Got in late into Solvang and they were 20 minutes from closing time. But the restaurant was busy and they were welcoming . We ordered Wiener schnitzel and the roast pot with prunes. The food was divine. Cooked with care and to perfection. The red cabbage and the sausage was excellent. I highly recommend this place. Definitely a do over!

Google
It doesn't get any more authentic than the food they serve here. Had the Flaeeskesteg and Wienerschnitzel. We also had the crab cake appetizer and that was very flavorful and full of crab. The pork chop is kinda dry, even with the gravy sauce they put on. The scalloped potatoes were on point and the mashed potato was a little dry as well. The service was very intentive, and they never let my water go down to the bottom.

A nice surprise. Among various restaurants in town, we randomly picked one, and we were in for a good treat. The place is spacious, service was great, and the food was awesome. I've had Danish food before in Copenhaghen, and this place definitely elevate it to another level. The flavor is innovative. Will definitely be back when in town.

Good wings! I know, it's a Danish restaurant, but I really wanted the hot wings. I was not disappointed. The wings were in a traditional hot sauce and the wings were crispy and delicious. Comes with thick carrots and celery sticks and ranch. Loved the thick carrots, so crunchy. The ranch was also tasty. The service was great. The staff are very friendly and well attentive. The atmosphere is Danish cottage cute. Loved the Viking helmet over the restroom doorway.

Authentic Danish place with good food and great service. Best artichoke dip we ever had. Forgot to take picture of it-too busy eating All the other dishes we ordered were delicious cooked to perfection.

I enjoyed the duck, but the cucumber salad and red cabbage were delightful. Surprisingly, I also enjoyed the mash and gravy, even though I usually request no gravy. Dining to classical music and receiving great service was a plus.

Google
This Danish restaurant is known for their lamb and roast duck... Which is excellent but when I am dining alone or with a date.. I order the Hakkebof Med Log with an extra fried egg and a side of pumpernickel bread... They do not have Danish rye bread but their pumpernickel is a great substitute.. they give you a choice of boiled, mashed or roasted potatoes.. if you order the pumpernickel bread choose the roasted potatoes.....COMFORT FOOD!!!! This is a go to restaurant when I am in the area.. When dining by myself I always choose the bar.. You will encounter a local seated next to you and a conversation will immediately ensue.

Yelp
My mother and I took a day trip to Solvang this past weekend! It was really fun despite the long drive and Solvang is adorable. I saw this restaurant while looking around and decided it was the best choice for something my mom may like! I won't lie, seeing the rating on yelp was worrisome but the rating on Google was different. I took my chances after reading them all through. Service - 5/5 Very sweet and friendly people. They're personable and remember things about their customers. We're new but there were two tables near that I could hear this from. They do a good job of letting us know the cheeses that we'd get to sample from the charcuterie board as well. Vibe - 4/5 It's a clean and neat place. The inside is relatively simple and not super decorated but that's fine to me. Sometimes keeping it simple is much better. The music is fun and not too loud and I like the fur? on the chairs for some comfort to the hard chairs. I took a look at their outside seating area in the back while going to the restroom and it was a cute little area! Food - 5/5 I'm a vegetarian so I can only speak on my actual experience with the pasta and charcuterie. Shrimp and Scallop Linguini I got the seafood on the side to let my mom eat it! It was clearly well-cooked and not overdone at all, which is great. Nothing worse than dry shrimp and scallop. The linguini itself was creamy but not overly creamy. The unique and fragrant flavor of the saffron helps offset it and lends a wonderful taste to the sauce. I don't think the tomato adds much except color but it helps it be just a little less creamy! I'm not a big fan of creamy sauces but I didn't mind this one. Charcuterie board Best part of the entire meal :) I didn't eat the meat so I can't comment on the quality but the cheeses were all amazing!! The purple cheese (which I think is lavender?) and the pesto green cheese were flavor blasts and so yummy. I loved them! They let us pair it with sweet grapes, apple slices, candied walnuts, strawberry jam, and olives. The beauty of a board is variety and to be able to make your own fun lil bites. As the woman to the table next to me said "I could eat a charcuterie board every day and not get sick of it." I think this was a good appetizer order. Combination Plate (Mom's review) "I won't lie, when the plate came out I was judging it for how it looked and assumed it would taste bad or plain. The meatball and sausage were both really good! The most important part of a meat based dish for me is for it to not be dry. That's why I avoided the duck despite it sounding good. The sausage had a nice snap and the brown sauce was a lot more flavorful than I thought! I think the pickled cabbage and cucumber salad sides were great because it helped me not feel tired of the heavier parts of the plate. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy! The more addicting part of the meal." The combo plate was so good that my mom took the leftovers home and ate everything up. She normally does not do this because she has a hard time eating leftovers so that says a lot! We definitely want to make another trip to Solvang and will definitely stop by this restaurant again.

