French cuisine at its best, without the 24 hour flight to France! Rich, large portions that will leave your belly full if you order an entree, mains and dessert. Every dish we choose was so different and delicious - full of creamy butter and French flair. Loved the French onion soufflé gratin - possibly the best onion dish I’ve ever had. The soufflé was a delight, light and fluffy, and a bit of entertainment as it wobbles on a sea of cheese sauce. Wow! We were so impressed by the chicken liver pate. A generous serving well paired with brioche toast and sweet quince jam. Our other friend had the beef tartare and loved every bite as well. Mains were well portioned. I had the barramundi and it was cooked perfectly. Extra crispy skin and soft fleshy fish. Would have loved a few more vongole. The best part was dessert - the waitress was so kind to ask the kitchen if they could serve the chocolate soufflé even though it has been off the menu for months. Thank you for the show and it was such a treat. Dark chocolate, rich and fluffy all at the same time. Us chocolate lovers were in heaven. I was pleasantly surprised by the Black Forest Bombe Alaska. I’ve had a few Bombe Alaskas in my life but this one had a well balanced taste in every bite - like a delicious Weiss bar but better. Would’ve loved it if it came out lit and on fire at the table - within fire, OH&S regulations of course. So glad to finally dine here and will be back. Thank you also for accommodating an unexpected guest last minute. Fantastic customer service (and beautiful ceiling).

We had a date night here and as always, the food was impeccable. We loved our steaks and the oysters were very fresh. The service from the staff was attentive and will be back.

The food was well portioned and delicious! Highlight dishes were the steak with Paris butter and fries, chicken pate and pear Mille feuille! The best part of the night was our server Jackson was so attentive and went above and beyond - making the birthday dinner very special! Will definitely be back here!! Loved it!

Absolutely outstanding experience at Bistro Moncur! We started with the tuna tartare—fresh, vibrant, and full of flavour—then enjoyed the Sunday roast pork belly, which was perfectly cooked with crisp crackling. The cos lettuce salad with radish and capers was a bright, refreshing side. For dessert, we couldn’t resist the mille-feuille—flaky, creamy, and indulgent—and the Golden Daytime, which was a nostalgic and delicious treat. Drinks were reasonably priced, and the champagne special (2 glasses for $50) was a great bonus. Service was attentive and warm. A perfect Sunday dining experience!

We enjoyed the fab 2-course lunch menu for $65. The french onion souffle was rich and airy, good steak and frites. The star of the show was Charlie Chaplin martini and their martini selection in general. Also loved the madelienes with lemon curd and the mille feuille with pear flavours, really good dessert

Yet again, another enjoyable lunch. This restaurant never disappoints. All credit must go to the chef and his crew in the preparation of the food. Also on an extremely busy day, the wait staff performed with aplomb; and they did so in a courteous and pleasant manner. Overall, eating at this restaurant was a delight from beginning to end. The wonderful cuisine (not to forget the best menu of beers and wines by the glass that I’ve come across), exemplary service, and convivial atmosphere all contributed to a memorable experience.

I have always been aware of this place but have never been. Wow, what have I been missing for so long? From the moment we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by the most welcoming gentleman who attended to us and sorted out or booking, took us to our seats and ensured we were attended to with drinks and menus. The staff could not have been more helpful. They were very well aware of the menu items and could answer any questions relating to the various dishes in a truly professional manner. The selection of dishes is not extensive; however, each dish presented made picking "The One" difficult as everything was so tempting. The onion souffle is something dreams are made of, full of flavor and such a wonderful marriage of taste and texture I wanted more. The pork cutlet was well presented and again, taste and texture were perfect a well-thought-out combination of strong bursts of quality ingredients salty anchovies and sharp capers really excited the pallet with every mouth full.Moving on to the desserts, this sent me into a space where only the immortals should venture. The passionfruit souffle was like nothing I have tried before and a real complement to the Chef. However, the truly standout experience was the apple tart with ginger ice cream. Eating this sent my Epicurean radar into overdrive. I am confident that whoever exhibited this masterpiece will be rewarded in the restaurant of heaven. This will be my new favourite place to eat. All the staff were so nice to deal with and nothing was a trouble. Well done to all.

Yelp
What a surprise. We wanted a late lunch, and arrived about 15 mins before end of service. Our expectations were not high, and the "Fish Of The Day" had a fairly hefty price tag for a pub lunch,($28.00) My friend ordered a burger, and admitted she is not a burger fan ordinarily. The food arrived, and to be honest, it looked pretty basic. My Barramundi looked like it had been over cooked, and was presented on a mountain of french fries, with an uninspired salad beside it. Sue's burger looked like a burger to me, which never excites me. We were wrong. The fish was cooked to perfection, harsh searing on top and bottom, but perfectly flaky, juicy flesh inside. The fries were crisp, the salad was forgettable. Sue claimed that her burger may have been the best she had ever eaten. It's nothing sensational, and I am sure locals would know better spots for the money, but the way that fish was cooked won me. No, I wouldn't go back. Rushed, panicked and neglectful service in an almost empty bar, average decor and feel to the place, but, hey, they can cook fish and burgers.

Yelp
After a late start to the day on my hunt for a Pikachu, we needed some tasty sustenance and a glass of wine, and after passing by a few places, we stumbled upon this little gem. It seemed a little pricey considering it is a pub, but we sat down anyway. I'm not ordinarily a burger person (they're always so hit and miss and I often don't enjoy them) but for some reason I ordered one anyway. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! Simple, but awesome. The beef was cooked perfectly, and just the right combinations of toppings to make it tasty but not overbearing. It might be one of the nicest burgers I've ever eaten. My friend ordered the Barramundi and said it was cooked perfectly. I would definitely pop in here again

Yelp
I recommend checking out this fine dining restaurant. Service was unobtrusive and professional. Salmon entrée was delicious. Friends had soufflé and scallops for entrees and enjoyed them. I had minute steak for main which was tender and juicy. My brother enjoyed his pork chop while 3 others enjoyed the duck. Desserts were splendid. The soufflé was top shelf.

Yelp
Theres only a handfull of places I would go back to again and again and this is definatly one of them. The food is amazing and consistently good. The cheese souffle is a must to have for an entree. The steak frites with cafe de pari butter is to die for. The food is quite rich which is to be expected for French so you can possibly share a souffle, main and sideetc. I have been to many restaurants in Sydney and the food here is better than cafe Sydney, Icebergs and some other well known spots. ITs nice to have a drink at the Woollahra hotel which is next to it before you sit down for dinner.

Yelp
This has to be the best steak restaurant we have been to ages. The food is amazing, decent size servings with great service. Oops did I mention the fries! Perfect. This our favor rite restaurant for date night, the only draw back is parking is sometimes difficult.

Yelp
Amazing downfall of the once great institution. We've dined here for a decade and always loved the simplicity and professionalism ....and the fish special. Now 2013 --owner and executive chef gone, and in my opinion a lot else. A smattering of old staff are left embarrassed serving up on the whole mediocre fair. Maybe it will be a phenoix rising from the ashes, but after my last 2 meals I think not. Sorry.
