There are a lot of great restaurants in Cambria, but I think this was my favorite! Definitely make a reservation, especially on the weekends. Such a cute place with a great ambiance. My only critique, and this is because I'm old, is I wish there was a little bit more lighting so it would be easier to read the menu. But aside from that, we had a lovely experience. The service was terrific, and the food was outstanding. It is not cheap, it is a special occasion place, but the quality of the food is worth it.

Fantastic! Each of our dishes and the paired wines were excellent. This place blew away our expectations - we selected it for the cool name and appropriate menu, but it ended up being an incredible experience. Great service, excellent food and good wine. They obviously really care and it shows!

This is exactly the place I needed, with the clam chowder I needed, and the rose I wanted. This might be my new hang out on weekdays. Absolutely perfect. Every spoonful of chowder was perfect, the sourdough bread was perfectly soft and crispy. The rose was bubbly and lovely. I’m a fan. I will be coming back here. The atmosphere has me enjoying the cloudiness outside with some Billie Holiday inside.

Good Quality food. Cozy & intimate ambiance. The customer service was great, they treated us to dessert because we waited a while (didn’t seem like a long time) for our food. My food was delicious, especially the lemon cake! I Enjoyed my time here!!

Google
Great place for a nice, adult dinner out. We reserved our table ahead of time so we didn't wait at all. The service was really good. My fiancé wasn't sure which wine to order because there were so many but our server was really helpful and gave him a few options to try. We got the Brussel sprouts and quail appetizers and they were both so good. I ordered the ribeye steak and he got the lamb shank. This was the best steak I have ever had, tender with some good searing and amazing flavor. He really liked the lamb, it was falling off the bone with a great sauce on top. I would definitely recommend this place but not if you have kids with you. Honestly toward the end someone brought their crying kid in and that was kind of annoying since the place is small.

Extremely Disappointing and Humiliating Experience I had my first-ever dinner at this restaurant, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a disastrous experience. A waitress accidentally bumped into me and spilled a large amount of scalding hot orange clam chowder on my right hand and clothing. The soup was so hot that my skin turned red and tender from the burn. It was not a minor spill—at least half the bowl ended up on me, soaking through my coat and shirt. My evening was completely ruined, and I felt humiliated having to deal with this in front of other guests. The staff handed me a bag of ice to soothe the burn, and while they did say “sorry,” the apology felt insincere. They repeatedly emphasized that “it was just an accident,” as if that excused the harm caused. The most shocking part was how unprofessionally the situation was handled. When I spoke with the manager, I was met with dismissiveness and sarcasm. I pointed out the soup stains on my jacket, and she responded with, “Do you want me to buy you a coat?”—a deeply inappropriate and unprofessional remark, especially given that I had just been burned in their restaurant. While the food and service had initially been pleasant, everything changed after the incident. My daughters had to check on me to ensure I was okay, as the burning sensation was painful and upsetting. When I spoke with the manager again, I was under the clear impression that the entire meal would be waived as an acknowledgment of the severity of the incident. I accepted their apology in good faith, but when I reviewed the receipt later, I discovered that only my individual meal was refunded while the rest of the bill was charged. This felt dishonest and completely contrary to what I was led to believe. No one clarified that only one meal would be removed from the bill. Any restaurant with a true commitment to customer experience and reputation would have taken full responsibility and comped the entire meal, especially under these circumstances. This experience was not only physically painful but also emotionally distressing and deeply disappointing. I expected a far higher standard from what presents itself as an upscale restaurant. The lack of empathy, professionalism, and accountability displayed by the staff and management was unacceptable. I sincerely hope no one else has to go through what I did.

Google
Dinner was fine. Service was good. Nothing exciting. I had the lamb which was fine. It was served with some basic sautéed veggies and some mashed sweet potatoes. For $43 it wasn’t all that inspired. My 18 year old had a pasta dish which they seemed to enjoy. It seemed overpriced for a vegetarian pasta dish. We had two desserts: the lemon cake and the pot de crème. Both were good. We parked on the street although there was parking in the lot next to the restaurant. The ambience was ok. It was pretty basic and casual.

Google
The flavors were amazing. My wife and I shared every dish. The crab cakes were all crab and the jumbo shrimp they added was a great treat. The chicken piccata was incredibly savory and the seared ahi plate pared perfectly with the jasmine rice. Our lemon cake with personal French press coffee pots was another indicator that they want to empress. And, they did. We'll done Black Cat. We will definitely cross your path again.

