Google
Good (not great) beer that's considerably more expensive cans than Limitless Brewing (which offers similar and better beers). Service here was friendly, and the place had a lot of customers--so, it seems many don't share my "meh" perception. If these beers were closer in price to that of their superior competitor, I would frequent this brewery more often as it's closer to where I live than Limitless Brewing. I guess the South Island Triple was the one I liked the best.

Google
This was our favorite brewery in Kansas City. Really great hazy IPAs and a nice patio space, where you can order delicious, hand-delivered pizza from the Plate Restaurant across the street.

Google
This is one of my favorite breweries in KC! The entire staff is as friendly as can be and so thoughtful and helpful when you're indecisive or just want more info about a beer. They lean hard into IPA, but have a nice rotation of Pilsners, stouts, and other beers as well. Every week may bring a new beer or two along but every single variation is phenomenal. Highly recommend this place!! And yes, they are family and pet friendly!

Chris Hickie

Google
Excellent hoppy brews, great service looking forward to coming back

Google
First time here and was on my brewery bucket list. Loved it! The quality of their beer is through the Atmosphere! We brought food and a game in with us and chilled! Can't wait to go back. I shouldn't have waited so long to go there! Cheers guys!

James R

Google
A fine establishment cranking out new, amazing beers, and staff is always friendly and courteous. Their '"Clouds" IPA is among the best I've ever had. Everything about the place is top notch. Cheers 🍻

Google
My beer was great, a very hazy IPA but my wife's fell short. Good place but not one of our tops from our trip to KC

Google
Great little neighborhood brewery. I tried the New England IPA — excellent and full of flavor. The only downside is there is no food.

Yelp
Kansas City might just be one of the most underrated brewery towns in the United States and BKS is one of those reasons why! If you're a touron like myself: this place is far from downtown, but well worth a Lyft from your hotel! This place has the unique ability to brew clear, crisp lagers just as well as they brew cloudy, pillowy IPAs. Either way you can't go wrong. The beers here are creatively designed and technically perfect. The outside patio area is also pretty nice.

Yelp
Hands down, one of the best breweries I have been to, and their Hazy IPAs are some of the best I have ever tasted! Soft, pillowy, juicy....just amazing. Also don't sleep on their Pivo series, some amazing pils and lagers. The taproom is very unassuming at first, but is cozy and comfortable and has a nice outdoor space attached. Staff was so friendly! This will be a must stop anytime I am in KC!

Yelp
I've finally been able to check out this brewery after living near it for 3 years! I happened to drive by while they were having their block party and decided this was the time to try it. We tried 4 of their beers in the smaller sizes and it was under $30 even after tip so that was a huge plus. All of the beers we tried were so good! Our two favs were the Rockhill and Locust and their golden lager they had on tap that day. Definitely have to come back.

Yelp
Somebody once said this was the best brewpub in the world. A bold claim, one I had to investigate for myself. My friend and I found one table available on a busy Friday evening. My first observation was pint glasses filled with the most appealing creamy golden potion, the Space Nelson IPA, which I ordered and found to be intoxicating in more ways than one. I also had a Pilsner which was so delicious it had me raising a toast to the Czech resistance. The smallish tasting room was brightly lit with a variety of seating options and full of interesting people. And dogs, especially a Cavalier King Charles mix that melted my heart with expressive eyes and the sweetest disposition. The servers were all super friendly and enthusiastic, a fine compliment to the magic elixir they served up. So, 5 stars all the way around. Anybody who wants to say this is the world's best brewpub will get no argument from me.

Yelp
Best find of 2023 for me. BKS is the stuff of LEGENDS! Hands down the best brewery in KC, and dare I say world? They single-handedly brought me back to beer and I now don't allow any other beer impurities to enter my body. I want the world to know, I love BKS!
google avatar

Yelp
My fave brewery in kc. They just won a gabf for their English mild which I had for the first time and it was amazing. They usually have several good iPas on tap along with a pils or lager and a stout as well. Can't go wrong with any of their beers and the staff is great also.
google avatar

Colleen L.

Yelp
One of the best breweries in KC! They have lots of hop heavy and delicious beer. Their stouts are also amazing and are some of my favorites. If they have mead, make sure to try that too. Basically, you can't go wrong with anything you order. You can also get beer to go from their expansive cooler. They don't have food but they do sell snacks. And you can bring outside food in. Occasionally they'll have a food truck or a pop up so check out the socials to see what's up before you go if you need to eat. They have a large ish patio with lots of seats in sun or shade. The interior also has quite a bit of seating despite the smaller space.

B M.

