"Learn About Garifuna Culture in San Pedro Ambergris Caye may not be the ideal spot to holiday if you want to immerse yourself in the local Garifuna culture; however, the island is not completely devoid of its influence. Head south of San Pedro and stop by the Black and White Garifuna Cultural Center. Opened in 2012, owner Julia Martinez has worked tirelessly to promote and educate visitors on traditional Garifuna culture. Visitors to Black and White Cultural Center are educated on what a typical day is like for a traditional Garifuna woman, including a demonstration on how to make cassava bread – a culinary staple in Garifuna cuisine. There are junkunu dancers and Garifuna drummers, and guests can also view a 30-40 minute video presentation to learn more in-depth facts about the Garifuna culture. The experience culminates with my favorite part – sampling a number of traditional Garifuna dishes. Travelers wanting to schedule a visit to the Black and White Garifuna Cultural Center in San Pedro should contact Julia directly at 605-2895 or 625-5204."

We got the snapper, ceviche, and lobster bites, and we were not disappointed There were a few things that weren't available on the menu that night I wanted to try and it took a while for one of the appetizers to come out, but it was worth the wait. Wonderful, attentive staff. Everyone was so friendly. Great atmosphere with the live performance!

The food was awesome and the atmosphere was electric with local music. We stopped here and ate dinner. This is a new restaurant so there weren’t any other people there. The food was very flavorful and definitely local. I recommend this to anyone that is looking for something uniquely local.

Great lunch here today. I asked fishing guide where to get the local flavor and this was where they suggested and it was AMAZING. This is a family owned and run restaurant. Julie is the owner / chef and her kids work the front. We brought our catch in and they cooked it all perfectly with a great presentation. Julie came out to see our reaction and was happy that we enjoyed it. Highly recommend this place.

Go here! Super authentic local food, fun and laid back ambiance (incense burning!), incredibly kind staff. We brought fish we caught during the day and they cooked it to perfection. The hudut and jerk rice just blew us away.

The young lady that came to our table was so wonderful. They also offer cooking classes.

We came for lunch and we are a vegetarian and wellness focused family of four. The restaurant was practically empty, but undeservedly so. We were very pleasantly surprised by the farm freshness of the food and by the quality of the cooking. It was lovely to be offered such an authentically delicious glimpse into the Garifuna culture so conveniently located on San Pedro. We especially enjoyed being offered a free drumming lesson as we waited for our meal. We've lived on the island for over a year, and this was our first, but definitely not our last visit to this restaurant. It has shot up to one of our top 5 favorite restaurants here for sure. Highly recommend.

Loved the wholesome food. Ordered the Belizean boil-up which was filled with savorily boiled root grains, vegetables and fried fish topped with tomato cilantro sauce. The food came rather quickly, and the staff were coming to check in a few times during an hour. The space was uniquely decorated and had an interesting travel magazine.

0/5 stars if i could *live music asked for money then played as loud as possible. Nobody at my table could hear each other speak. •Fried fish 0/5 •Seafood Hudat soup 2/5 •Chicken curry 2.5/5 •Conc fritters 3/5 best part All in all, nobody was happy with this meal or this experience. Definitely not worth the price. Would not suggest to anyone.
