Black Bull Inn

First time having dinner at the Black Bull and it did not disappoint. We ordered the prawns for starters and the slow cooked beef featherblade for our mains. The beef was so tender and full of flavour, it was delicious. Our meals came out in good time and the staff were very attentive. A table beside the fire was a bonus! Would highly recommend!

We have visited the Black Bull Inn many times, and it has quickly become one of our favorite dining spots. The food is consistently incredible, with each dish bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. The Christmas menu is particularly impressive, offering a festive twist on their already fantastic offerings—it’s a must-try for anyone looking to celebrate the season with great food. The staff are always kind, respectful, and attentive, making us feel welcome every single time. We strongly recommend the Black Bull Inn and are already looking forward to our next visit!

This restaurant exceeded our expectations. We went in thinking of classical pub fare, but the menu is much more than that. We had mushrooms on toast (breaded slices of portobello mushrooms on garlic sourdough toast, truffle aioli and Parmesan, and Asian noodle vegetable stir fry. All delicious. Lots of options for meat eaters, too (the steaks looked delicious), as well as seafood. Wednesdays wine bottles are 50% off. Good service, nice atmosphere (the restaurant is actually set apart from the pub itself). I highly recommended this place.

First time back here in a few years as passing through and they have there original owners back the food was superb and absolutely delish. Will definitely be making it a point to return very soon . Staff were so friendly and attentive even with the place very busy highly recommend 👌

Popped in for lunch on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised with the fare, following a couple of hit and miss experiences here recently. Staff very pleasant and helpful, Vegan options no problem, the vegan curry was excellent. Steak one of the best ever and cooked to perfection. Burger yummy. Dessert and coffee spot on. Everything very well presented. Only small con was delivery of dessert was a bit on the slow side, but we were not in any great hurry. UPDATE 18/10/2023 Called in again last week and was so disappointed this time around. We both opted for roast of the day which was Turkey and ham. This was not your normal turkey and ham dinner, it was what I would describe as processed turkey and ham, not real mash and veg was package frozen veg cooked on premises. The Baileys Eton Mess was nice but only one strawberry was laughable. Coffee was nice. Senior waitresses seem totally disinterested and we felt we were only a burden on them by being there. The restaurant was a lot quieter than normal an we now know why. Suggestion : Serve home cooked food, reduce price and think more of the customer. Ultimately it is the customer that keeps you open. Won't be back and we were regular diners UPDATE 16/09/2024 Called in today for lunch, and was pleasantly surprised. The old Black Bull had returned. Food fare was excellent. Melt in the mouth ribs, tasty curry, Soup and Caprece sandwich all delicious, not to mention a yummy chocolate muffin! So glad we called back and we can't wait to return.

Atmosphere was lively, we were seated quickly, tables were clean, food was good and served quickly, and the orders were correct. There were only two disappointments. #1: we had never been here before, so we looked up the menu online and chose what we wanted. But after being seated, we were given the menus and they had changed the options, so one of our party didn't get to eat what they really wanted. When asked, we were told "Sorry that was the Christmas menu"... It's February - over a month since Christmas. No suggestions for an alternative or "Let me check what we can do", and #2: I had finished my drink and we were still talking and eating, and they collected my glass, but they didn't ask me if I wanted another drink.

A great place to meet friends and have a drink and meal

Great place to hangout. We went there to celebrate my wife’s birthday and it was great. The place has got a nice ambiance to it. The Raging Bill Burger was amazing. We also ordered the Cajun Chicken Burger, Supreme Of Chicken, Thai Red Curry and The Famous Bill Sizzlers. The staff was also nice and Friendly

First time at Black Bill Inn. Lounge is so warm and inviting. Our server, Jack was so pleasant, knowledgeable about the menu, making great suggestions and about the wine. The food was delicious - sea bass special and bbq ribs. The wine list was excellent and both the food and wine were reasonably priced. The female server whose name I didn't get was also friendly and efficient. Can't wait to come back to this very inviting place!

Black Bull Inn had food similar in quality to American bars which unfortunately means it was mediocre. Bar staff were all friendly and it's an easy place to bring a family with kids. Don't necessarily need to return but don't regret going. Solidly in the middle.

If you like bad service this is the place for you! The burgers are so dry you need ketchup to eat them. I ordered medium it came practically burnt. Not to mention the fact that the food took almost 40 mins to come out. The waiters will look at you when you call them and walk away! The Black bull obviously needs a management change.

The Black Bull is 15 minutes walk from our home and would be our default eating out location was the standard of the food less hit and miss. We have eaten there on a number of occasions, and taken groups there; one time it's pretty good, the next time it's disappointing. The staff are also inconsistent, some very good, others not so great. The Black Bull has the potential to be a really top rate pub restaurant, perhaps a new manager who really cares and has the skills needed to turn it around is needed.

My partner and I were at the Black Bull last week and enjoyed the ambiance immensely. Drinks were served quickly. We have eaten here in the past and been impressed with the food quality.

The only reason they are getting one star is cause they managed to cook chicken nuggets for the kids. Had lunch here and to be honest was disgusting. Roast beef was burnt and was sent back. Replacement roast beef was a piece of fat. Cannoli was reheated , dried and burnt on top. Latte was warm not hot and had to be asked for three times. Decor is poor and the chairs are old and filthy. The staff look miserable and walk around like they are chewing wasps. Won't be going back.

Nicely varied kids menu, and good variety on the regular menu to match. All our favorites are on the early menu so we get a lovely meal quite cheap. It's always busy but service is usually pretty good. Portions are always very generous too.

A pretentious spot in Drogheda. Nicely varied menu, with everything from burgers to pasta, seafood and vegetarian. I had the chicken "pie", with a very good mushroom gravy. Nicely appointed decor, but the chairs and couches were strangely worn, not in keeping with the surroundings. Service was strange, the waitress took drink orders, came back to take meal orders before the drinks were even delivered. We wanted to relax with drinks for a while. The drinks were delivered, again wanted to take a meal order, we begged off and within three minutes a different waitress appeared wanting to take the meal order. This was repeated (by two different waitresses) over the next five minutes and we finally gave up and ordered dinner. Good place for food, but the staff needs to relax a bit and not try to turn the table over so quickly.

Have eaten here a few times, mainly because my grandmother likes it, and it is convenient. Food is fairly mediocre, as is the service.

A traditional menu but food is very well prepared. Very friendly staff, excellent service.