Yelp
Stopped by on a whim because most of the restaurants in the area were unwilling/unable to accommodate a large group (7 adults and 4 babies). We stumbled across this restaurant while walking around and they were able to seat us on the patio (which is a covered outdoor space). Honestly, the food was pretty decent. I wasn't expecting much because of the lukewarm reviews, and nothing really spoke to me as I looked over the menu. But I decided to share the Grilled Chicken Club (with a side of Caesar salad) and the Bit O' Burger (with a side of sweet potato fries). Both were surprisingly better than I expected. The burger - which we got medium rare - was juicy and good. The sweet potato fries tasted great, although I wish they were a little crispier. What really stood out was the service. All the servers were so kind, and they checked up on our party regularly. They came by often, asking if we needed any water (with pitchers in hand) or if we needed anything else. They were prompt in bringing out anything we needed, whether that was more utensils or napkins. Would definitely stop by again if I were in the area for the great service and good food!

Yelp
Thankfully we were prepared for slow service. Drinks and ordering food took a while. Food surprisingly came out relatively fast. The roast pork was good but not as tender as I expected. The meatball and sausage was good. The prime rib sandwich was great. And the trio sandwich, while served cold, was delicious too. Decent portion. Just don't expect lightning service. Credit card users are added a 3% surcharge

Yelp
Stopped by this restaurant for my birthday. It was a great choice. Prompt service, very knowledgeable about the food served. We got artichoke dip as an appetizer- it was a great choice. The entrées were phenomenal. I absolutely loved the red cabbage and pickles. I can eat those all day long. And the dessert was awesome! The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars is because they allowed a dog in a stroller into the establishment. This crusty fat white dog was staring at me the entire time and moving around in his stroller. The owner petting it the entire time. Before anyone comes @ me. I'm a huge dog lover. What I don't like are people who abuse the system calling their dogs "service dogs" when they are far from it. They ruin it for the people who actually NEED a service animal. Service dogs are the only dogs that should be allowed in establishments as they are TASK TRAINED to help their owners with disabilities, whether it's a physical disability or an invisible disability. They should be focused on their owner, and probably not be a visually impaired dog staring off into space or staring at someone's food. And just to be clear, an emotional support animal does not have the same rights or protection as a service dog. I wish establishments were brave enough to ask the TWO questions that are LEGAL to ask. 1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? 2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform? If it weren't for that, I would have had a great time!

Yelp
My low rating has a couple of factors to it but first is definitely is the cleanliness level. The women's bathroom was gross. There was poop on the toilet and blood on the floor. It was so awful. I went once when we got there and once after our meal (about 1.5 hours later) and it was still dirty. We got appetizers and had to ask for small plates to share. The small plates were dirty. 2 of them were covered in ketchup. Next, we ordered 3 things. Food was very bland and nothing I would ever miss. Even the French fries were just super basic and plain. The waiter also brought out the wrong order. With the long wait that it takes to receive your food to begin with this was not great and we ended up just sticking with the mistake order to save time. The red beer which they're known for on tap was really good but only 2 of us could get them bc they ran out after that. Overall, don't go. It's over priced bland food. They ran out of the few things they have. And it is dirty. If you come here I'd only go for a beer. Also service sucks, no personality and everyone seems irritated upon arrival. I get it's a busy time but customer service needs to improve. Also zero decor going on. Outside back area is better than inside but still super basic. Very disappointing. If you're going to ignore my review and go here anyways make a reservation, they don't take kindly to walk ins.

Yelp
Best Espresso Martini I've ever had. Julie is an amazing bartender! The food is also fantastic! Definitely coming back and spreading the word to this amazing gem! Thank you

Yelp
This was a tough review to write. I really wanted to like this place. It has a lot going for it. I liked the ambience and the great service. I would come back, but I wouldn't order the roast duck again. I order duck whenever it's offered, so I know the dish and its varieties well. What I was served tasted like chicken, not duck. Can I say for certain it was chicken and not duck? No, but it sure tasted like chicken to me. Also, the plate came out pretty fast for roast duck. Prepared to order? Perhaps not, but I can't say for sure.

