I had a wonderful surprise birthday dinner here, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The service was exceptional, and the staff were warm and attentive throughout the evening. The atmosphere was inviting and vibrant with an incredible variety of delicious dishes. Thank you for making the celebration so special! 🤗

Google
Came in with high expectations. Ended up with the tasting menu. Good variety of dishes with the slow cooked lamb and roast chicken being stand outs with good flavours. The rest was a bit forgettable, especially the desserts. At 79 dollars for the tasting menu, I feel it's a bit overpriced for an experience that is fine but not exceptional.

Google
Food was amazing and service was great, staff were very attentive. I felt that the atmosphere was lacking slightly. The lighting was a bit too bright to match the vibe of the meal, if that makes sense. This didn’t affect our night though, definitely would recommend. Recommend the ribs & halloumi! I loved my coconut and lavender margarita, a flavour I have never tasted before!

We went for Mauritian Nights and the food was BEYOND STELLAR!! Each dish was a delicious journey. We’d never had Mauritian food before then and to say that we were blown away by the mix of complex yet familiar (but not quite) flavours is an understatement. I can’t recommend Mauritian nights, and Bivouac in general, enough. I’ve been dreaming about the curry since we left… would go back in a heartbeat!

Totally loved this place! The food is outstanding, service excellent and the atmosphere very fun and chilled. We just met for drinks and snacks before a show and the staff where very accommodating (in fact, we arrived 10 mins before they were due to open and invited us in to have a drink and wait)…seriously an awesome experience!

Google
Great service, cute place and delicious food. The dishes were all amazing - fantastic produce, beautiful flavours and a hint of creative. Would return any time especially for feed me or early bird. Loved halumi, tacos, duck, cauliflower. Flatbread was good but i prefer more airy bread.

Google
Very yum. The chicken was super tender and juicy and the sauce was smooth. The waiter was very nice and attentive. The flatbread was pretty good flatbread. The lamb chops was well cooked as well. Portion sizes were medium, definitely not small.

We coming to celebrate birthday. Fantastic service, surprised by the taste of the dishes! We go with the recommendations, won’t let you down! Definitely will come back again

Yelp
Great Mediterranean cuisine. Had the "just feed me" tasting menu. Great value. Highlights were very nice halloumi and roast duck. Good experience.

Yelp
Dinner here last night was superb. The best dinner for value I've had in Perth to date. Our server Izzy was so fabulous, helpful, genuine, and energetic that I tipped her (in her sunflower shirt) even though I am ethically opposed to tipping in Australia. But really it was the food. We ordered waaaay too much of it but from start to finish it was exceptional! We divided on the Zorro bottle of Pinot noir. Spicy and perfect for the food here. Paired amazingly with both the fish and the meat. The whiting starter was much larger than anticipated with a phenomenal dukkka crust. Buckwheat tabouli was the perfect side for the goat. Broccolini was delicious but a bit heavy with all of those sesame seeds and and pistachios. I still loved it. The goat: oh my. Fell off the bone. Salty, strong, PHENOMENAL. Fresh herbs and fresh flavours in everything. Oh. Warning. We ordered DOUBLE the food we needed for 2 people. But get the goat. Definitely

Yelp
Holy deliciousness, my old review of this gem is definitely in need of revision! The first time was a so-so salad, which has been completely eclipsed by the rustic Mediterranean eats I had for dinner the other night. The gnocchi - oh my goodness. Soft polenta-like pillows seared on the pan and plated with oozing Italian cheese, wilted kale, blistered cherry tomatoes and sweet currants. Very, very, very, very close to edging Cantina's gnocchi which until Bivouac, I thought was untouchable. We also got stuck into the ham hock and pine nut terrine after eyeing it off at our neighbours table. A very generous helping of terrine with fresh greens, pickled cabbage, red onion and gherkins. So good! A perfect partner for one of the beautiful Spanish and Italian wines they have on offer. Ideal for long friendly catch ups over superb food and fine wine. Just make sure you get down by 6 to guarantee a table. Going back for more, for sure.

Yelp
Best to arrive by 6:15 or after 7:15 to avoid having to wait for a table. What an enjoyable dinner we had. Tables are cramped together, but positive fellow diners, and we got to talk with both sides to share our thoughts on what we were eating. Cool. We started with the whitebait, $10, and while it was very good, it should have been served a little hotter (was it sitting out for 1 minute too long before being served?). I had the goat chops @ $17.50 which were also very good, but not nearly as good as lamb chops. Five chops served. Then we shared the Black Barley, $28, which was our favorite dish of the evening. Wholesome, and very flavorful. The Savoy cabbage, $9 as a side veggie. The least favorite item, while still decent, were the scallops (we ordered without any meat), $29. Wines by the glass are reasonably priced, averaging $11, and by the bottle very reasonably priced. Amazingly, they have a shortage of wine glasses here, and they are on allocation....only one per person, and if you change wines, maybe you'll get a fresh glass. Service was very friendly and helpful, but a little slow, especially toward the end. Overall, a very positive evening, and one of our better meals in Perth.

