Bistro Mornar – Decent Food, But Watch the Bill ⚠️ We had lunch at Bistro Mornar in Rijeka on January 15th, 2026. The food was fine—nothing mind-blowing, but solid. We ordered fried calamari with tartar sauce, spaghetti with pesto and vegetables, black risotto with cuttlefish, and a few drinks. The total came to €72.20, as shown on the itemized receipt. However, the payment experience was disappointing. The restaurant’s receipt clearly states “TIP IS NOT INCLUDED!” and “Usluga nije uključena u cijenu” (service not included in the price). Despite this, when I paid by card, an extra 10%—€7.22—was added without any notice or request. No one asked if I wanted to leave a tip, and I wasn’t informed that it would be charged automatically. The bank receipt confirms the final amount of €79.42. This kind of silent surcharge feels misleading. Tips should be voluntary and transparent—not quietly added without consent. We got a table without booking so fast, the fishes are fresh, all seafoods are delicious. tiramisu was very delicious like in Italy. Main course is expensive and service was excellent. The atmosphere is fantastic and only Greek salad was served with a scrambled feta cheese, I have never seen that, but was good. Thank you!

Great place with food worth the price and has a really nice fisherman village atmosphere. We had a reservation, so we didn't have to wait, but it was particularly crowded in here, so we recommend coming early or reserving a seat. Highly recommend the tiramisu. It was creamy and had a smooth sift base and lots of flavor. It would have been better with a stronger chocolate flavour but it was good for the price. The pesto pasta was delicious, it had a unique taste, fresh tomato's and the pasta wasn't dry, tough or hard, but rather just nice The fish soup was definitely a must try as it had the fresh taste of the fish and the soup was relatively clear without a fishy smell. It had bits or rice and for a soup, it was very filling. The calamari was recommend to us by the waiter and it was served on a huge plate with fries that are warm soft and crispy. This was the star dish for our lunch and it cannot be passed.

The receptionist recommended as a good seafood restaurant. But our experience was even better. Not the food only, but the staff, environment, atmosphere, all five stars! Thank you!

We were half disappointed with the quality of food while prices were higher than most places in the town . Fish soup was served just but warm, but it was re heated, but rice in soup was hard , not cooked enough . Risotto with squid had no flavor and basically missed squid . Pasta with seafood was at least flavorful. Hope they improve it , had to leave food on plate as could not eat

Very central location at the Marina. Food here is very delicious. I loved the fish and stuffed calamari dish. The restaurant can be a bit loud at the outside seating area and if it is a hot summer evening but they make it up for that with food. It is a little more expensive than other places nearby. But overall it was good. Reservation ahead is highly recommended.

Perfect home feel restaurant near sea with long tradition and always fresh fish

Dishes were very delicious and the waiter extreme friendly and polite. Compared to other restaurants in other cities a really good price for good quality of the seafood.