Yelp
Wonderful experience. Attentive service great food nice ambience highly recommend. Romero and the staff are always checking on us which was nice.

Yelp
Two out of three dishes were done well. The duck breast was not. The skin was not cross hatched and crispy. The breast needed more cook time. The interior was worn and very tired. Walls were scuffed and chairs need cleaning or replacing. It is a small place and a sufficient refresh could take place in one day. Also, the complexity of the menu warrants more experienced staff.

Yelp
Food was fine enough but a waiter spilled hot soup all over my mother's bare hand and clothes, and they had the nerve to say she "overreacted." As a journalist whose job includes reviewing restaurants, this was absolutely the worst service I've ever experienced.

Yelp
We've been coming to Cambria every year and to the Black Cat for 2 decades. Sadly and heartbreakingly so, this little restaurant has REALLY slipped. Starting with the gentleman that greeted us and then became our waiter as well. He was totally distracted, kind of listening but also looking over his shoulder. Clearly didn't want to be at work. He wanted to get back to chatting with the kitchen guys. Food got even worse. The gnocchi appetizer - gnocchi was tasteless, dense and cold. Huh?! This dish was a sad start to the rest. Scallop entree, same thing - no flavor, sauce was too sweet, goopy and over powering and same sauce for the gnocchi. My husband had the shrimp scampi and it was pretty underwhelming too. We needed salt on everything, no flavor or seasoning. Man, what a let down. Not to mention the front room where we sat, looked a little dirty, crooked pictures on the walls a bunch of storage stuff / crap outside that shouldn't be visible to customers. Black Cat was once our favorite and now has gone to the bottom of the list. We won't visit there again.

Yelp
My wife and I celebrated New Year's Eve by dining at Black Cat Bistro for the first time. We were not disappointed by our choice of this Cambria restaurant. We were seated promptly and attended to by Thomas. We ordered wine and a salad and appetizer to start. Her salad was delicious as it was enough for us to share. My pork belly appetizer was delicious and she enjoyed some with me. Our entrees were equally satisfying. She had the salmon and I had the Chipotle Shrimp Linguine. The portions were large and we will enjoy leftovers at home. The Chocolate Lava Cake rounded off a thoroughly pleasant meal in a quaint restaurant that was once someone's home many, many years ago. The service was exceptional and all of the staff attended to us efficiently. We will definitely be back for special occasions.

Yelp
Do not consider the reviews or ratings for this restaurant! I had an awful experience last Wednesday night!!! No manager! No basic service etiquette! There was two young kids providing all the service and another in the kitchen. I have nothing against young people working in the service industry, as long as they know what they are doing, and can provide fine dining product and service, neither of which we received. The prices still reflect a special occasion meal, which it was... but the experience was less than acceptable for way too much money! If I am going to pay that much money, again on a very special occasion, I shouldn't have to point out that one of the appetizers was missing a crucial sauce. Not to mention that the listing still has the ownership listed as the previous owner who has not been involved for the past 9 years, which needs to be taken down.

Yelp
Unfortunately this place was disappointing. Nice server but the food was not up to par.

Yelp
This is my first place to eat from when I come to Cambria. The food is excellent every time. My go to dishes are the Ahi tuna and Caesar salad but I have also tried the scallops and they are amazing too. The main room is cosy with a lovely fireplace that warms the whole room. The service is always exelent and they want to please which is something a lot of restaurants have forgotten about.

Yelp
Decided to come here after another restaurant in the area had over an hour long wait. The entrance was dark, you have walk down to the restaurant from the street. Our waitress was also the hostess. She was great. Our food was outstanding!!! My wild salmon was cooked to perfection. It's a romantic and cozy restaurant.

Yelp
Came here after a wonderful visit to the Cambria Christmas Market and my expectations were at an all time high leading up to arrival. I would categorize our visit as very mediocre. There were only 3 other tables, and the service was pretty slow, lacking genuine hospitality. Our server was nice enough but nothing to rave amount. The overall ambiance is great with a lovely fireplace, dimmer lighting and wonderful Rat Pack/Jazz music playing in the background. For starters we ordered the clam chowder which was very thin / not creamy at all so beware of that (but my husband didn't mind it). Also got the pork belly, which was decent. For entrees, we ordered the chicken piccata and the 8oz ribeye. For the chicken piccata, the chicken was cooked perfectly but the sauce on top was a weird factor, almost cheddar cheesy-like as opposed to lemon/wine-like so be prepared. I also had hoped it came with actual vegetables, as opposed to one shriveled piece of kale. My husband enjoyed the ribeye, which came with a soy glaze. The prices were a bit high in my opinion but they're located in Cambria and during the holiday season (when lots of tourists come to visit) so I guess they can get away with it. Overall, was not impressed. Would maybe consider trying this place again and ordering something else off the menu, but that's a big maybe...