Yelp
I am so glad I ordered the duck. Everything about it was delicious. My table also had the rack of lamb, shrimp and scallop pasta and wine. Everyone was very satisfied and happy.

Yelp
What a find! The outside of the restaurant is beautiful. The service was absolutely phenomenal! There were 3 different staff members constantly filling up water, taking dishes and asking if we needed anything. My husband enjoyed everything we ordered! Definitely recommend this lovely restaurant!

Yelp
We came here off of a recommendation, but I noticed for a Saturday night it wasn't busy. Although the service was good, the food was just okay. The portions and taste just didn't justify the price.

Yelp
This place is beautiful. We ordered their chicken Marsala and thepork roast and it was delicious. Although the pork roast is different than what I expected and it' was a little too hard, it was still good but their Marsala is the best! It was so tasty and delicious. I wished I ordered it for myself too.

Yelp
Came as a big group for my besties birthday. It was fairly easy to get a reservation for lunch on a Friday. And the man who answered my call was very nice and accommodating. We had to sit outside since I brought my dog along, so sadly had to have the group sit out in a hotbox of a patio. The waiter gave us free rein to open the windows, anything to keep us cool, as all there were are ceiling fans at full blast. We were the only group crazy enough to sit outside in 85-90 degree weather! Wait staff was as good as to be expected. The food was good, only I found it to be pricey for the area in comparison to other restaurants nearby. I ordered an open faced danish meatball sandwich, comprised of meatballs (sliced thin) pickled cucumbers and stewed cabbage on pumpernickel. It was surprisingly good! My hubby ordered the monte cristo, and boy that was probably the best thing on their menu. Perfectly crisp with a hint of sweetness, cheesy and meaty with the ham inside. My bestie ordered their New York steak entree. Can't speak for her, but she said it was a bit tough for medium rare. The mash potato was good no salt so the gravy was the perfect touch. Not fond of the big slices of onions on top of the steak. However, the veggies were delicious and tender. If we were to ever visit again, I'll be sure to sit inside!

Yelp
We came to Bit O'Denmark several times throughout the day. First to try to get a reservation for dinner, and were told they don't do reservations and we needed to "get on the list". Then we came back later, put our names "on the list", then waited. Came back a third time and were seated. The first host we dealt with was very friendly. Our server was also friendly, if not a bit inattentive. The food was good. My wife had the Danish meatballs and I had the rack of lamb. Both quite tasty. Now to the things that bring this review down. First, and a little disappointing, there wasn't anything Danish about this place (other than some authentic Danish food dishes). There was no Danish decor, the decor was generic, the wait staff was dressed all in black. This place looked more like it was trying to be a hip cafe/wine bar than a Danish restaurant in a Danish tourist town. Second, and the star of this review, was a woman who appeared halfway through our dinner. She was either the owner or the manager, she was dressed more casually than the other team members (leading me to believe a "higher up") with clear rimmed glasses. This woman was incredibly rude and abrasive to people that were coming in to put their names "on the list" (which we've established earlier is the proper protocol). Below are just a few highlights to how unbelievable this person was. First, she wouldn't even greet people when they came up to the counter, just telling them, "there's a wait." When people asked how long she would openly grumble about the customers currently eating. At one point she loudly stated, "The problem is people just aren't leaving!" As she was trying to dissuade someone from adding their name to the list. Which was followed with, "Tables are not getting up fast." There were several times throughout the night that she lamented how late they were going to have to be there, and lamenting that they weren't closed "all week". She loudly talked about us specifically on multiple occasions. Telling the wait staff to "check on us" and not in a "see if they need anything kind of way". One time she walked by our table looking over our meals and then immediately walked back and told our server to "see if they are ready for the check" loud enough that we could hear her. Also, during our meal she told 6 different people to go to Craft House. Which was "a much bigger restaurant" and "just down the street" (according to her). At one point she rudely told a customer, "You know, we're not the only restaurant in town!" For a restaurant in a town whose entire economy is based around tourism, this person seriously does not get it. It really seemed like she was annoyed that people wanted to eat at the restaurant and was doing everything she could do to dissuade them from eating there. She certainly made us feel unwelcome and definitely gave the impression that we were not welcome to sit and enjoy our meal and our evening out. But what do I know? Maybe they're so successful that she can turn all the customers away that she wants. I don't think we'll come back the next time we're in Solvang. Maybe we'll go to the Craft House, which will be 7 customers she sent their way.