Yelp
Killer IPAs - by FAR the finest in KC metro!!! Service bar was efficient, staff was knowledgeable and helped with selections. Great dog friendly outside space too!!
google avatar

Yelp
I am surprised I have yet to add pictures or a review for BKS! This brewery is one of the most popular and best among KC. I have been to almost every brewery in town and BKS is one of the most popular among anyone that you ask that knows their beer. They make killer IPAs and when they have their limited stouts, it's a real treat. The staff has always been courteous countless of times that I have been there. They never rush you and will even let you sample something if you are unsure whether you will like something. The environment is a little tight when it's busy, but it's quaint and cozy. Also on nice days, you'll find their patio packed which I partake in during the spring and summer. The best thing to do is also follow them on social media for new releases since they are always rotating things in and out. It's a great place in a central location so check it out for yourself and let me know what you think!

Yelp
Great little craft brewery with some really flavorful selections. Would be great if they had some snacks or apps to nibble on but still a great stop. Good service and casual atmosphere.

Yelp
We stopped in here on a Friday evening. There were plenty of spaces to sit and they have a nice patio area. I tried the Tumbling Tumbleweed (NEIPA) which was okay. Didn't knock my socks off, but a decent NEIPA. I actually really liked the Winthrope (a stout on nitro) which my wife got. It had a great smoothness to it. I wasn't here long, so we didn't have a chance to sample all the beers on tap. Overall, it's a great little tap room setup and im sure I'll be back. Staff are super friendly too.

Yelp
I had 2 beers, their Pacific Hazy IPA and their Good Afternoon Friend. The Pacific is ok. It's not amazing, but it's good. I wouldn't turn it away but I'm not convinced I'd order it again. The Good Afternoon on the other hand is amazing. It tastes like a German chocolate strawberry cake. Really amazing. Place gets really noisy though. At one point the inside was full and it was so noisy I considered stepping outside but it was really cold that day. I really found the noise level really quite distracting.
google avatar

Mark G.

Yelp
This place has amazing beer! The Piv & Nelson is one of the best I've ever had. The only drawback here is it's small. There's not very many places to sit. Hopefully they have some plans to expand the space because the beer is amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
BKS has maintained a great assortment of their beer selection over the past 9 months. They sellout every Thursday night so be quick on the draw with your purchase. Thanks Mary and gang for keeping the quality and supply rolling to your fans!
google avatar

V. M.

Yelp
I only wish there were tasting notes These are great. Love the one called Rollin' With the Flow. You have to go and try a selection sometime. Can't wait to go back.

Tom H.

Yelp
Best beer in the area! Double Double and triple Indian pale ales are amazing! If you haven't checked out BKS brewery you must Goooooooo!!
google avatar

Jes S.

Yelp
Great little hidden brewery with an awesome patio, ample seating and pizazz! Note: the day we went, 9/10 beers were IPAs, so keep that in mind. Beertenders were friendly and I appreciated the multiple pour size options.
google avatar

Matt C.

Yelp
One of the best brewers in KC! BKS usually has 5-10 beers on tap, with a rotating menu of beers, many of which feature a unique mix of adjuncts. The IPAs, sours, and stouts are the better ones in my experience, but everything is usually pretty tasty. They will often times do limited can releases on weekends if you are able to get there early and snag some. They do have a small selection of snacks but don't have a kitchen for a full menu. They have a nice modern taproom with lots of natural light, as well garage style doors that open up to their patio when it is nice out. Recommend to any craft beer lover!

Alexis D.

Yelp
I've never had a beer I didn't like here. Also I love that dogs are welcome. I wish they had food!!! But the beer is always great and we love BKS Artisan Ales!!!
google avatar

Patrick H.

Yelp
These guys are relatively new and brew some of the best beer in KC. They do a really great job with IPAs and their Counterculture IPA is a great flagship. The service was friendly and they had a lot of canned four-packs to go.

SoCo S.

Yelp
Really good beers. The Holstein is great especially if you like vanilla. It's made with 5 different types. The Modern Lager is also very good. Super smooth. Friendly staff. Laid back vide.

Yelp
We went to BKS on Valentines Day and got their 6 half pours paired with 6 desserts from Heirloom Bakery and Hearth special. While I am usually a fan of IPA's, I was shocked at how good all of BKS' beers were! My favorite 2 were the Vacation Island (Guava Colada), which was a fruity beer that tasted like a pina colada without all the sugar; and the Holstein Stout with cacao and coconut. These are 2 offerings I never would've tried without the special beer/food pairings but they were phenomenal. I want to come back and keep up with their new releases, I just wish they had better hours!
google avatar

Matt K.