Yelp
Delicious variety My partner and I have been several times and have always come away happy with the quality and taste. We will off course return again.

Yelp
As part of the fringe festival, bivouac is offering dishes at 90s prices. Get half a pizza, patatas bravas, suzuk sausage for 4.95 each and goat chops for 2.95 each. I ended up getting goat chops and my were they delicious. They came in this sweet spicy sour tomato base. The goat was slightly tough but still tender enough to eat. It had some coriander pesto on top and was infused with so much flavour. Yummo. Cheap as chips goat chops and delicious too.

Yelp
Fantastic food and service. Amazing swordfish with chermoula crust on a bed of roasted potato with a yogurt dressing. Also a tasty cauliflower side.

Yelp
We walked pass this on the weekend and it was chock a block, so we had lunch else where. Having come back on a week day it was much quieter. The service was friendly and attentive. I had a couple of the goat chops. They were absolutely amazing. They were both tender and covered in deliciousness. (Aka Citrus gremolata and pine nuts) I really loved these. I also had the potato bravas. The potatoes were crispy and the coriander dressing and tomato 'sauce' went with the potatoes perfectly. I loved this restaurant and I'll be back soon with friends so I can enjoy more of their gorgeous dishes and works of art.

Yelp
Bivouac has been on my short-list for quite some time now so the first time we had a chance to go out and leave Bubs behind we decided that it was no better time to indulge. Coming through on Sat evening and with it being Valentines Day, the place was full by 6:30pm. Seeing that they don't take reservations for dinner we left our details with the friendly host who estimated that he would have a table for us in half hour. Perfect, as it was ample time to enjoy a cocktail elsewhere whilst taking in the vibe of the city. Low and behold we received our call within the estimated time and we promptly made our way to our much anticipated celebratory dinner. Stepping in felt as if you were entering a warm cosy house with nice ambient lighting and vintage furnishings. Service was prompt and we were taken through some of their popular items. We started off with some Spanish Cava and a Gin & Grapefruit cocktail and opted for the GinGin Goat Chops, pan-fried Gnocchi and jewelled Tabbouleh side. First to arrive was the beautifully spiced Goat Chops, dressed with fig and fennel chutney on a bed of tomato kasundi. Unfortunately our side tabbouleh wasn't ready at the time so we had to admire the chops for while before partaking. With our waiter searching for our side we decided to tuck in as the chops were getting cold. Half way through the chops the side dish finally arrived and lived up to its expectations. Full of flavour, texture and aroma. The Gnocchi arrived shortly afterwards and all I could recall thinking was "Art on a plate worthy for Kings and Queens". It would have perfect if there was a little more Gorgonzola on the plate. A couple of Proseccos later, we managed to finish our mains, savouring each bite without any diminishing effect. We saved some space for the decadent Chocolate, cherry and sesame crisp gelato sandwich with choc hazelnut dust over a couple of piccolos to further fuel our gastronomic journey and it just kept getting better. Loved the way how the lights got dimmer as the night progressed. Looking forward to going back when the menu changes again as I'm sure it'll be yet another mesmerising affair.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place!!! I've been here a few times now and the service has always been fantastic. From the moment you walk in the door, there's always someone to greet you with a friendly welcome and you're soon shown to your seat. The staff certainly know their stuff and are so helpful if you have special dietary requirements. And the food, oh my word!!! My favourites are the gnocci and the grilled haloumi with zucchini pasta, so full of flavour, just delicious! Such a great location too, if you're taking in a show at the State Theatre Centre or Blue Room, it's just around the corner. I'll be going back real soon. :)

Yelp
Bivouac, Bivouac, Bivouac. No matter how many times I read the name and say it outloud, as soon as I'm away from my phone or computer and I try to tell people about my favourite lunch spot in Perth, I end up renaming it baculiform or baedeker or bivious or bletherskate or biverbal or buteonine. (And that last one translates to "of, like or pertaining to buzzards" so let's be happy that's not it.) It often subsequently derails to "you know, the place in Northbridge that starts with a B, has the mossy beards on the wall and serves amazing food." Maybe I should start with that last bit, because it's really all that matters. While Mediterranean-inspired, you'll find everything from ham hock and pine nut terrine with grilled turkish bread to wagyu bresaola, grilled cacciatore sausage and jamon serrano - so it's like a culinary treasure map. The grilled haloumi salad was a stand out on my recent visit and the pizza involving lamb, red peppers, tzatziki and mint was out of this world. Don't worry about what you call it, just worry about how you're going to make a menu decision with all that goodness calling you.