Silvia P.

Yelp
We were on our way home from San Francisco and decided to stop by to eat in Solvang. This is a very cute Danish town and we decided to eat at this restaurant. The staff is friendly and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.

Yelp
Growing up in a Danish household, we often would enjoy the food from my Grandmother (no one cooks better than Bestemor). My father was born and raised in Denmark. Every Christmas we would have the real deal of authentic Danish Foods. I am now carrying on our Danish traditions in my own family. Our first stop here in Solvang, which there will be others, was Bit O' Denmark. Walking in we were asked if we had a reservation. I didn't know this was a requirement, so you may want to call before you head over. We waited a few minutes as there was plenty of seating when we came. I could imagine that weekends or special events, a reservation would be needed. Better to call and confirm. I ordered the traditional meal. They even noted that my pronunciation of the food was authentic. The food was presented wonderfully. The Cucumber salad was nearly identical to what we make. The Pork Roast didn't have the "crispy" skin like it should have, but tasted great. I think the red cabbage was a little on the dull side of flavor, but still good. The frikadeller and medisterpølse didn't meet the expectations as I was expecting. It is hard to really compare "restaurant" cooking with "home cooked" meals that Bestemor made. Overall this is good. Recommended?? It's not grandma's but still good. Again, this is tough to rate growing up in a Danish household and having the real deal in Denmark. For Solvang, its a solid 3.75 out of 5. Our bill for these 2 plates was about $63 with out the tip. I'd like to see more authentic meals/foods on the menu.

Suzanne L.

Yelp
Enjoying Solvang on a summer day. Chose Bit O'Denmark when we saw they had a Monte Cristo Sandwich as one of their specialties! It did not disappoint! Fabulously delicious! Our server, Melissa, served with grace, joy and excellence. Smooth jazz added to the laid back ambiance and completed a very enjoyable lunch!

Yelp
A great place to eat at. The decor of the outside and inside really screams Denmark. We had a large group (8 people) and 2 puppies and were seated very promptly (time: Sunday afternoon). Of course there will be Entrees from Denmark.. but if that's not your cup of tea, there are other entrees to choose from. I had the combination plate and it was very well made. The purple cabbage has a sweet vinaigrette taste to it. The meat patty actually has a sausage taste and texture to it.. meaning if you slice the sausage and patty together.. I wouldn't be able to taste it apart. Each item on the food goes so well together. Only complaint was our food arrived a little slower than usual.. but it could be because we were a big group. My group enjoyed our food here and I highly recommend this restaurant if you ever visit Solvang.

Yelp
I am sorry to say this but the food was just too plain. Servers were polite and attentive, the ambience was ok too, but the food... just didn't do it for me.

Yelp
Overall is a great place to eat. Service was good and quick. Had the Flaeskesteg and French Onion soup. Flaeskesteg with red cabbage, cucumber salad and mashed potatoes was really good. I'd come back and have it again. French onion soup was more of an onion soup. It was good i was just expecting something different. Environment is nice and not your run-of-the-mill restaurant.

Yelp
The food was amazing. I ate the rack of Lamb, cooked perfectly. Staff were great and attentive.

Yelp
Incredible MONTE CRISTO SANDWICH today. Good service. We'll be back!! Open for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
Cool Danish food; definitely try it out! The sandwich was sweet and fresh at the same time, which was interesting bc I've never had sandwich like that before. The waitress was really nice and she was chatting with one of the customers and I was in awe of her professionalism (the restaurant wasn't too busy so she had a short but friendly convo).

Yelp
We made a grave mistake and assumed that Solvang was going to be nice and quiet before Christmas and we were so flipping wrong. The streets were packed, every restaurant was busy and we happened upon Bit O Denmark. After a 45 minute wait (and a visit to high roller tiki) we were ready to have a great dinner. This restaurant was perfect for our brief Christmas time trip to Solvang. It was totally cozy and inviting in the inside. After taking some time to admore the ambiance of the place, we were starving and ready to get some grub. To start we had some yummy bread and butter and a few beers. Next we ordered the Veal and Lamb. Both were great, but I think the winner for us was the lamb. It was beautifully tender with a lovely gravy. The veal was accompanied by a sweet berry sauce which was tasty as well. When the waiter asked us if we wanted dessert, we said "why not" and took a chance on what baby called the "Strawberry pancake balls" super delicious pancake-esque dessert with strawberry sauce, powdered sugar, and whipped cream. It was the perfect ending to our meal! All in all, loved Bit O' Denmark. It was the wonderful little place for our dinner in Solvang.