Yelp
If I had one knock to give this place, it'd be that they aren't open enough! I believe they've added Friday afternoons, but aside from that, this is a Saturday/Sunday only place. Kind of cramped, but with beer this terrific, it's so worth it! We went on a Sunday afternoon - it was very laid back and chill, and their beer was just great. My wife and I favor sour and tart beers, and they definitely have that going on with their Vacation Island series. Even got a bottle to take home with us! We look forward to seeing what new brews BKS comes up with, and will definitely be back!

Yelp
BS Travel Log - Kansas City: We pulled up to BKS Brewing to find a line around the block waiting for the new Double Dry-hopped New England IPA that was being released, so we jumped in line to join the festivities. Several other breweries named BKS the best brewery in KC, so our expectations were high. We checked untappd and found the hype supported by amazing customer reviews. The interior space was on the smaller side, but absolutely packed with true craft beer lovers! We didn't see a free seat in the house for hours. We picked up their new release to bring back to STL and share with our BeerSauce Shop friends...watch for a special event to be announced! I don't say this very often, but I hope we can partner with BKS to bring more delectable flavors to BeerSauce in the near future. Great job - 5 Stars!

Yelp
Went for the first time a few weekends ago... AMAZING! Excellent selection of Ales. The owner is also the bartender - super friendly and very glad to answer any questions. Excellent prices. The Fleur De Citra was on-point. Love the indoor / outdoor space mix. Super dog-friendly. Kid-friendly. Family-friendly. Awesome vibe to the whole place. Limited hours - make some time and make it happen... this place is the next big destination of Brookside. Definitely will be back!

Dena D.

Yelp
Great selection of beers, but their IPAs sold it for me. I went on thé recommendation of a friend and I was so glad I did. Great patio area, dog friendly, can order pizza from the restaurant across the street. A must visit
google avatar

Daniel B.

Yelp
Great beers in a nice setting. I like that they are "artisan", smaller batch beers in a nice neighborhood setting
google avatar

Mike A.

Yelp
BKS is a cool, smaller microbrewery in the Brookside area. Their beers are small batch, so they rotate often. The flagship brew is Counterculture, an amazing New England style IPA. Hazy & Juicy as can be. One of the best IPAs I have ever had. I typically am not a fan of crowlers and growlers, but if and when they offer this one to go, I'm all in. On my visit, they did not have any sours available, but they do at times. Definitely check it out and try the Counterculture!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped he before dinner. Had a really nice selection of Ales. It was a great location with their own parking structure. gently would come back here again. AAc

Yelp
We mistimed our Uber ride and got to BKS about 20 minutes before they opened on a Saturday afternoon. The fella and I were prepared to pop a squat til 1 pm, but - because they have the nicest staff - they went ahead and poured us a beverage! The very nice staff woman asked where we were from, and then gave us a comprehensive rundown of their tap offerings. Who does that at a normal time, much less before the business is officially open? The even better part is that the beers are deeeelicious. The patio had just reopened post-Covid, so we were incredibly lucky the timing worked out with our out-of-state visit, and the patio was cozy and full of dogs - my favorite. By the time we left around 2:30, the patio was full, so definitely come early!
google avatar

Kim V.

Yelp
BKS Artisan Ales is legit. Open only a couple days a week but worth the wait. Their beers are complex with fantastic flavors. The atmosphere of the tap room is fun, loud, and hip. I would highly recommend checking this place out and enjoying a beer made locally in Brookside.
google avatar

Jacquie K.

Yelp
If BKS isn't in your Saturday Brookside rotation, it will be soon. Great beer, great prices. I tried the Fleur De Citra, a sour saison. I really enjoyed it and would order again. When we visited BKS, it was only open Saturdays 1-5pm, so plan accordingly. The indoor space is small with a few high top tables and stools. The outdoor space has a few picnic tables. They do serve bar bites, including pretzels and jerky. If you're really hungry, you can bring in your own food. Kudos to BKS for adding a local bar/brewery to the Brookside neighborhood. I have no doubt this place will be a success.
google avatar

Will M.

Yelp
Best brewery in KC and one of my favorite in the country. Some of the best NEIPAs you will ever get your hands on. My wife loves their sours and she is not a beer fan. Get their early on can release days if you want to take some home. If you like beer, you have too check this place out!
google avatar

Kc D.