Yelp
I had the salmon, which was fine but not too exciting. The rest of the group was mixed on their dishes. Our server was very nice, but overall we were expecting more given the strong reviews.

Yelp
Quaint atmosphere and lovely selection of a menu. The arugula salad is a must. The power briefly went out and they handled it with grace.

Yelp
My husband and I both chose seafood options (I had trout, he had salmon) and both were very well prep. They also have a great wine list with many Central Coast options that were fun to try. The space is really charming and cozy. Great dinner spot in Cambria!

Yelp
My husband and I had dinner on Christmas Eve and it was wonderful. I had the Salmon and the sauce was so flavorful and it was seared beautifully. My husband had the Mahi Special and it was wonderful as well. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the wine perfect with our meal. We love how quaint the dinning area is, it felt very warm and cozy. We look forward to dinning here more often. Thank you to the wonderful staff who made Christmas Eve so wonderful. Merry Christmas!!!

Yelp
After sitting at Mezzo next door for a while without any recognition we were there we left and went next door to the Black Cat. The service and personal attention was great The food was delicious, we had Chipotle fettuccini and the salmon; great!! We loved our server; nice ambiance. We will be back!!

Yelp
Such a charming little place with terrific food and excellent service, truly gracious and sweet people who go the extra miles, e.g. because we were celebrating our 41st anniversary weekend, they comped us a dessert--we were so taken aback and appreciated their gesture. It's a storybook interior with several different spaces with tablecloth linens on the tables. It's a converted little house that serves as a restaurant. We got their quail appetizer, served with braised radicchio and apples, and their arugula strawberry salad with bleu cheese and candied pecans. Their rolls freshly baked and served warm. We shared their wild salmon with vegetables and potatoes, also excellent. In all, the service, prices and food plus ambience and absolute home run.

Yelp
Had an amazing dinner! Everything was delicious. Service was excellent. The ambiance was lovely. The meal was made with great care & the wines were delicious. Top notch meal! Thank you!

Yelp
We let the restaurant know we had a small dog and we're told they had a screened patio. We arrived 10 minutes early front patio had dead plants in the planters and it was very dirty. We were taken to the side patio which was obviously used for storage of various items ( 10 or so propane tanks stacked in the corner dusty). Broken space heaters , dirty floors and chairs. If this is how they present themselves then I would hate to see the kitchen. This is not a burger place but noted as fine dining! We left not a pleasant experience.

Yelp
Always fabulous! We've visited Black Cat Bistro several times for dinner and once for lunch. This place always knocks it out of the park. Super cozy, homey feel. Stellar service. Fantastic food. What more could you want? Can't wait to get back to here.

Yelp
Who runs out of dinner napkins and bread rolls ? They gave us paper towels from the restroom. Great service , but management needs to get it together. My Kir Royal was not cold. Ahi tuna was over cooked.

Yelp
Love, love this place. Food was delicious. It's definitely an intimate, cozy place for a date night. I, for one, had a solo date night and did not feel out of place at all. The lighting is pretty dim. Service was excellent. My server made sure I was attended to consistently. I ordered the flat iron steak to curb my red meat craving, and it was cooked perfectly at medium rare. The warm apple tart a la mode was the perfect end to my meal; it wasn't too sweet nor tarty. The wine selection was extensive, so I had a glass of local cabernet. Now, what kind was it? I couldn't tell you; I'm not much of a wine person to remember. ;) Overall, I had a lovely, pleasant experience and will happily return on my next trip.

Yelp
This restaurant is located in interesting building that was once a private residence. The decor and ambiance are fun, and worth seeing. The service was first rate, with quick, accurate, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Unfortunately, that's where the good news ended. We ordered the clam chowder, shrimp crostini and the duck breast. All were unremarkable, and the duck was slightly over cooked. Not our best dinner at the coast. If you've got plenty of time on your trip, maybe give it a shot. If your days are limited, there are better choices for a meal.

Yelp
Very good food and service. It's a bit crowded inside but overall a real gem. Great wine menu ! Good dinner choices and nice desserts.