Yelp
I don't throw around 5 stars for the fun of it, so when I do, I'm damn serious about what I write. I visited Bivouac last night upon a very influential suggestion by a fellow yelper. The suggestion went a little something like this: "If I only give you one suggestion, it would be Bivouac on William Street in Northbridge". And who am I to thumb my nose at a statement like that? I thought I'd give it a go being that it was my last night in this lovely city. The restaurant has more of a cafe vibe, and is located in a very unassuming part of the city. In fact, from the outside it looks like an art joint with some tables inside. I shimmied my way up to the bar, where I was greeted by a lovely girl, who turned out to be not only my mixologist for the night, but a really good conversation partner as well. Upon my gut instinct I ordered the scallops and chorizo, and upon her recommendation, the halloumi salad. As I waited for my meal, she whipped me up a Thom yum cocktail, not to be confused with the Thai soup, although, it did mimic many of the flavours with its chilli and cilantro. I love spicy cocktails, and this one had a perfect balance of sweetness to round it out. On to the food, lord where to start? The salad was a familiar mix of arugula, nashi pear, halloumi, hazlenut, pommegranate, and (i want to say) dried blueberries? Perfectly tart and fresh, it was the most amazing accompaniment to its rich counterpart, the scallops and chorizo. Imagine, if you will, perfectly seared bay scallops and cross sections of smoked chorizo (like the legit kind) standing in a row on a rectangular plate in a pool of squid ink sauce and topped with roasted red pepper salsa and fish roe. Et voila! A moment in time where you wish you had happened to be carrying a loaf of bread in your purse to sop up every last drop of that plate. I'm pretty sure I closed my eyes. My mixologist and i chatted about the owners and how they were able to create such a diverse menu. If I remember this correctly, they are an Italian couple who own a farm just outside of Perth and source many of their own ingredients. They enjoy travelling and being inspired by flavours around the world, and have assembled a very talented team of people in the kitchen to make that inspiration come to life. Mad respect. If you have any doubt about eating here, I hope this review really dispels those thoughts. Don't hesitate, just go and enjoy, and if it means taking sandwiches to work for the next couple of days because you blew your weeks dining allowance on this place, trust me, its worth it!

Yelp
After visiting Bivouac a couple of times now its become one of my go to places in Northbridge The food is always bursting full of flavour and presented beautifully. Its the perfect size for sharing and affordable for the quality! Personal recommendations include the Baked Gnocchi - incredibly creamy and indulging (but so worth it) and the grilled haloumi salad, so fresh and tasty! There's lots of seating both in and out of Bivouac and whether your a small or large group they've got you covered! Weekends at Bivouac tend to get crowded so make sure you book or arrive early. I particularly like the artwork at Bivouac, they're always changing it up and showcasing art from local perth artists :-) Overall if your looking for something to eat in Northbridge that's a little upmarket and delicious head to Bivouac Canteen and Bar

Yelp
Bivouac is a military term which means 'to make such an encampment', such a great name for a restaurant! This new addition to the William Street Collective is a breath of fresh dining air. The walls are always adorned with a local artist's latest collection, so you get to stare at something beautiful while waiting for your food. Be warned you may walk out with your bank account being down $400, the art is really good! The wait staff could not be more lovely and are super clued up on pairing your wine with it's culinary partner. The range of liquor is also extensive. The menu is Mediterranean inspired hearty peasant food and changes from day to night. I was delighted to find two of my favourite things - risotto and beetroot being combined in a dish, and was even more delighted when I tasted it! The pappardelle is also fantastic. William Street is fast becoming Perth's worst kept secret, get in quick before everyone knows about it!

Yelp
I finally made it to Bivouac last weekend! And I can't wait to go back! This place is really cool, love the set out, the staff were super helpful and happy to answer our questions as well as make recommendations. The menus is full of fresh seasonal dishes with lots of good choices, it was difficult to make a decision on where to start. They also have an extensive drink list! On the day we were there the vibe was great with awesome tunes being played whilst we were there. For lunch there were 4 of us - to start we shared the mezze board and a serve of the grilled sucuk sausage. We then ordered three dishes also to share; grilled haloumi and zucchini pasta salad, the black barley/winter vegetables and the gnocchi. Everything was great however the stand out for me was the grilled haloumi and zucchini pasta salad and the sucuk sausage (which was served with pickles and citrus for a taste explosion!) All the ingredients are fresh and they are well paired to get the best use out of flavors. I was really impressed with Bivouac and I can't believe I haven't been before. I will definitely be re-visiting this little gem in the coming months!

Yelp
Bivouac has been around for a while now, but they have managed to keep the menu fresh with something to interest almost anyone; they also have a good wine and beer menu to complement. I have spent quite a few leisurely afternoons turn evenings picking small morsels and get recommended accompanying drinks here; which is a nice segue to the staff - in short I have never had bad service here; busy or quite you get great services without ever feeling rushed, for instance you can sit quite all afternoon with a bottle of wine and pizza and you will not be feel rushed out so they can turn over the table! The atmosphere is also great with some interesting art work and occasional guest artist is they is currently; highly recommended.