Yelp
This was mine and my husbands second time visiting Solvang and we realized we had yet to try authentic Danish cuisine. This place was recommended to us by a tour guide on the trolley so we decided to give it a shot despite the ratings online. Atmosphere: looks like a regular restaurant with a few Dutch inspired decor pieces on the walls. Nothing super unique. Service: Everyone working seemed to be a little frantic and on edge. We came on a Sunday night and it didn't seem crazy busy, we were sat within 10 minutes. The servers weren't very knowledgeable of the menu and when asked if they've personally tried some of the items the common answer was no. A more educated staff would've been appreciated, as many people aren't familiar with Danish food and need more than just "most people like it." Food: I apologize for the photos of the food as we had already began eating before I remembered to take a picture. I ordered the Frikadeller open face sandwich. The server told me it would be served cold but the meatballs were warm. Pros: lots of meat and it had good flavor. The cucumber salad was definitely my favorite part, very fresh and bright flavors! The purple cabbage was alright, and the side of potato salad was not really my thing. It was too sweet for my taste. My husband ordered the Flaeskesteg. The pork was pretty dry, the brown sauce helped with that. It definitely could've used more prunes, those were a yummy addition. The applesauce was definitely just Tree Top brand. The potatoes had literally no flavor. They were a creamy potato. Great mouthfeel, bland taste. Again, the cucumber salad was the star of the show and the purple cabbage was just okay. For dessert we ordered the chocolate lava cake. Reminded me of the microwave ones I'd make as a kid. Overall, for the price we paid ($76) it wasn't worth it. Prices were way too high for the taste. The portions were fine, but for that price I'd expect more flavor. A more educated staff and some salt would make this place great. I really want more authentic Danish cuisine experiences in Solvang, because it's such a unique and fun experience. But unfortunately we will not be back here- the prices were too high, staff didn't know what they were talking about, and the taste was lacking.

Chris B.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with the family. Noodles with a jarred sauce for $14 for one kid. Something that they called Fish and Chips for $19 and another $19 for one link of "Danish" sausage and an ice cream scoop of what tasted like half mashed potatoes and half boxed instant potatoes. The service was slow given the price point and the hostess remarked that it was busy despite the restaurant being half empty.

Yelp
Cute place to eat some danish food. I don't know that it's 100% authentic but the food is good! Conveniently located to all of the shops in Solvang. They get busy at dinner so I would make a reservation, we have walked in before also and waited about 20 minutes for a table for 4.

Yelp
While visiting California for the holidays, I took my husband to one of my favorite places in CA , a Dutch town called Solvang! This place is such a gem and visited by so many people year round! It has so much to offer and so much old town/quaint charm! The bakery options are endless and all are so delicious! I've tried a few. We stopped for Brunch at Bit o'Denmark and it was actually my first time! We started with meatballs as our appetizer. For our entrees, I consulted with Yelp. A popular dish based on Yelp reviews was the Monte Cristo sandwich. I usually trust my fellow yelpies and photos! Both looked great so I opted for that! My husband got the dip sandwich and we shared half of each. When I say I was satisfied with my sandwich, that is an understatement! Possibly the best Monte Cristo sandwich I've EVER had! The sweet potato fried were also delicious! I cannot recommend this enough!!! Service was prompt despite how busy/crowded it was! The have various seating areas/room and one out back as well. Ambiance is very homey and serene. Loved the decor and stained glass windows throughout the restaurant!

Yelp
One of the few places left where you can get authentic Scandinavian cuisine. We had the best herring and snaps and danish beer. Our go to whenever we are in Solvang. Great service and ambience.

Yelp
Very good dinner. Excellent flavors and cozy decor. Loved my pink rose on the table! I had the Wienershnitzel, and it was excellent!

