We had one night in Solvang, and we ate here. We were drawn in by the Monte Cristo sandwiches--not Danish, but they sounded good and it said it was their specialty.
The maps of the city made it look like the restaurant was on Park Street, which made it hard to find. We parked in the alley-like Park Street, and went up some stairs where it said "Entrance", and they ushered us in, near the kitchens. The next day we saw that there was signage on Alisal Road, but we hadn't seen it at night.
The Monte Cristo sandwiches did not disappoint! I've had them before, elsewhere, and we've made them at home, but these were delectable! There was a lot of cheese, but it wasn't overpowering, a thin amount of ham/turkey, but it all combined into deliciousness, especially with the raspberry jam! Their jam seems lighter than what you buy in the store, and so flavorful! We loved them!
The service was very slow when we were there. There are a couple of rooms, and there were a couple semi-large groups, but also many empty tables. We heard the waiter telling another table that was getting very antsy after being there a long while that there was only 1 chef, and a couple of large parties (around 8 - 10 people). We had spilt some water on our table, and asked if we could have it wiped up. They said yes, and never came back. The 2nd time we asked worked. I also asked if I could have a little more jam for my sandwiches, as you dip it in, but I had run out, and that also had to be asked for a 2nd time and took quite a while to get. Definitely they need better back-up for the chef to improve their customer experience. The waiters were not rushing around; there were quite a few other workers there, not seeming pressured. I feel it would have been beneficial if one of the other workers there had stepped in to help prep the food.