Yelp
I went to Bivouac with a few friends before a show at the Rechabite. This is one of those restaurant that is fairly unassuming but completely overdelivers. Every dish we ordered was delicious, and even a simple dish like grilled chorizo sausage was elevated from the simple grilled sausage you'll find at many other places. On the downsides, I found the wine list to be a little lacking: most of the wines were either European wines from fairly unknown places or unknown grape varieties, or slightly "uninteresting" Australian wineries. I did though take a bet on a Greek white wine which was very good and good value for money. Nice environment as well, somehow you are in the middle of Northbridge but you feel away from the hustle and bustle .

Yelp
Aside from the fact that I think it's pretty pricey ($50 per person, one drink each, sharing 2 small dishes, a salad and 1 dessert) I found the food to be some of the best in Northbridge. I love the fact that they have a secret menu - we ordered the Pig Cheek dish off that. Pairing pork with honeycomb was just genius. What amazing textures! The haloumi and cauliflower salad was also another standout. Unfortunately, the gnocchi was under seasoned and slightly overcooked - which is a shame as it's $27 (again, pricey for a small sized vegetarian pasta dish) The vibe is beautiful and the staff were ever so friendly. We let them decide on the drinks - the Pinot Noir they brought out was incredibly smooth, which we took to with ease. As was the refreshing Lick Pier ginger beer. All in all, it was a great dinner enjoyed just before the sun set on another busy weekday. What a great place to unwind!

Yelp
BIVOUAAAAAAAAAAAAC! This place is AWESOME. I can't speak more highly of this place, it really nails all components of a great place to hang out, dine, drink and be merry. ++ Food ++ Everything on the menu is fantastic, there are clearly some talented chefs working the kitchen with some exciting food options to share, as well as solo mains. I was here last night, and to paint a picture of what gets me going menu choice wise, I started things off with the charcuterie board which is AMAZING (see my photos, they tell the tale) with a nice mix of quality meets, terrine and pickled vegies, as well as getting the frites with spicey dipping sauce. Oh and the olives!! My GAWWWWWWWWWWWD! The warm, buttery awesomeness of the Persian spiced olives is something you gotta get into your mouth! *NOM NOM NOM*! Then for main straight into goat chop which just needs to be tried, words don't cut it. I'm not a goat fan generally, but this was recommended to me and it didn't disappoint. ++ Drinks ++ The wine menu is small, but has a good solid selection including a good couple of choices of all the main grape varieties. They also stock some interesting beers and do all the usual other stock standard bar offerings. ++ Vibe ++ The vibe of this place is a huge part of why I like it so much. It's warm, inviting, funky, cool, relaxed. There's frequently new interesting artworks on display on the walls which keeps the place constantly evolving from a visual perspective. It's the kind of place you enjoy if you want to have a special meal with a loved one, or a casual fun fuelled dining experience with friends. It's so versatile, which I imagine is why they are always packed and I'm sure doing very well. ++ Cost ++ Cost is MORE than REASONABLE! I think the pricing across their food and drinks menus is really acceptable, it's mid range and great value for money when you consider price against the quality of the food and service you're getting. In summary, big thumbs up and I can't imagine anyone will be disappointed choosing Bivouac to satisfy their need for good food, drink and fun times.

Yelp
After drooling over all the pictures on Instagram for many months I finally tried out this place. I can happily say it lived up to my high expectations! The food is exceptional and I have loved every dish I ordered. My current favourite is the lamb dish. Beautifully marinated lamb, cooked to perfection served with a cabbage salad which was dressed perfectly. The scallops with pork belly is a close second. Again cooked to perfection and served on a bed of cauliflower purée which was so soft, light and creamy that I felt like I was eating a cloud. The service is also amazing. Each dish came out at perfect timing and the staff are so helpful and friendly. I also love the fact they don't take dinner bookings and I can pop down at anytime. This place now takes a spot in my top ten!!!

Yelp
I'd heard good things about this place, so went we walked by at dinner time & we could get a table - we took it. Interesting artwork - green beards are apparently the spirit guardians of the restaurant. An interesting vibe that reminded me of melbourne (though, Perth's bar scene is reminding me a lot of melbourne lately - thank you Small Bar Licences). Overall it was intriguing. We ordered cocktails - mine was served with a sprig of Rosemary that had the life goal of taking out my eye - I quickly de-sprigged. Nice & refreshing grapefruit based option was is stark comparison to the strong and intense sangria choice. The food: what you are all wondering about. The fries, nothing to write home about - and an slightly overpowering bitterness of cinnamon to them. It worked with the condiments but without, well, bad time to be allergic to aioli. The gnocchi - best thing of the night. The share plate between two was perfect although I could definitely eat it myself. I recommend that. The pizza. Well, no. Not so good. In theory it should have been good, all the components were there. Nice base, light pizza sauce, moist chicken, spicy sauce on top, fresh herbs. All great things, independently. Together it was just to much, a melange of flavors that fought for supremacy over each other. We barely ate a slice each. Not because we weren't hungry, because it wasn't good. Mind you, it did mean we saved room for Koko Black.

