Black Hole Bar

Walked in at 5:20pm, saw a big sign on the wall saying Happy Hour. Ordered a beer — cost me $8.82. I asked about the Happy Hour pricing, and the bartender casually said it ended at 5pm. No explanation, no apology — just zero concern. Either update your signage or honor what you advertise. Not a good look. Tried to order Negroni - we don't make cocktails now.

Really chill vibe upon walking in this spot about 8pm on a Monday. The bar is very dark on the inside. I guess that's where the name comes from, lol. There were 3 of us. 1 friend's bill was about $25 for 2 drinks. The other bill for 2 of us was about $50 for 4 drinks. The drinks were decent. I did get a nice buzz. I think it's worth mentioning that I was on an empty stomach. There was a female bartender. She was nice. I'd go back for their happy hour when everything is half off. I can see parking being an issue during busier times.

Good bar with nice decor and good specials. Before 6p every day everything is half off and there are rotating specials daily. There's an outdoor patio and a pool table up front. Don't think in could ask much more from a neighborhood bar.

Very chill and relaxing bar to hang out. There wasn’t any food available but that was OK. We just came to have a drink and watch some of the Michigan game. Nice and clean plenty of tables. There was also a pool table at the front and restrooms in the back.

Nice place to chill, jukebox & play pool. Dog friendly and they make a good drink. A very enjoyable environment, my service dog loves this place!

I have come here many times and had positive experiences. However, the last time I went, I was charged for 4 drinks, when I only ordered 3. I tried to inform the bartender, and asked if I was charged for 3 and she said yes, when I asked for an itemized receipt it said 4. I inquired with her and she insisted that this was not the case. I decided not to push it, but definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

Stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon for a couple of drinks and games of pool. The bartender was super friendly and the drinks were decent. They played good music in the background. It's a dollar in quarters per game of pool. We enjoyed our time here!

This is a very fun spot tucked away in Wicker! The happy hour deals were absolutely insane. We got 4 margaritas for $15!! Felt like I was back in a college town. There is a fun pool table right at the front that you can play at as well. Overall very chill and vibey with the music and lights! Would definitely go back again.

Been to this location a couple times and always love the ambiance here. Always very chill with pool players (and the occasional adorable dog). I was hangout out here after I drank a drink from Wake n Bakery and was feeling super zooted. But I was watching so many different movies while drinking on the cocktail the bartender made especially for me. I just asked for something sweet and she delivered. Love that they were playing The Barbershop, Harry Potter, and Now You See Me, just to name a few movies. I remember I came another time and ordered a purple drink and it was delicious. Forgot the name of it, but def recommend it when I figure out what it is.

Out of many bars ive been to in the northside, this is my Favorite bar in the city. I've been coming here almost a year for once a week and the bartenders are fantastic, especially Adrian. I come all the way from the southside to this establishment. Although I would love to see another pool table in the back & bring back the food they used to have.

I've been to this bar a few times and always had a good time with friends. It always seems to have a crowd, but it's not overly packed. The drink prices are pretty good and they have a great jukebox.

Super cool place. You can control the music, basically be your own DJ. Nice vibes and friendly service. Drinks are great and reasonably priced. Can't wait to get back!

Reviewing after seeing the owners comment - I have no idea how this place has such great reviews. The photos are deceiving. We walked in around 6:30 PM and there were around 8 men inside who all stared at us as we walked in. Yes, a hello was said by the person behind the bar. However the immediate vibe and sense myself and my two girlfriends got was one of discomfort upon entering this place. We felt out of place and immediately sensed something in our gut was off. Rather than doing a circle and walking right back out, we did walk to the back and sit at a table across from the bar to try to determine our next move. We pulled out our phones and looked for an alternative place to visit. Once deciding upon a place, we quickly left. Moreover, as we spent the evening in the area, we did walk by again later in the evening (around 10 PM) and glanced through the windows. We witnessed a similar, small, male dominated crowd inside.

i will never go back. service was ok. clientele--especially at the pool table--really sketchy and ignorant.