Yelp
One of the better NE IPAs in town. Minus one star as I have six growlers they told me they would take back but now they won't die to covid. They told me they would during covid but I can never get a beer order in before it's sold out as you have like 2 min. to try. Finally got one in, Brost my growlers back like they told me to and they weren't even apologetic. Something tells me they have got a little bit for their britches.
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
BKS is a cool spot in an up and coming Brookside area. The place is always packed and has limited operating hours. Plan to stand and consider yourself lucky to get a seat. However, the beer is worth the standing. Reasonable craft brew prices. They are very busy but work through the line quickly and efficiently. The IPA was great. The Sour Saosin was also very enjoyable. Some beers are available on the go as well. Merch is also available. Definitely a good stop on a Saturday afternoon
google avatar

Katherine J.

Yelp
My neighborhood spot! It's small but what it lacks in space, it makes up for in charm. I had the tropical coffee beer. It was weird...but good. I don't think they are currently doing flights and I can't blame them since they are always packed. Seriously. They are only open Saturdays 1-5 so go when you can! The day I went they also were selling Waldo honey and pretzels with mustard. I'll be back to try more beer. Also looking forward to their expanded space once the upstairs construction is finished.
google avatar

Jamie J.

Yelp
This past weekend was our first time here and I wasn't completely sold on this place. It is small and cozy especially when it's busy which isn't my scene, but being busy is obviously good for them. I think where I struggled is their beer selection even though I know everyone else loves what they have to offer. I realize you can't please everyone's palates but this particular visit was not too pleasing to mine. I will have to make a another visit when they have a different selection to see where my opinion lies. The staff was friendly which is always appreciated.
google avatar

Steve Z.

Yelp
Hands down the best brewery in KC! If you like beer and haven't been here you are failing at life.
google avatar

Anthony B.

Yelp
Hands down the best beer in KC. Limited hours and limited releases. The Robusto and Juices Counterculture are some of my faves.
google avatar

Caleb M.

Yelp
Solid beer and a great space, though small for the amount of attention they attract. They do get sort of one-note with all the IPAs, and I do badly wish they did some more dark stuff, which they do very well when they do it.
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
Love the neighborhood vibe and the exciting beers these guys are putting out. Something for everyone! Classic euro styles, hazy ipa's, clear ipa's, pastry(ish?) stouts, barrel aged sours. Don't miss the hype-y can releases too, by following their social media.
google avatar

Erin F.

Yelp
Friendly, clean, AND great beers!! They have a couple snacks but Flying Horse delivers!
google avatar

Sam P.

Yelp
I just saw a Yelp - best beer patios in KC and BKS wasn't on the list - so that inspired me to go and write a review... THE best beer in town. Great location and nice bar to chill at - highly recommend and yes, they do sell the beer that they brew
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Best brewery in Kansas City. Real friendly and the beers are top notch! I'd give this 6 stars if they were open 7 days a week instead of like 2 days. But that's okay. I love this place and it's definitely my go-to spot on Saturday's.
google avatar

Becky H.

Yelp
FINALLY. Finally, a local brewery has gotten New England IPAs right!! To be fair, I am a native New Englander, and we were regulars at Treehouse Brewery in Massachusetts - THE place to get NEIPAs. When we moved to Kansas City we were excited to see what sort of options were available through the local breweries, but were disappointed to find that not many had IPAs, let alone those yummy, hoppy, hazy NEIPAs we know and love. Well, that's no longer a problem. We discovered BKS Artisan Ales almost by accident - I had never heard of them until we were out and looking for breweries, and I just happened to find their website during a search. We stopped in and were thrilled to see them pouring hazy glasses of goodness. In just a short period of time, they have grown exponentially, and deservedly so - their beers are tasty, and people are taking notice. We don't get to stop in very often just because of their limited hours, but when we do, there's always a line to buy cans to go. There doesn't seem to be a limit on what you can buy which is good, but only if they don't run out before you get to the cashier! So if you do go, plan to stock up (and pony up - the beers aren't cheap). BKS is the midwest's Treehouse, and we could not be happier!

Greg S.

Yelp
Best kept secret in Kansas City. Brian and Mary have created a great neighborhood atmosphere to go with some of the best beer in the city. We host a company event at BKS a couple times a year and our clients are constantly asking when we are going back. It doesn't get any better than this.

Nick J.

Yelp
Great beers! Sampled many and loved them all. This place is great. I wish I could of buy BKS beers near me and I would drink them all the time.

Brock D.

Yelp
So far beers have been good. They need to open. More than just a few hours each week on Saturday. Need tasters or at least a size smaller than full pour. Then my rating would go higher. Having a brewery in Brookside is awesome....when open.

Luke P.

Yelp
Best beer in KC! It's a small space so a wait at the door should be expected, no reason to knock it. Great variety of locally crafted beers.
