Blachford Lodge by Arctic Kingdom

Beautiful place to vacation. Friendly helpful staff, the food is really good too. Lots to enjoy, hiking on trails, skating, cross country skiing, ice fishing, snow mobiling, making ice cream in the snow banks, hot tub felt so good on a super cold day(-32 C) and best of all viewing the northern lights. What a show! A complete arch from one horizon to the other, unreal! Highly recommend going here, it is very peaceful and no light pollution. The bush plane ride in is nice.

We had a wonderful time at Blachford Lodge and recommend it to anyone wanting a winter adventure to see the lights. We were there for 4 nights, 5 days and stayed in the lodge. We were lucky that 2 of the 4 nights we saw the lights and it was outstanding - a bucket list experience for us. Having the "wake up" call in the night was so crucial and exciting! Our days were filled with outdoor activities of hiking and cross country skiing. We loved that the lodge had board games as well! As a vegan - the food was truly outstanding. The chef exceeded my expectations of what I thought would be possible. I was truly blown away by the food. The staff were truly incredible and so kind to us during our stay. this trip and this place is one of my favourite places in our country.

Amazing experience and it exceeded every expectation. The price is worth every cent of the experience and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. The lights, the food, the staff, the location, the activities - everything incredible! Loved experiencing it for Christmas. Go book it, you won’t regret it.

Our experience at Blachford Lake Lodge was incredible. My husband and I came here for a getaway and it was one of the best trips we've ever taken.||We stayed in "The Point" cabin, and it was clean, cozy, and comfortable. A beautiful, secluded retreat amongst the trees, with a stunning view of the lake. At night, the stars were unreal, and of course, seeing the aurora was incredible. | |We loved the food. Absolutely scrumptious. The chef prepared beautiful meals, and I loved dining together with everyone at mealtime. ||During the day, we hiked to scenic overlooks, napped in our comfortable bed, sipped hot cocoa and read books in the lodge, and just generally relaxed. It was such a restful atmosphere. One of the days, we made spruce salve with an indigenous botanist -- SO COOL. Do not miss that little experience. Another day, Drew took us out fishing for pike on the lake. We saw eagles, caught SEVEN fish, and drank hot cocoa that he'd brought for us in a thermos. It was a total blast. We also warmed up in the sauna, and did the jacuzzi under the lights one night. Just unbelievable.||And of course, the main event is the aurora at night, and we lucked out and had an unbelievable experience viewing it. A member of the staff was on hand earlier in the evening to help with camera advice and setup. We got some awesome photos, but it was also SO incredible to see the stark white of the lights with your naked eye. Once we had gotten our fill of photos, the staff built a campfire, and many of the guest convened for conversation, photo sharing, and s'mores! ||I cannot say enough about the staff. From the very moment we reached out to Blachford via email, their warmth and service-oriented attitude was apparent. Every staff member was so kind, and completely ready to help each guest. I don't know that I've been anywhere that matched the service we received here. The bartender Jen made me cups of hand-picked tea, Drew surprised us with hot cocoa on the fishing boat, Sophia gave me HER OWN COAT for the fishing trip when I wasn't sure I'd be warm enough. Every single person went out of their way to make sure each guest had a phenomenal experience. ||Since getting home, we have told every couple we know to go on this trip. It isn't guaranteed that you'll see the lights--the staff doesn't have control over the aurora forecast or the weather -- but honestly, even if we hadn't seen the lights, this trip would've been worth it. It was so relaxing, restful, and beautiful. ||We will be back, and we'll bring friends.

Had an excellent experience viewing the Northern lights in an ideal setting, an isolated northern lake. We stayed in the main lodge and the rooms were spacious and clean, with large windows providing excellent views of the lake during the day, and an easy way to spot the northern lights during the night. The food was excellent, and the staff friendly. There were many activities during the day including hiking trails, ice fishing, and snowmobile trail rides. I highly recommend the trip down to great slave lake to see the ice rifts. An excellent place to photograph northern lights or the night sky in general.

It may be cold outside but inside the cabins and main lodge the warmth surrounds you. The staff is part of that feeling of warmth, they really enjoy sharing this remote piece of Canada. The activities are curated to take advantage of the nature that surrounds you. Amazing food like warm homemade breads, delicious soups and fresh fish. The cocktails are well made and original. I stayed 4 nights and highly recommend this lodge.

What a Canadian gem! The lodge was cozy, clean and comfortable. The staff was exceptionally attuned to the needs of the guests (try northern lights wake-up service!). The chef and kitchen staff cooked 5 star meals. The activities were diverse and fun. For nature-lovers and adventure-seekers: this is for you! We did a family trip (two adults, a toddler and a teenager): we were all extremely pleased with the experience, we had such a good time. We cancelled our trip to the US to invest in our own Canadian economy and we discovered a place we fell in love with! I am so happy with our trip: I highly recommend Blachford Lake lodge.

For a remote location we were so comfortable in our cabins. The staff was incredible and there was so much to do! We saw the Aurora every night and spent the days hiking, cross country skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling and igloo building. Really an amazing trip. Highly recommend.
