Black Draft Farm & Distillery

Not too small but not too large. Excellent indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy a real nice beverage. Enjoyed all the whiskey and bourbon tastings. Not every distillery get five stars from me. If I could it would get even more stars.

This place is fantastic. The owners, managers, and all the staff are terrific. Great cocktails, views, food trucks, and music every weekend. I've NEVER had anything but a GREAT experiences there, even at that their original distillery. And I will continue to tell my neighbors, friends, and family about this venue and their amazing Rise & Shine Vodka.

Went there Friday Night for the first time with a friend who had been there. The place was nice and big. I glanced around then walked straight to the bar. The Young Ladies were outstanding. Very Polite with lots of big Smiles. They always made their rounds to make sure we were doing OK. The Young Guy working the outside came over and thanked my Friend for being a Veteran and chatted for a Sec. I was so proud of the youngsters and their Politeness. My friend was so Impressed he asked for the manager or Boss because he wasn't leaving until he told them how good the staff was. #9 we will stop by to see you play 🏐 Appreciate a great friendly Night. ❤️

We were camping in the town over (Hedgesville) & they recommended to try out Black Draft. We were really excited to try out a local distillery! We sat outside near the outer edge of the patio, a hostess said a waiter would be right with us. Not even 2 minutes later another women came over asking for our dogs service vest. She isn’t a service dog, just a quiet well behaved 50lb doodle. She was already laying down next to my seat by the time anyone even came over. She explained they don’t allow any pets and that we needed to leave the premises. I understand if we were inside but that was never the plan. We simply wanted to sit outside on a beautiful day and have a drink. Our dog has been traveling the United States with us for 7 years and not once have we been turned away from an outdoor establishment that only serves drinks.

My first time there yesterday. I absolutely love this place!!! Great drinks and the girls were awesome!!! Thank you Pocahontas 😂 The food truck outback had the best crab nachos I have ever eaten in my life!!! Definitely give this place a five star. We will definitely be back!! Thank you guys for having us!!

Very nice place with plenty of people working so waiting for food or drink did not take long. Inside and outside have plenty of space and it was very clean. Variety of drinks and spirits for sale was nice. I didn't get her name but there was a young lady working the tasting and I believe she mentioned it may have been her first day doing that, she did an amazing job.

August 2023 drink menu is off the hook! Another great night with family at black draft! Amazing atmosphere and staff!! Their liquors taste amazing, especially the coffee one, great for coffee lovers. Beautiful back patio with live music sometimes. They have food truck vendors often. Nice place to hangout in casual atmosphere. The staff definitely was friendly and they had free tasting of each liquor (be sure to tip your bar tender). Was a great experience.

First time to the distillery. Great atmosphere, plenty of seating either indoor, outdoor, umbrella or cabana. Music was nice, not too loud. Overall a great experience. They had 2 food trucks which is why we went in the first place, but got some drinks while we were there. Our photo doesn’t do it justice. The place is huge..multiple buildings way more to it than meets the eye. Will be back again for sure!

We have been to Black Draft several times and I just noticed I had not reviewed them, so here are some notes..... Beautiful grounds!. It is a farm with stunning rolling hill views. Several different tasting rooms ( a couple are converted barns) so there is a lot of seating. Lots of outdoor seating as well. Live music and food trucks Big parking area Staff are friendly but nothing out of the ordinary Mixed drinks and PBR. Spirits are ok, good for mixing, I dont think they are for sipping. Gift shop on site with logo apparel, bottles and small gifts Note each bar area is a separate check system so you cant move around the grounds all on one tab. My rating rationale +.5 Service +1 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +1 Presentation +1 Atmosphere/vibe +1 Value

Fun distillery in a beautiful area just west of Downtown Martinsburg. I like to call this the graduation from wine tasting. Just remember, you're sampling liquor so get ready for a fantastically fun time! The lady doing the samples is a hoot and hauler! She's got lots of fun facts and jokes which instantly make her your new best friend. Don't get scared. Yes, it is liquor but they have deliciously tasty cocktails if you're feeling a tad timid. They can create a homemade seltzer with any of their spirits. My recommendation is the mint vodka with watermelon. Have that on a nice summer day with some food from their food trucks. Honestly, even if you're not a drinker, come here and order a beverage + food. The atmosphere and views alone are worth a visit.

Wow! This place is amazing! Right outside downtown Martinsburg in a great location. The views are beautiful, the place is also beautiful. I can't say enough great things about this place. The service was so friendly. They make their own liquor and you can drink that or they have lots of fun cocktails using their liquor. They also have other drinking options. All for amazing prices. They always have a food truck and the one that was there when we went was BBQ and tasty! They have TVs where you can watch the game. They also have live music which we got to enjoy while there. If I lived here I would frequent this place!!

