn't want to cause a scene and complain at the restaurant but we would have said that we weren't happy if we had been asked. Perhaps they have junior chefs on a Sunday who aren't used to catering for large parties - if they said this we would have understood and told them just to serve the meals as they were ready and not try to keep them all warm under the lamps. As for the chickpea stew - if you want to keep serving this kind of thing I suggest a visit to Ottolenghi to taste how it should be done.