Yelp
Not great !Little orange cakes amazing! Staff run ragged! Rest of the food we ordered 1 main and two sides, sent back the main as cold, eventually received the main again, then when we had finished they brought out our two sides and then tried to tell us it was grazing plates! Why have mains and sides on the menu if they don't come together! We would certainly have ordered Tapas style dishes if that was the case! The busier it got the more the music increased. Then to top it all we stank of burnt cooking food afterwards as they kitchen can not cope with extracting the smells!!!

Yelp
A very impressive place to have a dinner! Excellent atmosphere and decor with great tables and service. All the servers were prompt and friendly and helpful. Food was divine! Started with the vege Mezze plate that had perfectly grilled halloumi, lovely hummus and great flat bread. Our table of 4 then split two share plates and two smaller plates. The share plates were the calamari which was nice and the gnocchi which was incredible (I could eat 2 whole plates of it myself). The small plates were the sausage which was tasty and fries which were perfect. I'll most definitely be back!

Yelp
This is my favourite place to eat in Perth. I think the most important part of any place is consistency. The service, food, atmosphere and staff are always great. There was a time where I was eating here twice a week. I will suggest the goat chops and the Charcuterie board. All of the food is middle eastern inspired, you can order for yourself or share. I always opt to share as you get to try a range of foods. The Gnochhi is also another great dish. I also love getting pizzas here! I find the food is well balanced and you never walk out feeling bloated. Some dishes are heavy if that's what you are after. The serving sizes are not heavy but just right. Dessert for me isn't something I usually get but every time I have, I was very pleased. The bar is great, it has a good selection of spirits plus the wine list is always good. The cocktails are great and I haven't had one that wasn't made well. I would suggest that this is a perfect spot for a date as the atmosphere is not too loud, its casual while been a bit fancy and the music plays at the right level.

Yelp
Went in for a quick meal before a play at the Heath ledger theatre We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. It was very tasty and satisfying. The serves look small but they are quite filling. Not too pricey by Perth standards but pricey compared to eastern states and overseas restaurants Service was quick and friendly I will go back there for sure

Yelp
Pretty delicious feed here on Saturday night. The service was excellent and attentive and drinks were tasty. I got the flank steak and it was well cooked and seasoned. The gnocchi and ribs were also popular choices on our table. As far as sides go, get the cauliflower. Don't normally like cauliflower but this was excellent. I'll be coming back here.

Yelp
A place we have always found serves up good food and drink is Bivouac, one of the first of the small bars in and around William Street, and heading along for lunch this week, our earlier perceptions were once again confirmed. Eschewing the seats on the footpath on a warmish day we sat inside near the window and set up with a glass of an Argentinian rosé, Las Perdices. Made from Malbec it has a bouquet of strawberries and cherries, with a dash of spice; nicely acidic palate of raspberries; a little mid palate sweetness but finishing dry. Onto the food - Bivouac has a Middle Eastern slant to its offerings - we ordered a dish of Malawach tacos, followed by fried haloumi, and a Freekah salad. The haloumi, nicely crisped skins, with a moist, creamy but chewy interior was accompanied by a sweetish barbeque sauce for dipping - pleasant, simple dish. The tacos - served on the Jewish fried flat bread, malawach - came with three fillings - first off falafel balls with mayo infused with preserved lemon and green herb salsa, which provided a little zesty lift. The falafel were nutty and crunchy and all that you could wish for from this famous snack food. The mayo had a lemony hint and as I said the salsa a nice fresh zing. Roasted pork belly was the mainstay of the second of the tacos - amazingly soft, sweetly flavoured, meltingly tender meat, along with pickled chillis - good chilli boost - and black garlic toum - the garlic sauce found throughout the Middle East - salty, garlicky, with a hint of lemons. Excellent dish. Finally, the third - blackened cauliflower - with its characteristic earthy flavour - served with labneh remoulade - creamy, slightly salty - and sprinkled with dukkah providing a nutty textural contrast. The salad of freekah, orange segments, zucchini, olives, pomegranate seeds, and more was full of refreshing flavours and textures - simply prepared, spot on really. As we worked our way through the food, Lady FWO went for another of the Las Perdices, while I opted for a red - Montepulciano from McLaren Vale's Alpha Box and Dice - this is a medium bodied wine, aromas of plums and a little leafy note; the palate has rhubarb and dark plums flavours, good tannin, and a satisfyingly tart finish. As I said in opening, Bivouac is well worth a visit - excellent Middle Eastern influenced food, very good and well put together wine list, great locale and friendly and efficient waiters. We certainly recommend it.

Yelp
I loved Bivouc's spunk and groove; it typifies just how cool Northbridge is becoming. It is no longer the roughened playground of hardened partygoers but has a number of snappy eateries with their fingers firmly on the pulse. Our waitress was absolutely gorgeous and helped me through my desperately hungry state to see what could be done gluten free. She came up with a variety of options and due to my urgent hunger I pretty much ordered them all. Being a little obsessive with crispy skinned fish this was my immediate first choice. The barramundi had a buttery smooth texture underlying a crunchy, wafer thin layer of seared crispy skin. It was served with a salty, samphire citrus sauce. Alongside the fish was a currant, pine nut, feta and rocket salad with bright little pomegranate seeds dotted in for some tarty sweetness. Amazingly the fried local whitebait with tahini yoghurt could be served gluten free. I rarely have such an opportunity to eat these little guys as they are usually dusted in wheat flour but this time round there was no holding me back. I relished in eating them head and all for the full flavour punch. I can guarantee this is one place we will definitely be returning to.

