We had the tasting menu along with the wine pairing for lunch here during our stay in the area. Seriously some of the best food I’ve had in my life zero question. Everything and I mean everything is immaculate. I’m still thinking about this meal several months after. Food so good it makes other food disappointing. All the wine was amazing as well, but the Chenin was a standout. If you’re in the area and are okay with setting your money on fire a little I’d highly recommend it. Just go.

A delicious Trust the Chef experience for our wedding anniversary. The food and wine matches were well done and hubby had their matched mocktails instead which were so much fun. Forget your sweet and sickly mocktails - these were savoury and properly paired with the food. All dishes were delicious with the standouts being the perfectly cooked crispy skin salmon with cauliflower purée and hazelnut browned butter, the carrots with lemon “custard”, and the chocolate mousse with poached strawberries and buttermilk ice cream. We had a lovely time. Thanks team!

Amazing food, wine and views. Went for lunch and really enjoyed it, the service is exceptional and the meals are well worth the journey. Only had filter coffee which was odd for such a fine dining experience but that’s pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. Took home some wine and a great memory.

We were given a voucher for Black Estates as a birthday present from our UK family and chose a Trust the Chef lunch. We had no preconception of what the restaurant would be like and found our experience to be superb in every respect. A beautiful location with a table nexto the panoramic window on a fabulous sunny day. The service was helpful and friendly, not rushed but not slow and the meal was sublime. A beautifully balanced set of dishes, presented, cooked and served to perfection. We hope to come back next year with our whole family when they visit New Zealand.......... Thankyou! our birthday treat was one to remember

Had a family celebration lunch here, set menu for 12 people, in mid-March. Wow, the food was outstanding and accommodated all tastes and needs. The lunch was accompanied by beautiful wine, recommended to us based on the menu. And then there’s the setting with views across the vineyard and beyond! Thank you so much Black Estate team!

Wow .. such a beautiful experience from the lovely communication via email when booking, right to the goodbye at the cellar door. Black Estate is simply stunning! The outlook is so special, the decor is perfect, the cutlery & plate ware second to none! (Details I really love!) Fire was roaring as it was a cooler stormy day. Attention to detail is amazing! All the team, owner, waitstaff and chef are incredible. My husband and I could not fault any aspect of our whole experience, thank you Black Estate for making the beginning of our (rare) weekend away so very special. If I could give you 6 stars I would xx

Great place! We didn’t have a reservation, just drove by, and could sit outside. Wine’s are 10/10, the same as the French waiters we had. Also a cute shop with a lot of different products. Definitely stop here 🍷

Yelp
The view here is spectacular! The Rose' has a lovely rich blood hue to it and I brought some home with me to share! The tasting room staff could have been more engaging and interesting, however that seems to be the New Zealand way. No fuss, no muss. Cheers!

Yelp
A great place to add to your vineyard stops when touring the Waipara region. Black Estate has a quaint tasting room that features riesling, rose, sauv blanc and pinot noir that are all of exceptional quality. My favorite is their sauv. Don't stop your tour there though, continue into the dining room for a gorgeous view overlooking the Waipara valley and enjoy a top notch lunch. Don't be turned off by their simplistic chalk board menu as the food is truly quality. I especially love the ciabatta with truffle butter and the pan roasted duck leg. For a light nibble, try their Akaroa salmon.

Yelp
Nice small winery an hourish out of Christchurch. As you walk in you are invited to do a wine tasting, two whites and two reds, but only tried the whites (Riesling and Chardonnay) and both were delish. The restaurant is very modern and simple, overlooking one of their vineyards and a great view of the Waipara Valley. Wasn't to hungry so had just an entree of Goats Cheese tart which was delightful. The whole menu looked great and wished I had more of an apetite. Friendly service, just the right amount, not too over the top. Bought a bottle of wine to go as well :)