Yelp
The atmosphere in the Bit O' Denmark is very pleasant and conducive to a relaxing and enjoyable meal. The main dining room has copper topped tables. Each table displays fresh flowers, which helps to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. Light jazz music was softly playing in the background and added a nice ambiance to the dining experience. Besides the main dining area, there is an adjacent room for large groups and overflow. In the rear of the restaurant, a nice back patio is available for outdoor dining. There is a full service bar in the main dining room. Customers can savor the flavors of authentic American and Danish dishes while enjoying a handcrafted cocktail, local beer, or glass of wine produced in Santa Barbara County. The Seafood Pasta Linguini was a medium-sized, excellent entrée, perfect for lunch; hopefully, the dinner portion would be a little more generous. The Monte Cristo is Bit O' Denmark's house specialty sandwich. I've enjoyed this sandwich several times, and it never fails to please. One has the option of ordering a green salad, fries, or sweet potato fries as a side dish.

Yelp
We had one night in Solvang, and we ate here. We were drawn in by the Monte Cristo sandwiches--not Danish, but they sounded good and it said it was their specialty. The maps of the city made it look like the restaurant was on Park Street, which made it hard to find. We parked in the alley-like Park Street, and went up some stairs where it said "Entrance", and they ushered us in, near the kitchens. The next day we saw that there was signage on Alisal Road, but we hadn't seen it at night. The Monte Cristo sandwiches did not disappoint! I've had them before, elsewhere, and we've made them at home, but these were delectable! There was a lot of cheese, but it wasn't overpowering, a thin amount of ham/turkey, but it all combined into deliciousness, especially with the raspberry jam! Their jam seems lighter than what you buy in the store, and so flavorful! We loved them! The service was very slow when we were there. There are a couple of rooms, and there were a couple semi-large groups, but also many empty tables. We heard the waiter telling another table that was getting very antsy after being there a long while that there was only 1 chef, and a couple of large parties (around 8 - 10 people). We had spilt some water on our table, and asked if we could have it wiped up. They said yes, and never came back. The 2nd time we asked worked. I also asked if I could have a little more jam for my sandwiches, as you dip it in, but I had run out, and that also had to be asked for a 2nd time and took quite a while to get. Definitely they need better back-up for the chef to improve their customer experience. The waiters were not rushing around; there were quite a few other workers there, not seeming pressured. I feel it would have been beneficial if one of the other workers there had stepped in to help prep the food. Service: 2 stars Food/Monte Cristo Sandwich: 5 stars

Yelp
Affordable and tasty. I expected a wider selection of Danish beers, but they only had Carlsberg. Service a little slow

Yelp
Sat down for an early dinner after a long day walking around Solvang. This place opens at noon but the town gets really quiet after 8pm. Starting off my night with an 805 and a hot cup of soup. It's still a bit chilly up here late March, so it feels good to eat hot soup. The staff was very nice and our starting meal was already setting a good tone for the night. Oh man the main meal was salmon for me and pasta for my wife. The portions were just right to have an appetizer and still enjoying the main meal. This helps since leftovers wasn't ideal for our room stay. So best we finished it all. Not over cooked or over powered in flavors. I'd definitely recommend this spot for a nice sit down quieter meal in town. Parking was a breeze a large free public lot is directly across the street. There's two ChargePoint EV chargers in the lot. We took full advantage and topped off our tesla during dinner.

Yelp
Great customer service and very roomy restaurant. Everyone had kids here so we felt more comfortable dining here with our infant. I ordered the NE clam chowder and it was tasty. I also ordered the house favorite Flaeskesteg which is roast pork stuffed with prunes. It came with cabbage, cucumber salad, and mash potatoes with gravy. Absolutely delicious. My husband orders the wienerschnitzel which is breaded veal with capers and anchovies. He chose roasted potatoes. That was really good too. We absolutely enjoyed our meal. The restroom was clean too.

Yelp
Food, service, and ambience is amazing!!! Worth going in my opinion. We can from the Bay Area so we wanted to try this place out and we were not disappointed. **Not pictured was the meatballs we ordered.

Yelp
Don't go by the bad reviews, sometimes you miss out on a great restaurant. We came here when it was slow, so service was phenomenal. I'm Swedish, and can attest to legit Swedish meatballs. Some of the best I've ever tasted. Prime rib french dip was also incredibly tasty. Nice jazz music playing, chill atmosphere. Recommended this place by a local who's been coming here for decades. Would absolutely come here again.

Yelp
Well I've probably been to this place about 5x within the last year and all of the experiences have been good. The food is really good. The ambiance is great. The service is medium to excellent. I'm a real stickler on service and I have not experienced anything negative. If you are a fan of authentic Weinerschnitzel you will find the best one here!! All of the other items were good as well. I'm the pickiest person in the world when it comes to salads of any type and I was impressed with the fresh, crisp greens and the in house, freshly made dressings. Crab cakes were delightful and come garnished with a salad, a mango salsa and a basil vinaigrette. Every time we go to Solvang, this is our favorite place to eat at.

