I love good food, I understand wine. But I do not understand the modus operandi of this restaurant. Here is a short wrap up of our experience in this very special restaurant in Knokke:
Ambiente: modern, beuatiful lighting, a bit too busy but ok
Order: 1 menu (3 courses: bisque de hommard, sole et dessert) 49 Euro, 2 sole 47 Euro, 2 chiuldrens menu, water, bottle of champagne and drinks for the kids.
Amuse-Gueule: none.
Le bisque de hommard: boring taste, ok but the bad thing: a sharp piece of plastic in the bisque cut into my tongue. The bisque went back into the kitchen... with just a little "we are sorry" and "do you want another one?" the restaurant wanted to solve the issue. But obviously I did not want anymore bisque from that kitchen...
Sole: that was ok for all of us. Surely not perfect but really ok. It was accompanied with some french fries (moderate quality) and some crudely-served salade (not seen on th photo). Sole is expensive - I know - but 47 Euro for that still out of range given the overall course.
The children were served cod with french fries. That was really good!
We decided to change the 3 course menu to 1 sole (having in mind the bad bisque and by waiving the dessert). And now things went really strange. The restaurant insisted on paying the FULL price for the menu... Lots of discussions... Damn, really strange. In the end, I said I am just willing to pay all drinks , 3 soles and the children's menu. The team reacted quite aggressive and said that they could not change anymore the bill - what a strange argumentation line... The customer is the fool here. Very sad that we needed to invest our time into these discussions (maybe I should not insist on my principles...). In the end, they gave in. But they haven't understood the matter:
(1) a sharp piece of whatever can really be dangerous
(2) you do not treat guests like this...
Modus operandi: should be 0 stars
Bisque: should be 0 as well due to the plactic piece otherwise 1 for the taste
Sole and children's menu: 3 stars
Total: 2 stars
But definitely NO recommendation at all. It's a pity that something like this is still listed by Michelin.