Lovely rural location outside of Martinsburg. Well maintained, two spacious buildings plus plenty of outdoor seating. If you want to hear music, there's a space for that; if you want to talk, there's a space for that as well. Cozy fireplace and sofas and chairs as well as tables. Food truck the night we went was on point - I believe they alternate different food options. Fully stocked bar, and they even have one standard beer for those of us who don't want hard liquor. Place includes a small general store where you can purchase their products to take home. Service was friendly. Can't wait to visit in the summer.

This place is the absolute best!!! Amazing owner! Amazing staff! Amazing drinks! Amazing place and views! And they bring in some amazing food vendors and live performers. I wish there was a better word than amazing because it really doesn't do the experience justice. Everyone was soo nice and friendly. You can tell they enjoy working their and after meeting with the owner and getting a personal tour for our HUGE group that was in town for training, I can see why and would definitely want to work there too. The owner, Glen, gave out group some samples directly from the barrels still in process and lesson on each sample. He's so personable and you can tell he loves and have fun doing what he does! A regular visit here entails a free tasting of all the liquor they make here and they have some tasty cocktails made from each for purchase (great prices!). My entire group worked our way down the cocktail list (some of us a few times haha). My favorite was easily the mango strawberry lemonade and peach rye sour, but they have something for everyone. They will also make you whatever mix you want if you don't want to choose from the cocktail menu, they have other fresh juices to choose from. They make, bottle, and label everything right there on site! It's impressive! They have a gift store that sells all their liquors, T shirts, hats, and few other things. If you are a first responder, they give a 15% discount on bottles (might be anything in the gift store, can't quite remember).

Black Draft's Rise and Shine is so unique and delicious, and this is coming from a non-coffee drinker.

Very nice laid back kind of place. The staff was very helpful. We've never been there before. So we had a few questions. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They had live music, food trucks. And a weinery they fix hotdogs. The hours are when they are there they're open. When they're not they're closed. Very fun place. They put out an awesome bourbon. I bought a bottle to take home. Prices are average for everything. Overall I'd have to say they are doing a great job with their business. I will be back again.

Awesome environment and the tasting was informative and fun. I was there one day by myself and did the tasting. I can't remember her name (maybe Jill) but she was awesome. I liked everything we had in the tasting and purchased a few assorted bottles. The live music was great and the Food by Fire (I think) had DELICIOUS Brussels sprouts!

Really enjoyed the vibes at this venue. The whisky tasting along with the background behind the distillery. Locally sourced grown and brewed this place is a must visit. The staff is amazing and very knowledgeable about the whiskey

We enjoyed the tasting! Everything was delicious! Great atmosphere knowledgeable and friendly staff incredibly smooth spirits what more could you ask for! Next time we will taste the delicacies offered by the local food trucks. We will be back!

Made a reservation for an outdoor cabana upon a recommendation of a friend, filled out the Google form and didn't hear anything for a few days. Called and spoke to a super nice lady, so I felt optimistic about it. Unfortunately, the weather was anticipated to be terrible, so I asked about an inclement weather policy and never heard back. Arrived to no one waiting on us (we were supposed to have our own server) because they all went home due to weather (it stormed). Eventually we went back outside but it only took 3 minutes for someone to come over and tell us that kids needed to be within arms reach at all times because they were concerned about liability. I just got bad vibes from this place and we won't be back.

Great venue to say the least! We reserved a table for a bachelor party thanks to Amy and were able to take part in a tasting. The tasting was informative and their liquor had a few of us picking up bottles for the rest of the night. The live music was great on their outdoor patio with plenty of seating. The staff were friendly and accommodating to our group and even stop to chat when they could! The food truck, Food by Fire, had some amazing food to go along with the cocktails. If you're in the area you should definitely stop by (and stalk their instagram to see what food truck(s) will be there)!

Great place. Wonderful management. As a tourist I felt so welcomed into the food. Live music was so much fun. So worth a trip.

Who knew there was a distillery in Martinsburg! They were featured in a local event so I signed up for a tour. The owner was so knowledgeable and easygoing. We did a tasting afterward and I've never been a Moonshine fan, but this stuff was good. It was smooth and had a good taste. Plus they have coffee and mint infused versions. Everything they use is local. They even take local WV oak to the guy that makes their barrels. They use Black Dog Coffee for the coffee version and of course local mint. A great place and I certainly will be going back!

My husband and I are on our first 'no kids' vacation, so we were looking for fun things that we wouldn't normally get to do with our kids in tow. We popped in for a tour this afternoon and were blown away by the set up at Black Draft. We were given a tour by Glenn (the owner) and later joined by his wife Tara. First off, Glenn and Tara clearly love what they do and have a passion for the art and craftsmanship of running a distillery. Second, they are just fun people. Glenn is clearly a people person and made us feel at home. It was more like an afternoon with friends than a tour. Third, and most importantly, their moonshine and bourbon are amazing. Black Draft has taken such pride in the creation of their spirits that the quality of their product shines. We loved it so much that we walked out with one of everything. We will definitely be spreading the word and you will for sure hear from us again. Thank you Glenn and Tara for a great afternoon!