Yelp
Food was good but very overpriced. Service was good. Ambience ok, did not fee like Denmark. Not a favorite of mine.

Yelp
Great food! The cabbage and veggie sides were a great addition to the meat and potatoes! Service is a little slow but it's okay to wind down with dinner. Music and surrounding is nice.

Yelp
You'll find some pretty good Danish food (for a country that is not Denmark) at Bit o' Denmark. I ordered a smørrebrød platter that came with three small pieces of bread topped with frikadeller (Danish meatballs), flæskesteg (roast pork) and havarti cheese, as well as a pickled herring starter that came with three flavors (regular, tomato and curry). The pickled herring was really good, especially the tomato and curry flavored ones. The smørrebrød were decent as well. Portions here are very generous compared to Denmark. I was a bit confused by the bread they served with the pickled herring and smørrebrød - on the menu it was called "pumpernickel" which is a German bread that is not used in Denmark for smørrebrød. I'm not sure if what I received was meant to be pumpernickel or rugbrød (Danish rye bread, which is the stuff you want for smørrebrød), but it wasn't as good as what I've had in Denmark or that I've made at home.

Yelp
It's very delicious. Four dishes are more than enough for five people. The meat is extremely fragrant.

Yelp
No salt, overcooked, inattentive staff (though courteous). I'm sure this place has many tourist to keep them busy but honestly they need to work on the food a bit. And it's not the style of food because I've had my fair share of this style of food in the past and it's typically much tastier. Sorry guys, skip this place.

Yelp
Went with a group of friends, 13 of us I believe. Everyone ordered different meals. I went with the highly yelp recommended monte Christo sandwich. It did not disappoint. Shared a few bites with my table mates and everyone agreed that it was the best thing that they tasted. Service was good, especially considering the size of our party. Meals were reasonably priced and our server gave us individual checks which was fantastic.

Yelp
We had dinner here and the food was excellent! We enjoyed the Monte Cristo Sandwich and the Prune Stuffed Pork Loin. Both were very good with filling portions. Next time I come, I would definitely get the Monte Cristo sandwich again. The service was great; the staff was very friendly. It felt like they get a lot of regulars. Most of the patrons here are a bit older. The atmosphere is cute, and comfortable/ home-y

Yelp
Had to really think on the stars to give this place. If I had to rate it on my first ever Monte Cristo Sando it would be a solid five stars. This is their signature sandwich, and it blew my tastebuds to tastebud heaven with a chorus of singing angels flapping their wings in ecstasy! Yeah, it was really that good. But...the service and wait times were an absolute one star. We arrived before they opened and walked in after they opened the door. We were greeted by a woman mopping the floors that didn't speak English and kept waiving us to different directions so that after a few minutes of confusion we just stood still. A gentleman then appeared and grabbed some menus and seated us in the outside area. We were the only people in the restaurant and it turned into about a two hour dining experience with the long wait for requested water, drink order taking, drink delivery, lunch order taking, lunch delivery, check request, check delivery. Upon finally exiting, we observed only one other occupied table in the large restaurant. Come on folks, you know your operating hours. The cleaning should be finished prior to opening. You cook staff should be set up and ready to fulfill food orders. Maybe we should have had a clue when we were the only diners in the place and service moved at a snails pace. I am happy that I got to finally taste a Monte Cristo, but I was very unhappy about wasting our precious vacation time waiting to receive it. Well, at least now its checked off my bucket list, so no need to aggravate myself to ever dine here again. (The calories in that one sandwich will take the rest of my lifetime to work off! But so worth it!) So if its on your bucket list to eat a great Monte Cristo, do go here, but take into account the poor service issues so you allot enough time in your schedule.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday. Horrible experience. The two older ladies you run the hostess area/restaurants always seem stressed out and are rude. I came here before and the food is great, but the service is really really slow. And when I told the waiter it was my birthday he couldn't care less. I asked him If they do anything for birthdays and indicated that that don't have time for birthdays. Soo rude. I will never come here again and will inform everyone I know. That place has the rudest customer service!!! There are soo many other great restaurants in the area. Waste of time for my birthday and money !

Yelp
Roast pork with prunes and boiled potatoes was amazing! Tastes like you're back in Copenhagen. Very friendly staff as well.
