I had one of the worst travelling experiences with Louisa and her team. The experience was poorly managed, unprofessional, and deeply frustrating.
1. Extremely poor communication
After I clearly shared my proposed itinerary and paid for it, Louisa claimed that I had not done so. I have written evidence of this, and my fellow travellers can confirm it. Less than 24 hours before departure, I was informed that I was not included in the Cape Town leg of the trip this despite me asking several times, what the plan was days prior.
Despite there being a detailed itinerary on paper, at no point was a clear plan onnhoe this would be achieved, communicated. There was no information on daily plans, travel times, or activities. Neither did we have a guide who actually understood the lay of the lands we were transversing through.
Again, despite it being confirmed that I had paid for the Cape Town leg, I still ended up paying out of pocket and arranging my own tour through a separate agency. For the two ladies travelling to Cape Town, their itinerary was shared around midnight the night before departure. As someone who shared a room with Louisa, I witnessed first-hand how poor the planning was. Clients were forced to pay for their own flights and hers, because funds had to be refunded.
2. Complete disregard for time
Louisa consistently failed to keep time. Whether at the start of the day or after stopovers, she routinely arrived late, sometimes by more than an hour, despite agreed meeting times.
3. Rude and disrespectful behaviour
We were fortunate to have an excellent driver, yet Louisa was rude and disrespectful to him. She did not know the routes and frequently spoke to the driver inappropriately. Witnessing this behaviour was uncomfortable and unacceptable.
4. Inability to receive feedback
When feedback was shared regarding the issues above, Louisa became defensive rather than receptive. Her response was dismissive, repeatedly stating, “I have handled people,” instead of addressing the concerns raised.
5. Safety concerns ignored
I explicitly raised concerns that I did not feel safe sharing a room with her. This feedback was ignored, and no action was taken to address the issue.
Overall, this was a thoroughly disappointing, frustrating, mentally challenging and unacceptable experience, marked by ignorance, arrogance, poor planning, lack of accountability, and disregard for client wellbeing.
