How Rotterdam, Once an Industrial Port Town, Became a Pioneer of Thoughtful Urban Regeneration

"Housed in a former brothel in the M4H area, Bitter specializes in “confusion cuisine,” which translates into playful set menus with scallops made from celeriac and beetroot tarts with tomato and olive caramel."

Great event location but there is one room and the floor is a bit weird to dance on

- I gave five stars for our visit in June 2022 because it was indeed excellent back then - we visited on the re-opening evening, and now I have to change my review to 3 stars because the food was still good, but the service... haha have you ever been to a restaurant where you order a set menu (so you don't know what you'll be getting), and the waitress brings the dish, puts it in the middle of your table (4 people), and cannot tell you who the dish is for? we would be sitting with our questions unanswered - is this from the vegetarian set menu? or the meat set menu? or is this something else that we ordered? what even is this? oh, you're not sure in the end... thanks... and she would just leave us confused, with a plate of nice looking food in the middle, only that we didn't know what it was, or for whom it was... and that, unfortunately, happened with the majority of the dishes. asking in both Dutch and English didn't help. - the service might be better on other evenings when there are fewer people, but how would we know that? don't think we'll be coming back, unfortunately :(

It’s pretty amazing! The restaurant has a casual vibe, but the food is not! They provide high quality and creative dishes in small portions so you can taste many flavors/food. It’s also quite easy to share if you’re here with 2-4 people. Highly recommend! Staffs are super friendly. The entrance is easy to miss so I’d say it’s a hidden gem ;-)

We had an great time at Bitter! The food was amazing, we had the vegan menu and it was delicious with very surprising flavors and food combinations that I've never tried before (they have vegan options for every course and this is awesome). Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. We didn't really know what to expect but we're glad we tried because it was a really nice experience :)

Unexpected experience at Bitter. A very pleasant atmosphere with a sympathetic and professional team. The dishes were not only varied but also really tasteful. The association of different wines was very interesting! Quality / Price = perfect

Surprising flavor combo's in a refreshing laid back setting. Every dish (which is pretty special) was well balanced and had something new to it. Like super creamy crème brulee and foie gras. Great personal service and delicious wines to accompany the great food 🥂 Good to know that the portions are small. We are actually small eaters and 4 courses was just right. If you are a bigger eater, I'd go for 5 or 6. I guess we'll be back for more ✨🙌✨

They sell tickets for the event but still there is a huge line waiting under the pouring rain to get in