Divey, no-frills bar with strong mixed drinks and plenty of beer on tap. Lots of young clientele on a Sunday afternoon. ‍

BH has been a wonderful neighborhood bar for many; Unfortunately as time passes you realize many of its regulars / staff are sleazy, toxic and unsafe. The owner (and other regulars) can be handsy with female customers, which is uncomfortable and unasked for at best. The pool playing community is a respawn location for men and boys to measure their dick, very obnoxious and unwelcoming to newer female players. Don't get me wrong, there are wonderful people who frequent this bar (and at least one male bartender who is wonderful) but unfortunately the rest of the staff and community is sloppy, toxic and unsafe. Too many bad stories of assault / discomfort have come out of this space for me or my friends to go here anymore. Don't even bother if you're a customer with a conscience, go to a bar that values the safety and comfort of all guests.

This place was great. It wasn't annoyingly crowded like a lot of bars I've been to in Chicago so far. The drinks were so good, and extremely cheap! I got the Malcom Reynolds. It tasted like an arnold palmer. So good! Plus it was only 9 bucks! Right now they have cute little Harry Potter decorations up, so it was just all around fabulous.

The black hole is a unique experience. Great place to bring your wife or a date, the people are always friendly. The windows and doors are wide open to rush in fresh air. Bar food is great drinks are good. But it's a unique place to frequent take a shot for your self. Black hole is our go-to bar now. I love the atmosphere, the owner, the employees, and all the regulars!

Such a good happy hour! 1/2 off Monday-Saturday and $3 beer and seltzers on Tuesday. Good patio on division and bartenders are so nice!

This bar makes the best titos soda with 3 lemons! The ambience is fun! At night there is good dance music and a jukebox that allows patrons to play music from their phones, which is cool because you get a lot of different genres of good/hip music! The bartenders are very attentive and a lot of times they will be working on my drink before I order because they already know what I like to drink! This bar is borderline "Cheers' style bar, "where everybody knows your naaAAAamme" Solid people here, a down to earth owner and a great place to just chill and maybe meet other people if that's what you're into. Solid front runner for best new and upcoming bar on division st.

Although the drinks are great, the service at Black Hole is absolutely awful. It a running joke that this bar has the worst service on Division which is extremely frustrating because their drinks are delicious. If you go be sure to have a lot of patience and order 2 drinks at a time. Their food also leaves a lot of room for improvement. At one point they had food although I'm not sure what direction the bar is moving in now. I ordered their chicken sandwich. One of the best bars on division avenue! Always a fun crowd & great prices on drinks. They're Dog friendly & have TouchTunes too!

This place is amazing. Corey was more then welcoming for my first time in Chicago. This bar will be my regular stop every time I'm in this beautiful city.

Awesome bar in Wicker Park. Really good drinks and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The vibes were also awesome!! So fun!! Will def return next time in visiting!

I love the black hole! The owner Edward is very welcoming and nice, as well as the bartenders. They play great tunes, great priced drinks and a fun place to go to on the weekends or during the week! The outdoor space Is fun if you want to hangout outside and eat/drink.

Just went here for the first time last week and I'm itching to go back! It's clean and chic well also having a dive bar sort of vibe, which I loved. Drinks are good and affordable, bartenders are great. Honestly blown away by a clean bathroom these days like there was hand lotion ok werkkkk...There's also a pool table if that's your thing and a patio for warmer weather. I love this area of Chicago so I'll definitely be back!

This is one of the finest establishment in Chicago! The drinks are good, the bartenders are just fantastic, and the ambience is good. This is the place to be!!!

Really unpleasant experience. The bartender was rude to customers both times I came in. A couple of drunks were yelling and weaving around the pool table. No enforcement of any mask rules among customers, even when yelling at the bartender for drinks. It is a breeding ground for COVID-19.

Black hole is the fun local joint that I go to on the weekends. Love the pool table, music, and drinks!

Came in to Black Hole bar on a whim and had the BEST time. Our bartender Adrian and the rest of the staff were incredibly attentive. Will definitely be back and will recommend this spot to anyone looking for a good time !
