I LOVE this place. The food is always delicious, the prices are super reasonable, and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. I definitely recommend this little cafe to anyone I know!

This place is so good!! All the staff are very nice, and the food is fantastic. I had the BLT and it was the best I've ever had, they don't skimp on portions here. I always look forward to mornings where we stop in for a quick lunch

Black Dog makes excellent food! It’s a great spot to meet up with friends. I usually go for breakfast. My food always comes out hot and fresh, and the homemade bread is delicious (try the English muffin toast!). My go-to is a veggie omelet. I’ve heard the sandwiches and baked oatmeal are also very good. I’ve had their lunch items as well and have never had a bad order. Be sure to save room for a baked good, their cookies are outstanding! I love the self-serve coffee because 1) it’s good coffee 2) it’s always fresh and 3) my mug is never empty.. I drink a lot of coffee so it’s nice to be able to grab a refill myself!

Put in a catering order for coffee cakes at our office and the service was great! Food arrived exactly on time and they even added plates, napkins, & utensils for us without being asked. Andy was super friendly and easy to work with, even willing to deliver orders divided into 3 separate containers so we could easily put them in our 3 break areas without having to separate it out ourselves after it got here. Highly recommend and look forward to using them again!

Menu changes weekly, coffee is crisp and fresh plus wait staff is very accommodating!

My Mocha was superb! Lunch with My Gram and we enjoyed everything from the service to the food.

What a little gem. We NEED more places like this in the area. Not sure if it’s their in house coffee or not, but it was delicious. My wife and I both had omelets which were delicious. Portions are on point… not the belly busters you get at the greasy spoon. Also, they had homemade bread that is devine. We’ll definitely be back!

STAY AWAY- Got food poisoning here multiple times and asked previous employee(s) since the last time I had to be hospitalized so - allegedly the kitchen staff doesn’t use gloves (to save money) and the servers do not wash their hands while serving food - and think its “funny” to the employees - the fact they purposefully do not take proper hygienic precautions is a huge red flag! I’m a local and I love supporting local businesses but I am not going to keep having severe food poisoning every time - and I really gave this place multiple tries since I live walking distance - STAY AWAY

A friendly, do drop in local coffee and scrumptious breakfast for a hugely fair price. Excellent, homespun menu and warm Southeastern hospitality make this a must visit breakfast spot.

I'd been meaning to stop here for years and finally made it in! This is a cute little spot in "downtown" Hollidaysburg. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. I got a latte and the bagel special and both were delicious. Hoping to stop back for lunch sometime when there's a vegetarian option available!

I stopped in here three mornings in a row for caffeine! The first morning I opted for an iced triple shot latte with whole milk. The other two days I had straight coffee - their dark, bold offering. The iced latte was outstanding! Strong, bold, rich espresso flavor married with the icy creaminess of whole milk! The coffee was also solid! There is a decent amount of seating in here to chill and hang out, plus a table or two out front on the sidewalk. It's very cozy inside with lots of dark wood. And free Wifi! And this is the ONLY real coffee shop that I could find in the Altoona area! If you don't come here - you are reduced to either the pseudo Starbucks counter at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Altoona, or hitting Dunkin' Donuts, Sheetz, McDonald's, Burger King, etc. for your coffee. Service was friendly! I'll be back to Black Dog next time I am in the area!

1st time here moving for a new job, fast service and great coffee! Cheese omelette was extra cheesy and the portions were great!

I love checking out local businesses and trying new things. So I walked into Black Dog Coffee looking forward to seeing what they did well. Granted, it was towards the end of the day. The kitchen had closed, but I was really only there for a caffeine fix. Given the timing, and how long the brewed coffee had likely been sitting around, I decided to go for a double espresso. To the shop's credit, they ground the beans fresh to order. But that's the only good thing I can say about the espresso. It was thin, exceedingly bitter, and had no crema in a matter of moments. Part of the last flaw could have something to do with the fact the shots were poured into a standard coffee mug instead of an espresso cup. But the double espresso was originally going to be poured into a styrofoam to-go cup originally, which wouldn't have helped. It's a shame, because the shop itself is cute with a great window overlooking the street. Maybe there is something better to get there than espresso drinks. So my search for good espresso in the Altoona area continues.

Extremely friendly and great service. The coffee is amazing! They had Banana Nut as a featured coffee and it was very good. Warm cozy feel.

My wife and I had breakfast there . We were very pleased with the service and food! My Greek omelet was amazing. The coffee was excellent. We were a little apprehensive since they just reopened September 28th. They have hit the ground running. Good job Andy!

Husband and I went for breakfast one weekend. The wait staff was super friendly and very helpful with menu suggestions. I has a breakfast wrap and he had the mess. Both were amazing. I heard a gentleman at the next table say his pancakes were the best he's ever had, so I will be heading back to try those. Overall a wonderful experience!

Very welcoming atmosphere and attitude towards the customers. I had the double cappuccino and it was fantastic also had an omelette with cheese and a cinnamon bagel with cream cheese. Parking is a little hard because it is street parking but as soon as you get parked and in the café to start eating it's a nice place to sit down and have coffee with your friends and catch up.

