Black Heritage Trail of NH, Inc

What an amazing experience for both black and white humans. This trail which was an entire day of walking through the city helped clarify Portsmouth history and gave me a new found appreciation for this unassuming New Hampshire town. If you come to Portsmouth and you don't experience the Black Heritage trail you have missed out on an opportunity to learn and grow.

Used the app to do the self-guided walk. A little tricky at the start, but we soon got the hang of it. One of us would read the blurb for each site, and another would navigate. I appreciated having a different lens with which to see all these colonial mansions and historic sites of Portsmouth. The African Burying Ground Memorial was particularly powerful.

Very nice. The area is nice, clean and peaceful. Also visit the Black Heritage museum located approximately a couple of blocks away.

Amazing public resource. Great educational experience, built on careful research. Fun.

This is where history lives. Fantastic staff. Brilliant coordinators. Love these guys.