Yelp
Simple and clean Mediterranean food. Was intro'd to this place by a work colleague. Seems I had absolutely no regrets trying this place out as it surpassed my culinary palette with flying colors. My husband and I ordered several dishes, tapas you could call it. As each plate arrived at our table, our Eyes beamed as though we were already tasting it as it sat on our table! Would definitely recommend if you are in Northbridge seeing a show at the Heath Ledger.

Yelp
Bivouac was my first experience with Northbridge area. While crowded for a Wednesday evening, we luckily scored seats at the bar all the way in the rear of the restaurant. It's a great people-watching spot, if a little stuffy since it's right next to the kitchen. Another positive to bellying up to the bar is the bartender can keep wine in the chiller, perfect for the Margaret River SSB (Semillion-Sauvignon Blanc) consumed. But what's important food. The grilled Sucuk sausage, a spicey, Middle-Eastern spiced beef sausage has sufficient heat to perk your pulse and is paired with a pickled red cabbage to offset it; the only improvement would be to dice the sausage, as pieces had dried out. The Gingin Goat Chops were heaven on a bone! Tender, full-of-flavor, with just a hint of the rich deep, almost gamey goat. The accompanying tomato, fig, and fennel chutney added the right amount of sweetness to an otherwise uber-savory dish. The golden spiced baby calamari have a paper-thin crust Barberry salt, Samphire Salad, Ouzo mayo. The overall winner of the night, a complete and utter darkhorse, the roasted cauliflower and chickpeas, served with Dukkah and Labneh remoulade, both full-of-life, Mediterreanean spice. To finish off, a big slice of crispy, crunchy, dripping with honey baklava is worth it.

Yelp
To put myself and my education on the line, I'll be honest with you. Prior to visiting Bivouac, several snide remarks were stated about who names a store something you can't pronounce. I'd never heard the term "bivouac" before and curiosity hadn't set in yet. Bivouac became the landmark known as "you know the place with the weird name... yeah well it's near that". I suppose the brains behind the restaurant knew the saying, "Any attention is better than no attention at all." Apologies are in order and I curtsy to you. Bivouac, essentially defined as a military makeshift shelter, is anything but makeshift. Hearts and brains clearly went into this little hotpot and on-line presence. At the tail-end of William Street very close to the horseshoe, Bivouac has the amenities and services you are looking for. Various exhibitions line the wall and change accordingly and so does the food. The chef must be an artist himself, as the food was a palette of colors, tastes and textures. The salad burst with flavors of cheese and dried cherries, gnocchi and cauliflower was a startling (good) surprise, and I've never had lamb and tzatziki sauce on a pizza and wondering why until now?!? So, yes, I've been officially schooled by Bivouac. Next time that I'm heading here, I won't run, I'll march. Sir, yes sir!

Yelp
I've been frequenting Bivouac for a few years now and I'm yet to have a disappointing meal. When I'm stuck for an idea of where to go for dinner, Bivouac has never failed me. The menu is seasonal, and although you'll see your favourites re-appear (including pork belly, braised beef cheek, and either baked or pan fried gnocchi), there's always a slightly different twist to the dish when it comes back on the menu. The selection of wines is small but good, but I do wish they had better beers on offer.

Yelp
FringeWorld had arrived at last and the Uber Blonde and I had tickets for the Bakery, so after a delicious palate cleansing ale at Lot 20, we headed for Bivouac. We have been to the Biv at least 20 times but tonight was new on many levels. Firstly the front of house service has elevated significantly and house manager Lauren greeted us like old friends and had us at a table in two minutes - the place was packed but the noise level was nowhere as debilitating as it has been in the past. With a chilled Segura Viudas Cava each we found some fantastic new food on the menu. Their Gingin goat chops are still a timeless item and deservedly so, but we decided on some new fare. The menu here is as varied as it is adventurous - the special of the day was camel steak with all the "fixens". Maybe next time! We kicked off with the Popcorn Polenta ($12) - six fab nuggets of beautiful firm polenta, lightly pan fried and resting on a bowl-lickable dressing of smoked beetroot hummus and tahini yoghurt. Special. Next on deck were the Sticky Chipotle Pepper Lamb Riblets ($25) from the mains list and the Puy Lentil, Roasted Pepper & Spanish Onion salad ($11) from the sides menu. These were easily two of the best dishes we have had here in over a dozen visits. The lamb ribs were perfectly seasoned and absolutely stunning - moist, cooked to perfection and worth fighting over. As good as they were though, I am happy to announce the winner is - envelope please - the Puy Lentil salad! Yes really! When you combine fresh greens, multiple herbs and an unbelievable dressing with Puy Lentils it's usually a recipe for a soggy disaster. Nope. These guys totally nailed it. Here's the key, combine them all - at room temperature - and stand back and wait for the applause. We clapped, well mentally at least. As we decided whether to lick the plates or not, we sipped Venezia's finest Clic Fruliano Bianco. We paused too long and all those fab leftover dressings were swept away by the world's tallest waitress. After actually considering desert, we decided against it and headed off to the Bakery effusively repeating to each other that it was the best meal we had ever been served at Bivouac. It is the best restaurant in Perth.