Yelp
Note to self... Don't try to find a place for dinner in Cambria on a Saturday night at about 6:30 in July without a reservation. We tried all of our usual favorites, and understandably everyone was booked until 830 or so. My friend and I got lucky that a table opened up here just as we were parking and hoping to find someplace open for us. Nice vibe... Basically feels like a big house with various rooms turned into small dining areas. Hot sourdough dinner rolls out of the oven were an excellent start. We had been wine tasting all day, so I opted for wine by the glass. They had a pretty good selection here given the smallish size of the restaurant. We split the arugula and strawberry salad, which was very good. My friend had a seafood pasta with scallops, which he liked a lot. We both agreed it was pretty spicy, spicier than the description on the menu suggested, but he loved it, and I enjoyed my small taste of it. I ordered the pork chop, which was stuffed with pancetta, fontina, sage, and topped with mushrooms, and quite a few other things. There was a lot going on in this dish, and I really can't say that I enjoyed it. The flavors seemed to completely overpower the pork, and nothing seemed to complement anything else. But funny thing... They were a group of four folks sitting next to us who were talking about how they loved their entrées, and how they had been to such and such a place in town, and didn't like it as much as the black cat. So maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, or the wrong thing for me anyway? I would not give up on a restaurant just because I didn't like one entrée, even though it was mine. Got to give the menu and the chef and the owners that second chance, right? We live in town, So we will be back, though I will definitely pass on the pork chop, and I advise you to do the same. :) note: I was going to order the duck breast, and asked the server what he recommended, which was the pork. But hey, I am an adult, in possession of free will, so part of this is on me. :)-

Yelp
This place is so cute and cozy. Staff was friendly attentive and awesome. We started our dinner with crab cakes and clam chowder. Crab cakes and mango salad was delicious! the perfect appetizer! Clam chowder tasted perfect. It was hearty for me and i could have eaten less, but it was so good i wanted to finish it. the Lamb chops were sooo tasty, i enjoyed the purée on the chop. I would definitely order that again. I also got to try the pork chop with Brussel sprouts. The pork chop was cooked nicely I'm not a Brussel fan lover but it was good with the coffee ancho sauce. When i come back i will have the chicken piccata, it sounded good!
google avatar

Frank C.

Yelp
Server was friendly. Very limited food choices. Had the chicken piccata after staring at the menu for 5-10 min deciding what I wanted and for what price. Chicken piccata was tasty, not filling, overpriced. Bread was mediocre. Got charged a completely different bill from another table, got refunded. We were in n out in 25 min short dinner for wides bday. Nice ambiance.

Yelp
Nice inside dining room where some dishes were good, but unfortunately several were just ok or subpar for the pricetag. Food: 3, Atmosphere: 4, Service: 3 Cost to worth it rating: 2 (entrees mostly $30-40) Return worthiness: not likely Highlights: - Dining room was nice and cutely decorated. Loved the heart made out of cork on the wall - Waiter and service was fine - Scallops: good andcooked well with a unique green chile sauce. 4 stars - Desserts: pot de creme and sticky toffee pudding were good. 4 stars - Clam chowder: a fine version which was creamy with bits of clam and potato. 3.5 stars Midlights: - Filled olives: just ok, lots of breading with not so much filling. 3 stars - Shrimp pasta: wasn't anything special. 3 stars - Lamb: just ok. Could've used more flavor and been cooked less. 3 stars - Crabcakes: ok but covered in sauce. 3 stars Lowlights: - Overall food quality was below expected for the price. Don't mind paying for food at all, but for similar prices we've had better food in town. - Duck: portion was quite large with 8 large slices of breast, but was overcooked. 2 stars - Out of the pork chop which from reviews was a favorite most our party wanted to order Bit disappointing of a meal but glad we got to try another spot in Cambria.

Yelp
We just finished our beautiful dinner here. The food was excellently presented and served. Caesar salad, Sea bass special, rib eye, and pot de crème were delicious and as described. What compels me to write this review was the excellent service provided by Thomas. He was helpful, courteous, personable, and efficient. If other servers were as good as Thomas the industry would be booming. Highly recommend Black Cat Bistro. If Thomas is your waiter, you're going to have a good time.