Bad dog.... I can only comment on the coffee at black dog coffee & catering... but hey if it's in your name then it should be good. Sadly the coffee at Black Dog is some of the worst I have ever had coming from a "coffee shop" and this go's for the really bad lattes as well. I'm not sure if they are using bad/old espresso beans or what may be the cause but overall its a very stale taste. The atmosphere is nice and the food might be good too, as for the coffee... I'd stay away from that stuff.

Quaint doesn't touch it as a description. It's cute, clean, well kept and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They have a modest but ambitious food menu and the standard college town coffee shop offerings. There were some shoebox-sized brownies and some other desserts that looked AMAZING. It's cozy and has free wifi.

Don't come over lunch. It gets too busy for the staff that they have. The staff gets overwhelmed and moody. Pastries are good and the coffee isn't bad. Cute place with lots of seating. Street parking . Come around 9:30-10 for best results

On a trip to the New England states and found this along the way. Extremely cool little place to get some amazing home cooked meal! Try there homemade lemon cookies and English muffin toast!

Cozy coffee shop. They carry premium deli cheeses and lunch meat. The jalapeno popper grilled cheese is one of my favorites. They usually have it as a special on Mondays. It is one of the best breakfast joints in our town. I used their catering service for my sister's baby shower and it was excellent. The lady who is the hostess is very friendly. Try their omelet. You won't be disappointed.

Best ouch Ina long time. One had the roast beef with he'd far. And soup. The other ad chicken salad wrap. Both choices were great...made just right and served nicely. We are trying to set up a dinner there. Stop I for lunch. You won't be sorry

I got a cappuccino and a breakfast sandwich on home made English muffin bread. Very very good. Friendly waiter. Couldn't ask for more.

The food and coffee here was excellent! One of us had a traditional breakfast, another had the baked oatmeal and finally the bagel special. We were all impressed with our meals. The servers were very attentive to our needs and friendly. We enjoyed the locals having their morning chats. I highly recommend this place!

This place was so disorganized, so slow, so unfair. We sat down at a table prompted by a staff member. The table was not clean. I helped clean the table only to be asked by another staff member to move because that table was "reserved." Mind you, this is a place that doesn't take reservations, but I guess my money is not as good as Mr. and Mrs. Lawyer or Doctor. I'm a doctor, too, PhD not MD. When I was finally seated at another table, I waited for an hour and twenty minutes for my food to come out. I was here with three guests from out of town. We had other plans for the day than to be stuck at a table by the restrooms. I could have left, but I waited out of courtesy because I did manage to place an order. Will I return here? Certainly NO.

Great little place to grab a super breakfast or lunch. Great omelets and when they have their baked oatmeal it is prefect for a chilly Fall or Winter morning. Overall a comfortable atmosphere with great food and a personal touch.

We love the Black Dog!! My husband and I have gone there for lunch a handful of times and each time has been wonderful! We have gotten something different every time and have never had a bad meal. Today I got the cheddar and roast beef wrap and the broccoli and cheddar soup. Both were wonderful and fresh. The service is very prompt and the wait staff is also super friendly. Their desserts are to die for! Today I got the raspberry bar and it was heavenly! So thankful for this little gem in our town.

Excellent breakfast at a reasonable price. The baked oatmeal was the best ever (the steamed milk to go with it was an added treat).

I've been several times for Coffee & once for breakfast. The Breakfast was a little disappointing & it's tough for me to say because I really like this place. It's really relaxed, unpretentious & comfortable in a simple way. I ordered Scrambled Eggs with Turkey Sausage & Toast. Once again, like so many places around here, the Eggs had NO SEASONING ! The Eggs tasted horribly bland,... Just a little pinch of salt makes a huge difference. I'm sure the Sausage was a factory made, bought in product & I wish cooks would realize how easy & cheap it is to make your own recipe of Sausage Patties ! I was fed well for $5.95 but a pinch of salt would have nailed the Eggs & a Breakfast Sausage Patty made in house & they could easily add another dollar to the price tag :)

So far I've eaten the vegetable omelet and the grilled chicken salad with blue cheese and balsamic vinaigrette. Both are delicious and light. The coffee is perfect in blend and freshness. My experiences here have thus far been worth my patronage.

Great atmosphere for lunch hour with colleagues. Love the guitar player outside and the ham and cheese on rye had am amazing mustard sauce!

This small town restaurant is unique and one of a kind. Food is great and well prepared. The sausage and biscuits is exceptional. Pricing is very reasonable. Atmosphere is very casual. This is a nice place to go for breakfast or lunch. Just try to avoid the week day lunch crowd.

Terrific coffee shop vibe. Don't pass up the $1 self-serve coffee bar; the choices are terrific. We ordered the blueberry pancakes which were stuffed full of plump berries. Reasonable prices, wonderful servers, and cozy interior make this a must stop restaurant in Hollidaysburg, PA.

Black Dog is my favorite sandwich shop in the area! The catering service is very helpful. With only an hour's notice Black Dog has been able to provide sandwiches and salads for over 20 people. The broccoli salad is a favorite at our company!