Yelp
Bivouac rates right up there as one of my fave venues in Perth. Food, service, atmosphere and support to local artists. It's all right in one spot. I've just enjoyed another cracker visit to Bivouac. Get yourself down there. Guaranteed to please. Dyb Dyb Dob.

Yelp
Pretty excellent! :) Giant thumbs up to this cool joint and the person that recommended it to me! This place has a really cool vibe to it, not too loud, not too quiet and perfect for a catch up with a friend... or 6! I'm not one that loves to venture into Northbridge on a Thursday night, but this little spot is just far enough away from all the scuffle areas that I hate. Just near the cultural centre it's a pretty good place to arrange a catch up as parking isn't all to hard nor public transport. Our waitresses were so so lovely! Big wave to Emily who treated us so well and had such a great knowledge about the menu. Be sure to ask about the "Secret Menu" options too! They have some truly great stuff on there! We ate a lot of food for 5 people, and the drinks weren't faulted! Scallop and chorizo pizza with a hazelnut sauce Riblets with orange with a side of lentils and spanish onion Beef cheek Cous cous stuffed crumbed squid Baked gnocchi with truffle oil (MY FAVOURITE DISH!) Assorted meat board Food was really tasty and refreshiong blends of flavours. Be careful of that gnocchi it's quite an intense flavour, its probably a meal best eaten shared. You've got so many options to choose from and don't be afraid to ask the staff what's hot and popular- because more than likely you will love these dishes! I wish I had known about this place sooner- it's a great little place and I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I'm quite the fan of Bivouac. Since they opened they have been a reliable choice for eating in Northbridge any time of the day. Their cocktails are amazing and you should pretty much never pass by their goat chops. It is not really a place to go if you have too big a group of people (especially on the busier nights) since they don't do bookings but it is perfect for a group from 2-6 people. I suggest trying their cocktail 'Gin Soldier' on a sunny Summer afternoon. It isn't currently on the drinks menu but just the other day it was served to me anyhow (and was as delicious as I remember).

Yelp
Had a really awesome meal here recently, a couple of shared plates that we both enjoyed. Service was fab, staff were helpful and it was a hectic fringe evening. I look forward to going back again. Recommended.

Yelp
I'm going to throw a spanner in the works here but I must say I don't love bivouac. I have been here twice now for dinner and, maybe I ordered wrong, but the dishes I received were a bit bland, boring, & overpriced. A lot of my friends love & rave about the place so maybe I should let them order for me next time to see what all the fuss is about. Last time I went I received a bloody mary that was undrinkable, I had it remade & it was just-okay. For the price you are paying you really do expect a lot better. The service is friendly and the restaurant has a lovely fit out with very interesting artworks. It is also in a great location on William street, very central. I will give it another chance one day but for now it just hasn't won me over.

Yelp
We've been in Perth three months now and Bivouac is the best place we have eaten so far. We dined recently on a Friday night as recommended by a colleague. They don't take reservations so diners turn up & wait for a table to become available. We went for a drink nearby and a member of staff called us back after 20 minutes when a table became free. The staff at Bivouac are really enthusiastic and professional, there was a good atmosphere and the restaurant was busy. We ordered the insanely morish braised beef cheek which had so much flavour and fell apart beautifully, and black barley, winter vegetables, fresh herbs, babaganoush, and labneh, which had lots of interesting textures & ingredients and was well presented and tasty, (perfect) Fries on the side, and to finish the delightful chocolate & cardamom tart, turkish delight jewels, & pashma which is one of the most wonderful desserts I have tasted, brimming with explosive flavours and interest, Wow! We were well taken care of at Bivouac and the food is amazing. I really cannot recommend this place enough. :)

Yelp
I visited Bivouac with six friends last night to celebrate my birthday. As they don't take reservations we had to wait a while for a table, but we went for a few drinks at Brass Monkey while we waited so it was fine for us. As there was a mixture of dietary needs we ordered a selection of dishes from the menu and shared. Some of the dishes included: Grilled haloumi, cauliflower 'cous cous' puffed quinoa, barberry, mint, nashi pear with a date and molasses dressing. This was the best salad I have ever tried. The flavours were fantastic together. I would have happily scoffed the whole bowl myself! 12 hr slow cooked pork shoulder - I didn't have this one as I don't eat meat but the rest of the group devoured it with relish. Dukkah crumbed whiting fillets, sour grape and freekah salad. Another fabulous combination of flavours and beautifully cooked fish. Hand cut frites with truffle mayonnaise. The best chips I have had for a very long time and the mayo was fantastic. I found the service delightful. Accommodating, knowledgable, friendly and professional. Everyone serving seemed genuinely enthused about the food and happy to be working there. We had one coeliac friend with us and she was treated with great care and respect and was fully informed of her available choices which did not seem limited in any way. This all meant that there was a positive atmosphere and a relaxed vibe. I would highly recommend Bivouac for food lovers. The chef has a refined palette and an adventurous approach to all of the dishes created. I will undoubtedly be back to sample more of what is on offer. We were also pleasantly surprised by the final bill which seemed entirely reasonable for the culinary experience we all had. Go, you will love it!

