EXCEPTIONAL COUNTRY BISTRO WORTH A DETOUR If you want a place in the country to stop and have a nice lunch, absolutely delicious food, and a friendly, warm atmosphere, then come here… Formerly La Petite, rarely open, now transformed by new owners, into something warm and welcoming with an extensive menu with high-quality ingredients at an excellent price. It’s their attention to detail. For example, mashed potatoes don’t just have butter; they add garlic and dill, elevating the flavor profile. Boudin noir, a local specialty with a hint of nutmeg and white pepper, adds that little something. The owners offer a great glass of red wine at an incredibly reasonable price, so they know what they’re doing. The decor is charming and eclectic, and the artwork and music make it a magical experience. The great thing is, it’s not trying to be hip or bohemian. It’s just wholly unpretentious, very relaxed, and cozy. So, if you ever imagine going down a country road in France and finding a great Bistrot, this place is for you. It’s southwest of Paris, located on the D938 between Bellême and Mortagne-au-Perche. Take a detour off the autoroute, and then take a walk in the beautiful Bellême forest - secret tip!