Yelp
Oh...another restaurant to review and a relaxing day Thursday evening we got in early, we're sat at a good corner table #3 right by the fire place. We started with crispy Brussel sprouts it had a bleu cheese crumble and candied walnut pieces, pretty good. Now I'm not a fan of BS but these were good. I went for a cup of Clam Chowder a good sized bowl, all the ingredients were there but some how the flavor was forgotten. I'm a regular for chowder and this one didn't make the cut. T ordered a rib eye steak witch she enjoyed very much. I ordered the "rack of lamb" which turned out to be lamb chops "lollipopped", almost medium rare the way I ordered them. No mint sauce, instead the lamb was accompanied with a pomegranate reduction, very good and a nice change from the mint. Both dinners were accompanied with mashed potato a touch roasted and a broccoli & cauliflower blend. We finished with a chocolate brûlée thing which was tasty and good to share. No wine for us tonight. Overall the meal was good and okay but with prices being what they are I'd be hard pressed to return, we can find a notch or two better closer to home with a better polish on it. foodguy-martin

Yelp
We had 6pm reservations on a Sunday. We were seated in a dim, stuffy, small back room with 9 other guests, and a dog. Ventilation was so poor it felt like we were seated in the kitchen. The room was drab and depressing. The chairs are old and uncomfortable (so worn out that you slide down). Ambience begging for upgrade. Menu prices higher than listed online. Also it was 4 days after Christmas. Where is the Christmas decoration? I would give it a one star but the servers were great and the food good. Still, the experience left much to be desired. We won't be returning.

Sasha M.

Yelp
We came here thinking it would be good from all the reviews. Unfortunately I would not recommend it and would not come back. We had the stuffed porkchop with parsnip purée and rack of lamb. The pork chop was dry with no flavour and the purée was not good. The rack of lamb DID have a good cook, but the carrot purée was like baby food. Service was great.

Yelp
This is our first time back since Covid and things have changed. The patio is now tables and we ended up in our own room. The waiter was very friendly and has been here a few years and is local to the area. The young lady that help out also was very nice. We started with some wine and sprouts I'm not sure if my selection with the Tooth and Nail worked with them but The sprouts are great with a bit of goat cheese and a pomegranate reduction. The main course we had a Chicken Piccata with a full fresh lemon flavor and a Rack of Lamb cooked to perfection We skipped dessert but did enjoy French press tea and decaf The coffee was a bit bitter I drink black so flavor does make a difference

Yelp
A beautiful and quaint bistro where you can feel casual or elegant. Set in 100-year-old home our table was in the actual dining room towards the front. We ordered the salad and a couple of entrées which were delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The service was efficient and professional, but not overbearing. You park in the back where the motion detector light comes on, which makes it easy to walk to the front entrance.

Yelp
It appears the menu has changed from photos a while ago. The app doesn't look like it allows me to upload photos without a review. We swung by but didn't go in

Yelp
This place is too expensive for what it is. I should have guessed it would not be a good experience when I got my glass of house wine. It tasted straight out of a box. The shrimp in my fettuccine was overcooked and hard. The salmon was uninspired and the sauce had too much lemon, which in my opinion didn't go well with the miso. Overall, mediocre diner priced as some Michelin-rated restaurant. Service was nice, thought.
google avatar

Yelp
We were a group of 4. There was probably one other group there. The service was very slow. Had to ask for water refills every time. Lighting and setting was blah. Food was ok. I had the pork chop and I've had better. My daughter's steak was a little undercooked, but luckily she doesn't mind. The pasta dishes my wife and other daughter had seemed average.

Yelp
We found this through the Yelp reviews and had a few nights in town. We decided to give a try on our first night and we're not disappointed. Delicious food, great service, quirky romantic ambiance. They also have an outstanding wine list and are very talented at recommending a great wine for every dish. The scallops were out of this world. Would definitely return!!

Yelp
We came to this restaurant for the first time to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. Our server (Tommy) was super friendly and kind. Our meals were fantastic. We loved this experience and restaurant. Can't wait to come back on our next trip to Cambria.