Yelp
Rare wet and cold Perth afternoon and found Bivouac for lunch. Good setup, very good service, decent drinks menu and excellent Waygu beef burger. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Excellent meal at the weekend - The grilled Halloumi dish is superb! Wonderful setting, nice wine list and friendly staff. We had a seat up at the cocktail bar which was quite cool. Will have to return to try some more of the menu :)

Yelp
Wow! Who would have thought trying to find somewhere to sit down and eat some food at 9pm on a Wednesday night could be so hard! Thank god for the team at Bivouac who sat us down straight away and laid down a delicious selection of dishes for us. The charcuterie board was awesome, especially the wagyu bresaola and the ham hock terrine. Really good selection of Australian boutique beers and ciders which I can't wait to try more of! Will definitely be back to sample more of the menu and well done for serving food later than all of your neighbours!

Yelp
Ok, so I have been here once before and came back on the weekend with a bunch of friends on a recommendation and I have to say, I was a teensy-bit disappointed. Not anything you could directly shake a fist at, but the overall experience was pretty 'meh'. What saved it, was the food, which was pretty delicious (particularly the zaatar chicken and cous cous salad my friend chose). The young waitress, whilst sweet was pretty vague and often didn't return with our request for more water or the wine list, unless gently prompted, and then was sweet and apologetic. I think the fact that two of the dishes we really wanted to try were already not available...at only 12.30pm... on a saturday was the first real disappointment. Then, and please forgive me, this is a major pet peeve of mine, half the table's food came well before the other half, so much so, that they were almost finished before our meal arrived. I really feel that a restaurant should be able to time their food preparation a little better than that. I can see that other reviews for Bivouac have been pretty stellar, so for that reason I am absolutely more than happy to chalk this one down to an off day for the establishment, but I will reserve my final judgement until next time.

Yelp
I'd heard a lot of hype about Bivouac so i decided to head here with a friend for lunch. The interior is simplistic and casual..think wooden tables, metal bar stools and industrial style pendant lights. The menu, much like the interior is also simplistic and casual, It's not a huge menu, however there are a few different things to choose and try, We started with wine (the cheapest bottle here is $39, it was a Riesling and we really liked it!) My only gripe is that they take the wine away from you and leave it in the fridge, this would be fine if they were a little more attentive on when to re-fill your glass...personally i liked to drink at my own pace and not have someone decide when it's time for me to "have my next glass" I ordered the Mezze platter which was served on a wooden board with grilled haloumi (yummmm but not enough!) figs, lettuce, gherkins, olives, Turkish bread and dip. For $21.50 it wasn't bad however i would have liked some more cheese!!!! My friend ordered the grilled barramundi with chips and salad, the chips looked delish and home-made (still had the skin on) The portions aren't huge, if you have a big appetite you probably won't be that impressed. To finish off we ordered dessert, (all prices at $14) I ordered a peach and lavender dessert that came in a cup, it was creamy and delicious and topped with honeycomb! My friend ordered the mango parfait which she said was lovely, both desserts were quite large. I'd visit again!

Yelp
I love this place and as a Paleo/Primal convert I'm always looking for places whos menu is accomodating without even trying to be, the Bivouac is! I just counted that 70% of the menu (14 of a total of 20 dishes) is all good for primal lovers (albiet with a couple of very minor modifications in 3 cases), so super comfy. Lost of beautiful meats, inventive sides and super fresh bright ingredients. The harissa baby carrots with almond cream where just incredible. Strawberry juice also... Happy, approachable staff, lovely surroundings - it's all roses. Love love.

Yelp
Overall it's the best restraint on Perth. Great food but not an all fancy pants atmosphere. It is a perfect spot to bring a date (or out-of-town guests). The Menu changes somewhat frequently so check it out on their website. The atmosphere reminds me of a small San Francisco eatery. I've eaten here 8+ times and have never been disappointed. HEADS UP: there's no reservations all tables are walk-ins.

Yelp
Really, nice restaurant, cozy and relaxed. This place has the kind of atmosfere of a really cool friends house dinner. Our waiter was a sweat heart, giving tips and helping a lot choosing the perfect combination. It's a bit pricey, by it's worth a visit. We had a really great time there. Nice spanish 750ml beer btw try it. their glasses are also vey pretty.
