Very cool menu. Great value for stellar food. The stand out was the sourdough icecream and black garlic caramel. Beautiful balance of intense flavours that were lush and indulgent . Lamb was also very tasty and tender. Black Estate lives up to its reputation for excellence and innovation .

We did a wine tasting in the late afternoon and rolled into staying here at their BnB and it was incredible! Comfy bed, beautiful gardens and a stunning outlook over their vineyard. Enjoyed a delicious takeaway meal offered from their restaurant and a full mini bar should we need it. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. We love it here!

Awesome lunch on a sunny Friday at Black Estate. Highlights were the salmon and the porchetta….. the porchetta came with truffles as well, bonus! The dessert, a pumpkin semifreddo was amazing, an excellent way to finish the meal. The wines we had were beautiful, both the Home and Netherwood chardonnays. Service was great too. The dining room by the window on a sunny day is very warm so dress accordingly. It might only be 8 or 9 degrees outside but the warmth inside means you definitely don’t need layers.

We dined here recently and the whole experience was exceptional. We had stayed away after a mediocre experience a couple of years ago, but so pleased we made the trip to Waipara and returned. Every course was impeccable. The wine was also amazing. And the staff and service was friendly and professional. Def worth the drive - we will be back.

Had an absolutely incredible Trust the Chef here on the weekend with my husband. The chef catered for us being vegetarian without any problem, and even went so far as to create a small personalised menu for us. Every bite was delicious, service was impeccable, the Pet Nat was divine and it all made for the most memorable day out! Thank you.

Excellent Trust the Chef lunch with wine pairings. Great service, amazing food, beautifully presented, and excellent wines. Altogether a very special experience. Stand out dishes beef tartaric, organic tomatoes, ravioli, BBQ lamb rump. Particularly enjoyed the home block chardonnay and the Pet-nat

We love Black Estate. We have been there several times. We often recommend it to friends and overseas visitors. The setting is beautiful, the food is good, and the wine is great. But it seems to us the service has become less friendly over time. This morning we passed by thinking about their great sourdough, cheese and wine. For timing, we were relying on their website, which said the cellar door would open at 10am including a “simple snack menu.” But when we arrived soon after 10am we were told the website is wrong, and they would not offer any food at all before 11:30. The issue is not so much the mistake on the website, but how unapologetically and rudely we were treated as we suggested we were confused by the website. After today, we may think twice before choosing among the many good wineries in the area.

Superb view and delicious lunch on a lazy Monday afternoon. Food is designed for sharing and you can do a wine tasting at the same time!

Yelp
The view here is spectacular! The Rose' has a lovely rich blood hue to it and I brought some home with me to share! The tasting room staff could have been more engaging and interesting, however that seems to be the New Zealand way. No fuss, no muss. Cheers!

Yelp
A great place to add to your vineyard stops when touring the Waipara region. Black Estate has a quaint tasting room that features riesling, rose, sauv blanc and pinot noir that are all of exceptional quality. My favorite is their sauv. Don't stop your tour there though, continue into the dining room for a gorgeous view overlooking the Waipara valley and enjoy a top notch lunch. Don't be turned off by their simplistic chalk board menu as the food is truly quality. I especially love the ciabatta with truffle butter and the pan roasted duck leg. For a light nibble, try their Akaroa salmon.

Yelp
Nice small winery an hourish out of Christchurch. As you walk in you are invited to do a wine tasting, two whites and two reds, but only tried the whites (Riesling and Chardonnay) and both were delish. The restaurant is very modern and simple, overlooking one of their vineyards and a great view of the Waipara Valley. Wasn't to hungry so had just an entree of Goats Cheese tart which was delightful. The whole menu looked great and wished I had more of an apetite. Friendly service, just the right amount, not too over the top. Bought a bottle of wine to go as well :)