Yelp
The Black Cat is so very cute. It is homey looking and just comfortable. You can dine indoors or out, we choose indoors and were very comfortable. We were seated in a timely matter and the service was just great. Our server was friendly and patient while I asked about various sea food items. We had a wonderful salad that we shared and we moved onto crab cakes and a flat iron streak. Both were great. The crab cake had a goodly amount of crab with a wonderful little sauce under with some corn. The flat iron steak was super yummy. We ordered it rare and it came that way. It was easy to cut and had a great bean type sauce on it. It was all wonderful. We will try them again on our next trip. I hear they have great deserts, but we ate way to much and could not order desert. But we saw some being delivered and boy did they look good. They also have a great wine list.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was quite disrespectful, unethical, and racists. They did not want to take the order until all of 6 of us were seated. I.e. they wanted remaining 2 folks waiting in restroom line to be seated to take the order, when they only had one restroom for a place with more than 20 tables. After we sat and ordered appetizers and entrees, we also asked to reserve lava cake as desserts 2 hrs. ahead. They said they did reserve and there was no issue. Their chicken piccata came with too much salt, and their crab cakes were over crusted. After requesting with some persistence, they with unfriendly behavior replaced the chicken piccata with a base pasta. After main course was complete, the host asked us if we would like to select dessert from their menu (Including lava cakes listed again), we said we reserved lava cakes already with the server. They again took the dessert order and went in. After 2 mins, they said they don't have the lava cake. Still No apologies but blank response. This gets better: Caucasian folks who came 1 hr after us ordered the same lava cake after us, and are having it in the picture attached.

Yelp
We ended up eating here just by chance since there was no wait and was not packed out like the places on Moonstone Beach. Atmosphere was nice and relaxing. Waiter was nice enough.Hot rolls and butter were delicious. The flat-iron steak was not the medium I had ordered (undercooked) and the entire dish lacked flavor to me. Needed more spices and/or herbs. Maybe it is because it had a sweet mango sauce on it as opposed to a savory sauce? Someone else in our party ordered the clam chowder. It did not live up to what he thought it would taste like. Another in the party ordered the salmon and she did enjoy it a lot. Don't live in the area but most likely won't be eating there again even if I'm in the area.

Yelp
Stellar food and great, accommodating service. We planned a dinner at Black Cat, but didn't plan well enough so that we ended up being the last table sat for the evening. Despite the time crunch to closing, they allowed us in and served with 0 hesitation. Food was phenomenal and service was attentive. Pork chop and chicken piccata were not messing around when it came to top notch flavors that left you cleaning your plate. Unfortunately, ate the food too hastily to get any photos!

Yelp
We were seated with no reservations at 6:30 (thank you) and the staff was friendly and wonderful. Food was great - I had rack of lamb and husband had braised short rib. Both plates delicious. Highly recommend this little cute place. Very cozy and chic.

Yelp
We had dinner at Black Cat Bistro last weekend. We ordered two appetizers, the Fried Green Olives and the Crispy Brussel Sprouts. Both were very good, but I really enjoyed the olives as they were quite different. For dinner our table had the Polenta, which one person said had a little zing to it (spicy?), the Strozzapreti pasta, which was a vegetarian option with a lot of flavor. Two others ordered the duck and the lamb, and they seemed to enjoy their meals. But let's talk about dessert! We ordered the chocolate pot de crème, which was DIVINE! The lemon cake and the Salted Caramel tart. Those were also very tasty. It's a nice little place. Very quaint. We were probably the loud ones that night with our party of 5 ladies. It was lovely.

Yelp
I made a reservation and indicated that it was for my birthday. When we got to the restaurant we were greeted almost like we were an annoyance. The restaurant was less than half full. The hostess asked me if I made a reservation. I told her yes and she seated us. The service was lackluster. The food was edible, but nothing special. There was never any mention of my birthday or thanks for coming. My husband and I were simply tolerated. This may not be the case, but they may not be used or want people of color.

Yelp
The Black Cat Bistro is a Cambria icon and architectural gem on Main Street in downtown Cambria. This historic home offers cozy bench seating, a working fireplace and multiple private rooms for family dining. It has great parking off Main Street but you can't see it til you turn off the main road, Really comfortable setting and quiet ambiance, great service, delicious food and great wines. Make a reservation and let the staff know you support them! Or just drop to see if you're in luck.

Yelp
First, for such a premium spot, the number of parking spots is limited. Next, no cocktails! Cauliflower and blue cheese bisque: B Salad with lemon and Caesar dressing: B- Clam Chowder: A! One of the better in recent memory. Shrimp Scampi: B-, sauce had a Thousand Island taste to it, good, but odd. Lamb: C+, pretty presentation, but meh on taste. The winner of the night: A-. Although the whipped cream was a little weak, the Sticky toffee was awesome, while creme brûlée was very good. Service: A-, Mara was a champ on a crowded Christmas night. For the price, I hesitate recommending Black Cat. But given that your options are limited, and the town prides itself on inflated prices, it might be your best option for occasion dining.
